Tullis Trophy - 18 Holes St. Andrews Mon 2nd Apr Greensomes Stableford. Any combination of Member, Lady or Cadet except that two Members may not form a team. Stroke allowance - half combined with players using Red Tees receiving 4 courtesy strokes. White Tees - Members, Cadets (off 18 or less). Yellow Tees - Members aged 65+, Cadets (with handicaps 19-28). Red Tees - Ladies, Cadets (with handicaps 29+). Whitfield - Incorporated with the Tue 4th Dec Quaich Seniors Turkey Trot. Awarded to the best stableford score recorded by a Member, who has represented the club in a Seniors Match that year. 21

22 Protocol in the event of a tie In the event of a tie in a handicap medal competition, the winner shall be decided on a countback in the traditional manner. In the event of a tie in a scratch medal competition, the winner shall be decided by 18 hole play off (sudden death in the event of a tie after the play off). All match play competitions, including the Scratch Match Play Championship, shall be decided by sudden death in extra holes in the event of a tie after 18 holes. The result of any matchplay round is to be posted without delay by the losing player / pair. In the event of a walkover, it is the responsibility of the winning player / pair to post the result. Use of Buggies in competitions Buggies will be allowed in all handicap events, including the Founders Singles and Founder s Foursomes for medical certificate holders providing they have applied for special dispensation from the Golf Committee in advance. HOWEVER, in normal circumstances, buggies will not be allowed in the following competitions: The Gold Medal, John Langley Cup, or the Scratch Match Play. In exceptional circumstances, use of a buggy may be granted by the Golf Committee for Members who have a permanent disability. If such permission is granted, it will remain in force until rescinded by the Golf Committee. 22

23 COURSE WORK 2018 Under the guidance of the Green Committee, the Course Manager has committed to a number of course maintenance programmes during the year. Key programmes and dates are as follows: Course Closures: Old Course: 15th to 18th Jan; 29th Jan to 1st Feb; 12th to 15th Feb; 26th Feb 19th to 23rd March; 30th July to 3rd August New Course: Aeration: Greens: Old Course New Course 8th to 11th Jan; 22nd to 25th Jan; 5th to 8th Feb; 19th to 22nd Feb; 12th to 16th March; 6th to 10th August The ideal time for this is in the quiet period in March and at the end of July/ beginning of August which will revitalise fatigued and compacted greens. 19th to 23rd March: Aeration and top dress greens 30th July to 3rd August: hollow tine and top dress greens and hollow tine fairways 12th to 16th March: hollow tine and top dress greens 6th August to 10th August: Aeration and top dress greens and hollow tine fairways 23

24 Fairways: Irrigation: The ideal months for verti-draining are Mar/Nov and it will be scheduled to create minimum disruption during competitions. Oversowing must be undertaken when there is the opportunity for germination and recovery after hollow tining. The set up and close down of the irrigation system is essential to the well being of our courses. The work can sometimes be disruptive but will be kept to a minimum.
