1 13-Day Golf Tour of New Zealand s South Island 31 March 12 April 2014 (See notes on page 6 regarding options for reduced length tour) Introduction We are really enthusiastic about this tour; it provides so much. Staying and playing at three of Australasia s top golf resorts; touring across New Zealand s South Island through spectacular scenery taking in the beautiful autumn colours; and entry into the 5-day Central Otago Autumn Golf Classic tournament. We played in the 2013 tournament and were so impressed with the presentation of all five courses, and the way the tournament was run, we felt it would be great to take a group to it in 2014; it is easy to see why there was a waiting list for the 2013 tournament. The tour itinerary is as follows: Monday, 31 March Our tour starts in Christchurch where we will either collect you from Christchurch Airport or meet you at Peppers Clearwater Resort. This afternoon we play golf at the Clearwater 18-hole championship golf course which is currently home to the New Zealand Open. This highly-rated course meanders around a succession of spring-fed lakes and troutfilled streams with uninterrupted views of the spectacular Southern Alps. Tonight we stay at the 5-star Peppers Clearwater Resort and invite you to join us for a welcome drink after your round of golf. Tuesday, 1 April This morning we depart Clearwater and take the 1¼-hour drive to Terrace Downs where we will be staying for the next two nights. Our accommodation is in well-appointed villas with incomparable views across the beautifully manicured golf course and up to the Southern Alps. Winner of the 2010 World Travel Awards as New Zealand's leading golf resort, Terrace Downs is perched on the edge of the spectacular Rakaia River. The Resort boasts stunning views up to Mt Hutt and offers a host of activities including archery, clay bird shooting, fishing, tennis, walking tracks and health spa. This afternoon play the Terrace Downs championship golf course which is ranked amongst the best in New Zealand. 2 2 Wednesday, 2 April Today choose what you would like to do. Make the most of this lovely resort and select from the many on-site and local activities on offer (price of these activities not included in tour package). Should anyone wish to try one of the other local golf courses we will be happy to transport you. Thursday, 3 April We take the interesting and scenic drive to Arrowtown, taking in views of Australasia s tallest mountain, Mt Cook. In total we have a 5-hour drive so we will be making at least two stops, one which will include Lake Tekapo which is renowned for its vibrantly coloured turquoise lake and also the small chapel overlooking the lake referred to as the Church of the Good Shepherd. Our accommodation for the next three nights will be at the beautiful Millbrook Resort overlooking the golf course, the mountains or the Millbrook grounds. Millbrook was recently named, for the third year running, Australasia s best golf resort. Friday, 4 April Today we play golf at Millbrook. The course is set in a natural alpine amphitheatre against a backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range. It boasts 27 holes of championship golf with beautiful surroundings making it one of New Zealand s most highly rated courses. Saturday, 5 April A day at leisure. Queenstown is extremely picturesque and there is plenty to see and do in the region. Some suggestions include a day trip to the beautiful Milford Sound, a wine tour of some of the great wineries the region has to offer; for the adrenalin junkies choose between sky-diving, bungy jumping jet boating, white water rafting and more. For a slightly less intense day visit one of the regions many health spas, take a cruise on the lake, try a spot of fishing, browse around the town or take a stroll around the lake. Millbrook Resort is very close to the historic town of Arrowtown which was a gold prospecting area of years gone by. This quaint town combines some good restaurants, cafes, gift shops, historical sites and is well worth a visit. Alternatively, make the most of the lovely Millbrook Resort with the many on-site activities on offer (price of these activities not included in tour package). Should anyone want to try one of the other local golf courses (which may be useful to get some inside knowledge for next week s tournament) we will be happy to transport you. There is also a free shuttle from Millbrook to and from Queenstown. Tonight we host our farewell dinner for this part of the tour, sharing fond memories and saying our goodbyes to those not joining us for the second part of our tour.

