This is a great chance to meet veteran and new members of all skill levels. I would like to acknowledge two veteran members who coordinate these Skin games on the weekends: Rick Evans and Al Fredrickson. Both of these gentlemen go out of their way to organize these events every weekend. Next time you see Rick and Big Al; you may want to say Thank You for the great job they are doing! Good luck to all members that have entered the upcoming President s Cup. Matches will start in May. Our next general meeting will be at Birdie s on Thursday, May 4, 2017, starting at 7:30 PM. ALHAMBRA, CA PHONE (626) Club Information MEMBER OUTING We are scheduling a member outing on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at beautiful Pelican Hill Ocean Course North in Newport Coast. The cost is $160 per player (regular price is $315) includes golf, cart and range balls. We will also have a skins and closes to the pins game. It will be fun and challenging day of golf. 3 AMGC Pro Report MEETING NIGHT EVENT DERBY (aka Horse Race) - Join in the fun and plan to arrive early for the April General Meeting and bring your clubs! The Alhambra Golf Shop will host a DERBY prior to the meeting. A Derby is played as a two (2) man team/alternate shot event with a partner that is assigned by the Golf Shop to balance teams as equitable as possible from those that enter. All players tee off from the #1 tee at the same time, in one giant group! Shots are alternated between you and your partner until the ball is holed. The highest scoring team is eliminated on each hole (Ties are played off by a chip off). Play continues until three (3) teams remain who then play one last hole to determine the Win, Place and Show teams. Entry Fee is $20.00 per Player which includes golf, cart, and payout to the top three teams. Post Time (entry deadline) is 5:00 P.M. in the golf shop. 4 Tournament Report Carl Fernandez NOTE: A Player whose age plus his current handicap is equal to or is greater than 100, that Player (if he chooses) can play from the White Tees on ALL holes. Your Handicap will be adjusted to reflex "White Tee" vs the Blue Tees. In some case that could be a 2 to 3 stroke difference. You must let me know during the sign up period for that Tournament. HIGHLIGHTS: We had a real nice turnout, for our 2 Man Shamble Tournament. 44 Teams participated. For the Low Gross we had the Team of Gil Martin and Miguel Vasquez shooting a very nice "64". While we had 2 Team with the Low Net. Bill Minkler and Guest Jeff Patrick were in the "B" flight. And The Father/Son Team of Matt and Maurice Norrington had the Low New for the "C" flight. Both Teams recorded a Low "51". We had 3 Gross Skins, each worth $ with Eagles. G. Martin / M. Vasquez #1. K. Murao / M. Ortiz on #6. The other G/S goes to R. Aguirre / C. Fornelli with their Birdie on #13. We had 4 Net Skins, each worth $105. The President s Cup and 2 Man Team Match Play has been posted in the breezeway. PLEASE make sure that you read the Rules governing these matches and complete each round within the allotted time. Both the President s Cup and our 2 Man Team Match Play, must complete their first round by May 31st. Each round thereafter must be completed each month. Part of the package I ed each participate, were phone numbers and addresses of ALL who are taking part in these matches. Good Luck to ALL.. While Efrain Ruiz and Hector Ramirez are working the Last Check In Table. This month s format is Individual Stroke Play, being played May 21st. The weekend following Mother s Day. Deadline for signing up is Saturday, May 13th. If you are looking for a PREFERRED TEE TIME, you have to attend the General Meeting and take part in our Preferred Tee Time drawing. Don t wait for the last minute. If you cannot attend our Monthly Meeting, stop by the Pro Shop anytime and fill out a sign up card and attach your entry fees. The Pro Shop has an envelope for Tournament Play, which I empty once a week.
