3 Fellowship of Christian Athletes 2016 Ryder Cup Dear Ryder Cup Participant: Thank you for your commitment to play in our annual FCA Ryder Cup on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the prestigious Sycamore Hills Country Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This event has the potential to be the most fun golf event you ve ever participated in! The adrenaline rush of sinking a putt that counts against some new (and some not so new!) friends is a lot of fun. In addition to playing some enjoyable golf, you will receive plenty of food and soft drinks throughout the day. Food and golf always a winning combination! What makes this an even better event is that the money raised will allow us to continue to expand the ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout Indiana. This year, our goal is to raise $20,000 through our participating golfers and sponsors to help us keep up with the tremendous growth we ve experienced over the past year, which includes potentially adding several new staff to better serve our schools. The money raised this year will support our growing campus ministries whose goals are to provide fellowship, outreach, and spiritual growth in their school and throughout their community. 4 2016 RYDER CUP The FCA Ryder Cup will be held at Sycamore Hills Golf Club on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 and will be comprised of a field of 24 golfers. We will split the participants into teams that will compete against one another in a Best Ball format. If you have recruited a partner to participate in the event with you, we will place you and your partner on the same team. Each golfer will be asked to do two simple things 1. Commit to give or raise $1,000 for Indiana FCA. 2. Enjoy a day of golf! The day of the event will be a no-cost day for each golfer. Your golf fees, cart fees, gift package, meals, snacks, and soft drinks will all be provided. THINGS TO REMEMBER SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 7:00 a.m. Registration Opens Practice Range Available 7:45 a.m. Event Rules, Announcements, and Pictures 8:00 a.m. Play Begins (Shotgun start) 12:15 p.m. Awards Reception and Lunch 1:00 p.m. Play Begins Round Two (Optional) Complete your Sponsor/Pledge Forms including a complete name, address, and phone number for all supporters prior to the day of the Ryder Cup (all prizes will be determined the day of the event.) Bring all checks and/or monies you have collected and turn them in at registration. Collect as many pledges as possible prior to the event. 5 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is the Ryder Cup format? Participants will be divided into teams and, with a partner, will compete against a pair from the other team. Each team will compete in a Best Ball format. How many holes of golf do I actually play? Each golfer will play the complete Sycamore Hills Golf Course 18 holes. Do I have to be a good golfer? No! We will pair people of similar abilities together so the competition is as fair as possible. We simply ask you try to keep the pace of play. Why should I play? Every year we are blessed with opportunities to minister to and through athletes and coaches in our schools and in our communities. As these ministry opportunities have grown over the past decade, so has our budget. This event simply helps us to maintain our ministry growth and, most importantly, it helps us to continue to share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with thousands of kids. How am I going to raise $1,000 in pledges? Although $1,000 may seem like a daunting task to some, it is an attainable goal. Enclosed in this packet are sample letters to send to individuals and potential corporate sponsors. Potential sponsors do not necessarily need to be familiar with the ministry of FCA, however, they do need to know that we are committed to serving the Lord! Do I have to collect the money? No, the FCA office will collect all pledges through the mail. However, we must have accurate information to collect these pledges. Many donors will prefer to give you their money. That is fine too. In order for them to receive a tax deduction, please be sure to have all checks made payable to FCA or Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The monies collected can be brought with you the day of the event and turned in at registration. Please just indicate if they have paid when you turn in your Sponsor/Pledge Form with COMPLETE information (name, address and phone #). 5

6 Dear On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, I will be playing in the FCA Ryder Cup to support the ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. FCA impacts the lives of thousands of young people in our community every year through its Campus and Camps Ministries. It is my honor to help them grow and, with the Lord s help, impact thousands of more people this year. The FCA Ryder Cup is a unique fundraiser that has very low overhead costs and that is why I am personally committed to do my best to help raise $1,000 to help FCA reach its goals of 1. Presenting the gospel to more than 12,000 students in over 300 schools through our FCA Campus Ministry; 2. Ministering to more than 700 young people who attend our local camps throughout the state. 3. Partnering with churches and other ministries to establish our Fields of Faith ministry to encourage our community to read the Bible and attend Bible teaching churches. Over the past 10 years the ministry of FCA has grown significantly. This event simply helps FCA maintain its ministry growth and, most importantly, it helps to continue to share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with thousands of young people.
