STEWARDS: P C Dingwall (Chairman), T P Moxon, T J Vassallo, S T Matthews and cadets T J Lee, R W Loughlin and S C Knight (alm) LATE RIDING CHANGES: As J Innes Jr was indisposed due to personal reasons, the Stewards permitted the following rider substitution: Race 4 Round Mountain Gal K O Hara As C Reith was indisposed due to illness, the Stewards permitted the following rider substitution: Race 8 Rare Episode T Clark RACE 1 ANZ Bloodstock News Sprint 1100m Georgia Hit slow to begin. Colestah was crowded on jumping between Antonio and Kentford, which shifted in. In this incident, Kentford was bumped on the hindquarter and became unbalanced. Cinquedea began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Approaching the 700m, Darkhawk improved quickly to the inside of Cinquedea, which at this time was endeavouring to shift behind Home Scene to obtain cover. As a result, Darkhawk was carried in slightly by Cinquedea and made heavy contact with Kentford resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. In this incident, Darkhawk got its head up when being restrained and shifted out. When the rider of Cinquedea relieved the tightening, Cinquedea lost significant ground when it shifted out abruptly. River Bird, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Cinquedea then travelled wide and without cover thereafter. Darkhawk began awkwardly River Bird from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Near the 400m, River Bird, which was held up, was hampered when Kentford became awkwardly placed on the heels of the tiring Skyann and shifted out slightly. Home Scene raced wide and without cover throughout. Skyann B Avdulla reported that Skyann, which was having its first race start today, was under pressure from the 600m to maintain its position. He said that he was still confident that his mount would finish in the placings, however after he received significant interference near the 250m, he desisted from riding his mount over the final 150m as he had some concerns as to its welfare. A Adkins (Colestah) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 250m, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Skyann causing that horse to lose its rightful running and to be checked. Kentford, which was following, was hampered and shifted to the

2 inside of Skyann to avoid that runner's heels. A Adkins licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of time to commence on Sunday, 2 December 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 13 December 2018, on which day he may ride again. A post race veterinary examination of Skyann revealed no abnormalities. Prolongo a post race veterinary examination revealed Prolongo to have lost both hind plates. RACE 2 Tab.com.au Plate1550m Ocean Dash bounded on jumping and lost ground (4L). Near the 250m, was steadied to avoid the heels of Picaro, which was racing ungenerously and shifted out slightly. Black Sunrise after being slow to begin was ridden vigorously throughout the early stages to obtain the lead. A post race veterinary examination revealed Black Sunrise to be lame (2/5) in the near hind leg. Co-trainer Mr A Bott was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Black Sunrise racing again. Dream Child was bumped on jumping by Wristband and then from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages, however travelled wide and without cover throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed Dream Child to be lame (1/5) in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr D Payne advised that the filly would now be retired. Notwithstanding this advice, Mr Payne was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required if Dream Child was to race again. Wristband from its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Near the 600m, Wristband became awkwardly placed on the heels of Collectivity, which was steadied from the heels of Flying Mojo. Near the 250m, commenced to lay out, shifted ground and made contact with Collectivity resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Picaro when questioned, rider T Clark explained that had he been asked to settle the gelding, which was up in distance tonight, in about a midfield position, if possible. He said that over a shorter distance at its most recent start, Picaro failed to finish the race off when ridden prominently. He said that with the fast tempo in the early stages, Picaro travelled well in a midfield position and when ridden in this manner, Picaro finished the race off fairly. Rock Zone a post race veterinary examination revealed Rock Zone to have sustained a mild abrasion to the off fore heel. RACE Membership Handicap 1900m Missybeel leaving the enclosure slipped and knuckled over resulting in rider T Clark being dislodged. Missybeel then galloped a considerable distance before being recaptured. Acting on veterinary advice, Missybeel was a late withdrawal at 7.10pm. The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Missybeel be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 7.10pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket. 1 st Tunero 4 cents win, 4 cents place 2 nd Via Veneto 4 cents place 3 rd San Francisco 8 cents place A veterinary examination revealed Missybeel to have sustained a laceration to the off side flank. Stable representative Mr J Bruce was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Missybeel racing again. T Clark was cleared to fulfilled his remaining riding engagements. Via Veneto after being loaded into the barriers, reared. Via Veneto was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race. Nautibernie began awkwardly and lost ground. Porky Pies despite being ridden vigorously in the early stages, failed to muster speed and was then shifted behind runners.

