Weibring Golf Course The UNI women took 2nd place, despite the rain delay and a round cancelled, at the Creighton Classic in Omaha on April 12th with a score of 671. The Panthers are now gearing up for the State Farm MVC Championship to take place in Normal, Ill. on the Weibring Golf Course. This course has 6,915 yards to play with a par of 71. ON THE TEE BOX After a rain delay and a round cancelled the Panthers took 2nd place at the Creighton Classic. Sarah Boss took first for the Panthers with 164 and tied for 3rd, following her was Blair Bonner with Brittany Atterbury with Jocilyn Onnen with and Emily Monroe with 191. Abbey Bermel and Alex Zenor competed as individuals at the Creighton Classic. Bermel scored 177 and Zenor scored 179 after two rounds. The Panthers placed 17th at the UALR Women s Golf Classic. Brittany Atterbury held the lead with 227 and tied for 18th. Blair Bonner followed Atterbury with 234 and a tie for 45th. Other Panther participants were Katie Tabbert with 246, Sarah Boss with 250, and Jocilyn Onnen with 258. Blair Bonner took the medalist honors that the Southern Utah Triangular on March 17th. UNI placed 2nd with 122 using the Stableford scoring. Katie Tabbert Brittany Atterbury, Sarah Boss, Jocilyn Onnen, Emily Monroe, and Abby Bermel all put up points for the Panthers. The Panthers placed 12th at the Jackrabbit Invite on March 15th scoring a total of 970. Head Coach John Bermel 9th Season John Bermel is in his ninth season as the head women s golf coach at the University of Northern Iowa. He took over the women s coaching duties in Bermel is in his 16th year as UNI s head men s golf coach. A three-time NCAA Division III All-American and fouryear varsity letter winner at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Bermel brings nearly 20 years of competitive and teaching experience to UNI. In 1990, Bermel became the head golf professional at Beaver Hills Country Club in Cedar Falls, a position he held until December He currently is the head professional at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, also in Cedar Falls. Bermel is also the Teaching Instructor of Executive Golf Limited. He has worked with some of the best golf instructors in the United States in order to learn and teach the latest methods of golf instruction. In July 2009, Golf Digest named Bermel The Best Teacher of golf in the state of Iowa, based on a poll of golf instructors. UNI WOMEN S GOLF
