1 A LEUKEMIA AND CANCER RESEARCH BENEFIT Our Story Every August for the past 40 years, the Killebrew-Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament in Sun Valley, Idaho has gathered celebrities, members of Congress, corporate sponsors, participants and supporters with one common goal: to find a cure for leukemia and other cancers. Founded in 1976 by Harmon Killebrew and Ralph Harding in memory of the Minnesota Twins shortstop, Danny Thompson, KTM is considered one of the leading fundraisers of its kind for cancer research. $15.6+ MILLION Our Cause The event proceeds benefit two recipients: the St. Luke s Mountain States Tumor Institute in Boise Idaho, and the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center in Minneapolis Minnesota. We are proud to announce that the 2016 contribution to our beneficiaries totaled $860,000. Due to the dedicated commitment of our supporters over the years, the Tournament has raised in excess of $15.6 million which has gone directly to cancer research. Our beneficiaries leverage these funds through various matching grant programs, increasing the impact of our donation to the million dollar level annually. Participating in this worthy cause not only makes important strides in cancer research possible but also provides four days of enjoyment for you and your guests in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho. 3 2017 TOURNAMENT FORMAT FORMAT FOR PLAY The format will be a four-person, two best-ball over a two day tournament on the Sun Valley and Elkhorn courses. TEES TO BE PLAYED AS FOLLOWS: Men - Max handicap of 24 per player. Women - Max handicap of 36 per player. Each player whose score is counting for the team must putt out. Scores and handicaps are subject to review after each round by Handicap Chairman Jeff Petersen, PGA. PURCHASED MULLIGANS Two (2) per day, available for purchase at registration. Sun Valley Women... Forward/Red Men... White Men 65+ and handicap > Resort Men Forward Golf Pros... Black Elkhorn Copper Gold Silver Copper Black Can be used for any stroke on a hole, excluding contest holes (closest to pin and longest drive). HANDICAP INDEX The handicap index of GHIN for both courses will be based on Sun Valley s course rating. Last year s posted tournament scores may be considered for this year s handicap adjustments by the Handicap Committee. The Committee reserves the right to adjust handicaps at any time during the tournament. The adjusted participant s handicap may be used for individual low net and team scores. PRACTICE ROUNDS Practice rounds for tournament players are available on both courses Wednesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 17 (one on each course per player, two rounds total). Please make tee times in advance. To better accommodate all players please cancel any tee times 48 hours in advance. Sun Valley: , Elkhorn: The golf courses will have a list of KTM tournament players for practice tee times when you check in with them at the clubhouse. Please contact our office for practice round special requests CLUB RENTALS To make arrangements for club rentals, please contact the Sun Valley Clubhouse at Participants are responsible for the rental charges. AWARDS Awards will be presented to the three lowest scoring teams over the two-day tournament, and to the low individual net and gross scores for both men and women. Longest drive and closest to the pin will also be awarded for both courses.
