1 TOMBALL COUNTRY CLUB RULES GOVERNING THE USE OF THE CLUBHOUSE, PAVILION, AND GOLF COURSE ANY PERSON ENTERING THE PREMISES OF TOMBALL COUNTRY CLUB DOES SO WITH THE KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT THAT THE CLUB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY THEFT, ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT MAY OCCUR. CLUBHOUSE The clubhouse is open from 8:00 a.m. until half an hour after sunset, Tuesday through Sunday. It is closed on Monday unless Monday is a designated public holiday on which the Board has determined the clubhouse will be open. In that case, the clubhouse will be closed the following Tuesday. Pro Shop employees and management personnel ONLY are permitted behind the counter. The Director of Golf is instructed to enforce this rule. PAVILION Members may make arrangements to rent the pavilion for private functions. It will be necessary to make this request through the Director of Golf who will bring the request to the Board for approval. Members wishing to use the pavilion will need to complete a rental agreement form available from the Director of Golf. GOLF COURSE The golf course will be open Tuesday through Sunday, and closed on Mondays. If Monday is a designated public holiday on which the Board has determined the course will be open, the course will be open on that day and closed the following Tuesday. Members on suspension are prohibited from use of all club facilities. I. GENERAL A. Each player must sign in at the Pro Shop before starting play or as soon thereafter as possible. B. Each player, including children, must have his/her own golf bag and clubs. C. Proper shoes (golf or tennis) are required no metal spikes. Revised 2014

2 D. Appropriate golf attire must be worn when on the golf course. Muscle shirts, halter-tops, tank tops, tee shirts, and cut-offs are not acceptable. Members are responsible for ensuring the proper attire of children and guests. E. Motorized golf carts must follow the 90 rule whenever leaving the cart path. F. When course conditions require a designation of Cart Path Only, all carts (motorized carts and pull carts) shall be restricted to the cart paths. G. Only beer or wine purchased from the Pro Shop is allowed on the course. Outside beer or wine is in violation of the liquor license. H. Golf shall be played by current USGA rules. I. The use of range balls is limited to the practice area only. J. Players may retrieve their own ball from the lakes; however Tomball Country Club has the exclusive right to the recovery of all other lost balls in the lakes. K. Drinking cups, cans, and other litter are to be deposited in the trash receptacles provided by the club. L. Dogs and other pets are not permitted on club property during operating hours. M. Fishing is not permitted during operating hours. N. Weapons of any type, e.g., firearms, air guns, bows and arrows, explosives, including fireworks, etc., are not permitted on club property except by special permission of the Board of Directors. II. ETIQUETTE A. Abusive, loud or profane language will not be tolerated on Club property. B. Restrooms are provided and should be utilized to the maximum extent possible. Members shall use the utmost discretion when use of restrooms is not feasible. C. In the interest of all concerned, players should play without delay. D. No person should hit until the players in front are out of range. E. Through the green, players should ensure that any turf cut or displaced by him/her is replaced by sand. F. Damage to the putting surface caused by a ball should be repaired upon arrival at the green. 2

3 G. Before leaving a bunker, players should carefully fill up and rake over all holes and footprints. III. RIGHT OF WAY AND RULES OF PLAY A. All groups must tee off from hole #1 and play consecutively thereafter. Permission must be obtained from the Director of Golf or his/her designee to tee off from any other hole. If permission to tee off on another hole is granted, play must proceed through the remaining holes consecutively. B. All groups must allow faster players to play through if there is an open hole in front. C. A foursome is the preferred format on weekends and busy periods of play. Single players and groups of 2, 3, 5, or 6 are permitted during these times only with the prior permission of the Director of Golf or his/her designee. D. Players searching for a lost ball may not hold up play. If an open hole exists in front of these players, they must allow the group behind them to play through. IV. MOTORIZED AND PULL CARTS A. All motorized carts operated on Tomball Country Club property are to be driven only by persons with a valid driver s license. B. No cart of any type shall be driven or pulled within thirty yards (90 feet) of any edge of the greens or tee boxes except on cart paths. C. No motorized carts shall be allowed on the fairways of par 3 holes. D. No member or guest may use the private cart of another member without that member being present, except during scheduled events, with the approval of the Director of Golf. E. Only those members whose names appear on the cart stall list may park their carts in their assigned stall. F. Members on the cart plan are entitled to the use of one cart only. Additional carts must be rented at the regular rate. G. Privately owned carts: 1. Any new private carts brought into the club must have prior approval of the Greens Committee with respect to appearance and tire tread. Members will submit a photo of the new cart to the Greens Committee for approval prior to purchasing/bringing the cart to the club. 3

