2 Near the 600m Venetian Rock was momentarily held up for a run when racing tightly between Eightyeighthdragon and Petite Chienne. Shortly after this Venetian Rock shifted out in an attempt to obtain clear running and made contact with Petite Chienne, who in turn shifted out and bumped Miss Demeanour which became unbalanced. In the straight Musician laid in under pressure. L. Londregan, rider of Datodragon, was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR137(A)(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip in a forehand manner on eight occasions prior to the 100m. In reaching Penalty Stewards took into account L. Londregan s record. C. Quilty rider of Darkwater Jewels, which performed poorly, explained that in his opinion there may have been something amiss with the mare. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed slight soreness in the near hind. The clubs veterinary surgeon reported that a veterinary clearance would not be required prior to the mare starting again. Race 2 WANGARATTA COACHLINES MAIDEN PLATE metres: Ima Gonski and Mr Bourke were both slow to jump away. After passing the 600m Ima Gonski dipped in the going. Rounding the home turn Ima Gonski shifted out to improve and in doing so took Taper Jean Girl out off is course. Near the 200m Mr Bourke was hampered when tightened for room between Lustful and Taper Jean Girl, which shifted out before being straightened by its rider. L. Currie rider of Lustful, which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the mare performance today other than she was disappointing and did not respond to his riding as he anticipated. A subsequent veterinary examination of Lustful revealed no abnormalities. Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that Taper Jean Girl had blood in both nostrils. Mr P. Maher, the mare s trainer, was notified that Taper Jean Girl was now suspended from racing for a mandatory three month period. Race 3 op INDUSTRIES SV 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE metres: Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Ms J. Bird, trainer of Lady Medusa, who explained that the mare had injured itself and was unfit to start, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Lady Medusa at 9.07am. Ms Bird will submit the necessary documentation in regards to this matter. After being placed in its starting stall Sherbet Bomb became fractious and struck is head on the front barrier gates. Sherbet Bomb was removed for its barrier stall and examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon who deemed the filly unfit to start. Acting on this report Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Sherbet Bomb at 2.10pm. Stewards orders in relation to betting on Sherbet Bomb are as follows. All monies bet for a win and / or place and concession betting on the late scratching of Sherbet Bomb to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to

3 time of withdrawal of Sherbet Bomb are subject to the following deductions from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: Yahilu (first place getter) 9c, Place Bets: Yahilu (first place getter) 15c, Place Bets: Golden Olive (second place getter) 17c, Place Bets: Proserpina (third place getter) 14c. Acting on a report from the Starter in regards to Sherbert Bomb s behaviour in the barrier the stable representative of Mr M. Moroney, the trainer of Sherbet Bomb, was notified that the filly was now suspended from racing until such time as that it performs to the satisfaction of Stewards and gains approval to race. Floatlikeabutterfly and Princeton Miss were both slow to jump away. Golden Olive had a tendency to over race in the early stages. J. Duffy rider of Princeton Miss, which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the fillies performance today. J. Winks rider of Chosen Mia, which performed below market expectations, explained that in his opinion Chosen Mia may be better suited in races of longer distance than today s event. L. Currie rider of Where s Paradise, which performed poorly, explained that Where s Paradise was very disappointing and it was his recommendation to the stable to remove the blinkers from the filly. A. Mallyon rider of Kentucky Girl, which performed below market expectations, explained that the filly was a little one paced and disappointing today. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the filly was lame in the left foreleg. A stable representative of Mr R. Griffiths, trainer of Kentucky Girl, was notified that he must be in receipt of a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Race 4 SAM MIRANDA WINES CLASS 1 HANDICAP metres: Prior to correct weight being declared C. Robertson, rider of Ice Baby (second place getter), viewed the photo finish image. C. Robertson agreed with the judges placing s and correct weight was declared. As the start of effected Solar Flare turned its head sideways and as a result Solar Flare was slow to jump away. Also at the start Lavender Mist jumped away awkwardly, shifted out making heavy contact with British India, who as a result lost ground. Tassie s Spirit raced wide without cover. At the entrance to the straight Ice Baby shifted in and brushed Solar Flare. Solar Flare then had to be steadied off the heels of Black Wildwood and after being steadied Solar Flare shifted out and made contact with Ice Baby. Near the 300m, after being struck with the whip, Black Wildwood shifted out and as a result had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Royal Chassis, which had shifted in slightly. As a

