Chairman s Report It is my pleasure to present the Golf SA Annual report for the year ending 30th June There continue to be significant achievements across the organisation, with the most significant being the adoption of a new Constitution at a Special General Meeting held in May. The new Constitution will improve our governance structure in line with the policies of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and the South Australian Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS). Our clubs and districts voted overwhelmingly in favour of the new constitution which has adopted the ASC policy of a 40% minimum representation of either gender on our Board. Also included has been the ability to appoint a Nominations Committee to help us seek persons with particular skills to assist with areas of special need and also to appoint up to two additional Board members. Golf SA remains indebted to the clubs that continue to provide access to courses and tee times for our major Events and to the volunteers that help us to run and present these events at a very high standard. The major events, the Golf SA Amateur Classic and Rene Erichsen Salver continue to be well supported, attracting many players from Interstate. While the Senior and Junior Interstate teams events did not return any silverware to the trophy cabinet, we were very proud to witness our state number one male player Antonio Murdaca win the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship held at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club and thus qualify to take his place in the Masters Championship held at Augusta Georgia in April. While he did not make the cut, it was a marvellous learning experience for the young man which will serve him well in the future. We have been concerned over the last few years about falling club membership numbers and the well-known fact that many clubs are struggling both financially and in dealing with the increasing requirement to deal with legislative changes, particularly in the area of Occupational Health and Safety. To that end we have developed a Chip In Club Support program to assist clubs in dealing with these issues. It is pleasing to note that while some club memberships continue to fall, the overall numbers appear to have stabilised in the last 12 months in most states. Hopefully we will see increasing numbers in the future. Over the last few months we have learned of a proposal by Golf Australia of the desire of the ASC to promote a more centralised structure which will be called One Golf, similar to such entities as Cricket Australia and Tennis Australia. It is early days yet and working parties to consider this are currently being put together. We remain indebted to the Office for Recreation and Sport not only for the financial support that they have continued to provide, but also for the many indirect services it provides by way of networking opportunities, training and development sessions to the Board, our volunteers and staff. Thanks go to our major sponsors and partners including Coca-Cola Amatil, Srixon, Golf Car Solutions, NSR, Host Plus and W Group. You support is greatly appreciated and I encourage all clubs to support these organisations. Finally, on behalf of the Board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people that help to make the playing of Golf a mostly enjoyable experience for all of us. Where would we be without our volunteers at all levels, be they at club, district or state level. At a personal level I wish to thank my fellow Board Members, the CEO and Office Staff for the help that they have given me since I took up the post in November. Tony Bourne Chair, Golf SA 4

Chief Executive Officer s Report Golf SA delivered two key strategic initiatives in the period through its on-going participation in Playgolf WEEK and the launch of the Chip In Club Support Program. Both initiatives are aligned with national programs that are being rolled out across Australia. In 2014 Playgolf WEEK was run as a national membership and marketing program for golf clubs. Playgolf WEEK is coordinated by Golf Australia with all States and Territories participating. Golf clubs in SA are now realising how important a coordinated marketing campaign is to growing the game. The Golf Industry s response to data that fifty per cent of clubs are under financial stress was to develop a national golf club health check to improve the governance, capability, financial performance and sustainability of clubs. Golf SA has taken this program a step further by engaging experienced Consultants to deliver this program (Chip In) to our clubs individually. The Chip In Program was launched in January 2015 with the objective of visiting clubs annually. Operationally, Golf SA has achieved a number of key objectives. The new on-line pennant competition management system was rolled out successfully as part of the 2015 season to the Golf SA Pennant Competition. The adoption of this system has streamlined the administration and functioning of the Competition and has been extremely well received by all. The