2 Dear Prospective Sponsor, July 18, 2014 has been set as the date for the 6th Annual Dave Hoefel Memorial Golf Tournament. We are pleased to announce that for the 6th year the tournament will be benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation. The Folds of Honor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to empower deserving military families with educational support and opportunities. FHF provides post-secondary educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of their military service to our great nation. Our unique scholarships can be applied to schooling now or held by Folds of Honor on behalf of young children until needed at the time of enrollment. The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 pilot, golf course owner, PGA Professional and USGA member. A Major in the Air National Guard and a decorated military aviator, Rooney has served three combat tours in Iraq. After returning from his second tour, Major Rooney witnessed a profound situation that drove him to create the Folds of Honor Foundation. We have been able to donate $63,000 to the Folds of Honor in the first five years of the tournament, that equals out to 12 scholarships for families of our service men and women. We are looking for hole sponsors, monetary donations, or any kind of donation that might be used as a door prize for the event. Our goal is to try and double our donation to the Folds of Honor this year. Please review the enclosed Tournament and Foundation information. As we transition into using the folded American flag as the Folds of Honor logo, please take a moment to read what each fold means: The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life. The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life. The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world. The fourth fold represents our weaker nature; as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance. The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong.
