Eight of the largest golf manufacturers (Titleist, FootJoy, TaylorMade, Ping, Golf Buddy, Maui Jim Sunglasses, Cobra, and Callaway) will be showcasing their newest equipment, along with ball and club fitting experts ensuring that golfers are playing with the proper equipment. Over 500 golfers are expected to attend Northwest Arkansas largest Demo Day. Along with the vendors merchandise, the Golf Fest will feature free golf clinics, a putting contest, hitting complimentary range balls, and drawings for prizes. Additionally, guests will experience the latest launch monitors, get to trade in old clubs and shop one-day sales at Bella Vista s five Golf Pro Shops. 4 Recreation News & Updates Blowing Springs and RV Campground Update Work will soon get underway on a number of projects at Blowing Springs and will continue throughout the spring. The upper RV Park will have an upgrade to 50 amp service and sewer connections and is now closed for the spring so the work can be completed. The restrooms in the back of the park near the amphitheater/ picnic area and The Back 40 Trailhead will be renovated to include year-round service, and the office building at the entrance of the park will be renovated. We re also excited to announce that the large bridge on the lower south side trail has been replaced with a new bridge that will last for years of trail enjoyment. Staging will be limited to one day and only during weekdays this spring due to the work being done in the park. We reserve the right to decline any staging requests if the lower park is filled or has heavy reservations. Spring Bazaar Saturday April 21 Riordan Hall, 3 Riordan Dr Join us for our Spring Bazaar at Riordan Hall, Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. Free Admission to all! Up to 50 artisan vendors will be displaying and selling their hand-made items such as jewelry, stained glass, paintings, candles, specialty soaps, needlework, woodcarvings, collectibles and so much more. This bazaar will be a wonderful opportunity to shop the wares of many talented local artisans. Kids Summer Activity Sign-up Day - Saturday, April 21 Riordan Hall, 3 Riordan Dr Interested in registering your children or grandchildren for youth swim lessons, Bella Vista swim team, or tennis camp this summer? Mark Saturday, April 21 on your calendars and plan to attend Bella Vista POA Kids Summer Activity Sign-Up Day at Riordan Hall from 9 a.m. Noon. Outdoor pool/beach passes and adult water fitness class punch cards will also be available for purchase at this time. Youth swim lesson sessions fill up quickly so plan to attend. NEW OZ Trails T-shirts & Caps at Blowing Springs Blowing Springs Park is one of the exclusive retailers for these cool accessories. T-shirts and caps are available for $30 plus tax and beanies are $25 plus tax. Several t-shirt designs are available in Men s & Women s sizes. A portion of these sales help support the trails. Stop by the office at Blowing Springs Park Monday Saturday 10 a.m. 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. 1 p.m. Bella Vista Recreational Swim Team Bella Vista Recreational Swim Team, the Stingrays, will meet at Kingsdale Outdoor Pool for two, 3-week sessions this summer. Coach Lisa Richards is returning for her 6th season with the Stingrays. Session 1: Tuesday, May 29 through Thursday, June 14 Session 2: Monday, July 9 through July 26 Children are invited to join one or both sessions. All swimmers will practice mornings: year old swimmers will begin at 8 a.m.; 7 10 year olds begin at 9 a.m.; and 5 6 year olds will begin at 10 a.m. Swim team participants are required to be able to swim free style a minimum of 25 yards without stopping. Kingsdale Pool will host two swim meets this summer and several other meet opportunities have been scheduled at area pools in Bentonville, Rogers and Pinnacle. Meet participation is not required, but encouraged. A swim team parent informational meeting will be held at Riordan Hall on Thursday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m., optional swim suits can also be ordered at this meeting. 