3 Triple Hero A Hyeronimus said that he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to cross and take up the lead, which he was able to do approaching the winning post on the first occasion. He said that leaving the straight, Triple Hero commenced to get its head on the side, shifted out and for this reason he encouraged the horse to take up a position closer to the rail. He said at this time, Triple Hero then commenced to race keenly and drew a margin on the field approaching the 1300m. He said that after this stage of the race, he was then able to rate Triple Hero at a more even tempo throughout the middle stages. Fantastic Man J Parr advised that the only excuse he could provide for his mount's disappointing performance was that it was making an abnormal respiratory noise at stages during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Thompson was advised that the Stewards deemed the performance to be unacceptable and ruled that Fantastic Man must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, would be required before being permitted to race again. RACE 4 The Agency Real Estate Handicap 1250m Love Shack Baby after beginning well, when caught wide in the early stages was shifted behind runners to obtain cover. App R Dolan (Southern Lad) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out rounding the home turn when not clear of Round Mountain Gal, which was carried out resulting in Love Shack Baby, which had not fully established running between Round Mountain Gal and Stryke Rock, being crowded. As a result, Love Shack Baby was then held up until the gelding was able to secure clear running to the inside of Round Mountain Gal near the 250m. Southern Lad slow to begin. Southern Lad raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Stryke Rock from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Let's Party Marty began awkwardly and was bumped on the hindquarter by Pierina and became unbalanced. Pembroke Castle passing the 150m, was hampered and its rider was obliged to steady his mount when tightened by Knight Arrow, which was shifted out to avoid the heels of Let's Parity Marty (B Avdulla) which shifted out under pressure. B Avdulla was advised to exercise care when shifting ground. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards were mindful that although the shift was of at least two horses by Let's Party Marty, this occurred when B Avdulla was endeavouring to change his whip over to his left hand, however the interference to the relevant horses was only of a minor nature. Pierina a post race veterinary examination revealed Pierina to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer Mr K Lees will be notified that Pierina will now incur the mandatory 3 month ban from racing and a 2 month ban from exercising or training under the provisions of AR53A. Furthermore Mr Lees will be advised that the mare will be required to barrier trial or gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. RACE 5 #Theraces Handicap 1550m Waruna was crowded on jumping between Francesco and Smiling Manolito. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider J McDonald stated that from his wide barrier, he was able to take up a midfield position, one off with cover without having to make use of his mount. He said that approaching the 600m, he shifted to the outside of Hammond Lane to commence improving as Hammond Lane was not providing him with a favourable trail into the race. He said that when placed under pressure near the 200m, Waruna, after initially responding to his efforts, peaked on its run prior to the 100m and weakened over the latter stages. J McDonald was of the view that Waruna may have reached the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. The Stewards deemed the performance of Waruna to be unacceptable and ruled Waruna must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

4 See The Master from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Whilst commencing to close the race off well, near the 200m proved somewhat reluctant to shift to the outside of Waruna to continue into clear running. Francesco a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 6 Canterbury Park Foodies Market Sprint 1100m Crimson Ticket slow to begin. When questioned, App R Dolan explained he had been asked to ride the horse prominently, if possible. He said that Crimson Ticket, which was having its first start and with blinkers under lights, began only fairly and given the quick early tempo, settled towards the rear of the field. He said that this position was uncustomary for Crimson Ticket and the mare was not suited when racing in this manner as it travelled strongly throughout the early and middle stages. He said that after the 500m, he was able to have Crimson Ticket relax and travel at a more even tempo, however the mare finished off fairly. Arizona Wildcat began awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages, however travelled wide and without cover throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (2/5) in the off fore leg. Trainer Mr L Hilton was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Arizona Wildcat racing again. Can I Rock rider