Golf SA Schedule has been altered considerably to meet the demands of an ever crowded national/ international schedule, increasing club requirement for member tee times and in some instances a lack of participation numbers for specific events. To date the changes have been accepted in the majority and are proving successful. MyGolf, the national junior participation program continues to be the focus-point of our efforts. A robust and sustainable MyGolf program in a club is seen as a healthy sign. Golf SA continues to work with its clubs to ensure this happens. The Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS) supports the network of State Sporting Organisations (SSO) including Golf SA. However, demand on government funding has seen a greater demand for accountability on the part of SSO s. Golf SA Board and Staff continue to represent the game of golf at various activities, events and functions to ensure our voice is heard. On behalf of the Board and Members of Golf SA I extend my sincere thanks to the Golf SA Team - Margaretann Burgess (Finance & Office Manager), Christian Puccini (Development & Communications Manager), Leah Tattersall (Competition Manager), Allan Telford (Development Coach) and Sophie Cocks (Administrative Support) for a good job well done. Chris Luz-Raymond Chief Executive Officer 5

Match Committee Report In a busy start to the year, the SA Junior Masters, held at Royal Adelaide saw Douglas Klein (Qld) win the Boy s event two strokes ahead of SA s Lachlan Barker with Olivia Kline (Vic) winning the Girls event. The SA Boys Junior Amateur was won by Glenelg s Will Starkey in a play-off. The Grange s Ella Adams won the Girls Junior Amateur. The prestigious international Astor Trophy (previously Commonwealth Trophy) was played at The Grange GC (West Course) in January. Teams representing New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and Great Britain-Ireland participated. Glenelg s Jenny Lee was part of the winning Australian team. The Golf SA Classic and Rene Erichsen Salver returned to the Royal Adelaide Golf Club. The Classic was won fittingly by Grange s Antonio Murdaca in his last national event before leaving for the US Masters. The Rene Erichsen Salver was won by Victoria s Jo Charlton. April also saw South Australia host the Australian Boys and Girls Amateur Championships (Kooyonga GC) and (Tea Tree Gully GC) and the Junior Interstate Series at Links Lady Bay and Fleurieu. The SA Amateur Championship, traditionally held in March, was rescheduled to September/October due to the heavy national schedule of events in the first half of the year. There is an exciting new structure and format of the event as part of this. Club Support Program Seniors golf continues to grow with SA now having a Women s National Ranking event as part of the combined SA Men s & Women s Senior Amateur Championship to be held at Links Lady Bay in Sep The Golf SA Pennant saw Kooyonga GC triumph in the Simpson Cup and The Grange win the Women s A1. It was pleasing to see the online competition management and result system embraced by Clubs and supporters I think all agree having near instant result updates add to the level of interest throughout the season. The focus of the Match Committee now is to re-structure the Women s Competition to create a format and structure to cater for the majority and open opportunities by having both a Sunday and Monday competition. Thank you to the Match Committee; Bob Crosby, Patrick Mentzel, Susan Seja, Jenny Butcher and Mary Winser for you time and efforts! Also a huge thank you to all the volunteers who assist as Rules and Match Officials for the various events events cannot be held without you. The biggest thank you must go to the Clubs and their Members for giving up their courses to host the various state and national events it is always greatly appreciated! Adrian Johnston Chair Match Committee The Golf Industry in its 2013 National Participation Survey published in April 2014 identified that approximately 50% of all golf clubs are under financial distress. As part of a national response to these findings Golf Australia developed resources for a Club Support Program. Golf SA adopted this approach by engaging a number of consultants to work directly with its member clubs. The aim of the Golf SA (Chip In) Program was to improve the governance, capability, financial performance and sustainability of participating golf clubs. Golf SA identified some sixty golf clubs that operate 12 months of the year as the first priority for Chip in. The Number of clubs that have indicated a desire to be involved in the Club Support Program vindicates Golf SA s decision to implement the Program in the first place. The Club Support Program was planned in the last half of 2014 and launched officially in January Golf SA engaged two experienced and well regarded ex-golf club managers in Adrian Edgar and Alan Tarry as it Consultants for the Program. To the end of this FY seven Clubs have participated in the Program with a further five imminent and a number of other clubs on an expanding waiting list. The