4 Dress Code The dress code should always be appropriate for whatever occasion a member or a guest participates in. Dress is expected to be generally accepted and proper. 1. Appropriate attire is required by the Foxborough Country Club for all activities and for the use of all facilities. Determination for appropriateness for golf or for other forms of service is the responsibility of management. 2. In the event that a private, non-golf related function is held at the Club, the dress code is encouraged but shall not be strictly enforced. 3. Golf shoes are recommended; soft-soled athletic shoes are permitted. The use of metal spikes is prohibited. 4. No jeans (work or designer) can be worn on the golf course during the golf season, April 1 thru October 31. Clean and presentable jeans are allowed on the golf course and in the Clubhouse from November 1 thru April 1 st. Clean and presentable jeans (not work jeans) are considered appropriate attire and allowed in the clubhouse at all times. 5. At all times, collared or fashion shirts are appropriate attire. At no time are T-shirts, tank & halter-tops, cut-off or athletic shorts, work dungarees, torn or unkempt clothing and work boots appropriate attire. 6. The driving range and all golf facilities are considered part of the golf course and therefore appropriate attire must be worn. The Board of Governors reserves the right to terminate all privileges of those who do not adhere to these guidelines. Driving Range Policies Hours of Operation: (All Members) Tuesday-Sunday: Opens 30 mins. before first tee time. Closes 30 mins. prior to sunset Outing Mondays: Subject to change based on time of outing 1. Proper Attire is required at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS 2. When the range door is closed and the gate is across the opening the range is closed. 3. Mondays and Tuesdays will be mats only. 4. No taking buckets or range balls from the range. 5. No sharing range tokens. 6. Return range baskets to the garage when exiting the range. 7. NO HITTING BALLS OVER THE NET Driving Range Policies for Junior Members Hours of operation: (Junior Members) Tuesday Friday: Same as above Sat, Sun, Holidays 10:00 AM 30 mins. prior to sunset It will be up to the discretion of the Golf Staff to limit times if needed The above range policies as well as the following apply to Junior Members: 1. Juniors will use only the last 5 bays on the far end of the range. 2. If the range becomes full they must step aside for an adult member until a spot opens up. 3

5 Golf Operations, Guidelines & Procedures Chain of command for opening and closing of course: The Club makes a clear and unambiguous delegation of authority to the Superintendent to make the final determination in matters of conditions suitable for play. In his absence, his second in command, the Assistant Superintendent, shall be empowered to act. In the extreme unlikely event that both authorities are absent or unavailable to make a decision, the authority shall extend to the Golf Pro. Golf Car Usage The rules for operation of golf cars are posted on each car and any violation shall result in the loss of the use of the golf car. The following rules apply: Golf cars are to be kept out of the woods Golf cars are to be kept away from all greens Golf cars must stay on macadam or dirt paths and follow directional signs Only 2 riders and bags per golf car are permitted Red flags are issued by the Golf Committee If two players in one group are using a golf car, they must double up Guests All guests must register in the Pro Shop before playing. Members shall be responsible for their guests. Guests of the Pro Shop (greens fees players) are the responsibility of the Pro Shop. Guest play is as follows: - From April 1 st up thru and including June 30 th, full members are limited to one guest on weekends and holidays prior to 10:30 AM. After 10:30 AM, a full member may bring up to three (3) guests. - From July 1 st to December 1 st members may bring up to 3 guests at any time. - From April 1 st to December 1 st, no guest shall be allowed to play more than twice per calendar month during prime time. This rule is exempted for participation in clubsponsored Member-Guest outings. Hours of Play, Tee Times, Prime Time During the golf season, the course opens at 7:00 AM on weekdays and 6:30 AM on weekends and holidays. The clubhouse is open at 6:30 AM on weekdays and 6:00 AM on weekends and holidays. On weekends and holidays, tee times are assigned by the starter. During prime time, three (3) persons of your group must be present and signed in to obtain a tee time from the starter/pro shop. The first and tenth tees are under the control of the starter/pro shop at all times. Prime Time is defined as 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM on weekends and holidays. The guidelines from section 10-3 from the USGA Handicap System are in effect. Points will be allocated in the following manner for: Claude Young & 3-Day Member Guest FCC Match Play & 2-Day Member Guest 1 st Place 5 points 1 st Place 3 Points 2 nd Place 4 points 2 nd Place 2 Points 3 rd Place 3 points Once a member has accumulated eight (8) points in a 12 month period (period beginning when a player s first points are earned), that member may be subject to a cut of two (2) strokes from his handicap. For every two (2) points earned over those eight (8) points, his/her handicap may be further reduced by one (1) stroke. The 12-month period for points accumulation is the current 12 months any points accumulated outside of the current 12 month period will drop off and not be considered. There may be exceptions: When a player is scheduled to be cut, the handicap chairman will submit his name to the Golf Committee for review. If his current handicap is lower than when points were accumulated or trending downward, a lesser cut may be applied. If his current handicap or trend is upward an additional reduction may be applied. 5

