1 CELEBRATING 26 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Southeast Michigan Chapter - American Singles Golf Association - December 2017 PRESIDENT Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my fellow ASGA friends! The first snow has fallen, and here in Michigan, we can expect that there will be more of that to come. It sure puts a damper on our golfing, but it won t keep us from continuing to gather for social events throughout the winter months. I hope that some of you will share the activities you enjoy by inviting your ASGA friends along. Simply contact Marilyn Abray to check on a date, and let the fun begin. White Christmas There s still time to join Mike Williams for his event at the Redford Theatre on urday, December 16 th, to see the classic movie White Christmas. Tickets are $5.00, and we ll be gathering for dinner before the movie. What a nostalgic and merry way to celebrate the season with some of your fellow ASGA member! Christmas Cocktail Party The lack of interest by our membership in our annual Christmas Dinner/Meeting leads me to believe that this event has worn out its relevance. In its place, we decided to hold a Christmas Cocktail Party, which was a great success! Thanks to Carol Klausing and Judy Cupp who hosted this event at the home of Marilyn Abray on urday, December 9 th. The evening was free to the 17 members who attended. The setting was warm and festive, the catered hors d oeuvres were delicious, and the company was outstanding. Thank you to all those who participated in this special opportunity to share the holiday spirit with our fellow members. Thank You Officers! We held the elections for all of our 2018 officer positions at the November 15 th Membership/Meet & Greet meeting at. Thanks to Alan Schneider and Carol Klausing for stepping up. Thanks also to the members who came and voted, and thanks especially to all our outgoing officers for their diligence, service, and support. January 18 th Monthly Meeting I hope to see you at our next monthly mixer and meeting on Thursday, January 18 at, Farmington Road, Livonia, MI, (just south of 8 Mile. We meet in the bar for cocktails at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and a short meeting at 7:00 p.m. January is a great time for new beginnings, so make sure to invite your single friends along to meet us! SinglesGolf.com/NewYears is the site to head to for more info. 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise - March 24-31, Take the Celebrity Equinox out of Miami, Florida, stops in Key West, Puerto Costa Mayo and Cozumel, Mexico, George Town, Grand Cayman and back to Miami. We're planning for three rounds of golf, which are optional. Full details at ASGA National-Sponsored Spring Fling Early, Date and location to be determined. This won t be held in Florida, however, we re seeking a location in the mid-atlantic region, somewhere midway up the East Coast. Open for ideas! ASGA in Ireland / Northern Ireland July, Just a thought at this point but we haven t been to Ireland since We ve experienced Scotland twice and Spain once. We ll do a national survey soon about your desire to travel to the land with no snakes. Tom Alsop will be doing site visits in December, selecting hotels, courses and restaurants. Our November election brings two changes: Carol Klausing has volunteered to become our new vice president, and Alan Snider has volunteered to be our new golf chair. All other board positions remain the same. Diane Dziewicki served for three years as the golf chair, so a special thanks goes out to her for all her contributions to our chapter. I would also like to thank all our board members for their time and dedication to our ASGA chapter. Kim McIntyre, our deputy chairman, will be organizing a board planning meeting for some time in late January or February. We ask that all members start thinking about what golf outing or other social function you would like to sponsor for our 2018 season. Before we know it, we ll be starting another season.