Club Support Program is scheduled to run over a period of three years. A critical component of the Program is for the Consultants to revisit the Clubs to review the progress being made and to provide mentoring. The reports from the Consultants to date is that while each Club has an unique set of circumstances there are strong themes including governance, strategic planning, financial planning, membership and marketing that need to be addressed by ongoing professional development and training for both club staff (where they are employed) and in particular club committees. Golf SA is extending the club support program across its eighty or so smaller clubs through the Office for Recreation and Sport Star Club Program that is already in place. To date, the response from the Clubs visited by the Consultants has been positive and any feedback received is being used to further the program s effectiveness. The Club Support Program is proving a positive step forward by Golf SA to assist our Member Clubs. I would like to express our appreciation to Allan Tarry and Adrian Edgar our Consultants who have embraced the Club Support Program and provide their valuable insight and experience so willingly to benefit our Member Clubs. William Klaebe Chair Club Support 6

Finance Audit Risk Management Report At the risk of sounding like a broken record I am again pleased to report that your management team and the Board have achieved the budgeted outcome planned for 2014/15 financial year and have ended the year with a small surplus. Our regime of regular reporting and monthly meetings helps us to stay on top of things and any deviations from the budget can be dealt with in a timely manner thereby avoiding any unwanted surprises. Our investment portfolio continues to hold its ground in a very fractious market. Interest Rates on our term deposits continue to decline however the share portfolio and property holdings continue to provide an increased dividend return to help ease pressure on income requirements. The financial health of our clubs is a number one priority. A new initiative and a major investment, The Club Support Program, commenced operations in 2014/15 and is in full swing in the current year. We have received some State Government support to help us achieve our lofty goals in this campaign which we believe will be of major benefit to the many clubs who have agreed to participate. During the year we asked the clubs of South Australia if they would consider funding a return of the SA Open by means of an increased annual subscription. All but the major clubs voted a resounding NO to that idea so we have removed that option from our thinking and we are now pursuing a self-funded event for the future. The return of the SA Open is still a very important goal for your Board to achieve. In recognition that a number of clubs in the State have shorter seasons we have changed the subscription schedules to reflect this. Members of clubs which operate for only six months will pay a reduced fee. Junior fees have also been reduced. All other fees have been increased in a long overdue catch-up to provide the organisation with the revenue necessary to provide the services considered essential to the wellbeing of clubs and members of this state. We are grateful for the continued diligence of our Finance Manager, Margaretann Burgess, CEO Chris Luz- Raymond, and committee members David Manning and Bill Klaebe. All have contributed greatly to the prudent execution of the budget and successful financial outcome for the Association. 10 Country Committee Report The Country Committee met twice during the year after the 2014 Annual General Meeting and the mid-year Delegates meeting in May. I thank these Committee Members for attending these meetings and contributing to the future of golf in South Australia. Unfortunately for various reasons I was unable to attend all 8 Country AGMs. Thanks to Tony Bourne (Chair Golf SA) Bill Klaebe (Board Member) and Chris Luz-Raymond (CEO) Golf SA was able to be represented at these AGMs. Congratulations to Hamley Bridge, Burra and Wirrabara Golf Clubs on achieving 100 years. Port Lincoln will be celebrating its Centenary in October Men s Country Week was again held at Royal Adelaide, Kooyonga, The Grange, Glenelg and Adelaide Shores. Thank you to those clubs and members for allowing their courses to be available. Although there was a small increase in the number of participants (101 compared to 91) it has become necessary to change the format and program for future Country Weeks, due to some courses being unavailable in year The major program alteration is the Country Championship being included in the State Amateur Championship. taking the opportunity to make it a family holiday. Consequently there was a full field to ensure that the event was a success. Thanks to the members of the Kingscote Golf Club for organising the event and ensuring that all who attended and their families had an enjoyable time whilst on the island. In closing my report I wish to thank the many back ground support people who quietly do whatever is