1 The Top 10 FAQ 1. Do I need my own clubs? a. Your own equipment is highly encouraged, however, if a player needs some used clubs the department may have some clubs they can sign out and borrow. 2. Can I use a pull/push cart? a. Yes, Pull/push cart are allowed. Electric carts are not allowed 3. Can I caddie for my golfer? a. In the 6-9, & age group caddies are allowed. 4. Can I rent a golf cart? At what cost? a. That is up to the golf club, typically it is allowed at a fee that the golf course sets, not Rec and Parks. 5. Am I allowed to watch the golf match? a. Absolutely, however it is asked that you remain on the cart path at least 100 feet from the golfers and you are not allowed to give any coaching or advice. Please let them make their own decisions. 6. Can a golfer ride in the golf cart and still play his match? a. NO. All golfers must walk the entire golf match, unless being ridden to their starting hole. 7. What is the clothing attire? a. All golfers must wear a collared shirt; female golfers may wear a golf appropriate shirt without a collar. Shorts are allowed, but no denim of any kind is allowed on the golf course. Golf shoes or tennis shoes are acceptable. 8. Can I use a range finder? a. Yes, range finders are allowed 9. Can I have a drink on the course? a. Yes, drinks are allowed on the course. Water, Gatorade, Soda only. No Alcoholic drinks allowed. 10. What time are the tee times? a. All tee times on Monday and Thursday are at 5:30pm. Tour Championship tee time is at 2:00pm

Please be confident that your junior can compete at the longer distances before moving up. Age Determination will be the junior s age as of March 31, For kids who are 18 years of age you are eligible provided that you have not yet attended college. A Birth Certificate may be asked to be provided upon request. **The Director reserves the right to move a player down a division if the golfer cannot obtain a respectable score. This is so the golfer will learn and enjoy the game not get frustrated with the game.

4 General Rules The League Schedule for the Season Schedule will consist of 6 weeks beginning on April 23, 2018 and ending on June 4, 2018 with a Tour Championship on June 10, Matches/Tournaments will be held as 9-Hole events for ages every Monday and Thursday beginning at 5:30 pm. Matches/Tournaments will be held as 6-Hole events for ages 6-9 & every Thursday beginning at 5:30 pm. Instruction on Monday s 6-9 Instruction from 5:30 6:15pm Instruction from 6:15 7:00pm The Tour Championship will be the following: Middle and High School Divisions Championship Flight 18-Hole event B Flight- 9 Hole event Elementary School Division Championship Flight 9-Hole Event B Flight 6 Hole event Event Cancellations All tour events will be played regardless of the number of players who attend. In the event of inclement weather; The cancellation line is ext. 5 after 4:00pm

5 Play of the Golf Ball Middle and High School Division All matches will be a 9 Hole Stroke play format. All golf balls must be played as they lie. No improvement of the ball will be allowed, unless it has been announced by the Tour Coordinator or Program Director or Golf Course Pro before the start of the event. Elementary Division All matches will be a 6 Hole Stroke play format. All golf balls must be played as they lie. Range Finders Range Finders will be allowed for tournament use; however, information is not to be share among players during the round.

6 Scoring Players will be required to exchange scorecards and keep track of playing partner s score. Each player should also keep track of their own score and report their accurate score to the official scorekeeper after each hole. Players are responsible for the holeby-hole score and the total score. Three (3) over par is the maximum score allowed per hole in every age group Example: 7 shall be the maximum score on a par 4 8 shall be the maximum score on a Par 5 6 shall be the maximum score on a Par 3 Players putting or shooting for the max score on a hole during play should pick up or hole out and record the score. In the event of darkness for a match, the following rule will be applied. Any holes not completed by a golfer then the remaining holes not played will be given the max score possible for each hole remaining. o Example: Golfer A finished 8 of the 9 holes and his/her remaining hole was a par 4 then Golfer A will have to record a 7 as the score for the last hole on the card. o A nine-hole round of golf should be completed in less than two hours. Each player should attest the official scorecard with their signature before returning the card into the scorer s table following the round. Intentional cheating will lead to disqualification and potential removal from the Jr. ESGL. Any rules questions will be handled by an onsite Tour Coordinator or Program Director. If a scorecard is not signed or signed but the score is incorrect that player will receive a warning the first two offenses, on the third offense the player will not receive a score for that round. Adult score keepers will be assigned to 6-9 Adults or Players may keep score on the age division.

