Race 10: #Theraces Handicap 1400m Replique - co-trainer Mr A Bott advised the mare had now been spelled. RACE 1: Passchendaele Plate 1200m Seaglass slow to begin. All Sassitude shifted in at the start and made contact with the hindquarter of Meliboea, then shifted back out and bumped Fifth Affair. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Grand Theft Auto from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners. When questioned regarding his riding of the filly, J Parr stated that his instructions had been to endeavour to have his mount settle in the run and anticipated taking up a position towards the rear of the field. He said from his wide draw he elected to restrain his mount to ensure that he found cover and as a result, when caught wide early, he was obliged to come back to the rear of the field where he followed Military Express. J Parr added on straightening he contemplated taking a run between Membership and High Low Bet, but when those runners were inclined to shift ground in advance of him he elected to come to the outside to ensure his mount secured clear running. He said with the genuine early tempo Grand Theft Auto, when placed under pressure making the home turn, was able to finish the race off strongly. Fifth Affair soon after the start raced in restricted room between Didn't Mention It and All Sassitude, which was taken in by Meliboea. Farsight from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners. Meliboae raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

2 2 Didn't Mention It rider J Ford stated his mount travelled comfortably in the lead, but was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off and he could offer no excuse for today's performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had abraded both hind bumpers. Trainer Mr G Ryan advised that he will now spell the filly. Membership - near the 500m Meliboae shifted out around the heels of Didn't Mention It and made contact with Membership, carrying that runner wider. Rider T Berry stated his mount travelled well behind the leaders in the early stages, but leaving the 600m, when Meliboea shifted out to improve, his mount became a little unbalanced, was carried wider and from this point failed to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. High Low Bet shifted out under pressure in the straight. RACE 2: Light Horse Brigade Plate 1200m Korma after being fractious in the barriers was slow to begin. examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A post-race veterinary Red Zephyr after being fractious in the barriers began awkwardly. Enlightened Boy slow to begin. Pierata made contact with Hong Qigong on jumping. Hong Qigong made contact with Pierata on jumping. Hung out under pressure in the straight and over the concluding stages brushed Pierata on two occasions. Gaulois shifted out at the start and made contact with Korma. Held up making the home turn. Military Academy inclined to overrace throughout the early and middle stages and when being crossed by Kookabaa (T Angland) near the 800m was steadied to avoid the heels of that runner. T Angland was advised to ensure he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside. Delfuego at the top of the straight was disappointed for clear running between Military Academy and All Too Sweet when Military Academy shifted out. Delfuego was then held up for clear running in the early part of the straight, before improving to the inside of Military Academy near the 300m. In this incident, when Delfuego was endeavouring to secure clear running to the inside of Military Academy, Korma shifted out and made contact with Delfuego, resulting in Delfuego becoming momentarily unbalanced. Britannicus when questioned regarding his riding, J Parr stated stated he was instructed to have his mount settle where comfortable and from his wide draw he elected to take up a position towards the rear of the field. He said that Britannicus raced very greenly throughout the run and near the 800m, as his mount was inclined to hang out, he endeavoured to pull his whip through to his left hand, but as he commenced to do that Britannicus ran in, which resulted in him having to take corrective action to straighten his mount. J Parr added that making the home turn, as his mount commenced to make ground, he became awkwardly placed close to the heels of Rickaby when that runner commenced to give ground and as a

3 3 consequence Britannicus ran out and became unbalanced. He said, as his mount was inclined to lay out, he pulled his whip through to the left hand, but once struck Britannicus then ran in towards the heels of the weakening All Too Sweet and improved to the inside of Red Zephyr. J Parr further stated he then had to endeavour to shift out across the heels of Red Zephyr and in doing so was required to check his mount to avoid that runner's heels and over the final 100m, whilst still racing greenly, his mount made good ground. The racing manners of Britannicus were brought to the attention of trainer Mr J Thompson, who advised that the gelding will now be spelled. All Too Sweet a post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off-fore heel. RACE 3: Brigadier William Grant Handicap 1400m Emperor's Way after being placed in the barriers, became fractious, lunged forward and struck the front of the barriers with its head. On veterinary advice the gelding was a late withdrawal at 1.53pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Emperor's Way be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 1.53pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Year Bravo less 12ȼ win and 12ȼ place 2nd) Lucky Tiger less 13ȼ place Co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden was asked to provide a veterinary clearance prior to Emperor's Way racing again. Polemic slow to begin. Lucky Tiger inclined to lay in over the final 250m. Prometheus rider B Shinn stated that the gelding had a comfortable run in the event behind the leaders, but did not quicken when the tempo increased on straightening. He said in his view Prometheus would derive benefit from today's run and would also be suited by being stepped up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Ivoryman lost is near-hind plate near the 1200m. RACE 4: Anzac Appeal Cup 2000m Kiseki Dane as App. D Panya was overweight, Stewards permitted App. J Innes Jr to be substituted as the rider of the gelding. Made contact with Stampede at the start. Lost its nearfore plate in running. Stampede made contact with Kiseki Dane at the start. Kiseki Dane hung out rounding the home turn and carried Stampede wider. Kiseki Dane continued to hang out in the straight and hear the 200m brushed and carried Stampede wider. Rider T Clark stated that, whilst his mount was not beaten far, in his opinion it may have run out of condition, this being the first attempt at this distance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Floodlight rider B Avdulla stated in his view the horse would be better suited in a race with a more genuine tempo as it appeared to be somewhat one-pace during the event. A postrace veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