necessary to ensure that all events run smoothly and are a success. These supporters include all Golf SA office staff, Country host Clubs and their respective members, Event Officials and Team Managers. David Manning Chair Country Committee Women s 70th Country Meeting participation remained high with the various events held at Wallaroo (Silver), Balaklava (Bronze Salver), Port Augusta (Bronze Shield) and Bordertown (Bronze Plate). The inaugural District Pennants Competition was hosted by the Barmera Golf Club. All 8 Country Districts entered teams of 5 Men & 3 Women to make this inaugural event a success. The Southern Group was the overall winning District with the Riverland District runners up. In Division A, Yorke Peninsula won the men s section with South East winning the women s. In Division B the men s winners were Riverland and women s were Southern District. Many thanks to Neville McPherson and his team of helpers for making all players feel at home. Country Men s Champion Tim Atze Country Men s State Team was captained by the State Country Men s Champion Tim Atze of Pinnaroo. The 8 man team, which included two junior golfers, travelled to Naracoorte for the 26th annual match against the Victorian Men s Country team. Unfortunately, despite playing good golf, our team went down 11 ½ to 4 ½. Peter Howard was again the team manager and was ably assisted by Dr Ian McInnes who was attending his 26th and final SA vs Vic Country Interstate match. Thanks Ian for your assistance and efforts in promoting this event over the past 26 years. Sand Greens Championship 2014 was held at Kingscote, Kangaroo Island with many country golfers Country Women s Champion Deb Christie 8

Technical Committee Report The Course Rating Sub-Committee has noticed and applauded a trend appearing for clubs to offer extra courses for their players, whether a forward tee option such as a White or Red course to vary the golf experience for its members, or a short course for beginners. We are actively encouraging any club that runs a junior program to consider having a short course set out and rated for beginner golfers, as anything that helps new golfers to enjoy their first experiences in the game, or allows older golfers to keep playing the game, is good for our sport. Having a completely new short course rated will cost a club very little, as a tee does not need much special preparation. To allow a new player to gain a handicap, or an existing golfer to maintain a handicap, the course must be at least 2,750 metres long, and have at least two holes long enough for a scratch golfer to use a driver. Golf Australia has recently informed its Member Associations that re-rating of existing golf courses at regular intervals will now not be necessary, as information on irregularities and anomalies will be obtained from Golf Link records. The only course rating now needing to be done is when there are new holes constructed, or substantial changes to existing holes. All of us on the Rules Sub-Committee are interested in maintaining current skills, so invitations to assist in rules and refereeing at high-level tournaments are welcomed. Some of us worked at the Australian Open, the PGA, and the Women s Australian Open, as well as our own State events. In February this year, I was invited to be one of two Australian delegates to the Tournament and Referees School held at St Andrews, Scotland. There were 94 delegates from 64 countries around the world where golfers play using the R&A Rules of Golf. Some of the delegates were representing countries with millions of golfers, while others were representing one golf course with a few dozen members. We all met for lectures, presentations and rules role-playing situations over four days, with an exam which we all found challenging, but which must have been particularly difficult for those delegates whose first language was not English. This year, Golf SA ran two Club Level Rules Seminars at its headquarters at North Adelaide, for a lecture and presentation on one week night, with practice exam papers given out, followed by a discussion of the questions on the following week. Delegates are then issued with a password to allow them to sit an on-line rules exam at a time of their choosing. 19 people sat the exam and 15 passed, and their names will be added to the register of qualified rules officials who may assist Golf SA in the running of its tournaments and events. We also conducted four Level 1 Seminars, both at North Adelaide and at other venues at the request of clubs and organisations. These are a good introduction to the Rules and can lead to a golfer wanting to take his interest in the rules to a higher level. The new Australian Handicap System introduced in January 2014, along with the new concepts of the Daily Scratch Rating, Slope, the Stableford Handicapping adjustment and the new method of handling nine-hole scores are well bedded down and are better understood by everyday golfers. There were a lot of new concepts to absorb and we received many queries on the operation of elements of the system, but after 18 