The Organising Committee (OC) reserves the right to change or amend the program at their discretion. All owners and competitors will be personally responsible for damages to any third parties caused by themselves, their employees, their agents or their horses. Please ensure the safety of your children whilst in proximity to horses. Scratching / Refunds of Entries All scratchings will be fully refunded prior to close of Entries via only at anniewhite1@me.com. Starts per horse Horses may only start in a maximum of 2 Classes per day. Horses may only nominate in one series. Riders and Owners All riders and owners in all classes must be current financial members of EA. Horses must hold current EA registration. Dress Code Riders in all competition rings must be in correct dress unless otherwise instructed by the judge. It is compulsory for athletes to wear a properly fastened helmet at all times whilst mounted. As an exception senior athletes may remove their helmet at the presentation in the competition arena only. Presentations Presentations will be mounted, and riders must wear their correct attire. Riders who are not available for presentations or who do not fulfill any media commitments that may be required by the OC, may forfeit all prize money. Winners of classes may be required to participate in photo and media obligations. Stallions The Organising Committee follows the EA stallion code of conduct.. Please refer to the Equestrian Australia Stallion Safe Practice Rules & Regulations Policy effective 1st july 2018 Dogs Dogs must be kept on a leash and under effective control at all times. Dogs are not permitted in warm up or competition areas or in the indoor arena. p. 2

3 1. Nomination Conditions for Children under 14, Junior, Young Rider, Senior and Stars of the Future. How many starts A rider may not ride more than three horses (if entries permit) in any one championship division but in the case of excessive entries, the OC reserve the right to restrict a rider to two starts. Children under 14 years is a standalone class only being held on the Sunday. The class will be 1m in height and riders must be under 18 years. Please note entries will be capped at 25. Should entries exceed 25 then a 1st round qualifier will be run on Friday with the top 25 only being invited to compete on the Sunday. Junior, Young Rider, Senior and Stars of the Future are block entries.the top 30 juniors, top 30 young riders, top 30 seniors and top 30 Stars of the Future horses will qualify for the FINAL. Horses not qualified for the final have the opporuntity to particiapte in a consolation class on Sunday as part of their block entry. Competitors whose age allows them to compete in different divisions may do so but only if on different horses. Children: An Athlete may compete in Children s classes until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 14 years old. Juniors: Athletes can take part in Competitions for Juniors until the end of the calendar year, in which they reach the age of 18 years Young Rider: An Athlete is considered a Young Rider from the commencement of the year of their 16th birthday until the end of the year of their 21st birthday. Senior Rider: An Athlete is considered a Senior Athlete from the commencement of the year of their 18th birthday. In Competitions with the word Senior in the title (Example: Senior Championship, Senior Grand Prix, Senior Six Bar), Athletes are eligible to compete from the beginning of the calendar year in which they turn 18 years. Scoring for State Championship Classes Scoring will be done over 3 rounds to determine the Champion. Round 1 will be scored by total number of startes. i.e. if 30 horses start class then first palce will receive 30 plus1 point. 2nd place will receive 28 points, 3rd place will receive 27 points and so on down to last place who shall receive 1 point. Horses eliminated will receive 0 points. Round 2 will regardless of numbers of horses starting use the same number from round 1 and the same scoring system, Round 1 and Round 2 will then be added together for a leaderboard. Round 3 - the FINAL will be seeded from highest to lowest based on points from the leaderboard. Round 3 will be scored the same way as Round 1 and Round 2. 1st place would receive 30+1, 2nd place 28 points, 3rd place 27 points etc...points over the the 3 days will determine the State Champion. The State Champion will be awarded from placing on the leaderbaord. The FINAL however will also run as a standalaone class. If equality of points occur for Champion there will be a jump off to determine the Champion. 2. Nomination conditions for a, b classes a,b classes eligibility Horses may only start in a class marked a or b and not both. a,b classes will run concurrently with Jump offs if applicable running at the end of the b class for both divisions. 3. Extra Nomination conditions for Stars of the Future For Horses with 50 points or less and that are 6, 7, 8 and 9yrs old from date of birth at time of competition. Any Horse that has started in a World Cup Class cannot compete in any Future Stars, Futurity or Stars of the Futures classes. Please refer to Atricle 275 in EA National Jumping Rules for further clarification. p. 3

4 4. Nomination conditions for Young Horse The Young horse class is for horses aged 8 years and younger. Horses must have not competed in a competition of 1.20m or more in height and they must have 20 points or less. The Young horse class will be held over heights approx 1.10m with a first round and a final. The Final will be a seeded draw based on results from the first round. 5. Nomination conditions for Amateur Amateur Rider classes are classes for Athletes who: Must not have competed in an Olympic Games or World Equestrian Games in either Jumping or Eventing In the past 10 years must not have competed in a World Cup for Jumping Riders qualifying round or in a 4* 3 day event. Must not have competed in section 1 and 2 at a Royal Show in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth in the past two years. Amateur Riders may not compete in an Amateur class if they compete in a class where the first round is higher than 1.20m at that show. Amateur Riders may not compete in an Amateur class on a Horse that will compete in any class where the first round is higher than 1.20m at that show. Athletes may compete as amateurs from the beginning of the calendar year in which they turn 21 years of age. The course shall be free-flowing and relatively simple. The first obstacle in the first round should be 10cm lower than the advertised starting height of the Competition. There will be a maximum height rise of 10cm for the jump-off. Welfare of the Horse and Code of Conduct In all equestrian sports the horse must be considered paramount. The well being of the horse shall be taken above the demands of the breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organisers, sponsors or officials. All handling and veterinary treatment must ensure the health and welfare of the horse. The highest standards of nutrition, health, sanitation and safety shall be encouraged and maintained at all times. Adequate provision must be made for ventilation, feeding, watering and maintaining a healthy environment during transportation. Emphasis should be placed on increasing education in training and equestrian practices and on promoting scientific studies in equine health. In the interests of the horse, the fitness and competence of the rider shall be regarded as essential. All riding and training methods must take account of the horse as a living entity and must not include any technique considered by the FEI/EA to be abusive. National Federations should establish adequate controls in order that all persons and bodies under their jurisdiction respect the welfare of the horse. The national and international Rules and Regulations in equestrian sport regarding the health and welfare of the horse must be adhered to not only during the national and international events, but also in the training. Competition Rules and Regulations shall be continually reviewed to ensure such welfare. Disclaimer of Liability Equestrian Victoria or its servants, volunteers or agents shall not be in anyway liable for any accident, injury, illness, damage, loss or any matter that may happen for causes or circumstances whatsoever to exhibitors, competitors, members, agents or to anyone on the grounds or to any animal or article exhibited or to any property on the grounds or for any loss, claim matter, or any journey to or from the event circumstances or event whatsoever in connection with or arising out of or understood to be the Victorian State Showjumping Championships 2018 event conducted by Equestrian Victoria and the Organizing Committee. It is to be understood that in no circumstances shall Equestrian Victoria, its servants, volunteers or agents be liable for any loss, damages, claims or cost occasioned or suffered by any exhibitor or member directly, howsoever arising, including without limitation, loss, damages, claims or costs as a result of any negligence, and by your entry in any Class of the Event, and upon the grounds of the venue, you agree to indemnify and save harmless to Equestrian Victoria, its servants, volunteers or agents from and against any liability out of any such loss, damage, claims or cost. This disclaimer does not limit any liability arising under the Trade Practices Act 1974[cth], other than section 74 of the act to the extent that it imposes liability for death or personal injury. p. 4
