1 Welcome to Hampton Hall Golf Club
2 Welcome to the Hampton Hall Golf Club! The information in this Brochure will provide you with an overview of Golf Club operations, amenities, organizations and activities. The two main organizations within the golf club are the Men s Golf Society (MGS) and the Ladies Golf Society (LGS). Both organizations are vibrant and growing groups that work very hard to ensure that there are multiple opportunities for all members to find a game to play in during the week. There are weekly games that are the staples of the MGS and LGS plus other special events throughout the year. The special events are shown on the MGS and LGS golf calendars that follow. The Golf Staff works hand in hand with the general membership to make sure you enjoy the game and your fellow members and can match you up to a particular game based on your handicap. If there are any questions you might have about the Golf Club or any of our events, please feel free to stop by the Pro Shop or give us a call at (843) Play Well! 7 Men s Golf Society On behalf of the Hampton Hall Men s Golf Society (MGS), welcome to the Hampton Hall Golf Club. The MGS was established to enhance the golf member experience by stimulating camaraderie and sportsmanship by promoting a golfing environment that offers friendly competition within the Society as well as in inter-club events. Men s Golf Society (MGS) Membership in the MGS allows you to participate in all MGS events throughout the year. The annual membership fee for 2017 is $35 annually and is reduced by 50% for those joining after July 1st. This annual fee may change as necessary. Please contact any Board member or other individuals listed on page 4 for a Membership Application or if you have questions regarding MGS membership. A passion, an obsession a romance, a nice acquaintanceship with trees, sand, and water - Bob Ryan MGS Reserved Tee Times The MGS reserves morning tee times for our members on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The preferred way to sign up for MGS events, and any other non-mgs tee times and events, is to use the Hampton Hall website.
8 After entering your member login information, select Golf menu, then select the Book a Tee Time sub menu, select the appropriate day and look for the MGS event. In addition to the event and tee time sign up, using the website sign up also provides you with other useful information such as cart path restriction, pin placement and a schedule of upcoming events. You can also call the Golf Shop to sign up for events. Brent Carlson, Head PGA Golf Professional, will reach out to each new member and schedule a general orientation. The orientation will assist the new member(s) in navigating the handicap system, on line tee time system, check in, group play and other useful information. Each new member is entitled to a complimentary swing analysis. MGS Weekly Events Why am I using a new putter? Because the last one didn t float too well. - Craig Stadler Saturday: Saturday is the main MGS event of the week and is a great venue for meeting many of the other MGS members. Tee times typically start between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Sign up by adding your name to the MGS Saturday event shown when you click on Book a tee time on the Hampton Hall website. A wide variety of games are played on Saturday with groups determined by both tee preference and handicap. Our Golf shop staff assigns foursomes based on your selected tees (white, combo, gold, forward) and handicap. There is a $10 entry fee for which winners will receive Golf Shop credit. If compatible with the weekly game, an optional $5 skins game and closest to the pin may be available. Cancellations of tee times for the Saturday event must be by noon on Friday as the teams are made up at that time. Late cancellations or no shows will result in the loss of the entry fee.
9 Tuesday: There is one group that plays on Tuesday mornings, tee times vary, and is generally a best 2 of 4 balls, net. Entry, fee is $5 and winnings are distributed immediately after play. A gimme can best be defined as an agreement between two golfers, neither of whom can putt very well - Author Unknown Wednesday: There are two groups that play on Wednesday morning: the Fun Group and the Low handicap groups. The fun group is designed for people who want to play less competitive golf without an entry fee. Our Golf shop staff assigns foursomes based on tees and handicap. The low handicap group provides a more competitive playing environment for our membership with at $15 entry fee. The low handicap game is two man teams with one gross and one net score. Sign up by Monday noon for that week s event. While any MGS member can sign up for the low handicap, the maximum number of strokes given is 14, (i.e. no strokes are given on any par three holes). Thursday: There is one group that plays on Thursday mornings, tee times may vary. Sign up by Tuesday noon for that week's event. Foursomes are determined on the driving range before the first tee time by a random selection of golf balls thrown down by participants; however, final Teams are not determined until after play by drawing cards. Format is a Stableford-like points game. Entry fee is $5 and distributed immediately after play. Major Club Events Golf is twenty percent mechanics and technique. The other eighty percent is philosophy, humor, tragedy, romance, melodrama, companionship, camaraderie, cussedness, and conversation - Grantland Rice The MGS coordinates the year long Ragland Cup competition and assists with the other major Club wide events during the year including Member/Guest, Member/Member, Inter league, and Intra Club leagues as well as a variety of other competitive and fun events including the Hole-in-One Club. 15 EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL USGA Position Paper on the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) Procedure - ESC sets a maximum number that a player can post on any hole depending on the player s Course Handicap. Individual Handicap Maximum Score permitted on any hole 9 or less double bogey 10 through 19 7 The ardent golfer would play Mt. Everest if somebody put a flag on top. Pete Dye # 10 tee 20 through through or more 10 USGA REFERENCE GUIDE: ADJUSTING HOLE SCORES Incomplete holes or conceded strokes - if a player picks up on a hole or is conceded a stroke, record the most likely score that would have been made. This most likely score is the number of strokes (including penalty strokes) taken thus far, played under the Rules of Golf, plus the number of strokes needed to complete the hole from that point more than half the time. An x should precede the score on the scorecard for this hole score (e.g. x5). Holes not Played - When a hole is not played, or not played under The Rules of Golf, the score entered for handicap purposes is par (for this hole) plus any handicap strokes the player is entitled to, based on their Course Handicap. Acceptable Scores for Handicap purposes - Post scores when at least 7 holes are played (7 to 12 holes are posted as a 9 hole score) while 13 or more holes are posted as an 18 hole score

Put your score card for all Hampton Hall rounds played in the file near the computer in the Posting Room following posting. Scorecards for rounds played at other courses may also be dropped in this file for review Pace of Play Time Standards This pace of play policy requires the club to post and distribute the following table. The table provides the time that each group should be at each tee and ready to tee off to support the expected Hampton Hall pace of play standards. The chart below reflects a 4 minute restroom break after holes 4,12 and at the turn when golf carts are allowed on the fairway. Cart restrictions add 1 minute per restricted hole. This Pace of Play Policy has been established for the enjoyment of all. If the group ahead is playing on pace please be considerate of them even if your group has the ability to play faster. Here are a few suggestions to help your group maintain its pace of play: Your group should be at your starting tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time Play ready golf-defined as doing your pre-shot routine while another is hitting their ball Keep within 2 shots of the group in front of you When playing Carts on Path, take two or three clubs with you to your ball Size up your putt while another golfer is putting, without disrupting their putt or line Hole Tee Time Starting time 14 min 28 min 44 min 57 min 1 hr 10 min 1 hr 23 min 1 hr 32 min 1 hr 46 min Hole hr 2 hr 2 hr 2 hr 3 hr 3 hr 3 hr 3 hr 46 Tee 20 6 min 36 min 54 min 7 min 16 min 32 min min Time min 3 hr 56 min