4 4 RACE 5: Stewart Griffin Memorial Handicap 1400m So Splendid made contact with Mia Rosa at the start. Duchess Pedrille and So Splendid raced tight in the straight and on a number of occasions from the 300m brushed due to both horses shifting ground. Mia Rosa made contact with So Splendid at the start. Near the 900m blundered and became unbalanced for one stride. The Racecourse Manager was asked to attend to that area of the truck. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight, obliging rider K McEvoy to change the whip into his left hand approaching the 100m. Then shifted out noticeably under pressure inside the 100m. Word Games began awkwardly and made contact with Emma Jane. Word Games was then steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide barrier. In the early stages was left racing wide without cover. Lady Chalfont raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Amata Sorella rider B Avdulla could offer no excuse for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities Mr C Duckworth, representing trainer Mr C Waller, undertook to report back on the condition of the filly in the days subsequent. Audacious Choice rider T Clark stated his mount went forward and travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, but weakened noticeably in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had galloped on both forelegs. Co-trainer Mr A Bott could offer no excuse for the performance and the stable would not conduct a full vet check, including an endoscopic examination. Mr Bott was asked to provide a veterinary clearance for the filly prior to its next start. RACE 6: Battle of Messines Handicap 1400m Colosseum King began awkwardly and ran in at the start. Rider T Angland explained that his mount travelled well, however when asked for an effort, did not handle the soft track conditions, failed to respond and weakened noticeably in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr J Sargent expressed disappointment in the performance of Colosseum King and indicated he will advise Stewards of the future race plans for the gelding in the days subsequent. Labdien bounded on jumping. Lay Down The Law raced wide without cover. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Magic Dallas rider K O'Hara could offer no excuse for today's performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities Denzil rider C Brown stated that the only explanation he could offer for today's performance was that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr D Pfieffer expressed disappointment in the performance of Denzil and indicated he will advise Stewards of the future race plans for the gelding in the days subsequent.

5 5 Skillful lost its off-hind plate in running. RACE 7: Beersheba Handicap 1000m Loverboy Charlie slow to begin. After being crossed by Athena Lass passing the 800m, commenced to overrace. Ice Bucket made contact with Athena Lass at the start. Athena Lass made contact with Ice Bucket at the start. Rider B Avdulla could offer no excuse for the performance of the filly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Mr R Roberts advised Athena Lass will now return to the Melbourne stable, where it will be freshened up prior to its next race start. Conchita making the turn near the 600m got its head up when it commenced to hang and was being corrected by its rider. Minnesota near the 150m the mare, which had been inclined to lay out, shifted out and briefly hampered Loverboy Charlie. Blowing Kisses rider B Shinn stated that his mount failed to handle today's rain affected going and this was the only excuse he could offer for the disappointing performance. A postrace veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Thompson concurred with the views of rider B Shinn and undertook to report back to the Stewards on the progress of the filly in the days subsequent. RACE 8: Last Post Handicap 1200m No Interest slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Bells Of War slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rosettas Whey knuckled on jumping. Rider J Parr reported that his mount in his opinion did not handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Our Belisa raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 800m the filly, which was overracing, was steadied away from the heels of Military Machine (T Berry), which shifted in when not quite clear. T Berry was told to exercise more care. Midnight Ride raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover. Star Reflection for some distance in the early part of the straight was hampered and carried wider when endeavouring to improve to the outside of the heels of Our Belisa, which was shifting wider on the track. Centro Superior on straightening was taken wider when Relaxed shifted out to improve. GENERAL: Summary of whip use
