(alm) Supplementary Reports: ROYAL RANDWICK: Saturday, 21 October 2017 RACE 3 TAB Highway Handicap 1100m Kashtan - App R King was fined $300 under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, four more than permitted. Summary of whip use The Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii): Race 3 App R Hunt (Attainment) 7 strikes Race 4 App R King (Social Element) 8 strikes Race 7 J Adams (Samanthan) 7 strikes Race 7 T Angland (Zestful) 6 strikes Race 9 App R King (Sweet Serendipity) 7 strikes Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken. RACE 1 McGrath Estate Agents Qld Plate 1300m Military Academy knuckled on jumping and raced keenly in the early and middle stages and when awkward on the heels of Cuba near the 1000m, was shifted out and then raced wide without cover thereafter. Enfield Opp began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the colt, rider B Avdulla stated that his mount was inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages and approaching the 1000m had to be checked away from the heels of Star Of New York which shifted out. He added he was able to establish a position behind Astroflash thereafter where his mount continued to race keenly. He said that approaching the 600m, when that runner commenced to give ground, he was obliged to shift to the outside of that runner's heels and endeavour to obtain clear running. He said that rounding the home turn, he placed his mount under pressure, however it failed to respond to his riding and was most disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr C Waller expressed disappointment with the performance of the horse and said it had pleased leading up to today's race. He indicated that he would now assess the colt on return to the stables and would make a decision on the horse's immediate racing future in the days subsequent. The plans and progress of Enfield Opp will be followed up with Mr Waller. Astroflash a post race veterinary examination revealed Astroflash to be making abnormal respiratory noises. Trainer Mr L Bridge was advised that a veterinary clearance, including an endoscopic examination, would be required prior to the horse racing again.

2 RACE 2 Casino Prince@Vinery Plate 1300m Iowa which has been fractious in the barriers, threw its head down as the start was effected and lost ground (2L). Palmateer began awkwardly. Palmateer was held up and unable to be fully tested over the final 75m. Semper Fidelis was shifted back in and across behind runners shortly after the start. All Sassitude raced wide and without cover throughout. Latifa near the 200m, shifted out around the heels of All Sassitude to improve. A short distance later, All Sassitude shifted out resulting in Latifa being awkwardly positioned on the heels of that horse for the remainder of the race and Latifa not being able to be fully tested. Satyricon near the 150m, Satyricon, which was giving ground, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied when Semper Fidelis shifted in under pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed a small abrasion to the off hind pastern. Faith In Hand laid out in the straight obliging its rider, B Shinn, to change the whip into his left hand near the 100m. Popular laid out pressure over the final 100m. RACE 3 McGrath Estate Agents Act Handicap 2400m Thewayweare was slow to begin. Thewayweare was bumped and became unbalanced when giving ground on the home turn by Sakhumzi which was taken out by Wine Bush which shifted out to improve. In this incident, Thewayweare are brushed the hindquarter of Olympic Academy. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding today, rider T Angland stated that shortly after the start, he rode his mount along in an endeavour to take up a forward position, however when Sakhumzi, which was drawn to his inside, maintained its position, rather than being caught wide, he elected to restrain his mount and endeavour to find cover behind Goodwood Zodiac. He added that his mount travelled well throughout the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure approaching the 600m, failed to respond to his urgings and did not run on and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Thompson advised that in his view, Thewayweare was not suited ridden further back today and he indicated that the intention was to continue on with the horse's preparation. Mr Thompson advised that at the horse's next start, the instruction will be to have the horse ridden more aggressively. The post race condition of Thewayweare will be followed up with Mr Thompson. Yeah Bravo when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, rider J Ford stated that his mount travelled well throughout the event, however was under pressure as far out as the 600m and in his opinion, may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the off hind buffer. Trainer Mr C Waller advised that Yeah Bravo had pleased leading into today s race, however in light of today s performance would now be spelled. Olympic Academy a post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery. RACE 4 Tab.com.au Handicap (1000m Marble was slow to begin and raced wide and without cover throughout. Marble hung out rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, G Schofield stated his mount travelled well despite being caught wide and without cover throughout. He added that rounding the home turn, his mount commenced to lay out. He added that his mount, which was resuming from a spell, was not suited by the fast early tempo of the race and would derive benefit from today's run. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery and respiratory distress. Trainer