5 Sporting News & Updates Aquaculture Aquaculture season is upon us. So far, we have removed wild fish from 4 golf course ponds to be used for fish culture. Recent rains did not cause inundation of these ponds by Little Sugar Creek. Black crappie broodstock have been placed in 2 of the ponds; these fish will spawn in ponds on their own in a month or so. The other 2 ponds will be reserved for walleye. Broodstock harvest has begun and will continue over the next few weeks. These fish will be artificially spawned at the makeshift hatchery in the Avalon heated fishing dock. Please look for future announcements of public events that demonstrate the operation of the fish hatchery. The Beach at Lake Avalon Work at the beach is progressing on schedule. All work below the normal waterline was completed before the lake was allowed to refill. The first of the white sand is down. Some minor washing of sand has occurred with the recent rains, but will be repaired when the area dries out. Fencing will be put in place over the next month and then the beach volleyball court will be constructed. A few surprises are still in store that will make the area fun for all ages. Grand Opening - May 26. Kids Fishing Derby On May 27th there will be a kids fishing derby at Lake Ann Park on Windermere Ln. from 8 a.m. Noon. Channel catfish will be placed behind a block net so that they can be easily fished during the event. The Derby is open to children 3 15 years of age. Children and parents providing assistance do not need an Arkansas fishing license. Participants are asked to bring their own bait and tackle. Additional activities will be available. Heroes on the Water The local chapter of Heroes on the Water will be holding events on Lake Norwood this year in April and July. The first event will happen on April 28th beginning at 9:00 a.m. Participants will spend the morning paddling and fishing before returning to shore for lunch. Heroes on the Water is a nonprofit organization that seeks to introduce wounded veterans to kayaking and fishing. The local chapter is in its 4th year. The Bella Vista POA is proud to host these events. We hope to have residents from the community come by to offer support during the event. Loch Lomond Marina The addition of 16 covered slips is well underway on C-Dock at Loch Lomond. Now that the lake is at full pool, we kindly ask that those that were granted free slips at the marina to accommodate the drawdown, please return boats to their home dock or trailer them as soon as possible, bringing the gate key back to Member Services. We anticipate a large amount of shuffling of boat slips this spring and we need to have those slips open as soon as possible. Canoe and Kayak Shoreline Mooring Canoe and Kayak shoreline mooring is currently available for rent at Loch Lomond, Lake Windsor, Lake Ann, Lake Avalon and Lake Norwood. Racks have limited space at each location and will begin to fill up as the weather gets warmer. The rental fee is $67.00 for the year; for more information or to reserve a space please call Member Services at ( Spring Storm Season Spring is nearly here and with it comes the storm season. The Lakes department reminds all residents to check to ensure your watercraft is properly secured. Conditions can change rapidly this time of year and high winds and changing lake levels can cause your boat, kayak or canoe to come untied. Check that all registration stickers are up to date. When lost watercraft are retrieved on our lakes, the Bella Vista Identification number may be the only way we have to track who the craft belongs to and return it to the rightful owner. Kayak Demo Days On June 2nd, Ozark Mountain Trading Company will be holding their annual Kayak Demo Days. This year it will take place at the Lake Ann Park from 10:00 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m. Representatives from the top manufacturers will be on hand to answer questions as well as experts from Ozark Mountain Trading Company. Come prepared to test products and get wet. Rifle and Pistol Range Closings The Highlands Rifle and Pistol Range will be closed Wednesday April 18 and Thursday April 19 to allow for Spring Police training and qualification. The Pistol range will close at 2 pm on March 11, March 25, April 8 and April 22 to accommodate concealed carry classes. The Rifle Range shall remain open for regular hours. 6 Member Services Registration & Renewal Programs ( option 2) Golf Assurance Program The Golf Assurance Program (GAP) is an option that may be purchased with your Annual Golf Green Fees (AGGF) at a flat rate of $145. When you purchase an AGGF and elect the GAP option, if you become injured or ill, you can suspend your AGGF and corresponding Seat Lease or Private Cart Registration for up to six months. As soon as you are able to play golf again or after six months, whichever comes first, your AGGF and corresponding Seat Lease or Private Cart Registration will be reinstated. Program good until used.