7 Tee times, results and standings All Tee Times will be at 5:30pm promptly all players will have a shotgun start. Players late for a tee time will be added to the group they were supposed to play with and begin play there. Any holes missed for a late arrival the golfer will be assessed the maximum score for those holes to compile a complete scorecard. Results and Standings will be found on the Wicomico County Recreation and Parks website at RAINOUTS / LIGHTNING If lightning is present, you are to immediately take the standard precautions prescribed for this condition. Take cover if the course warning horn sounds during a round. Rainouts will be determined by the club pro and/or the rules committee. Contact the cancellation line at ext 5. Caddies and Pull/Push Carts One parent or guardian is permitted, but not required, to caddie for juniors in the 9-11 and age division. Caddies should only offer advice to their player individually. Always allow the golfer to choose their own club. Caddies are permitted to carry clubs for kids in the 9-11and age group. Golfers and Caddies must walk the course. Any golfer using an electric golf cart to play their round will be disqualified. Caddies are NOT permitted in the High School Division. Parents/Spectators must stay on the Cart Path. Golfers in this age group must walk and carry their own equipment. Pull/Push Carts will be allowed for all divisions if the junior wishes to use them. NO Electronic Pull/Push Carts are allowed.

8 Practice Rounds Facilities are not required to offer special junior or practice round rates prior to scheduled tour events. Players are welcome and encouraged to play practice rounds at the public courses on the Jr. ESGL schedule. Juniors are not entitled to practice rounds at exclusively private clubs unless they are active club members at the respective country club. POINT STANDINGS SYSTEM Double Points System-Majors 1 ST PLACE 200 PTS 1 ST PLACE 400 PTS 2 ND PLACE 150 PTS 2 ND PLACE 300 PTS 3 RD PLACE 100 PTS 3 RD PLACE 200 PTS 4 TH PLACE 80 PTS 4 TH PLACE 160 PTS 5 TH PLACE 60 PTS 5 TH PLACE 120 PTS 6 TH & LOWER 40 PTS 6 TH & LOWER 80 PTS ** Any ties in score for a place each player will receive the full allotment of points to be awarded. Example: Player A and Player B both tie with a 42 which is 2 nd place, both golfer will receive 150 points. Then the next golfer will receive the 4 th place points and so on. There will be Five (5) Events Called Majors that will be worth DOUBLE POINTS in the Middle and High School Division How to Enter an Event On the Friday before the next week s matches an will be sent to everyone asking if your golfer is participating in this week s matches. They will be listed in the all you have to do is reply back with a YES or NO response so that way we have a good head count for the match and can make the pairings.

9 The Point System is used only to determine the top golfers who will compete in the 18-Hole Tour Championship & the 9 Hole B Flight Championship The Tour Championship MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION The top half each age group will qualify for the Tour Championship. Any ties for the final positions will also qualify. Example: Division has 16 golfers the top 8 and any ties for the 8 th position will qualify for the Tour Championship. The remaining golfers will be eligible for the B Flight Championship and that is a 9 Hole event. This is a winner take all event, no points will be awarded, the golfer with the lowest score for that round in each age division will be crowned the Tour Champion. In the event of a tie score, if time allows there will be a playoff between the tied golfers. If it is too dark for a playoff; then the matching scorecard format will be used. 10 Dress Code and Etiquette The Jr. Eastern Shore Golf League Tour (Jr. ESGL) is very fortunate to have the support of some of the area local golfing facilities to provide this opportunity to our junior golfers. It is essential that all junior tour players adhere to proper dress codes: collared or golf type shirt, no cut off shorts. Golf or tennis shoes must be worn on the course. Jr. Eastern Shore Golf League staff and volunteers will be present at each event to ensure every player understands all proper course etiquette before, during and after play. Cellular Phones /Spectators Cell phones and other electronic devices must be turned off during play for all players and caddies. Specific private facilities may prohibit the use of cell phones entirely (including spectators). Spectators may keep their cell phone on Silent Mode during the event. We want you to cheer for your child on during the event, however we do ask that you stay on the cart path at all times, and you must be at least 100 feet away, and please no coaching/instruction to your child during their match. Golf Cart rentals are at the discretion of the Golf Club. Pace of Play The Jr. ESGL is very much in line with the USGA and other Junior Tours across the country with an emphasis on pace of play and will adhere to the following pace of play policy: 1st Warning All players in the group will be warned prior to the target time and coinciding tee marker. 2nd Warning All players in the group will be asked to skip ONE hole and receive a default score* of (2 over par) for that hole.

11 How to Handle: A Lost Ball / Unplayable Lie / Out of Bounds / Wooded Areas / Any Water Hazard / Or ANY BALL WHICH HAS TO BE MOVED IN ORDER TO PLAY IT. PENALTY: ADD 1 STROKE and use one of the following two options Option 1: Place the ball 2 club lengths from where the ball lies or the point of entry, no closer to the hole. Option 2: Keep the point of entry between yourself and the Flag and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as you want. **There shall be no provisional golf shots, play everything as a Lateral Hazard, even Out of Bounds in the Woods**
