Lee (sp) Supplementary Report: Hawkesbury Saturday 1 September 2018 Race 1: Cooks Plumbing Supplies 3YO Maiden Plate 1600m: Kara's Hope Trainer Mr T. Martin confirmed the nature of the instructions issued to M. Bell that if Kara's Hope began well he was to take up a forward position. Mr Martin advised the Stewards that, at the filly's previous start on Thursday 9 August 2018 at Kembla Grange, he had not issued any instructions to rider A. Hyeronimus other than to take up a forward position if the filly began well. Mr Martin added that on that occasion Kara s Hope was slow to begin, which resulted in the filly settling towards the rear of the field. Stewards advised Mr Martin that, notwithstanding that the instructions were the same as those issued at the filly's previous start, it was his obligation to notify Stewards of any change in riding tactics. RIDING CHANGES: As J. Grisedale was injured at the Warwick Farm jump-outs on Friday morning, Stewards permitted the following rider replacements: Race 2 Race 4 Race 5 Race 6 Race 8 W. Costin on Musume C. Lever on Myprayer Y. Ichikawa on Griddlebone A. Layt on Snippetsline G. Buckley on Salon Miss RACE 1: MBA Illawarra Division Class 1 and Maiden Plate 2400m: Grey Eminence approaching the 200m was hampered slightly by Mr Beasley, which commenced to lay out. Terwilliker slow to begin. When questioned, rider K. Jennings stated that he anticipated racing in a prominent position, however, the gelding failed to show any early gate speed and, as a consequence, settled towards the rear of the field. He said that Terwilliker travelled well throughout, however, given the slow tempo set in the early and middle stages, when the race developed into a sprint home from the 700m

2 K GR 2 his mount found it difficult to make up any appreciable ground under its allotted weight of 59 kilograms. He said that in his opinion Terwilliker, which is one-paced, is better ridden when able to race closer to the speed. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Dress Rehearsal slow to begin. Mr Beasley raced strongly during the early and middle stages. Plea Bargain commenced to lay out under pressure from the 200m and, for some distance approaching the 50m, raced tight with Heartlet. Only You shortly after the start was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. Passing the 2300m, after obtaining a position with cover behind Opera Tickets, commenced to race keenly, got its head up and had to be restrained to avoid the heels of that runner. RACE 2: Hume Doors and Timber Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200m: Cloudless Sky Trainer Mr G. Hickman was fined $50 under AR140A for presenting the mare to the enclosure without winkers, which are part of its approved gear. Near the 1000m had to be steadied when crowded to the inside of Natanya (G. Buckley), which shifted in when not quite clear. G. Buckley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Near the 700m had to be steadied away from the heels of Natanya. Miss Jenny C. Lever reported that the mare was inclined to lay in throughout the event. Rounding the home turn, clipped the heels of Loved One and blundered. Galina, which was following, became awkwardly placed on the heels of that runner and had to be shifted out. Passing the 50m was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Loved One (S. Guymer), which shifted out when not clear. S. Guymer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. As a consequence, Miss Jenny was unable to be fully tested thereafter. All Tiara slow to begin. Experienced difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight and near the 250m was shifted to the inside of Tawaret to secure clear running. Galina shortly after the start, was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. Lonny Lonny raced greenly under pressure in the straight. Loved One raced wide and without cover throughout. When questioned, rider S. Guymer stated that his mount commenced to hang out from the 600m, and continued to hang out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the straight, proving difficult for him to ride the filly out in his normal manner. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J. O'Shea was advised that an official warning would be placed against the horse's racing manners.

3 K GR 3 Natanya after being slow to begin, was bumped by Cloudless Sky, which was taken out by Tawaret, which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. Ragazze Stewards permitted K. Jennings to ride the filly half a kilogram over its allotted weight. Laid out under pressure over the final 75 metres. Tawaret change of tactics to be ridden further forward: settled midfield. Passing the 300m was awkwardly placed on the heels of Lonny Lonny when endeavouring to shift to the outside of that runner to secure clear running. As a consequence, Tawaret was disappointed for this run and near the 250m had to shift back to the inside of that runner to continue into clear running. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Ms C. Heuston was advised that an official warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the filly, which became fractious after being loaded. When questioned, rider L. Magorrian stated that his mount began awkwardly before taking up a position behind the eventual leader Lonny Lonny in the early stages. He said that his mount did not appreciate racing in amongst other horses and in his opinion would derive race experience from today's outing. RACE 3: CBC Storage Group Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1200m: Shapur Co-trainer Mr L. Price was informed that an official warning would be placed on the racing manners of Shapur. Mr Price advised that the gelding will now be spelled. Zeppelin near the 900m had to be steadied when crowded between Design Ahead and Shapur, which shifted in and away from Philanthropist despite the efforts of its rider. Bentley Magic made contact with the nearside barrier partition on jumping. Approaching the 600m was bumped by Zeppelin and became unbalanced. Raced wide and without cover throughout. Black Sunrise was leaning against the nearside barrier partition as the start was effected and was slow to begin (2L). Concave approaching the 1000m, when racing greenly, shifted in and away from Valiant and had to be steadied. When questioned, C. Franklin stated that the colt, which was having its first race start today, was slow to begin and, despite his urgings, did not show any early speed. He said that as a result Concave settled towards the rear of the field. He added that his mount raced very greenly throughout, got its head up and commenced to hang out from the 600m, from which point it proved difficult for him to ride. He said that his mount continued to race in this manner in the straight whereby he was unable to ride the horse out in his usual manner. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. As Stewards deemed the performance of Concave to be unacceptable stable representative Ms C. Heuston was advised that the colt would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race again. Design Ahead passing the 1000m was steadied when racing tight to the inside of Zeppelin, which was taken in by Shapur (W. Costin), which shifted in and away from Baller despite the efforts of its rider. In taking no direct action, Stewards were satisfied that W. Costin made sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in at the

