Status NUNI SUNDAY: (L-R) Baron, Leon, Steve, The Mayor, The Chairman & Uncle Joseph STAFF WRITERS Professor Go Go Jones Uncle Joseph Sharples Chairman Art Moller (Northfield, NJ) We have heard it before, and we heard the reverberation again, as the sun settled on the final day of the 29th Season, a boisterous, and fiery young Irishman was red faced from the sun of another glorious victory. And possibly some of that red pigmentation was a creation of the Guinness Beer that wetted his whistle, and had the sweet taste of a 5th victory. After each Guinness his volume tends to rise, but the chant is still the same, N-U-N-I NUNI, NUNI, NUNI!!! Peter John Murray AKA The Mayor, Peter Jeter, was in a very festive mood relaxing in the elegant dining room of the Atlantic City Country Club, as NUNI s Evil Empire had captured their 5 th, and some might challenge their 6 th, Moller Mechanical GMA Tour World Series. For Mr. Murray he now had one for the thumb, a 5th ring, and the 2014 Moller Mechanical World Series MVP, and this generous Irishman picked up everyone s lunch tab; he is one generous dude. After surviving with a narrow razor tight victory at Sea Oaks, with the historic triple birdie charge of Judge Robert Stanley Kennedy on October 18 th, Chairman Artie Moller & his Boy Wonder, Christopher Leon Activity Garibian, would breathe new live into the most storied franchise in GMA history, NUNI AKA The Evil Empire. NUNI in the first round of the 2014 Series, would be facing General John Danckwerth s Doomsday Storm Tropper s in the third round of the Post Season Dance that really represents the Semi-Finals, a time to do or die. After nine holes, NUNI & D-Day, overall where very close in the new Match Play format instituted last season. Johnnie Walker was even with Uncle Joe in A position. Judge, in B, was plus 4 over Tok en Doug Barber, but this was more or less balanced by the two-player team squad of General Danks and Doc-A-Doo who were up 6 points (equivalent to 3-holes) at the turn against The Mayor and Steve Litt. Rookie Jeff Hook was down a hole to Leon, and The Mad Dog was up a hole on Chairman Moller. D-Days Blunder After 7 holes, John Dank s and his Rook, Jason Doc-A-Doo Villani were up 9 points (4.5 holes). We believe that the swing point of this match happened on No. 8, as Doomsday conceded Steve Litt s putt, not aware that he was getting a stroke and possibly costing them a point. This little crack of daylight was the triggering light at the tunnel s end, for Murray & Litt. Uncle Joe s Match Play Tactics Match Play was implemented last year to speed up play, and it has its share of small nuisances, and Uncle Joseph Sharples gave us his following insights. Some believe you only give a putt when you are out of the hole, alas a fool s errand. The strategy is to keep doubt in your opponents mind. One tactic is to give short putts early in the round. This accomplishes two objectives: 1) Opponent doesn't grow confident in making those early putts. 2) Further in the match; pressure is building; your opponent is standing over that 3-footer waiting to hear "pick it up", but dead silence and the echo of his own heart is all he hears. Instead of concentrating on the task at hand, all he thinks about is when or why are you not giving him the stroke. Putt missed.

