2 Club News Please welcome Jeffrey T. Keeler as the new General Manager of DCC. Jeffrey is thrilled to join our team. He wants to do all he can to help make the club the very best it can be. He has a diverse background: A graduate from Georgia State University; he has worked at such places as The Little Nell Hotel in Aspen; The Lodge at Pebble Beach in Pebble Beach, CA; and Cherokee Town & County Club in Atlanta, GA. Jeffrey is a class A PGA professional, a P-1 USPTA tennis professional, and a member of the Club Managers Association of America. He is passionate about food and wine and will be offering some wine education classes and maybe even a trip to Napa Valley to the members. He plans on being very visible around the club and become an active part of the Albany community. Also Low Prices on our stocked equipment. Well, what began as a warm, dry December, ended as a cold and wet one. But we can definitely use the rain (almost 4 inches in the last 3 weeks). The golf course kept most of its green color through the holidays, but with these much colder temperatures, we should see the tees and fairways start to go dormant. The color on the greens will fluctuate as the air temperatures continue to fluctuate through the winter season. The maintenance staff continues their winter time work: leaf cleanup, tree pruning, flower bed cleanup, and painting of all accessories on the course. We will begin removing the dead pine trees throughout the golf course this month, and will also grind all the stumps that remain from the trees that were removed over the last year. The new short game practice area is now open. The green is not 100% grown in, but it is suitable for practice. The practice green outside of the pro shop is now for putting only. All chipping and pitching should be done around the new green and bunker next to the practice tee. Shot of the Month Ed Cassity is a year older buy his golf game has not changed. On December 9th he shot his age again at 78. Nicolas Sanchez Employee Spotlight: -2 years on the Doublegate maintenance staff. -Can run all equipment on the golf course. -Prior to Doublegate he spent 2 years at Sea Palms, and 6 years at Sea Island. -Nick s first job in the U.S. was working in the orange groves in Florida. -He is originally from Vera Cruz, Mexico. He has been in the U.S. for 12 years. -Nick has a wife and 3 children that he spends all of his free time with. Golfers, say hello to Nick when you see him working out on the golf course.
