1 Department 1 Junior Beef Cattle Division September 8-10, 2016 ENTRIES IN THIS DEPARTMENT OPEN ONLY TO 4-H & FFA Show Committee: Cherrie Curtis, Mark Fullenwider, Shane Plyler Arrival: Thursday, Sept. 8th must be check in and in place by 6:00PM Judging: Friday, 9/9 - Long-hair heifers at 9AM, Registered Long Haired breeds, Non-American Commercial Heifers, and Showmanship. Saturday, 9/10, Short-hair heifers at 9AM Registered Short Haired breeds, American Commercial Heifers and, ALL Steers, and Showmanship. Release: Following the conclusion of the show, Saturday, September 10 th as designated by Livestock Director. JUNIOR BEEF CATTLE EXHIBIT RULES (See Exhibitors General Rules & Regulations) IF YOU ARE NOT READY WHEN YOUR CLASS IS CALLED YOU WILL BE SCRATCHED! RULE 1. ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Junior Beef Cattle Division is limited to members in good standing with their 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Exhibitors must be enrolled in, and attending, public or private elementary or secondary school. Students must be between 3 rd and 12 th grade. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE OWNED 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE SHOW RULE 2. OWNERSHIP OF ANIMALS: To be eligible for competition, animals must be the sole property of the exhibitor. All animals entered for competition in the breeding classes must be entered in the name of the owner and must have been owned by the exhibitor not less than thirty days prior to the opening day of the fair. A copy of registration certificates of ownership must be presented at time of check in. RULE 3. ENTRY DEADLINE: ALL JUNIOR BEEF CATTLE ENTRIES WILL CLOSE AUGUST 26, ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE & PAID ONLINE at PLEASE BRING YOUR COMPUTER RECEIPT WITH YOUR QR CODE TO CHECK IN. In all cases, the Four States Fair reserves the right to accept or reject an application for entry. RULE 4. ENTRY FEES/FORMS: An entry fee of $25 per head must be paid online at time of registration. ALL entries must be made as a club through AG Science Teacher or County Extension agents. The exhibitor and animal information must complete all information otherwise entry will not be accepted. If you wish to be stalled next to another club or chapter please mail this information in on your printed computer receipt, and we will try to accommodate your request. Stall assignments will be made off of the printed computer receipt; however, this does not guarantee stall spaces. Stall space is on a First Come, First Received basis. Late entries will NOT be accepted. Substitutions will be accepted at $10 fee per head through check-in. ENTRY FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. TIE OUTS ARE LIMIMTED AND WILL BE ASSIGNED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS AT $5 A SPACE. All cattle must remain inside the barn from 8AM until 8PM. GENERATORS ARE ALLOWED OUTSIDE THE BARN ONLY!! RULE 5. All animals will be required to have a current health certificate issued by license veterinarian that conforms to the requirements of Arkansas Animal Health Commission - see General Rules and Regulations. All females 20 months & older must be accompanied by a certificate of pregnancy from a licensed veterinarian, have produced fertile eggs, as certified in a written statement by a licensed veterinarian or embryologist, or have a calf at her side. RULE 6. PASSES: Each Exhibitor will be given a pass, which is one person and one vehicle pass entrance at south gate. Each exhibitor will be allowed to purchase additional passes/parking permit for $15 each at time of entry only. The parking permit will allow parking in designate parking only. Passes will be given to AST or CEA at time of check in. NO ONE ALLOWED ON GROUNDS WITHOUT REQUIRED PASSES. RULE 7. Exhibitor must be able to have full control of animal or risk disqualification.
