2 GOLF AT SOUTH BEDS GC The Venue for Golf at any time of year! In 1891, two local businessmen decided that golf could be a worthwhile sport and started considering the possibility of playing golf in Luton. After much investigation, Warden Hills proved to be the most suitable suit and thus began the beginnings of a golf course. The club came into existence in 1892 and South Beds GC was established as the oldest club in Bedfordshire with its own course. The club s first president was Lord Battersea who was also the South Beds constituency member for parliament and the course has been played numerous times by the great Harry Vardon in the 1920 s. Over the years the course has continually developed including the last major work in 1978 resulting in our two courses The Galley Course and Warden Course named after the two hills that lie on the east side of the golf course. The whole area of our golfing estate lies on a belt of chalk downland which provides wonderful natural drainage qualities. With a course that s rarely closed, this provides the perfect location for society golf in both summer and winter. The Galley is our 18 Hole course which provides a fine golfing test with panoramic views across the local landscape. At over 6400 yards, this Par 71 course won t disappoint. The Warden is a 9 hole course which contains a number of the original holes from South Beds Golf Club. Although the holes are shorter than the Galley, it s a tough test especially when the wind is blowing providing a challenge for experienced golfers. 5 Golf Society/Event Terms and Conditions GOLF DAYS 1. A golf day or society booking is for a minimum of 12 full paying players. Any variation from this will be at the sole discretion of the Club. 2. There is a 3 ball policy in operation throughout the year to assist with course organisation and speed of play. 3. A provisional booking is made on completion and submission of a booking form to the Club. 4. Players must adhere to club dress code, both on the Course and in the Clubhouse, and etiquette of golf. Further information on the dress code is available on the Club website. 5. The Galley course at South Beds is members course and not for beginners, therefore players within society groups should be of a reasonable ability. If on the day, in the opinion of club officials, players are deemed to be beginners they may be asked to leave the course. 6. It is the Society Organiser s responsibility to ensure that the above points are adhered to by all players on the day. DEPOSIT PAYMENTS 7. A deposit must be paid within 14 days of the provisional booking. If the event occurs less than 14 days from booking the deposit is required at time of booking. 8. Bookings are provisional until receipt of appropriate deposit and signed copy of these terms and conditions. The Club reserves the right to cancel any booking without liability in the event of nonpayment of a deposit or failure to return the signed Terms and Conditions document. 9. Deposits are non-refundable except under circumstance defined in section 16. A deposit of 5 per person is required at the time of booking for events with a total value under 500. For events with a total value greater than 500 the Club reserves the right to request a higher level of deposit. ARRANGEMENTS AND NUMBERS ATTENDING 9. The Customer must confirm to the Club all information necessary to organise the golf event including the number of attendees, details of special dietary requirements and menu selections, not less than 7 working days prior to the golf event. Where a booking is made at less than 7 days notice, all information must be confirmed at the time of booking. 10. Final confirmed numbers are required no later than 3 working days prior to the event. 11. The Club reserves the right to reallocate the golf event if the attendance differs significantly from the predicted number. The Club will give written notice of amendments prior to the event if given a reasonable notice period of changes by the Customer. The Club reserves the right to make any necessary amendments to the proposed menu or facilities. 12. Should a Society wish to increase the numbers after confirmed numbers have been supplied, this will be at the discretion of SBGC with all additional players subject to the same charge per player as previously agreed.

6 Golf Society/Event Terms and Conditions (continued) CANCELLATION 13. Cancellation charges are based upon the Customer s most recent confirmation. 14. In the event of cancellation prior to an event the charges are as outlined below. 8 days or more prior to the golf event = All deposits lost or event transferred to a future date. 7-0 days prior to golf event = Full balance payable 15. The Club will make every attempt to resell cancelled booking space/times and use the profit in calculation of cancellation charges. 16. The Club may, at its sole discretion, cancel at any time any golf event it deems may prove unsuitable or disruptive to the Club as a whole. Although not bound to do so the Club would, if permitted, offer a minimum of 48hrs notice in consideration of the Customer s need to amend arrangements. In such event the Club will refund all monies paid in advance by the Customer and shall be deemed to have no further liability arising from the cancellation. In the event that a Customer is found to have misrepresented the nature of an event, the Club reserves the right to cancel the event without refund of monies paid in advance. PAYMENT 17. For all bookings payment of balance due is to be made in full no later than the day of the event prior to the first tee time. 18. The Club is not liable to offer reductions or reimbursement in the event that weather affects your golf day in any way whatsoever excluding section The Customer agrees to take full responsibility, and reimburse the Club, for the cost of repair arising from any damage to the property, contents or course and grounds by the players in their golf society. 20. All prices quoted include VAT unless otherwise stated. Adjustment to any of the above terms and conditions are at the sole discretion of the General Manager. Any changes must be stated on the booking form and only apply for the duration of that event. The Club reserves the right to revise quotations where prices may be affected due to reasons beyond its control and in such event will do so in writing to the Customer.
