8 The golf course is in excellent condition as we have been able to open the course sooner than any year in recent history. Carts are now running and the golf shop will open on days in March when the forecasted temperature is 50 degrees or higher. The golf shop will be open 7 days a week beginning on April 1st. The removal of the ash trees throughout the golf course is well under way. We had over 120 trees affected by the Emerald Ash Borer which has killed all of these trees. Andy Weadge, our Golf Course Superintendent and his staff have completed over 100 of the trees throughout this winter and will continue to remove the remaining trees as the season progresses. Most of the trees that were removed will go unnoticed and not in play by most players, the exceptions would be on holes 2 (left near creek bank). hole 12 (near base of hill), hole 14 (along creek bank), hole 15 (left side over the creek) and hole 17 (greenside). We will be planting many replacement trees this spring and will continue to add more plantings in upcoming seasons. The spring cleanup of the downed trees, stump grinding and seeding of these areas is ongoing Golf Carts are currently available in the golf shop based on weather and course conditions. We do host a few outings on non- Monday weekdays as well as a few weekend golf outings. These outings are posted in the club newsletter and calendar to allow the membership a chance to prepare for alternate plans. Most of the outings use shotgun starts for their events. These events do not usually close the course for the entire day, which does allow member play during parts of these days. Contact the golf shop for more details on outings specifics.