2 RULE 8. Any violation of these rules will cost a forfeiture of all premiums earned by the exhibitor. In the interest of improving the Junior Show, the Four States Fair requests that the County Agents, Ag. Science teachers certify as to the eligibility of both the exhibitor and the animal entered by the exhibitor in the Four States Fair Junior Show. RULE 9. ALL PROTESTS SHALL BE MADE TO THE LIVESTOCK DIRECTOR IN WRITING IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CONCLUSION OF JUDGING. SUCH PROTESTS MUST STATE PLAINLY THE CAUSE OF COMPLAINT AND ACCOMPANIED BY $100 DEPOSIT. JUDGING PROCEDURES WILL NOT BE INTERRUPTED FOR PROTEST INVESTIGATION. DECISIONS OF THE LIVESTOCK SHOW COMMITEE ARE FINAL, PENDING A COMPLETE INVESTIGATION. RULE 10. There will be NO PUMPING, No grooming chutes, trimming stalls, electrical clippers or other such devices allowed on the show grounds during the Junior Show. The show grounds consist of the entire area encircled in the fence of the Four States Fairgrounds. Scissors and cordless clippers may be used. Grooming Products will be allowed with the exception of any adhesive products, or any artificial coloring products (paint, dye, etc.) No custom fitters/fitting will be allowed unless they are assisting immediate family members. RULE 11. In all breeds there must be 5 or more of the same sex to constitute a breed. When less than 5 of the same sex are entered, they will show in other breeds. When 5 or more of the same sex of a breed not listed below are entered, that breed section will be added. Breed breakdown may be changed or modified at the discretion of the Four States Fair Staff and Show Committee. F-1 is eligible to compete in commercial class. Commercial heifers should indicate on entry what breed or cross for classification purposes. Commercial heifers will be classed by weight at time of check in. RULE 12. BREEDS: Angus Hereford Shorthorn Beefmaster Limousin Simbrah Braford Maine-Anjou Simmental Brahman Maintainer Simm Solution Brangus Red Angus Other Registered Breeds Charolais Santa Gertrudis Commercial Heifers Chianina ORB Heifers will be broken down by breed type. Commercial Heifers will be broken into two divisions: American, Non- American. COMMERCIAL CLASSES WILL BE BROKEN DOWN BY WEIGHT. Commercial Steers will be broken down by weight. Be sure to indicate short or long haired. RULE 13. ARRIVAL & RELEASE: All entries in the Junior Livestock Division must be in place in the barn by 6PM. Thursday, September 10 th unless otherwise approved by the Livestock Director. REGISTRATION PAPERS VERIFIED AT CHECK-IN! Animals will be released 8:30 PM Saturday, September 12 th. Any other times must be approved by the Livestock Director. Anyone leaving before this time will forfeit all premiums. Animals not checked-in by 6 PM - September 10 th will be scratched. Animals that will be exhibiting in the Open Livestock Show can remain in place in the barn. RULE 14. Shavings will be available for a fee. Stall area MUST be cleaned before release. All hay and manure must be disposed of in the dumpsters at rear of barn. PLEASE PLACE YOUR WASTE PRODUCTS TO THE FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER. DO NOT PLACE MANURE IN THE BLUE TRASH BARRELS. NO SMOKING IN LIVESTOCK BARN BY ORDER OF THE TEXARKANA FIRE MARSHALL.

SHOWMANSHIP: ENTRIES WILL BE MADE ON THE DAY YOUR RESPECTED BREED SHOWS. The exhibitor must show an animal entered and exhibited by them during the Junior Breed Show. EXHIBITOR CAN ONLY PARTICIPATE ONE DAY!!! RULE 17. C.C. TURNER ~ HERDSMAN AWARD: The Four States Fair Association will present a trophy to the 4-H Club or FFA Chapter that has displayed good herdsman conduct at the Junior Livestock show. Judging will be based on general appearance and neatness of stalls and cattle as well as the exhibitor's cooperation with Fair officials and the general public. Judging will begin at Thursday afternoon, September 10 th and continue through 6PM, Saturday, September 12 th. - To be eligible for Herdsman Award cattle must be in place from 8AM 8PM during the competition - Notify Livestock Committee/Director upon arrival that your club/chapter would like to participate. Score card will be used to determine the winner of the Herdsman Award. (All conditions will be taken into consideration and weighed accordingly) Awards 1st Place $100 & Trophy 2nd Place $75 3rd Place $50 BUCKLE CERTIFICATES WILL BE AWARDED TO BREED CHAMPIONS. THERE MUST BE 3 OR MORE IN CHAMPION DRIVE FOR BUCKLES TO BE AWARDED.
