3 GENERAL INFORMATION THE HOTEL AND ISLAND From Mauna Kea s winter snow-capped mountaintop to the flowing lava of Kilauea Volcano to tropical rainforests and a teeming undersea world, the Big Island of Hawaii has much to offer TRBA members. The Fairmont Orchid is a Four-Diamond 32-acre luxury oceanfront resort along the beautiful Kohala Coast with a white sand lagoon, Hawaiian Spa Without Walls, fitness center, golf, tennis, six restaurants and a children s program. Enjoy all of the amenities of the Fairmont Orchid, including in-room Keurig coffee makers, beach and poolside ice water and nightly live Hawaiian music. CLIMATE AND DRESS The average daily maximum temperature for Hawaii in February is 82 degrees and the average minimum 67 degrees. The dress is easy because it is casual - casual sportswear and comfortable shoes for day. For evenings, dresses and pants outfits for the ladies and sport shirts for the men will be fine. Jackets and ties are not generally required for men in the restaurants. The President s Reception and Dinner is casual. The Sunday night reception/buffet and the Wednesday President s Reception/Dinner will both be held outdoors. RENTAL CARS All major companies are available at the Kona-Keohole International Airport (KOA), 30 minutes south of the resort. Dollar/Hertz Rent-a-Car maintains a desk at the resort with cars available. The desk is open every day from 8:00 am 4:00 pm. Their direct number is ROOM RESERVATIONS The rooms at the Fairmont Orchid are Garden View $339; Partial Ocean View $359; Ocean View $389 and Deluxe Ocean View $409. Added to your room is % tax. The $30 resort charge will be offered at the reduced rate of $10 and includes the following: unlimited basic internet access, self-parking for one vehicle per room, nightly housekeeping turndown service with bottled water, 24 hour access to the fitness center, on-demand shuttle transportation within the Mauna Lani Resort, 10% discount on published pricing for the Gathering of the Kings luau when booked through the hotel concierge, one-hour snorkel equipment rental (based on two sets per day), complimentary local and phone calls and various cultural activities. 7 TRBA ANNUAL MEETING GOLF GOLF Mauna Lani Resort South Course, renown as the former home to the annual Senior Skins Game from , snakes through the stark, rugged a a lava of the prehistoric Kaniku lava flow. The challenging South course offers the golfer panoramic views of the mountain and ocean. The South Course is also home to the No. 15, one of the most photographed over-the-water golf course holes in the world.