3 3 Sunday, 6 April After breakfast, for those not joining us on the second part of the tour we will transfer you into Queenstown or to the airport and pick up those joining us for the second part of the tour. We will then make our way to Cromwell, taking time en route to stop at some of the region s fine wineries where there will be opportunity for wine tasting and lunch (wine tasting and lunch at your own cost). We have chosen Cromwell as our base for the next four nights as it is centrally situated for the golf courses we play on over the first few days of the tournament. Cromwell has a population of about 4,000 and is situated on the shores of Lake Dunstan; it boasts a lot of gold mining history and being the centre of both the Central Otago fruit industry and New Zealand s fastest growing wine region, producing internationally acclaimed Pinot Noir. Whilst there will only be limited spare time during our stay in Cromwell, some of the activities you may wish to consider include visiting Lake Dunstan or the Clyde Dam, stopping at some of the vineyards, exploring the old Cromwell town or discovering the old mining history. Our accommodation is in modern, spacious luxury villas providing plenty of room to relax and socialise. Monday, 7 April Our first round of golf is at the Alexandra Golf Club which is an easy-walking, well-groomed course with tree-lined fairways and a few terraces to provide elevations on some holes. Tuesday, 8 April Today we play golf at the Cromwell Golf Club which has recently had a $1 million Greg Turner upgrade. This well-maintained course provides a good golfing challenge with some particularly interesting greens. After golf one of the tournament sponsors provides a wine tasting opportunity. Wednesday, 9 April Our third round of golf for the tournament is at Wanaka Golf Club. This is a lovely, well-maintained golf course with some great scenery and magnificent views of Lake Wanaka. Thursday, 10 April We depart Cromwell and take the 40-minute drive to Arrowtown where we play at Arrowtown Golf Club, which is a gem of a golf course. The course is not particularly long but has been carved out of the natural contours of the terrain with some fairways running through rocky outcrops. The surrounding backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range make for remarkable views! After golf and the daily prize giving we take the 20-minute drive into Queenstown where our accommodation for the next two nights is at the Millennium Hotel in a superior room.

4 4 Friday, 11 April Our final round of golf is at Queenstown Golf Club at Kelvin Heights. This course has a spectacular setting on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The course is probably the most physically challenging of the five we play in the tournament but you are rewarded with a course in excellent condition and offering many great views. After golf and the daily prize giving there will be time to get ready for this evening s final night dinner and tournament prize giving. Saturday, 12 April After breakfast, we will say our goodbyes and transfer those wishing to go to Queenstown Airport for their departure home. For those wishing to extend their stay in Queenstown, we are happy to assist with making reservations or recommendations.

5 5 Inclusions: 12 nights in 4 to 5-star accommodation as described in itinerary. For the majority of our accommodation we have selected one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartment/villa style accommodation (each bedroom has its own bathroom). We believe that this works well for a tour of this nature, providing extra space for relaxing and socialising and the option for self-catering for those not wishing to dine out every night; Full buffet breakfast daily with the exception of the four days in Cromwell where we will provide continental breakfast supplies; Golf at Clearwater Resort, Terrace Downs and Millbrook Resort including electric cart hire and survival pack (water, fruit and snack bar); Entry into Central Otago Autumn Golf Classic tournament with golf at each of Alexandra, Cromwell, Wanaka, Arrowtown and Queenstown golf clubs. There is a prize pool valued at over $35,000 with both individual (split into 8 grades) and team (men s, ladies and mixed) prizes. We will organise our tour group into teams. In addition to the tournament prizes there are also daily prizes awarded. Please note electric cart or trundler hire will be an additional cost for these courses; Tour polo shirt; Welcome drinks on first night; Dinner at the fine dining Millhouse Restaurant at Millbrook on Saturday, 5 April (drinks not included); Final night dinner and prize giving at the fabulous Skyline Restaurant. This is a threecourse dinner and includes complementary gondola ride to and from the restaurant; Transfers and touring in late model Mercedes minibus. 6 6 Notes 1. Group Size: The maximum group size for this tour will be 16. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment and require a 10% deposit to secure your booking; the balance is payable by 28 February Shorter Tour Options: Should anyone only wish to join us for nights 1 to 6 (31 March to 5 April inclusive) or for nights 7 to 12 (6 April to 11 April inclusive) these are available as follows: Nights 1 to 6 Nights 7 to 12 $1,650 per person twin share $1,250 per person twin share Please note preference will be given to those booking the full tour. 3. Auckland Travellers: For those travelling from Auckland for the full tour we can currently offer air fares at $300 per person (this price is subject to availability and change) which covers: - Air fares Auckland/Christchurch and Queenstown/Auckland on Air New Zealand; - Additional baggage allowance to cover golf bag (i.e. a baggage allowance of two checked-in items up to 23kg each). 4. Electric Carts/Trundlers (Trolleys): We have included electric cart hire for the first part of the tour where the courses tend to be longer and typical of a resort style with greater distances from green to tee. Please let us know if you would like us to reserve electric carts or trundlers/trolleys for you during the 5-course tournament and we will advise cost and availability. There is also the option to bring your own trundler/trolley; please let us know if you wish to do this so we can ensure we have sufficient luggage capacity. 5. Golf Tournament Days (7-11 April): Please note that we have requested to play the courses in the order listed in the itinerary. However, it is subject to change and is at the discretion of the tournament organisers. Also, this year whilst any golfer can play in the tournament, the maximum handicap given will be 24 for men and 30 for ladies. Generally the tee-off times are between 9.30am and 11.00am which avoids the need for early starts and late finishes. After each day s golf there is a daily prize giving and each course has a pro shop, bar and catering facilities. We have not planned anything specific during the evenings. There is a good range of local dining options or the villa in Cromwell is well suited to dining in. 6.