3 Mr J Cummings was advised that a veterinary clearance, including an endoscopic examination, would be required prior to the horse racing again. Magic As was slow to begin. Nicof was slow to begin and raced wide and without cover for the majority of the race. Run Sally Run began awkwardly and made contact with Blowing Kisses. As a result, Run Sally Run then shifted back in across the heels of Sikhing Glory and was checked. For some distance after this, Run Sally Run was awkwardly placed on the heels of Sikhing Glory. Cosmic Cameo despite being ridden along after the start, failed to muster speed. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Darhad was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and on straightening, was eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of Bella Vino. Shortly after straightening, was then steadied and shifted out and around the heels of Belle Vino when disappointed for a run to that horse's inside. Blowing Kisses when questioned regarding his riding of Blowing Kisses, which was resuming from a spell, B Shinn explained that he had been asked to ride the mare conservatively in the early stages. He said that with the genuine tempo after the 800m, he was unable to maintain his position near the 650m between Realise Potential and Run Sally Run, which shifted off the fence resulting in Blowing Kisses travelling at the rear of the field. He added that approaching and rounding the home turn, he contemplated improving to the outside of Run Sally Run, however the rider of Magicaz, which was positioned to his outside, notified him that he was not clear and he desisted from pursuing that run and shifted back to the inside of Run Sally Run to improve. He added that he commenced to place his mount under full pressure on straightening where Blowing Kisses then finished its race off strongly. Trainer Mr J Thompson confirmed the nature of instructions issued to B Shinn and expressed satisfaction in the way the mare had been ridden. The Stewards advised B Shinn that in their opinion he should have shown more endeavour to hold his position in the middle stages of the race and furthermore, prior to straightening, he should have shown more urgency to improve his position than he did on this occasion and that in future he must ride his mounts to leave no room for query. Mr Thompson was advised his explanations will be reported. Realise Potential a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 5 McGrath Estate Agents NSW Handicap 1600m Smooth Whiskey the declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable to connections of the second placegetter, Smooth Whiskey, to view the official photo finish. When connections were satisfied that the numbers as semaphored were correct and the Stewards similarly agreed, correct weight was declared. Charming Lad was slow to begin and then was steadied and shifted back in and across runners from its wider barriers after the start. Charming Lad raced keenly in the early and middle stages. So Splendid was slow to begin and then was steadied and shifted back in and across runners from its wider barriers after the start. Red Viking raced wide and without cover throughout. Cellarman when questioned, J Collett stated that approaching the home turn, his mount was travelling well and shortly after straightening, endeavoured to improve into a run between Laszlo and So Splendid, however when Laszlo shifted out, he was disappointed for that run and was held up for some distance thereafter before obtaining clear running near the 200m.

4 Laszlo pulled hard in the early and middle stages, refusing to settle. Cellarman, which was following, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of that runner for some distance approaching and passing the 1200m and continued to race keenly thereafter. Rogue Missile a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 6 #Theraces Handicap 1400m Tahsin the Stewards considered an objection by trainer Mr J Thompson (Tahsin) placed fourth against the numbers as semaphored by the judge which were: 1 st So Spirited 2 nd Carluca 3 rd Alliterate 4 th Tahsin The Stewards heard submissions from the connections of Tahsin, managing partner Mr J T Walter, trainer Mr P Farrell and also ATC judges, Mr S Farrar and Mr T Bootle. After consideration, the Stewards advised Mr Farrar that they had some difficulty in confirming their placings. Mr Farrar and Mr Bootle, then after deliberation, advised the Stewards that having regard to the circumstances, namely that there was no mirror image available and as a result the relative finishing positions of Tahsin and Alliterate were obscured, they would amend their placings to read: first, So Spirited, second, Carluca, dead heat for third, Alliterate and Tahsin. As a result of this delay, the starting time for Race 7 was amended to 6.05pm. Mr J Heddo, Executive General Manager, Racing Services and Membership, informed Stewards that a review of the photo finish service will be conducted by the ATC. Tahsin began awkwardly. Near the 600m, shifted out to improve and carried He's A Given wider on the track. Nacho Libre was fractious in the barriers and as the start was effected, whilst in the care of the attendant, turned its head to the nearside and reared and consequently lost considerable ground (5L). A post race veterinary examination revealed Nacho Libre to have lost its off fore plate and to have an abrasion to the offside stifle. Trainer Mr P Cave was advised that Nacho Libre would have to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. He's A Given knuckled on jumping. He's A Given raced wide and without cover throughout. Old Habits slow to begin. Excited Prince was slow to begin. Moqueen approaching the 200m, had to be steadied when crowded between He s A Given and Tahsin, which shifted out away from Carluca. So Spirited laid out in the straight. Lord Macau A Hyeronimus advised that the horse, which was resuming today, jumped well but did not show its customary early speed and was quickly crossed. He added that Lord Macau never travelled comfortably at any stage and was disappointing in its failure to finish its race off. He added that he commented to connections that the additional blinkers may assist Lord Macau for its next race start. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr A Bott advised that they would no experiment with the gear of Lord Macau. The post race condition of Lord Macau will be followed up with the stable. RACE 7 McGrath Estate Agents Vic Handicap 1200m Fancy Nickers raced wide and without cover throughout O'Reilly Cyrus from its wide barrier, was steadied in the early stages but was unable to obtain cover and raced without cover throughout the race. A post race veterinary examination of O Reilly Cyrus revealed no abnormalities.

5 Vienna Romance for some distance approaching the 100m, raced in restricted room inside Neyla s Girl. Over the concluding stages, Vienna Romance then was unable to be ridden out when Neyla s Girl shifted in marginally and consequently Vienna Romance was not tested in the run to the finish Zonk raced wide and without cover throughout. Cuban Sizzle when questioned regarding her riding in the early stages, App R King stated that her instructions were to have her horse ridden in a forward manner and lead if possible. She added that after her mount began well, she rode it along in an endeavour to cross the runners to her inside. She added that near the 800m, she was able to cross Sharpness, however when Neyla s Girl continued to improve to her inside, and as she was not sufficiently clear to cross that runner, she elected to maintain racing in a two wide position. App King stated she had to make some use of her mount, which was second up today, in the early stages to race prominently and she felt that to continue to pressure her mount in an endeavour to cross Neyla s Girl would be detrimental to her mount's finishing chances and she therefore elected to remain racing to the outside of that runner. Race 3: Olympic Academy, Goodwood Zodiac, Thewayweare, Yeah Bravo, Sakhumzi, Wine Bush. Race 4: Run Sally Run, Blowing Kisses. Race 5: Shock Alert, Grand Finalist, Laszlo, Cellarman, So Splendid, Smooth Whiskey. Race 6: Cordero, Old Habits, Nacho Libre, Carluca. Race 7: Zonk (2), Its Time For Magic. SUMMARY Fines: Randwick ( ): App R King (Kashtan) -$300 [AR137A(5)(a)(ii)] 9 strikes prior to the 100m.