T Clark explained that he had been asked to lead on the filly, if possible. He said in the early stages, Can I Rock was unable, despite his efforts, to match the early speed of the race and effectively box seated. He said that after the 700m, when Can't Find Snippy quickened, that runner drew a margin on his mount and despite his efforts to have Can I Rock improve, the horse only responded fairly. He said that Can I Rock failed to close the race off, but T Clark was of the view that the filly was not entirely comfortable racing inside other runners, as at its most recent starts it has been able to lead and dictate. RACE 7 Kia Evening Star 1100m Mr Tickets slow to begin. Mr Tickets, which was commencing to close the race off well, was inconvenienced near the 150m when Handfast shifted out slightly. Isorich was slow to begin and after being ridden along in the early stages, was crowded shortly after the start between Virgilio and Cash Crisis, which shifted out. Anecdote was bumped on jumping by Virgilio, which shifted out. Just Got Lucky was bumped on jumping by Fanning, which shifted in. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Sugar Bay Leonard from an outside barrier was shifted behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching and rounding the home turn, Sugar Bay Leonard was carried wider as Mr Tickets endeavoured to shift to the outside of Handfast to improve and obtain clear running. See The Show despite being ridden along in the early stages, failed to muster speed and settled further back than anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Fanning a post race veterinary examination revealed Fanning to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer Mr C Conners was advised that Fanning will now incur the mandatory 3 month ban from racing and a 2 month ban from exercising or training under the provisions of AR53A. Furthermore Mr Conners was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial or gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. RACE 8 Australian Turf Club Handicap 1100m Professor Marx when questioned, App R Dolan explained that from the outside barrier tonight, he had been asked to ride the horse conservatively and it was anticipated that Professor Marx would settle in about a midfield position. He said that his mount began only fairly and due to the composition

5 of the field in the early stages, he elected to allow his mount to drift back and settle at the rear of the field to avoid travelling wide and without cover. He said that although Professor Marx settled much further back than intended, he was able to commence improving from the 500m along the rail and in the straight, he secured clear running at approximately the 200m whilst remaining positioned on the running rail and Professor Marx closed the race off well. Legerity over the final 100m, was held up and was unable to be tested. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (3/5) in the near hind leg. Trainer Mr C Cunningham was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. Only Wanna Sing an inquiry into interference suffered to the gelding shortly after the start was adjourned until the Rosehill meeting tomorrow. Approaching the 100m, Only Wanna Sing became awkwardly placed on the heels of Verdict and was steadied. Legislation when questioned, rider C Brown said that he anticipated being in a midfield position from his wide barrier. He said that he had been asked to ensure that he save ground on the home turn and to obtain inside runs rather than covering additional ground as his mount was resuming from a spell. He said that as the tempo was genuine in the early stages, he was reluctant to make too much use of his mount to obtain a position to the outside to Evict and ultimately his mount drifted back to travel at the rear of the field to find cover. He said that having regard to his instructions, he elected to improve to the inside of Only Wanna Sing approaching the home turn, but when he was held up behind Vega, he was obliged to steady his mount and shift to the outside of Only Wanna Sing at the 200m to obtain clear running. Vega an inquiry into A Hyeronimus riding over the final 100m was adjourned to a date to be fixed. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. The Pharoah a post race veterinary examination revealed The Pharoah to have lost its off fore and near hind plates. GENERAL: Summary of whip use The Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii): Race 3 J McDonald (Via Veneto) 2 consecutives strikes Race 6 K O Hara (Tapavino) 6 strikes Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken. Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Antonio, Colestah, Skyann, River Bird. Race 2: Black Sunrise, Flying Mojo, Ocean Dash, Stryke the Gates, Wristband, Rock Zone. Race 3: Fantastic Man (2), San Francisco, Missybeel, Porky Pies, Via Veneto (8), Nautibernie. Race 4: Southern Lad, Pierina, Pembroke Castle, Let s Party Marty. Race 5: Fuel, Hammond Lane, Destiny s Hero, Pianissimo, Steamin, Smiling Manolito. Race 6: Can t Find Snippy (2), Connemara, Tell Me. Race 7: Samadoubt, Star Crossed (2). Race 8: The Pharoah, Legerity, Professor Marx, Evict.