2 Another option during the match is to keep quiet while your advisory is standing over a similar putt that you had given him several times before. As he grinds over his ball, not believing you haven't conceded; hearing his wife's voice after he kicks the cat "I thought golf was suppose to be fun". Then, just when you see his blood pressure has flushed his face red and while he is wondering whether he should have gone for that physical his wife has been nagging him about because he feels dizzy and hears his heart pounding. Then, just then, you tell him it is good. It's all about removing the comfort level from the flat stick in what we affectionately call a "Gentleman's Game" - Uncle Joe. MOLLER MECHANICAL Air Conditioning / Refrigeration Call Missioneer, Art Moller Office: (201) The Mayor & The NUNI Shine At the turn, they were down by 6 points (3 holes) and The Mayor leaving the 9 th green was a bit playful with our camera crew member, Mr. Shelby Rex, who had a camera affixed to his Australian Hat, and was video taping Saturday s round. This is a new ground breaking area of the GMA Tour that is exciting, and we do believe it would be very cool to assemble a video tape of particular events in the days to come, and want to thank Mr. Shelby Smith for his appreciated volunteer efforts to make this a cooler league. I was told the Mayor gave Shelbo a tight bosom pinch, and a smile. Sometimes the innovator does get violated. The Mayor s Regular Season numbers were not that Kosher during the 2014 Campaign and even, as his 12-year old son, Matthew Murray would state, Dad these stats are bleak. However, Professor Go Go wasn t overly concerned about Regular Season tallies. The Mayor had a low KR (Kill Ratio) but some of that was the result of very strong performances by opponents. But looking even beyond that, Go-Go was keenly aware that The Mayor, and the Judge, had been there so many times before in Big Game situations, under very tight pressure, and had risen to the top. I can recall the last day of the 09 Regular Season at Silver Lake, NUNI was neck and neck with Benny O s Internationals, the number 1 seed at the time, playing NUNI, the 2- Seed. Everything was on the line and The Mayor and BZ crushed their match play opponents, Haggy Hagiwara and JR, and The Mayor s timely net won the Net Crown that day, and gave them the 2009 Pennant. That year at Sea Oaks they saved Professor Go-Go from having to walk home from Sea Oaks, and flattened Thomas Chop Chop Kopec s Newark Bears on Super Sunday paving the wave for Ernie Bank s, AKA Glenn Joseph Morello, first and only ring. The Post Season is certainly a pressure cooker for sure. I recall reading that Jack Nicklaus really thought that his chances of winning the majors of his day were so much better, because the competition was so limited because there were so few players who actually thought they could win the big one. I think Jack s situation in the 1970 s was similar to the present day NUNI- Electricity that powers them to big game wins. 3 On Saturday, as a small gallery waited by the 18 th hole green, for play to trickle in, the early results were very gloomy for Doomsday, both Johnnie Walker and Tok en Douglas Barber had been defeated respectively by Uncle Joseph AKA Colonel Sanders and The Judge, who was giving 19 blows. Their second foursome streamed in, and suddenly Doomsday had life, and was tied up. Rookie Jeff Hook and Randy The Mad Dog Halat swept their C & D matches for the D-Day Storm Troopers, with wins over Christopher Leon and Artie. For the record, Mad Dog would go 3-0 in the Post Season, crushing two tough opponents in both rounds of the Series, when all was said and done. Mad Dog s Feed: The Mad Dog showed up and steam rolled his opponents, beating Moller 5&4 and McCabe was dormie on Sunday going into the 14th hole. My teammate and riding partner for the weekend Mr. Hook brought his A game and walked away with two "W"'s for the weekend. The General had the cards dealt the way he wanted them to fold, but him and Doc could not close the deal on Sat. or Sun. The bottom line is we made it to the Finals and had a great time being part of it. Win or lose, we all tried our best. We will be back next year and hopefully the outcome will be different. Now with Individual Matches all hog tied at 2-2, everything rested with the last group, the team squads. The gallery had no idea how their teams stood, and everyone representing these teams had the common sense, and discipline to not venture out on the playing field to disturb those still playing; patience is certainly a virtue. My first indications of what was up