BACK FROM A BAD BREAK Eli Cole experienced his best season as a Horned Frog in his final year on campus despite having to overcome some tough circumstances. Cole missed the entire season after suffering a major lower right leg injury in an offseason pickup soccer game back home in California. He broke both his tibia and fibula in the accident. Cole was held out of competition for more than a full year before his first tournament at the 2012 U.S. Amateur. He made it a successful debut, qualifying for the match-play portion of the event after surviving a 15-man sudden-death playoff. This season was by far the best of Cole s career, and his return to the lineup was one of the paramount reasons behind TCU s jump into the national top 10. Among Cole s season highlights were: 4Was named as one of 26 individuals on the PING All-Central Region Team, the top athletic honor of his Frog career. 4Finished the season ranked No. 105 in the Golfweek national performance index. 4Set a career-best with a season stroke average of His top previous figure was in Posted five top-10 finishes in TCU s 13 tournaments after entering the season with just one in his career. SURGING SWEDE Pontus Gad joined Eli Cole in recording an impressive comeback this season following a tough campaign in A lineup regular for TCU in his first two seasons on campus, he struggled as a junior to the point that he was held out of the team s 2012 postseason lineup. Gad responded by being proactive in fixing his game in the offseason. He returned home to Sweden and even extended his absence from TCU through the fall semester before returning this spring. The break proved to be a turning point for his Frog career, as he responded with one of the top seasons by a Frog in the last decade. Among Gad s season highlights were: 4Earned a pair of major honors, being named both to the All-Big 12 First Team and the PING All-Central Region Team. They marked the two top honors of Gad s Frog career. 4Finished the season ranked No. 72 in the Golfstat Cup national rankings and No. 80 in the Golfweek national performance index. FANTASTIC FRENCH FRESHMAN TCU received a boost during its run to a top-10 national ranking due to the arrival of Paul Barjon, a high-impact addition who ranked as one of world s top-100 amateur golfers. Following a brief adjustment period due to challenges of adapting to life both in the United States and college, Barjon was fantastic. He earned his first collegiate tournament victory at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford, and posted top-25 finishes in five of his last six events.
