Riding Changes: Race 2: J Taylor replaced R Brewer (overweight explanation accepted) Race 8: K Bell-Pitomac replaced C Williams (became ill) General: Trainer Mr. A Foran was fined $200 AR175F (5) for failing to provide properly updated treatment records for his stable upon request during a routine stable inspection 31/5/18. Race 1: Maiden Plate 1100m Smith shifted out under pressure inside the 150m. Spellmaker raced greenly under pressure and was hampered and had to eased near the 50m. Applicant was crowded shortly after the start, then over raced during the middle stages. On A Comet shifted out under pressure near the 150m. Austinmer began awkwardly. Race 2: Maiden Handicap 1300m Funky Farm was crowded and became unbalanced passing the 900m. Zarmax was hampered and carried in passing the 1200m, then was forced wider passing the 200m. Dorreego slow to begin.

2 Julie Magic J Hull the rider of Zarmax, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137a), in that passing the 1100m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Philadora, which struck the heels of Zarmax and blundered, resulting in Julie Magic which was following, being checked and shifted out abruptly. J Hull s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence 5/6/18 and expire 13/6/18, on which day he may resume. Swift And Shift a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. More To Say raced in restricted room inside the 150m when improving. Our Man Lincoln had to be steadied and shifted in, to avoid the heels of Oakfield Ella (J Taylor), which shifted out passing the 200m when not quite clear. J Taylor was reprimanded (AR137a). Philadora began awkwardly and raced ungenerously in the early stages, then was carried wider passing the 200m. Race 3: Maiden Plate 1600m Augusta In April hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight, which disadvantaged its rider. Trainer Mr. R Northam said that the gelding would be spelled. Regardless, Mr. Northam was advised that a warning for hanging in would be placed on Augusta In April s racing record. Litt Up over raced during the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer Mr. T McIntosh said that the gelding would be spelled. Story Of Tong Sai slow to begin. Sydney Approach slow to begin. The Naked Truth slow to begin, then over raced in the early stages.

3 Caribbean Beauty slow to begin. Faustine when questioned, A Bullock explained that his mount travelled relatively well until the 500m, however failed to respond when placed under pressure and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Race 4: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1600m Hot Pistol raced ungenerously with its head up during the middle stages, then hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Want To Bolt (placed 2 nd ). The rider G Ryan viewed the official race footage of the home straight and declined to lodge an objection against the winner. Crossing Guard after being placed into the barrier became fractious, reared and when becoming cast across the dividing partition, made heavy contact with the head of Collins Street. Both runners were subsequently declared unfit by the club s veterinary officer at 2.06pm. When correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on Crossing Guard and Hot Pistol be refunded in full and all other successful wagers placed prior to 2.06pm, be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1 st Hot Pistol 19 cents Win & 18 cents Place 2 nd Want To Bolt 21 cents Place 3 rd Coolaminyah Kid 18 cents Place Stable representative Mr. N Perry was advised that prior to racing again Crossing Guard must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Coolaminyah Kid when questioned in relation to his vigour in the home straight, V Bolozhinskyi explained that when winning on the gelding at its 2 most recent runs, it had resented the whip and after applying one back handed strike near the 450m he again felt his mounts reluctance to respond. He said that Coolaminyah Kid was fully extended under strong hands and heels vigour and ran to the finish well inside the 150m. Race 5: Benchmark 65 Handicap 1100m Painted Lady began awkwardly. Race 6: Class 3 Handicap 1300m B El-Issa was reprimanded (AR83a), in relation to his conduct when involved in a heated verbal exchange in the weighing room with Apprentice M Weir following the running of this race.

4 Excelamour when questioned in relation to his ride rounding the home turn, A Gibbons explained that he was aware that Marathon was racing inside him behind the leader, however his mount was travelling strongly and he expected it to respond well to his vigour. He said that he had formed the view that the best section of the track was away from the running rail and this was the reason that he shifted wider at the 400m, however he was unable to shift Invincible Bot wider and his mount did not respond as strongly as he had expected. Elle s Nel was momentarily unbalanced after contacting Gronky at the entrance to the home straight. Gronky was hampered and forced slightly wider at the entrance to the home straight. Prior to the declaration of correct weight consideration was given to lodging an objection on behalf of the connections, against Elle s Nel, the third-place getter, however upon review it was determined that the placings would not have been altered because of the incident. Race 7: Class 1 Handicap 1000m Sovereign Eminence slow to begin. Yeoman began awkwardly. Happy Mo began awkwardly and was slow away. Petra Jewel began awkwardly and was slow away. Race 8: Class 1 Handicap 1400m Chosen Prince was buffeted between runners in the early stages. Tale Of Eight slow to begin. Bled during the race. Trainer Mr. S Hodge was advised of the provisions of AR53 relative to first event bleeders. Athena s Voice experienced difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight and had to be eased and shifted out to go forward approaching the 200m.