was hearing General John Danckwerth saying the word collapse as he made his way to the 18 th green. I didn t pick up his entire communication but using the term collapse, spelled trouble for his Doomer s since they had a sizeable lead at the turn. I thought to myself, I told Shelby at the turn, and I believe he video taped it that never count Jeter (Murray) out. If anyone could do it he certainly could. Like his counter part on the N.Y. Yankees, he will be a first time pick into the GMA Hall of Fame when his Tour is up. The guy is just a frigging warrior, a grinder, who fights to the end, and backs his swagger with 5 rings. Well the 9 point lead that Danks & Doc-A-Doo built was gradually being chipped away until the 150-yard, par 3, 17 th hole was finished, a hole wear Steve Litt, of NUNI, secured an all-important par. They were behind all day, until 17, when they captured their first lead of the beautiful sunny day with a two point reversal. A review of the card uncovers that on that incredible back nine come back it was a ham & egg effort by both NUNI players, Litt & Murray. Steve Litt also had a key-birdie on No. 14. On 15, 16 and 17 NUNI grabbed all 6 points while Doomsday Shit-thebed. As they approached 18, NUNI was a point up (1/2 a hole). They lost the aggregate but Pete Murray s par on 18, resulted in a push, and NUNI was headed to the Finals. Oh well, these things do happen, as teams sometimes fold like a tent, and Doomsday s season was suddenly aborted. It came down to the wire and NUNI had survived another difficult advance. Doomsday has nothing to be ashamed of, and I cannot believe they came that close to upsetting NUNI, on an afternoon where 3 seasoned veteran Doomsday players where attending a wedding in Lake Hopatcong of Missy McPipeFitter. I figured they would get blown away, and they came so damn close to toppling the mighty giant. It is a real testament to Captain John Danckwerth s top level leadership skills that he had assembled a team, so balanced and stacked, that became that competitive under those unique circumstances. Then again he is a fabulous trainer, and is organized, and knows how to motivate and which buttons to push. They came very close to upending a full strength NUNI team, while D-Day was minus three Post Season vets replaced by 3 Rookies: The Hook, Doc-A-Doo and Token Doug. John Danckwerth, Jr. Member of the Doomsday Bad Ass s Moons Shine on Sat For the second straight year, Bad Ass William s Moonshiner s, named after their late comrade Douglas Moonshine Mooney who passed away in 2011 from a tree accident, clawed their way to the World Series from the Wild Card Round. Last year as a 10-Seed, they were bounced in Round One of the

4 World Series by Team Twenty Six, 3.5 Matches to 1.5 wins. In the Wild Card Round this year they knocked out Dom Cutillo s Double Down, and for the second straight year punched out Admiral John Paul Geddes and his Slicer Nation at Sea Oaks. In the Go-Go Series Preview I detailed the tenacity of their Fearsome Foursome which includes: Bad Ass William, The Shark, Bed-Time Bednarz and Leo the Lion and started contemplating wow, these guys are going to roll Sweet Spot, and they made that a reality. I thought the 30 days off may have worked against Sweet Stain, as called by JD. All year the compass seemed to point to a Doomsday-Sweet Spot confrontation in the Finals at AC, however, not many I gather figured that would be a consolation agenda for the 3-Seed. In Individual Play, Brad Bed Time Bednarz a lefty that maintains and under the radar profile, who always seems to be very calm and under control, let his sticks do the talking as he took down Mister Big Balls, 3 & 1. Scooter Mac took out Bad Ass in A-class, 1 up. The mighty Bull Shark defeated my main man Mr. Smooth. Mr. Smooth is always a champ in my eyes win or loose; this guy has so much class and was so graceful in defeat. A huge surprise to me was that Kenneth The Destroyer Carlson would take out Leo the Lion, who also exhibited a lot of grace in defeat. Paul A. I know I hold only one vote, and I will have the balls to show my card. To me the goal of this league is to accumulate points since those points underpin your team s seed. Using this logic I always use points to determine my Rookie picks, and therefore my 1 of about 15 votes or so is going to that Italian chiropractor from Verona, who s Wolverines are having a dreadful season last time I heard. Jason will get my top ROY vote, and 3 points, since he had 25.0 GMA Points; despite the fact that his driver has the Wolverine colored head. I will not hold that against him. And my choice for ROY