4 Department 2 Open Beef Cattle Division September 11-12, 2016 Arrival: Sunday, September 11 th & Must be in place by 4:00PM Judging: Monday, September 12 th at 10 AM Release: Monday, September 12 th at 8:30 PM Show Committee: Hal Hillis, William Gentry, Michael Meadows OPEN BEEF CATTLE EXHIBIT RULES (See Exhibitors General Rules & Regulations) RULE 1. ENTRY DEADLINE: Open Beef Cattle entries will close AUGUST 26, ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE & PAID ONLINE at PLEASE BRING YOUR COMPUTER RECEIPT WITH YOUR QR CODE TO CHECK IN. In all cases, the management reserves the right to accept or reject an application for entry and does not guarantee stall space. RULE 2. OWNERSHIP OF ANIMALS: To be eligible for competition, animals must be registered with their respective breed associations. Registry certificates of ownership checked. NO PENDING REGISTRATION PAPERS AT TIME OF CHECK IN. The exhibitor must complete all information; otherwise entry will not be accepted. RULE 3. ENTRY FEES/FORMS: An entry fee of $25 per head must be completed and paid online. Only online entries will be accepted. SUBSTITUTIONS may be made for $10 per head up until completion of check in on 9/13! ENTRY FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. Exhibit space is available for a $10 fee. In the event space is not available, fee will be refunded at check in of cattle. TIE OUTS ARE LIMIMTED AND WILL BE ASSIGNED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS AT $5 A SPACE. PASSES: PLEASE NOTE JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW PASSES WILL BE VALID THRU THE OPEN BEEF CATTLE SHOW. ADDITIONAL PASSES WILL NOT BE NECESSARY. Each exhibitor will receive one pass, and the pass will allow one person and one vehicle thru SOUTH GATE ONLY. EXTRA CAR PASSES issued 1 pass for every three entries. Passes will be picked up at the Livestock Office during check in. RULE 5. ARRIVAL & RELEASE: All entries in the Open Beef Cattle Division must be in place in the barn by 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 11 th REGISTRATION PAPERS WILL BE VERIFIED AT TIME OF CHECK-IN. Animals will be released at time designated by show committee Monday PM September 12 th. Any other times must be approved by the show coordinator or livestock director or exhibitor will forfeit all premiums. Animals not checked-in by 4:00 PM, September 11 th will be scratched. RULE 6. Weight Minimum 150# Maximum 280#. This will be a breed market show of gilts and barrows shown together there must be a minimum of 10 animals per breed if not they will show as AOB. RULE 9. Classes will be determined by weights. You must classify your own animals breed when weight is turned in, and show ring chairman will bump any animal unfit for that breed to crossbreed. Weigh back must be within 5% of what is turned in. ENTRY DEADLINE: Open Dairy Cattle entries will close AUGUST 26, ALL ENTRIES MUST BE COMPLETED & PAID ONLINE at PLEASE BRING YOUR COMPUTER RECEIPT WITH YOUR QR CODE TO CHECK IN. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. RULE 2. ENTRY FEES/ FORMS: An entry fee of $25 per head must be paid online when registering. Entries must be completed and paid online. Only online entries will be accepted. SUBSTITUTIONS may be made through time of check in for $10 per head fee! ENTRY FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. Exhibit space is available for a $10 fee. In the event space is not available, fee will be refunded at check in of cattle. TIE OUTS $5 A SPACE. NO GENERATORS IN BARN. RULE 3. PASSES: Each exhibitor will receive one pass. Each pass will allow 1 person and a vehicle thru the livestock (south) gate only, CAR PASSES issued 1 pass for every three entries. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED ON GROUNDS WITHOUT REQUIRED PASSES. Additional passes may be purchased for $10 each. RULE 4. OWNERSHIP OF ANIMALS: To be eligible for competition, animals must be registered with their respective breed associations. Registry certificates of ownership must be produced and will be checked at time of check in. NO PENDING REGISTRATION PAPERS AT TIME OF CHECK-IN. The exhibitor must complete all information; otherwise entry will not be accepted. RULE 5. No nurse cows are permitted on show grounds. No barren animals will be eligible in breeding classes. An affidavit stating that an animal of breeding age is a breeder must be furnished on request. RULE 6. ARRIVAL & RELEASE: All entries in the Open Dairy Cattle Division must be in place in the barn by 12PM (Noon), Friday, September 16 th. Animals will be released Saturday, September 17 th no earlier than 8PM. Any other times must be approved by the show manager or livestock director or exhibitor will forfeit all premiums. RULE 7. Exhibitor must be able to have full control of animal or risk disqualification. RULE 8. All animals will be required to have a current health certificate issued by licensed veterinarian, that conforms to the requirements of Arkansas Livestock & Poultry Commission - see General Rules and Regulations. (VISIT THE AR LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY COMMISSION WEBSITE FOR UPDATED INFORMATION AT ) RULE 9. In the interest of improving the Open Dairy Cattle Show, any violation of these rules will cost a forfeiture of all premiums earned by the exhibitor.
10 RULE 10. ALL PROTESTS SHALL BE MADE TO THE LIVESTOCK DIRECTOR IN WRITING IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CONCLUSION OF JUDGING. SUCH PROTESTS MUST STATE PLAINLY THE CAUSE OF COMPLAINT AND ACCOMPANIED BY $100 DEPOSIT. JUDGING PROCEDURES WILL NOT BE INTERRUPTED FOR PROTEST INVESTIGATION. DECISIONS OF THE LIVESTOCK DIRECTOR AND FAIR MANAGEMENT ARE FINAL, PENDING A COMPLETE INVESTIGATION. RULE 11. In all breeds there must be 5 or more of the same sex to constitute a breed. When less than 5 of the same sex are entered, they will show in other breeds. When 5 or more of the same sex of a breed not listed below are entered, that breed section will be added. RULE 12. Shavings will be available for a fee. Stall area MUST be cleaned before release. All hay and manure must be disposed of in the dumpsters at rear of barn.
