Each one will feature a new, unique menu and will have coordinating décor and entertainment. We will travel to the Mediterranean in January, a region that is well known for its fresh grown vegetables and bountiful seafood, accented with olives and olive oil from their indigenous olive trees. CHATEAU MEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION The Chateau Men s Golf Association is a great opportunity for members to participate in tournaments and meet other members. The Chateau MGA sponsors several Men s golf events throughout the year. The events are usually $35 per person to play and are usually Saturday morning 8am shotgun starts and include breakfast before play and lunch and awards after play. The MGA also sponsors 4 twilight golf 9 hole events during the summer months. These events are usually held on Wednesday evenings and are a 5:30pm shotgun start. The entry fee is $20 and includes prizes for the winners and dinner from the always outstanding Wednesday night buffet at the club. The MGA also awards $500 to any MGA member who makes a hole in one and meets the MGA hole in one requirements throughout the year. How much to join? A reasonable fee of $75 for the year!!! VIP Club.New for 2018 CHATEAU MEMBER S PREFERRED SHOPPERS CLUB In 2018 a Golf Pro Shop Shoppers Club will be offered to Chateau Member s. The annual fee to join will be $300 + tax. Members of the shoppers club will receive the following benefits: 15 % Discounts on all merchandise purchases for % Discount on Featured Item of the month (Not in addition to the regular yearly discount. Each month a selected item will be featured and purchases of that item will be at discounted more than the annual percentage. Example one month golf balls, one month golf gloves, one month headwear,apparel,clubs, shoes etc.). 3 Happy Hour shopping nights during the year. Three times during the year the golf shop will stay open late with new merchandise arrivals for shopping club members only to have first opportunity at purchases as new merchandise arrives. Cocktails and appetizers will also be served. Black Friday Shopping Night / Party The Golf Shop will stay open late on the Friday after Thanksgiving to give shopping club members first opportunity at Holiday purchases before the regular Pro Shop Christmas Sale night. A NOTE FROM THE COURSE SUPER Dear Members, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the members of Chateau Golf and Country Club and to express how excited I m to be your new Golf Course Superintendent. My name is Gary McCulla and I m a native New Orleanian, a graduate of Holy Cross and raised in the Bywater and Metairie. I received a B.S. degree in Agronomy with an emphasis in Turfgrass Management from Mississippi State University. My previous Golf Course Superintendent experience includes Barton Creek Resort and Country Club and Metairie Country Club. During my tenure at Barton Creek I achieved and maintained the #1 ranked (Fazio) and #23 ranked (Crenshaw-Coore) in the state of Texas and achieved Top 50 recognition in the United States for the Fazio Golf Course. At Metairie Country Club I helped organized and spearheaded a 4.75 million dollar golf course full renovation and put systems in place to improve the overall condition and maintain operation of the golf course. For the last 12 years I built a successful Turf/Horticultural business in the private sector that enabled me to sell the business. I m blessed to be happily married for 20 years to my wife Kathleen Low McCulla, a native of Lafayette, and have 3 wonderful children Nola, a junior at Mt.Carmel; Mac, a sophomore at Holy Cross and Ella, a fifth grader at St. Catherine of Siena. I look forward to meeting everyone at the club throughout 2018 as my staff and I will be making positive adjustments and changes to the golf course and club grounds throughout the year. Before you go watch the Saints defeat the Patriots in the Super Bowl (bear in mind this was written on 12/19/17), come out for some Pickleball to get the day started. For those of you who have not yet played, I promise it s a blast. It takes about minutes to get the feel of it, but then it s really addictive. Also, for you tennis players, it is probably the best game I have found to improve your volleys on the tennis court. HAPPY 2018, TENNIS PLAYERS!!! Our pro-shop has racquets (Head), grips, string, balls, hats, etc. We carry Head racquets exclusively but can order other racquets, if you prefer another brand. We also carry Powerade, soft drinks, beer, and wine to enjoy before, during, and after you play. The end of the year is always such as hectic time with the holidays, taxes, insurances and other business and it s easy to get caught up in work and forget what a special time of the year it really is. It s a time to spend time with your families during the holidays, visit with friends, celebrate and most importantly, plan to make the following year even better than the previous year and I think that is really exciting! Aside from a few personal resolutions, my staff and I are striving to make Chateau even better than it has been! We are working hard to think of new, innovative events and ideas to keep things interesting and fun at Chateau. Like our Around the World Dinners, Night Glow Golf, Wine Down Wednesdays, and more! We don t want Chateau to be the place where you only play golf or you only come to meet your minimum we want all of our members to come here for multiple reasons because they ENJOY it! If there is something you would like to see regarding menus or events, or another suggestion, please feel free to let me or Stacey know! Of course, we are still working on repairing dining room chairs, replacing golf cart batteries and tires, the pump station, broken ice machines, etc. We want to maximize the amount of time you spend at Chateau. Also, please make sure to tell your friends or neighbors about some of the things we do at Chateau we always welcome new members to our Club!