4 result of this incident Solar Flare, which was following, had to shift to the inside of Black Wildwood. In the straight Manihi Rocks hung out under pressure In the early part of the straight Royal Chassis had a tendency to lay in. Race 5 CARLTON MID STRENGTH 0 68 HANDICAP metres: Stewards expected the explanation of L. Currie for being unable to fulfil his engagement as the rider of Capturethedream. Stewards expected the explanation of Ms C. Ward, trainer of Stratumsphere, for the use of the clubs colours. Stratumsphere knuckled at the start. Capturethedream raced wide without cover. Near the 300m Undercurrent and Belahi came together Race 6 WINSEC WANG CUP SUN 3 MARCH 0 62 HANDICAP metres: Smoke N Whisky was slow to jump away. Need To Exceed jumped away awkwardly Mistaken Grace also jumped away awkwardly and threw its head on several occasions shortly after the start resulting in its rider R. Beattie becoming unbalanced. In the early and middle stages Looksmart (NZ) over raced. Streiff raced wide without cover. From the entrance to the staight and until near 100m Perfect Peridot had difficulty obtaining clear running In the straight Royal Express laid in under pressure. In the straight Smoke N Whisky hung out. R. Plumb rider of Bel Gold, which performed poorly, could offer no explanation for the gelding s performance today. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A. Mallyon, rider of Smoke N Whisky, which performed below market expectations, explained that the gelding felt flat today and maybe feeling the effects of recent racing, Mr J. Blacker, the gelding s trainer, indicated that it was his intention to now spell Smoke N Whisky.

5 L. Beer, rider of Need To Exceed, explained that the gelding was agitated before the start of the race and in his opinion this may have been detrimental to the geldings chances today. Race 7 ALPINE TRUSS C,G&E 0 58 HANDICAP metres: Stewards expected the explanation of I. Gundogdu in regards to him being doubly booked for this event. Backstedt jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Rapid Flyer, Borneo Jo (NZ) and General s Choice were all slow to jump away. In the early stages Rexzeal over raced. After being caught wide in the early stages Popcorn Taxi was allow to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader. Rounding the home turn Grassini was held up for a clear run. Near the 300m Backstedt, when improving, was then held up for a clear run for a short distance. Backstedt was again badly held up for a run from approaching the 100m until the end of the race and finished its race off not fully tested. In the straight Harpsund laid in Near the 100m Popcorn Taxi (J. Childs), when weakening, shifted out whilst being ridden along resulting in Grief having to be steadied to avoid Popcorn Taxi s heels. J. Childs was notified to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstances in the future. J. Lyon, rider of Harpsund was reprimanded under the provisions of AR137(A)(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip in a forehand manner on six occasions prior to the 100m. In reaching penalty Stewards took into account J. Lyon s record in relation to this matter. Race 8 FIRE UP, CENTREBET F&M 0 58 HANDICAP metres: The connections of Our Rosella notified the Stewards that as the mare had a tendency to over race in its previous starts it was their intentions to have Our Rosella ridden further back in the field today. Our Rosella was ridden accordingly. The connections of Our Rosella, which was unruly in the mounting yard and on route to the barriers, were notified an official warning would be placed against the mare for its behaviour today. Our Rosella and Fly The Coop both jumped away awkwardly. Also at the start French Friday jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with the outside barrier gate. French Friday was obliged to race wide without cover.

6 Rounding the home turn French Friday was momentarily for a clear run. In the straight No Prior Knowledge laid in and near the 200m shifted in and hampered Purple Butterfly. Over the concluding stages French Friday laid in under pressure and brushed Lost Chord. D. Holland, rider of Autumn Dawn, was spoken to advisedly in regards to his use of the whip in a back hand manner on the mare. J. McNeil, rider of No Prior Knowledge, reported that his saddle shifted forward near the 900m which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. L. Beer, rider of French Friday (third place getter) reported that his saddle shifted sideways on straightening which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
