The club maintains stability through fiscally responsible management. Founded in 1908, the Fort Wayne Country Club is this community's original premier country club. The membership enjoys social, athletic, and family activities, including golf, tennis, swimming, dining and social events. Fort Wayne Country Club's current membership is comprised of Golf, Athletic and Social members. The Club provides a focal point for social, athletic and family activities in a campus style setting surrounded by a beautifully manicured golf course. In 2008, Fort Wayne Country Club was proud to celebrate its 100th anniversary. In a time when family activities and busy schedules consume the day, Fort Wayne Country Club provides an escape to social gatherings, relaxed dining, golf, tennis, swimming and family fun. 2 Amenities Golf: 18 greens, 30 bunkers, and 39 traps create an exceptional, challenging, and rewarding golf experience at Fort Wayne Country Club. David McIntosh laid out the original 9 holes at Fort Wayne Country Club and noted golf course architect William B. Langford of Chicago expanded the course to 18 holes in As the club moved into a new century, Bob Lohmann created the master plan that is currently shaping the course. The quiet, serene surroundings on the Fort Wayne Country Club golf course make for an exceptional golf experience. The golf course surroundings are quiet and serene. The Golf program features a variety of events, including the traditional Opening and Closing Stags, as well as, Club Championships, Member/Member Tournaments, and the highly anticipated annual Member-Guest Invitational. The Club s 9-Hole and 18-Hole Ladies' Golf Groups meet weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, respectively. The Junior Golf Program is designed with group lessons for children ages 6 to 18, but private lessons are also available. Each season features a variety of events from tournaments to family golf nights. Dining, Event Planning & Club Special Events: Fort Wayne Country Club offers the Pub & Porch for elegant casual dining or the Gazebo for a casual dining choice during the summer. Pub & Porch: With a wide variety of menu selections, members enjoy dining in the Pub & Porch throughout the year. Recently redesigned in a casual to elegant atmosphere, the Pub & Porch offers a distinctive blend of experiences and a myriad of choices. Tennis & Fitness: Fort Wayne Country Club provides a superb year-round tennis program for its members, from private lessons to group lessons to USTA Team Tennis. Fort Wayne Country Club is the only private club in Northeast Indiana to offer a winter tennis facility. In the fall, the Dome, covering three courts, is put in place to provide indoor tennis all winter. The Dome is removed in the spring to allow for lighted outdoor tennis on five courts, allowing members to enjoy tennis all year. The Tennis & Fitness Center offers quality rackets, shoes and accessories along with full service racket stringing and regripping. Many events are held throughout the year to suit the tennis players, including tournaments, guest days, mixers with other clubs, mixed doubles events, and USTA. Our tennis professional is USPTA and USPTR certified. The Club provides an unmatchable year-round tennis program. The Junior Tennis Program is offered year round and each session offers groups for all ages and abilities. Swimming: Swimming lessons, swim team, relaxation and family time... The Club provides a wide variety of pool activities for all ages throughout the summer with the pool season beginning on the Saturday before Memorial Day and concluding on Labor Day. The staff members are all certified instructors and lifeguards. FWCC sponsors organized swim and prep teams. Swim meets are scheduled with area clubs throughout the summer season. For adults, swimming at FWCC can be fun and relaxing or intense and invigorating. If members are interested in getting some exercise in a nice, quiet, relaxed atmosphere, or would like to just sit by the pool with a cold drink and a good book, or just meet family and friends for the afternoon, the FWCC pool is the place to be. The Poolside Cafe offers a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, soft drinks and juices while relaxing poolside. 4 Job Description Serve as the chief operating officer of the club: oversee and manage all aspects of the club including its activities and the relationships between the club and its Board of Directors, members, guests, employees, community, government and industry. Coordinate and administer the club s policies as defined by its Board of Directors. Develop operating policies and procedures and oversee the work of all department managers. Implement and monitor the budget, monitors the quality of the club s products and services, and ensure maximum member and guest satisfaction. Secure and protect the club s assets, including facilities and equipment. Fort Wayne Country Club s private dining facilities are unmatched in the area. The General Manager acts as the Chief Operating Officer of the Club in planning and directing its activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations, and to maximize the Club s full potential with a balanced focus on mission, member, guest and employee satisfaction. Knows and complies with the Club s standards in performing all key areas of accountability and other essential duties and responsibilities. The GM/COO will maximize the financial performance of the Club by providing the highest possible quality of service and product, by fostering a positive, team-based work environment for all employees, by developing and implementing innovative and attractive offerings to the Club s membership within budgetary constraints, and by working closely with the Club s Board of Directors. The General Manager/COO is expected to provide quality leadership and a positive & professional upbeat image for the Club ensuring that members enjoy premier service, a quality product and an exciting calendar of events. He or She is responsible for the success of all aspects of the Club goals and activities and is expected to devote full time and attention to operations, planning and staff performance and coordination. Candidate Qualifications & Experience The successful candidate will be a proven businessperson with exceptional financial and budgeting skills that have yielded results. In particular, the candidate must enjoy and embrace the challenge of strong fiscal management while at the same time, delivering the quality and range of service to enable the Club to continue to attract and retain members. Fort Wayne Country Club has a sense of history and tradition. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressively more responsible club management positions in a country club environment. 5 outstanding membership relations and communication skills. The candidate must have a proven record of strong operational management skills and will have an impeccable career path ensuring the highest standards of operation and attention to detail. The successful candidate will possess sound business acumen, outstanding food and beverage knowledge and be able to provide the energy and desire to interact with the membership on a model professional level. The club is looking for a visionary, take-charge type person who understands trends in the private club industry and can help position the Club to successfully take advantage of these trends. The general manager will exhibit creativity in providing programs for the membership to enjoy and will take a sincere interest in member and guest satisfaction. This individual will embrace traditional values and foster a spirit of respect and decency among the employees and members. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable getting involved in the local community enhancing the reputation of the club. Especially strong communication and interpersonal skills are considered essential, as is the competency to be a strong, confident, accountable leader who is naturally able to be diplomatically forthright with all club constituencies. The new general manager will enjoy inspiring department managers and employees and will demonstrate leadership skills in team building, employee motivation and especially service training. He/She will be confident, creative, enthusiastic, energetic, engaging and a highly visible manager to the staff and membership. Strategic planning skills, facility improvement experience and membership marketing & retention experience, are considered very valuable. The candidate will be active and well respected in his or her local and national CMAA organization. A college degree and the CCM designation are preferred. This position is available immediately.