months, those handicap golfers who play their golf at different courses now seem to be enjoying the concept of more handicap strokes at the more demanding courses. Players who play all of their golf at one course are probably wondering what all the fuss was about, as they are very little affected by the new system. Golf Australia continues to monitor the Golf Link results of the nearly ten million rounds of competition golf played since January 2014 and has published the results of its observations. The Chair of Technical and the Golf SA Competitions Manager attended a Forum in Melbourne where future improvements to the Golf Link site for players were signalled. An interesting aspect of the Technical portfolio is receiving rules queries from clubs and from individual golfers. Some of the situations described match any of those in the Decisions Book and we learn a lot in answering them. It has been an interesting and productive year, and I personally thank the members of the Rules and Handicapping, and the Course Ratings Sub-Committees, and staff at Golf SA, for their input and help. Susan Seja Chair Technical Committee Nationally Accredited Rules Officials Tony Bourne and Bob Crosby 9

High Performance Committee Report The Golf SA HP Program The Golf SA High Performance Program aims to provide talented golfers with a development pathway to achieve their goals especially for those who aspire to the top level of national amateur or professional golf. The program is run as part of a National High Performance Program overseen by Brad James, Golf Australia High Performance Director. Since the appointment by Golf Australia of Gareth Jones as Golf Australia State Coach in July 2011, the HP Program has been a work in progress and evolution. With ongoing player development, the program has continued to change and the emphasis for selection has also evolved, placing more, but not total, emphasis on those moving from junior to senior ranks. For 2014/15 Tier 1 and Tier 2 squads were chosen for Men and Women which allowed maximum use of resources. For 2015/16 a decision has been taken to combine the Tier 1 squads for Men and Women which will enable provision of more sessions to those in Tier 1 without affecting the level of service provided to our Tier 2 players. A separate Talent ID program continues to serve as feeder program for the HP squads. High Performance Service Providers The coaching panel is headed by Gareth Jones, State Coach, assisted by Jamie Clutterham, Women s Coach and Alan Telford, Talent ID Coach. The squads continue to be well serviced by our other providers at the State Level: Ryan Lumsden (Biomechanics) Greg Rosenbauer (Physiotherapy) Rosie Stanimirovic (Sports Psychology) and Michael Riggs (Strength and Conditioning) The consolidation of our service providers at the Unley Physiotherapy Centre has continued to allow much better coordination of the provision of our services. Golf SA has been very pleased to learn that our state Coach, Gareth Jones has recently been appointed to the part time position of Head Coach for Japan Golf. This is wonderful recognition of the esteem in which he is held among his peers. National Rankings and Representations South Australia currently has several players ranked in the top 60 of various national ranking categories. Men 39 Matthew Lisk 40 Jack Williams 57 Josh Hayes Women 8 Jenny Lee 29 Caitlin Roberts 50 Cassidy Evreniadis 59 Elysia Yap Boys 22 Lachlan Barker 30 Will Starkey 35 Liam Georgiadis 38 Ben Tucker 39 Billy Cawthorne 58 Liam Kennewell 60 Joseph Hodgson Congratulations are extended to Antonio Murdaca who won the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship held at Royal Melbourne in November and thus qualified for a start in the Masters Championship held at Augusta in April. National Championships In the Men s event, none of our players qualified for the match play section. Jenny Lee was our only player to make the match play section of the Australian Women s Championship, qualifying in 15th position, but lost in the first round. The Australian Boy s Championship was played at Kooyonga. Five of our six state team members (Joseph Hodgson, Billy Cawthorne, Lachlan Barker, Travis Miller and Liam Georgiadis) made the cut after 36 holes with Jack Thompson unfortunately missing the cut by one stroke. It was pleasing to see young junior Frank Vucic also make the cut. Joe Hodgson had the best finish in 25th place. In the Girl s event held at Tea Tree Gully Golf Club, Cassidy Evreniadis led the way finishing 9th, with Ella Adams 17th and Kristalle Blum 29th. Matilda Wheare 32nd and Emma Sutton 43rd also finished in the top 50. State Teams Girls 16 Ella Adams 24 Cassidy Evreniadis 28 Kristalle Blum 39 Jin-young Yun 41 Emma Sutton The Men s State team travelled to the Huntingdale Golf Club in Victoria for this year s Interstate Teams Matches. There were three new faces in the team: Sam Earl with both Josh Hayes and Lachlan Barker moving up from the junior ranks. Unfortunately the results were far from our expectation, recording only one win and a halved match in the preliminary rounds. The team lifted in the play off with a victory over Tasmania to finish fifth in the seven team competition. The Women s Interstate Teams Matches were played on the East Course at Royal Melbourne Golf Club. The highlight of the series was a 4-1 victory over the much more highly fancied NSW team thus putting the team into the play off for 3rd position for the first time in several years. Unfortunately, Queensland won a close contest 3½ to 2½. The Australian Boys Interstate Teams matches were played at The Links Lady Bay Golf Club. The series 10

