It seems like only yesterday we were teeing off at Westwoods. But after a great golf season, our off season has begun. Please watch your announcements for many upcoming social events heading into And on behalf of the Hartford Chapter we d like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and best wishes for a great New Year. UPCOMING SOCIAL EVENTS Hat s off to our Social Committee for lining up some fantastic events while we wait for the snow to melt and the next golf season to begin. The following is a sampling of the upcoming events they have on tap with more being planned. NEW YEAR S EVE at Nancy Elliott's home on 12/31 HAPPY HOUR AT THE FLYING MON- KEY at Brainard Airport in Hartford on Friday January 12 from 3:30 6 PM. BOWLING AT BOWL-A-RAMA in Newington (Berlin Turnpike) on Jan. 20 with food and drink at Bertucci s restaurant afterwards. SUPER BOWL PARTY at Nancy Clark s home on Sunday February 4 Watch your s for details and more events. And come out and join us! BOARD OF DIRECTORS UPDATE There will be changes on the 2018 Hartford Chapter Board. RETURNING MEM- BERS:: Rick Avery-President, Dee Di- Mauro and Nancy Elliott Membership Co-Chairs, Barbara Mahoney and Chris Malse Social Committee Co-Chairs, Ken Maher Meetup Coordinator. Paul Silverio Golf Committee Chair, Barry Smith Treasurer, and Dave Irwin Handicap and HASGA Cup Coordinator have decided not to return for The Hartford Chapter thanks Paul, Barry, and Dave for their service. We are pleased to welcome Cheryl Woodin and Dave Porowski as Golf Committee Co-Chairs, Ken Maher as Treasurer, Mary Roberts as Newsletter Editor and Communications, and Rose Zolnik as Secretary for The Handicap / HASGA Cup Coordinator position is currently open. For the first time (we believe) there was a tie for the HASGA Cup. Congratulations to Linda Zabor and Jay Tulin for finishing tied at 97 points for Jay was the winner in 2016 and will share the trophy Upcoming Multi-Chapter Events (see SinglesGolf.com/events) 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise - March 24-31, Take the Celebrity Equinox out of Miami, Florida, stops in Key West, Puerto Costa Mayo and Cozumel, Mexico, George Town, Grand Cayman and back to Miami. We're planning for three rounds of golf, which are optional. Full details at ASGA National-Sponsored Spring Fling Early, Date and location to be determined. This won t be held in Florida, however, we re seeking a location in the mid-atlantic region, somewhere midway up the East Coast. Open for ideas! ASGA in Ireland / Northern Ireland July, Just a thought at this point but we haven t been to Ireland since We ve experienced Scotland twice and Spain once. We ll do a national survey soon about your desire to travel to the land with no snakes. Tom Alsop will be doing site visits in December, selecting hotels, courses and restaurants. 3 Bill Reilly Event October 7- Portland West BILL REILLY EVENT RAISES MONEY FOR CHARITY A great turnout of over 40 Hartford Chapter members and Bill Reilly s family hi-lited a great day of golf, charity and remembrance of a good friend on October 7th. All told we raised over $ 2000 to benefit two of Bill s favorite charities The Waterbury YMCA / Livestrong program as well as Midstate Medical. It was a fantastic day and featured a great raffle much of it based on donations from chapter members and generous sponsors. 5 PAIR OF ACES IN 2017 The Hartford Chapter has not had a hole in one at an event since Diana Swenhall recorded one in 2013 at our Tri-Chapter event at River Ridge. But we had not 1 but 2 this year! The first ace was recorded by Linda Yurkunas on July 23 at Keney Park in Hartford. Linda aced the par 3 13th hole. And then on October 7 at the Bill Reilly event Cheryl Woodin aced the par 3 1st hole. Congratulations to both Linda and Cheryl. They split 75% ($ each) of the 2017 Acer Pool. Nice shooting ladies!!!
