3 The Max Cure Foundation s mission is to fund research for the development of pediatric cancer drugs, including funding to discover less toxic treatments for children with cancer, to financially assist low income and military families battling cancer in their children, and through advocacy, to pursue legislative and regulatory changes that seek to benefit children with cancer and at the same time, raise awareness to the needs of those fighting pediatric cancer. 4 Max Plotkin was diagnosed with a rare form of B-Cell Lymphoma, on the day before his 4th birthday. The cancer was extremely rare, having never been seen by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The cancer originated in his right forearm and it metastasized to his left knee. It was stage 4. Today Max is 14-years-old and is considered to be a 10-year cancer survivor. After experiencing the reality of childhood cancer, the lack of research funding, and financial issues that impact families with children battling cancer, the Plotkin Family created The Max Cure Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2007 to provide the initial funding for an immuno-oncology laboratory. That lab today has been responsible for treating and saving the lives of hundreds of children battling the disease. In 2008, Max Cure Foundation (MCF) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charity. MCF has expanded its research mission and funding, and to-date has granted over $1.5 million dollars for childhood cancer research. Since November 2011, MCF has provided assistance to over 150 families at countless hospitals and clinics across the United States, with a strong presence in New Jersey and New York. Since inception, MCF in its family assistance program has given over $700,000 to families battling cancer in their children along with giving $79,000 in grants to sustain psychosocial programs and services in hospitals and clinics. 14 FROM THE WEST: DIRECTIONS TO SEBONACK GOLF CLUB 495 EAST (LIE) to Exit 70 Manorville. At the end of off-ramp make a right (South) on County Road (CR) 111 to the end. Go left (East) onto RTE 27. Depending on traffic, approx. 20 minutes until you see Lobster Inn on left. In exactly 1/2 mile turn LEFT onto SHRUBLAND RD. Go another 1/2 mile to the wrought iron gates, on your LEFT. Go through the gates into the driveway. The Clubhouse is at the top of the hill. FROM WESTHAMPTON/GABRESKI AIRPORT: At airport exit, turn RIGHT (NORTH) onto County Road 31. Travel approximately 3 miles to RTE 27. Take RTE 27 east and follow directions above. (Approximately 10 miles to the SHRUBLAND RD. intersection). FROM THE EAST: Rte. 27/CR 39 West to traffic light at MAGEE ST. (Pelican Pools at the corner). Go RIGHT (North) onto MAGEE ST. Go to the stop sign and make a LEFT onto SEBONAC RD. Travel 1.7 miles to the wrought iron gates on your RIGHT. (Tuckahoe Rd. and Tuckahoe Lane also connect Rte.27/CR 39 with Sebonac Rd). FROM EASTHAMPTON AIRPORT: Exit airport and turn RIGHT onto INDUSTRIAL RD then a quick left onto WAINSCOTT NW RD. At the end turn RIGHT (WEST) onto MONTAUK HWY/RTE 27. Turn RIGHT at the T intersection (Diner and car dealers) to continue West. Then follow directions above to MAGEE ST. FROM SAG HARBOR: Main St/CR 79 SOUTH. CR 79 becomes Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike. Continue SOUTH for about 2 miles to SCUTTLE HOLE RD. Go RIGHT (WEST) onto SCUTTLE HOLE RD. for approximately 4 miles to the end. Turn RIGHT (WEST) onto Rte 27 through Watermill and Southampton. Turn RIGHT (NORTH) onto MAGEE ST. at the stoplight/pelican Pools corner.