High Performance Committee Report started slowly with losses to Victoria and Queensland on Day 1, followed by a halved match against Western Australia. The boys then found their true form and won their final four matches convincingly, including a very satisfying 3½ - 1½ victory over NSW to climb up the ladder into fourth place. The Australian Girls Interstate Teams matches were played at Fleurieu Golf Club and expectations were high given the local knowledge that had been gained during preparation. Unfortunately, it could be fairly said that the girls did not show their true level of ability and again the team finished in fifth position. It was nevertheless very pleasing to see how much better those team members that were selected in the Women s team played a few weeks later in Victoria. Conclusion My thanks are extended to the other members of the HP Committee: Bob Crosby, Deb Christie and Karen Simmonds, together with the coaching panel of Gareth Jones, Jamie Clutterham and Alan Telford. Thanks also to the CEO and Office Staff for their assistance during the year. Special thanks to Margaretann Burgess who managed the huge task of making the travel and accommodation arrangements for the Interstate team Series. Tony Bourne Chair High Performance Committee Srixon Sponsorship Golf SA remains indebted to Srixon which supports the HP program in the form of consumables for the squad members and golf bags for the Interstate Teams. 15 Golf and Junior Development Report Growing golf and junior golf in South Australia is vital to its continued success state-wide. The Golf SA participation plan is closely linked to the national plan with key results areas being MyGolf, casual golf, club support, female participation and Playgolf WEEK. MyGolf The National MyGolf Program continues to be a focus to grow junior numbers at the key introductory age of 5-12 years old. Throughout 2014/15, Golf SA has worked with 31 clubs throughout the state to assist with setting up their MyGolf Programs. Further club support will be provided to continue to work with clubs to establish successful programs to ensure future development of the game. State-wide the total number of Junior Club Members is 729 (87% boys/13% girls). Golf SA also continues to work closely with schools to establish golf programs. Throughout the year we have seen the MyGolf program delivered to over 8,000 students, predominately primary school students. There are currently 136 Primary Schools and 25 Secondary Schools with MyGolf kits. Junior Events Junior development also encompasses a broad range of activities and events across the golfing calendar. School events including the Primary Schools Golf Carnival (formally SAPSASA) continues to grow with 8 Country and 7 Metro Qualifying events being held in Golf SA continues to work with schools and clubs to build relationships with PE Teachers to assist with growing participation in the school yard. For a third year in a row, the Mary Cudmore - Girls into Golf Camp was held over three days at Scotch College. By all accounts the 22 girls who participated had a fantastic golf experience under the guidance and coaching of Susie Mathews (LPGA), Sarah Norris (PGA) and Elysia Yap (CGC). This initiative is aimed at encouraging junior girls to improve their golf skills and will continually be developed. Community Instructors The accreditation process has been under review the past 12 months with Golf Australia consulting with the PGA and Australian Sports Commission. A new online accreditation process has now been launched with all current Community Coaches given the opportunity to gain accreditation under the Community Instructor title. Playgolf Week Building on the success of previous years, in 2014 Golf SA implemented Playgolf WEEK to raise awareness and participation of golf. In conjunction with Golf Australia the national promotion was run from Mon 17 November - Sun 23 November South Australian Golf Clubs, including 17 metropolitan and 21 regional Clubs participated in the campaign. Each club was encouraged to hold a range of activities for their local communities. It was encouraging to see so many clubs involved and particularly those that held innovative promotions to gain further attention in their community. Golf SA encourages all clubs to mark the dates into their annual calendars to continue to build on the success of this promotional period in 2015 and beyond. Participation Programs Golf SA continues to align with Golf Australia s national programs as they evolve saw the launch of Qantas Golf Club targeted at Social Golf Participation. In , we are looking forward to the launch of SwingFit, the national Women s participation program, and we will continue to work with clubs to roll this out. Thank You Thank you to the committee for your time, efforts and energy throughout the year. Also a huge thank you to the Golf SA team, in particular Allan Telford (Development Coach) and Christian Puccini (Communications and Development Manager) for their hard work and continued support in growing our game. Josie Hodge Chair Golf & Junior Development A number of practical training sessions were conducted by the Golf Development Team in metro and regional areas. Currently there are 102 accredited Community Coaches in SA. 13

