Horseless Horse/Groom Project members (HHG) may only enter under class H & R. Horseless Horse Project members, (HHG) you may only enter one showmanship class. If you enter Beginner Showmanship, you may enter Beginners Equitation, Poles, or Trail in Hand. You many only enter as a HHG or a regular member, not both. Members exhibiting in the Walk/Trot classes may not cross enter in Walk/Trot/Canter Classes. (If you re in drill team, you must enter Walk/Trot/Canter Classes if you canter in drill team). Only Sheboygan County 4 H Horse and Pony Project members in good standing are eligible to exhibit. Only the 4 H member who has properly identified a certain animal may exhibit it. Identification Sheets will be compared with the animal by Superintendents. Grade based on your grade on January 1 of exhibit year. All exhibitors must check in at the horse arena show office with their entry tickets. Check in times are between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m., Wednesday of fair week or between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon Thursday of fair week. HHG also need to check in their entry tickets. Proper boots or hard soled shoes with heels are required for any riding done on the fairgrounds and are encouraged when working around the animals. SEI EQUINE certified helmets with attached harness must be securely fastened and must be worn at all times when mounted (including in the show ring) THIS IS A STATE POLICY THAT MUST BE ADHERED TO. ADULTS PARTICIPATING IN CLASSES ON SUNDAY/MONDAY MUST WEAR EQUINE SEI HELMETS. HORSE/PONY: No stallion 1 year or older can be shown. Age of any equine is based on their age as of January 1 st of current year. A horse may be exhibited in more than one Pleasure Class or Halter Class. A horse may not compete against itself. Committee or judge may dismiss any animal they feel is endangering the safety of persons or other animals.
2 Any animal 56 inches and under may enter either Horse or Pony classes. NOTE: Once you have entered a pony division, you must remain in the pony division for the entire show. Vaccinations for Eastern/Western encephalomyelitis tetanus, influenza and negative coggins test within the calendar year are required for all animals exhibited at fair. Proof of vaccinations (i.e. vet certificate or receipt) will be required. It is recommended that a booster flu/4 1 be given 2 weeks prior to fair. It is strongly recommended that Rabies vaccinations be kept current, West Nile Boosters are current and that regular deworming is part of your animal project. CLASSES: A fifth entry is offered for 4 H members ages 14 & older; The Patrick Rogers Memorial Equitation/Horsemanship Class. This is not a premium class and members need to sign up for this class by Thursday of the fair. A fifth entry is offered for members 13 & under, The Nancy Becker Memorial Equitation/Horsemanship Class. This lot is not a premium class and members sign up for this class on Thursday of the fair. Trail Class, Lots , are state qualifying class. Trail class will have a time limit per obstacle. All entries in the W/T/C Trail Class, Lots are eligible for the Zazpiakbat Trail Class Trophy. The rider/horse with the best score among all riders in those Trail Class lots wins the trophy. The following classes are NOT state qualifying: Hunter Hack, Halter, Beginner HHG Classes, Trail in Hand, Patrick Rogers & Nancy Becker Memorial Classes, Gymkhana (Speed) Classes as well as all members in 3 rd 5 th grade group and the Walk/Trot Classes, (with the exception of the Walk/Trot/HHG). If you are unsure at the time of entry if you ll be bringing your ID d horse or pony, enter horse classes as there will be no changes that can be made after your entries are submitted. The Walk/Trot classes are open to exhibitors who have not shown in more the 3 shows or received professional training on a regular basis. Walk/Trot classes judging is based on cleanliness, fitness health, handling abilities and on relationship between horse and exhibitor. Exhibitors in Walk/Trot Showmanship Class I may not show in other showmanship classes or HHG classes, you may enter in Halter classes (Classes B & F) but the horse may not compete against itself. However, a horse may enter classes with another exhibitor. Remember if you enter Walk/Trot you will only be allowed to participate in Walk/Trot for all events. If you question what you should enter, consult a horse and pony leader Classes will be split or combined when necessary. This will be at the judge s discretion. GENERAL: Stall space will be provided for one animal per member as space allows. The Horse & Pony committee will assign stalls for members by club. Trailer permits are required for all trailers kept at fair as explained in Horse & Pony Handbook. In the event of more horses than stalls, trailering in will be necessary the selection process is based upon a committee decision. The judge has the right to combine any lots that have less than four (4) entries and to split any lots with more than eighteen (18) entries or as safety requires. You will need to record w/superintendent a Premise ID# and negative coggins test when registering for fair & state expo. All rules as contained in the Horse & Pony Handbook will apply to all members; State 4 H Horse Show Guidelines and Rules will apply when applicable. Any infringement of the rules may result in the loss of premium money and loss of eligibility to show at State Expo and State Gymkhana.