Runner Up and 2 ROY points will go to Kenneth The Destroyer Carlson with points, and my third place point will go to the Oil Man who accumulated 23 points, and was having an incredible Rookie season, at one point late in the season leading the Individual Net Average, which is very rare for a Rookie. I believe Steve Socci may have been the only other Rookie to lead that Net Average in his first year back in So once again, returning to the Match, both teams, the Moons and Sweet Spot, had to wait for the deciding two-player-team squads to determine who advanced, since Individual Play was all even at 2-2. We did have a controversy near the conclusion of the Moons-Sweet Spot battle. As the final group was finishing we had a Captain on the playing field in the middle of the 18 th fairway coaching his players and conversing with the opponents. Prior to the Series all players were instructed to remain by the 18 th green, and to not venture onto the course. I assume the Captain s intentions were good and he was just trying to assist his guys, but there were a lot of players from other teams that felt this incident seriously pissed them off. In the offseason the Rules & Regulations Committee will review this situation, to prevent it from occurring again. Last year s Dart Brothers, Sgt. Major Eddies Neas & Tomo would be representing Sweet Spot s team squad and Billy Gee and Iron Dan would represent the Moons, and this match, also, was decided on 18. Last year on No. 18 to win, The Dart Brothers on Sunday s Finals, stuck two approach shots that were I believe within 10-feet from the pin to bring the Lion to Bedminster. This year their approach shots were to the right of the green, and both of their chips seemed to end up rolling past the cup and coming to rest on the apron. Dan Mulville of the Moons was about 30 feet from the cup, and all he needed to do was two putt from this position. His lag putt was solid and went about 3.5-feet past the hole. With the overall match on the line, and if he missed the testy 3- footer we would have sudden death. No need for that as Mr. Mulville s soft touch drained the putt, and the Moons advance and the No. 1 Seed has fallen. That putt was clutch indeed, and our hat s off to Mr. Mulville of the Moons.

5 Mickelson. Ryan made his par and won 2&1 thus ending my playoff streak but streaks are made to be broken and mine ended at the hands of a worthy opponent and probably this leagues "Player of the Year". Congrats Ryan, well done but alas not all was lost for this is team golf and NUNI would prevail. NUNI, NUNI, NUNI. In the B-Slot, Peter Jeter Murray on Sunday defeated Leo, and The Mayor would be 3-0 for his Post Season Tour. The Final War of 2014 In the Finals, Chairman Moller s revamped NUNI would face off against Bad Ass William s Moons. On Sunday, the forecast was for a much colder day, but that didn t pan out and we had another bright sunny beautiful day; temps were in the high 50 s, low 60 s, I would assume. At the turn, once again as with both of Saturday s matches, it looked very tight again. Shark Attack Ryan The Shark Melone of the Moons would solidify his quest, I believe, for the Player of the Year by beating Uncle Joseph in the A-Match on Sunday. Mr. Melone is a very nice guy, unassuming and friendly, low key, and the Chairman s Cup Leader in 2014, winning the most GMA points during the Regular Season. The Shark was flawless with a 4-0 Individual Match Play Record, against very tough competition in this year s Post Season. He certainly will get my vote tonight, October 29, at the R&R Meeting to determine Player of the Year. This was Uncle Joe s Feed: I tried to find all my playoff records, but could only go back to when I left Senator Bob Haines' Whining Links. I know I won several matches with the Links, but for sure from Hogan's Heroes (1-0) through Dank's Tour (2-0) to Team 26 (2-0) then to this year's Sea Oaks and Saturday's win put me at 7&0 in playoff wins until Mr. Melone AKA The Shark took me down on Sunday. It was a tight match all day, with Ryan being up by 2 most of the match. I must say his fire power off the tee had me playing catch up most of the round and his hybrid second shots into wind driven greens were spot on. When Ryan managed several great up & downs on those holes he was not on in regulation, I knew it was a tough go. I did manage to win holes 14 & 15 to get the match back to even but an errant drive on 16 was the cause of my demise. Being one down going into 17, I thought I needed something special, for 18 into the wind would be to his advantage. Unfortunately for me, my tee shot on 17 went left off