SA Golf Industry Hall of Fame At the South Australian Golf Industry Awards Night in October 2011 the inaugural members were inducted into the South Australian Golf HALL OF FAME. At the 2014 SA Golf Industry Awards Night held at the Adelaide Oval on the evening of Saturday 26 October, Bob Stevens was inducted to become the tenth member of the SA Golf Hall of Fame. The primary requirement for selection as a Hall of Fame Member is high level achievement from personal effort or initiative, in a field of endeavour that contributes to the performances of professional or amateur players, the development of facilities and clubs or to the development and status of the golf industry in South Australia. Nominees should have made a major contribution, either past or present at the international, national or Club level to the game of golf generally. Rhonda Watson 11 Jane Crafter 11 Murray Crafter 11 Bob Tuohy 11 John Crosby 11 Pauline Sanderson 12 David Cherry 12 Peter Howard 13 Bay McDonald 13 Bob Stevens 14 Bob Stevens Robert Francis Bob Stevens was born in Adelaide on 2nd October 1928 and around 8 years of age, took to playing golf at the Glenelg Golf Club. In 1946 he won the Junior Championship of South Australia and went on to compile an outstanding golfing resume. Bob was an amazing player, winning three SA Amateur titles in (53, 59, 61 ), the Australian Amateur Championship in (52 ) and in 1954 aged 25 he won his fourth and final SA Open title. His previous wins were in (48, 52, 53 ). In 1958 Bob was Captain of the Australian team at the inaugural World Amateur Team Championships for the Eisenhower Trophy played at St Andrews, in which Australian defeated America. The last time the Americans had been defeated in an international event was in the Walker Cup 20 years prior in The win was said to boost Australia s golf image immeasurably. In 1959 Bob was elected a member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. In 1961 he completed ten years as a member, twice as Captain of the Australian Team, during which Australian was defeated only once, in By 1963 Bob had completed eighteen years as a member, frequently as Captain of the Glenelg Simpson Cup Team. He won three Simpson Cup titles and was a part of Glenelg s first title in Bob was selected for the South Australian State Team 18 times and was Captain of the side on numerous occasions. He was Captain in 1962 when the SA Men s Team claimed the National Title. In 1966 Bob resigned as Vice-President of SAGA and moved to Sydney with his young family, setting up a successful business in the packaging industry. As a post script in 1978, Bob was talked into playing in the Australian Amateur Championship, after 15 years absence and reached the quarter finals at the age of 50..he was some player. Bob s motto, in anything he undertook, was remember where the victory lies - in the struggle not the prize. 15

The committee members responsibility also includes such internal control as the committee members determine is necessary to enable the preparation and fair presentation of a financial report that is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error. Auditor s Responsibility Our responsibility is to express an opinion on the financial report based on our audit. We have conducted our audit in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards. Those standards require that we comply with relevant ethical requirements relating to audit engagements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance whether the financial report is free from material misstatement. An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial report. The procedures selected depend on the auditor s judgement, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial report, whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal control relevant to the entity s preparation and fair presentation of the financial report in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the entity s internal control. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of accounting estimates made by the committee members, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the financial report. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion. Independence In conducting our audit, we have complied with the independence requirements of the Australian professional accounting bodies.