4 2. Any new tires (with the exception of standard golf cart tires) must be approved by the Greens Committee. A standard to follow with respect to cart width (including tires) should be a maximum of 45 to 48 inches. Members will submit a photo or other schematic of the tires for approval prior to purchasing/bringing the tires to the club. V. COURSE CONDITION It shall be the responsibility of the Director of Golf, the Greens Superintendent, or their designee to declare the course closed if inclement weather has made it unplayable. He/She is further authorized to restrict cart use to the cart paths if the course is too wet for cart traffic. All players must be responsible for reading and observing any and all course condition signs prior to and during play. VI. GUESTS AND FEES A. Non-Resident Guests (not residents of Harris or Montgomery Counties): 1. All guests must be invited and accompanied by a member of Tomball Country Club except for the following: a. A member of a country club recognized by the USGA outside of Harris or Montgomery County, Texas would be extended course privileges subject to the approval of the Director of Golf and the payment of all applicable guest fees and cart rental fees. 2. Members must register all guests. All fees must be paid prior to beginning the round. 3. Visiting guest. A temporary playing privilege valid for a duration of two weeks as follows: a. A member may use this plan for two guests per year. b. The fee will be fifty dollars ($50.00) per guest for the two-week period, which must be paid prior to playing the first round. c. Guest should be registered in advance with the Director of Golf prior to arrival. B. Resident Guests (residents of Harris or Montgomery Counties): 1. All guests must be invited and accompanied by a member. 2. Resident guests are permitted to play no more than two days per calendar month. 4

5 3. Guests must be registered by name in the Pro Shop. Fees must be paid prior to playing the first round. The accompanying member shall be responsible for the conduct of his/her guest at all times while on Tomball Country Club property. C. Special Guests: 1. The Director of Golf has the authority to permit play without payment of a guest fee for club business. 2. Prospective members may be allowed to play a round of golf without being accompanied by a member as approved by the Board of Directors or with the knowledge and approval of the Director of Golf. 3. Widowed or divorced members may invite a guest of the opposite gender to play without payment of a guest fee two days per calendar month. 4. A member may bring any of their children who are active members of the military to play without payment of guest fees. 5. Grandchildren, ages 7-12, of members may play with the member without paying guest fees. D. Children: 1. Parents shall acquaint their children with the rules of golf etiquette and shall be responsible for their actions while on Club property. 2. Children 6 years old or younger shall not be permitted on the golf course. 3. Children 7 to 10 years of age may play golf only when accompanied and supervised by an adult member. 4. Dependent adult children of resident members who are full-time students carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more at any college or university may be accorded the privileges of the Club for such periods and upon such terms as the Board of Directors may prescribe. 5. Groups of children 15 years and younger must avoid slow play and permit adult groups to play through when there is an open hole in front. 6. Student guests of children of members, age 7 through under-graduate college, may play by paying a guest fee of $5.00 per guest with a maximum of three (3) guests on weekdays only. 5

6 Consequences for Infractions of Rules* Members or employees of the Club who witness a member in violation of one or more club rules should report the violation to the Club Pro. Members shall be held responsible for the conduct of their guests. 1. The Director of Golf or his/her designee shall document the report including time, date, and specific infraction(s). The Director of Golf will give a verbal reminder to the member in violation of the rules and will document this action. 2. A second violation of the same offense shall be reported by the Director of Golf to the Board of Directors. A letter will be sent to the member stating the violations that have been reported and that further disciplinary action shall be taken if infractions continue. The letter should include an opportunity to respond to the Board in writing or in person within 15 days of receipt of said letter. 3. A third violation shall be reported by the Director of Golf to the Board of Directors, who will send a certified letter to the member requesting his/her appearance at the next Board meeting to discuss the violations. Failure to appear at the Board meeting without prior communication of just cause to any member of the Board shall constitute a fourth rules violation and will result in a suspension of membership privileges for a period of 14 to 60 days as determined by the Board. If the member appears at the Board meeting and the violations are indisputable, the member shall be given notice that a fourth report of rules violations shall result in a suspension as noted above. 4. Further infractions will result in additional disciplinary action by the Board of Directors, up to and including loss of membership. *These provisions apply to rules violations reported within a 6 month period.