4 K GR 4 relevant period. Approaching the 600m, after being crossed by Shapur, Design Ahead had to be steadied to avoid the heels of that runner. Talent Award, which was following, had to be steadied and shifted out as a consequence. Philanthropist raced wide and without cover until the 700m. Talent Award slow to begin (3L) after becoming fractious in the barriers. Valiant began awkwardly and was then steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. When questioned, A. Layt stated that after obtaining a midfield position in the early stages his mount raced keenly until near the 700m. He said that Valiant travelled well thereafter and commenced to lay out when placed under pressure after the 400m. He added that he was not able to ride his mount out as vigorously as he would have liked, although it was nonetheless disappointing in the manner in which it finished its race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 4: Baines Masonry Class 2 Handicap 1200m: Poetic Charmer slow to begin. Myprayer near the 900m had to be checked when racing to the inside of Poetic Charmer. Texas Tycoon, which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. Could You Be Loved was declared a late withdrawal at 7.57 a.m. after sustaining an injury to its back. Trainer Mr T. Martin was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare being permitted to race again. Uh Oh raced wide and without cover throughout. Accoy crowded on jumping by Uh Oh, which began awkwardly and shifted out. Approaching the 1000m, laid in across the heels of Uh Oh and had to be steadied. RACE 5: Westrac Class 2 Handicap 1600m: Doctor Manhattan slow to begin. Saint Katarina change of tactics to be ridden conservatively: settled worse than midfield. After being slow to begin was steadied and shifted in behind runners. Momentum Amethyst Stewards permitted K. Latham to ride the gelding half a kilogram over its allotted weight. Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. King's Peak raced keenly in the middle stages. Crystal Billy raced keenly in the middle stages. RACE 6: Sky Racing Spring Provincial Series Heat 2 Class 5 Plate 1400m: Brother In Arms raced wide and without cover throughout.

5 K GR 5 Dissolution When questioned, K. Jennings stated that after beginning well he allowed his mount to stride forward and ultimately settled outside the leader Fortification approaching the 1200m. Leave Ya Numba cast its near hind plate en route to the barriers necessitating replating. Leave Ya Numba underwent a veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race. Plaisir stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground (3L). Plaisir then failed to muster speed despite the urgings of its rider in the early stages. Snippetsline slipped behind on jumping and lost ground (4L). A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which finished distanced, did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mrs D. Grisedale was advised that Snippetsline would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again. RACE 7: UTJ Interiors Benchmark 64 Handicap 1400m: Victime De L'Amour Trainer Mr T. Martin was fined $50 under AR140A for presenting the gelding to the enclosure without a tongue tie, which is part of its approved gear. Held up rounding the home turn and passing the 400m had to be shifted to the inside of Thor's Thunder to secure clear running. Via Veneto began awkwardly and, shortly after, was steadied and shifted in behind runners. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Just A Joke slow to begin. Burbank raced wide and without cover throughout. Nagging after being slow to begin was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. Xaarfoxylady began awkwardly and made heavy contact with Ivy's Court. A postrace veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a speedy cut to the near-hind fetlock. Man Of Colours hung in and, shortly after straightening, proved reluctant to shift to the outside of Nagging to secure clear running. Continued to hang in under pressure thereafter. RACE 8: PGH Bricks and Pavers Maiden Handicap 1400m: Wolfe laid in under pressure in the straight. Read All About It began awkwardly. Lacasa Maria Rosa A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off-foreleg (2/5). Trainer Ms T. Bateup was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Lacasa Maria Rosa racing again.

6 K GR 6 De Valera after being slow to begin was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. Gravy Train after being slow to begin was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide draw. Bennelong change of tactics to be ridden conservatively: settled back. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover after the 1000m. Stable representative Ms E. Babazogli was advised that an official warning would be placed on the gelding after it proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Welsh Legend passing the 800m became awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Lacasa Maria Rosa, shifted out and raced wide and without cover thereafter. Rider A. Layt was fined $300 under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m, four more than permitted. Rosadiblu began awkwardly. Salon Miss became fractious after being loaded into the barriers and struck its head on the partition. Salon Miss was removed from the barriers, examined by the club's veterinary officer and declared unfit to race. As such the mare was declared a late withdrawal at 5.44 p.m. Stewards subsequently ordered that all moneys placed on Salon Miss be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 5.44 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1 st Wolfe less 3 cents win, 4 cents place; 2 nd De Valera less 3 cents place; 3 rd Nivelle less 3 cents place. Mr R. McConville, representing Trainer Ms G. Markwell, was advised that an official warning would be recorded against the barrier manners of Salon Miss. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Only You, Dress Rehearsal Race 4: Poetic Charmer Race 5: Esteem Spirit, King's Peak Race 6: Bochy, Brother In Arms, Leave Ya Numba Race 8: Bennelong Summary of whip use: Stewards noted that the following riders exceeded the permitted number of strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii).
