2 About the Tournament We are pleased to present the Second Annual Golf Tournament to support the important work done by Community Memorial was the inaugural Community Memorial Golf Tournament which entailed a full field of golfers who enjoyed a round of golf at the Seven Oaks Golf Club a top collegiate course and voted as one of the top public golf courses in New York State by Golf Magazine. In addition, a partnership with Callaway provided golfers with a great selection of gift options. The golfers enjoyed a great meal at The Colgate Inn, where awards and prizes were given. Comments from golfers were excellent. They enjoyed the pace of the day and prizes were given to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 13th place foursomes. Only 2 door prizes were given and the winner of the 50/50 raffle was announced. It was truly a day to remember, and the funds raised greatly surpassed the committees expectations. This was all thanks to the chair of the 2016 golf tournament, Michael Martin. In October of 2016, we were deeply saddened by Michael s sudden passing. Therefore, it was without question that Community Memorial has dedicated the golf tournament and its title to Michael Martin. Michael graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1964, and Colgate University in He worked on behalf of his beloved Colgate University as a long- term member of both the Alumni Council and the Board of Trustees. He served his adopted community of Hamilton, NY by advising the Hamilton Initiative and was currently serving on the Hamilton Community Memorial Hospital Foundation Board. At home in South Carolina, Michael was a founder of The Golf Club at Briar s Creek, and a member of its Executive Board and Advisory Board. Michael was an Executive Vice President with AXA-Equitable Life Insurance and worked for nearly 40 years with the company until his retirement in 2004.
