4 The BCHS A worthy investment Together, we are Transforming Healthcare in our Community The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is committed to raising critical funds to ensure a strong healthcare system for our community. Your meaningful support of the BCHS Foundation helps us purchase patient equipment not funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, provide essential resources to maintain the exceptional level of compassionate patient care, and invest in new and innovative technology. Every dollar counts... The BCHS Foundation is grateful for our donors that are positively impacting patient-centred care here in our community. It is through the generosity of our many donors, like you, that the BCHS Foundation has been able to fund the purchase of critical pieces of patient equipment to support our healthcare system. The equipment supported by donor dollars isn t all nice to have - it is essential, much-needed equipment to perform daily medical diagnostics and care for our patients. In an average day at the BCHS 150 people in our community will come to the Emergency Department for care some with various serious complications including 25 children brought by their concerned parents In the Critical Care Unit 12 patients are being cared for some are on life support The Brant Community Cancer Clinic is treating 26 patients The home-like Palliative Care suite is caring for 7 patients, and their loved ones The Family Birthing Centre will safely welcome another 4 infants to Brantford 200 patients will have an X-ray, ultrasound or bone mineral density test in Diagnostic Imaging to help physicians determine the next steps in their care The hospital laboratory will perform 7,000 tests within the departments of Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Pathology and Transfusion Medicine 44 patients will have a CT scan and 30 patients will have an MRI scan In the Operating Rooms 38 patients will undergo surgery and 15 patients will have cataracts removed Staff will care for the 280 patients admitted throughout the hospital The Wescast Ambulatory Care Centre will treat 150 patients 15 patients will undergo testing in the Nuclear Medicine Department The Secondary Stroke Prevention Clinic will receive 10 referrals and see 5 patients The Integrated Stroke Unit will care for 21 patients from Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk 41 women will have their mammogram The Pre-Op Clinic will prepare 30 patients for their upcoming surgery 30 patients are educated in the Diabetes Education Clinic at the Brantford General, The Willett and other locations in Brantford. * The above does not include numerous patient services also provided on a daily basis and is based on a typical day.