the green leaving me short sided with an approach that would have challenged In the Ryder Cup style of selecting matches Bill LaRiccia wanted a match against NUNI s Baron von Palazzolo. He got his match up, and the Baron would send him to the canvas early, 5 & 3. It was a tough Post Season Tour for Willie going 1-3, and coming up Goose Eggs in the Series. On the D-Card, Brad Bed- Time Bednarz put the Judge to sleep, 6 & 4. I heard from someone, that having to give Brad 9 blows, the Judge was pressing, and that got him in trouble. Now it all came down to team play. Art Moller and Christopher Leon of NUNI against the Moons Gundlach and Mulville. Steve Janett, the Real Estate Baron of Verona, has traveled all the way down on Saturday to support the team. He was slated to play on Sunday, but was told on Sunday that the team was going to stick with the players that won the day before. Lots of Captain s make this tough call, and I seriously question it. Mr. Janett was very strong the season before at ACCC in the finals. Who knows how someone is to play tomorrow? Your odds are like 50/50 it s a coin toss in most cases, but your odds of disturbing the harmony on your team are 100%. When you get a guy to drive two hours to spend the night and then change your call based on what you think might happen the next day that is somewhat bosh. With these matches being handicapped nobody has any real idea of who is going to win or play well tomorrow, or not. Mr. Janett is a true gentleman and took this last minute change very well and I m not trying to throw poor William under the bus here. You hear about these decisions being made all the time by other teams as well. A lot of Captains manage in this way, and damage the harmony of their team by doing so. Something for all Captains to keep in mind constructive criticism to help them improve the difficult situation that Captains face at the end of the each year, which is certainly not easy. Chairman Moller s viewpoint of the weekend, and the final match:, Did you know that the last three

6 championships have been won by a member of Hogan s Heroes that left to start their own teams. In 2012 Andy Stewart started team D-Tour and won. In 2013 Jared McCabe left Hogans with Mr. Tompkin and captained the Sweet Spots to victory. And now in 2014 Chris and I decided it was time for a change and shut down Hogans for a while and decided to try a new venture. Because we had two members from the original NUNI and Stevie Palazzolo s brother it only mad sense to restart up NUNI. And so it goes, Art Moller leaves Hogans and captains NUNI to the 2014 Championship Coincidence? I think not. So many things happened through these playoffs for us to get to the finals. One: If Bobby doesn't birdie three of the last four holes, and I don't make my final putt, we don't move on. Who would have guessed Leon would have shit-the-bed in the playoffs. I've been playing with Chris a long time and he thrives under pressure. For some reason, this year he was off but, we had his back like we did everyone on the team. Billy Gundlach. Billy and Dan on Saturday beat a very strong team of Tomo and Sgt. Major Neas. We decided to sit Steve Litt and go with Mikey P. who at the time we thought got thrown out to the wolves when Bill LaRiccia figured he had picked an easy match. Little did he know Mike is a well seasoned playoff vet and was up for the task. After a back and fourth front eight, Chris and I, where able to start something on No. 9 and never looked back, ham and egging every hole for one point. As they say, there is no I in team and this year as the Captain of NUNI I truly felt that. Never once did anyone complain, bitch or moan. For me, this was the best year in the Mission so far. And next year we will be even stronger with Eric Kick Shubert playing more events and two rookie spots opening up. I feeeeeeel a reeeeepeeeeat!!!!!!!!!! 2015 N-U-N-I. NUNI-NUNI-NUNI!!! In the World Series the matches didn't get any easier. Again, Bobby came thru while giving up a lot of strokes. This time Uncle Joe stepped up with a much needed win. Especially with Mad Dog kicking my ass on the back nine and Chris imploding to Mr. Hook who was feeding off of Mad Dog s great back nine, play. But luckily, for us we had the well seasoned NUNI vet anchoring the day with Mr. Litt, who got a well timed bird, playing well also and making another big comeback win to land us into the Finals. On Sunday we decided to change things up a little. We figured maybe with Chris slumping a bit, and him and I only losing once as a team in three seasons, we would be the team to take down Dan Mulville and
