3 Golf Tournaments 101 First time organizing a golf event? Not to worry, this page covers everything from formats to recommended hole locations for popular golf contests! Read on for a crash course in planning a golf event and please, contact us with any questions or to discuss how we can create a custom event to fit your budget. Shotgun Format: A shotgun refers to a method of play in which every golfer begins at the same time but on different holes. Offered to events with 120+ players, a shotgun start provides a smooth transition into the banquet portion of your event as everyone finishes golf at the same time. Shotgun starts are offered at 8:00am or 1:30pm. Modified Shotgun Format: A modified shotgun start is advantageous to groups with 60 to 119 players who are looking for the benefits of a shotgun start but are not able to field 120+ golfers. Every golfer begins golf at the same time on a specified number of holes while public golfers finish up their back 9. Consecutive Play Format: Players begin golf with a traditional tee time start - 8 minutes apart. Scramble Format: All players hit a tee shot on every hole and then select the best shot from which to play their next shot. All players hit from this position. This method of play continues until the hole is finished. 9 Golden Eagle Golf Club Terms & Conditions Minimum of 16 players per tournament booking. 60 to 119 players per Modified Shotgun starts, 120 plus players for Full Shotgun starts. Shotgun starts 8:00 am and 1:30 pm. In the case of inclement weather, tournaments will play as scheduled unless the Superintendent deems the course unplayable. If this is the case, a new date will be scheduled for your tournament. All tournament players are responsible for their own property while on Golden Eagle Golf Club premises and their legal liability to others for bodily injury or property damage. All players should ensure that their own personal insurance is extended to provide adequate coverage. Players must abide by the Local Rules described on the score card. The Organizer will be responsible for the conduct of his/her players. Novice players should be mixed with experienced players whenever possible. Appropriate dress must be worn at all times. Torn or cut-off jeans, bathing attire of any kind, tank tops, tube or halter tops, mesh shirts or team jerseys, short shorts and sweatpants are all examples of inappropriate dress. A NON REFUNDABLE deposit of $ and a completed contract is required upon booking your event to reserve your tee times and banquet arrangements. The deposit will be credited to the balance due for you tournament. In accordance with Provincial Government Law all alcohol must be purchased at Golden Eagle Golf Club. All bags and coolers are subject to inspection. Personal alcohol will be confiscated and returned to the guest upon their departure from the property. Absolutely no coolers or other beverage storage systems may be brought onto the course. Sponsorship guidelines; all on course sponsorship must be approved by the Golf Operations Manager prior to the event. Initial Golden Eagle reserves the right to alter your tournament play to consecutive tee times if minimum players are not met. Appoint the appropriate dining space (Patio 37 - indoors or outdoors or the Banquet Room) in accordance with your lunch/dinner guest numbers. The banquet room requires a minimum of 100 lunch or dinner guests and a buffet purchase on a Saturday. Prices subject to change. Initial Power Cart booking and any damage incurred are the responsibility of the Tournament Organizer. Damage may result in additional charges. Initial 21 to 30 Days Before Event: Estimate number of guests. Select your Contests - Longest Drive (LD), Closest to the Pin (KP), Putting, Straightest Drive, Hole in Ones. Give all on-course vendor information to Golden Eagle Golf Club for approval and organize insurance. 14 Days Before Event: Estimate number of guests. Finalize menu, seating arrangements and any special dietary requests. Confirm registration set up and on-course details/requirements with Golden Eagle Golf Club. Confirm any required golf club rental equipment. 7 Days Before Event: Guarantee number of guests for golf and food order. Day of Event: Tournament Organizer (you) should arrive at least one hour prior to the first tee time, or in the case of a shotgun start, one and a half hours ahead of scheduled tee time. Meet with the Tournament Coordinator who will be available to assist you prior to the first tee time.