7 Any player who wishes to know his point total can contact the handicap chairman or the Pro Shop. These guidelines apply to the following tournaments: s Days s Day is Thursday s from 9:00 9:45 unless changed by the Golf Committee. Signup time is from 8:30 9:00. Players must be at least 50 years of age. All Senior sponsored medal tournaments will be played with 100% handicaps. Thursday entrance fees will be $ The Senior Committee reserves the right to change the format if necessary. Winter Rules From December 1 st until April 1 st, membership class rules (see Membership Status) will not be in effect. All members may play at any time the course is open. All members must observe the posted notices at the 1 st tee as to playing temporary greens, tee locations and course conditions. Winter Play for Non-Members The course will be closed to the public each year beginning December 1 st and will remain closed to the public until April 1 st. During this period, members will be allowed to bring one guest. The guest fee during this period shall be 20% less than the prevailing normal season fee. Women s Golf League All women members of Foxborough Country Club are automatically eligible to participate in all women s golf activities, tournaments, and Player of the Year events. There are no separate annual dues. All women members are welcome and encouraged to attend the Opening Day Meeting and (optional) Scramble on April 8 th to learn about this year s activities. Breakfast will be provided by the Club. On Tuesday mornings there are reserved tee times for women members playing 18-holes or 9- holes. Those playing 18 holes please check in by 8am in person or by calling the pro shop. Tee times begin at 8:30am. There are weekly competitions for 18-hole players for a small fee for those wishing to compete for pro shop prizes. Groups playing 9-holes will follow the 18-hole groups and there is no weekly competition. There are usually informal tee times set up for women members on Friday mornings and Saturdays after noon. No registration is necessary please consult the calendar in the Women s Locker Room for tee times and check in 30 minutes before tee time. Please consult the bulletin board in the Women s Locker Room for season-long competitions for Ringers/Chip-ins Birdies ($25 for the season), Women s tournaments, and other activities. A valid GHIN handicap is required for all competitions. 6

8 TOURNAMENTS, LEAGUES, PLAYER OF THE YEAR Tournament Player of the Year Men This award is designed to honor the man who has the most success over the course of the year. The process will last the entire year with each tournament having a point value for first place, second place, third place and in some cases fourth place. Each tournament will be grouped into categories with assigned point values. These categories are: Club Championship & Major Tournaments 2nd Tier Tournament Minor Tournament First Place: 20 Points First Place: 15 Points First Place: 5 Points Second Place: 15 Points Second Place: 10 Points Second Place: 3 Points Third Place: 10 Points Third Place: 5 Points Third Place: 2 Points Fourth Place: 5 Points The point values will be higher in the prestigious Club Championship and Major Tournaments and decrease in value to the less prominent minor tournaments. This Player of the Year tournament will be open to every member, at no extra cost, with the only requirement being participation in club-sponsored events. The Leaderboard will be posted in the clubhouse as well as on the website. The winner will be awarded a $500 Foxborough Country Club chit good for purchasing food, Pro Shop items, greens fees or golf car fees. In case of a tie, the scores will be totaled by tournament distinction. The player with the most Club Championship and Major points combined will be declared the winner. If there is still a tie, it would then go to the 2 nd Tier column, then to the Minor column. If there is still a tie, then Co-Players of the Year will be declared and the monetary award will be divided evenly. The Golf Committee has set the conditions for this tournament. Men can only earn points from the eligible tournaments listed on page 8. 7

10 Tournament Player of the Year - Women Purpose The Tournament Player of the Year is designed to honor the FCC woman who has had the most success in tournaments. The award is based on accumulated points in selected Tournaments. The player with the most points will be crowned FCC Woman Tournament Player of the Year. 11 FALL FLING INVITATIONAL As an Invitational, this tournament is open to the public so FCC members are encouraged to advertise and promote the tournament to their friends and other golf clubs. Format: Best 2 balls, 4 woman team Awards: FCC Pro Shop chits MURIEL BEARCE TOURNAMENT This tournament is held in honor of Muriel Bearce, an original member and instrumental leader in the founding of the FCC Women s Golf Association. As an Invitational, this tournament is open to the public so FCC members are encouraged to advertise and promote the tournament to their friends and other golf clubs. Tuesday May 29 th Qualifying: Sign-up sheet in the Women s Locker Room or by mail. Must have a current USGA Handicap Index. Format: 18 holes better ball of twosome. Awards: FCC pro shop chits or merchandise. Prior to playing a Shoot Out round, get your score card from the Pro Shop stamped Shoot Out and pay $2. At the completion of your round, submit your score to the Pro Shop. - No limit on the number of rounds played - Top ten low net and ties play in the Shoot Out Format: 9 holes played, 1 player eliminated on each hole. Each team will play the other teams in their flight twice during the regular season, with the top four teams in each flight qualifying for the playoffs. Playoff format will be 1vs.4 & 2vs.3. The semi-final winners, (playing for 1 st place) & the consolation match, (playing for 3 rd place) will take place the following week. Handicaps for the matches will be the players 18-hole handicap cut in half for the 9-hole match then played at 85% of the difference, stroking off of the low player in the match and then. ½ shots will be used if necessary. Scorecards for all of the matches will be issued by the golf shop prior to your match. All prizes will be pro shop chits and they will be awarded following the completion of the playoffs. Scoring Format Each match is worth 10 points. 1 point per hole and 1 point for winning the match. If there is a tie on a hole ½ points will be awarded to each team. We will have a 7 point max rule allowed in a match Substitutes: Makeup Matches: No Shows: You may have a substitute, but not within your own flight. Please inform the golf shop prior to your match if you have a sub, so that we can make the proper adjustments to the scorecard. If you miss a week the match must be played before the next Wednesday or we will match cards using the most recent weeks score. If a team doesn t show up for a match and they didn t contact the other team they will forfeit the match and 6 pts will be awarded to the other team. 17
