3 Reasons for Elimination: Racing or endangering another vehicle or spectator. Failure to cross the start line within 1 minute of signal. Starting before signal. Failure to drive the prescribed course. Failure to correctly drive each obstacle on course. Failure to cross the finish line. Circling, driving serpentines, and walking and stopping to average time. Outside assistance (other than navigator/groom indicating the route). Breakage of harness or vehicle. Gambler's Choice To be driven over a course of unnumbered obstacles each carrying a specific point value. Each driver has the same amount of time to negotiate as many obstacles as possible. After passing through the starting line, the driver may drive through the obstacles in any order, from any direction. Each obstacle may be driven twice only, but not in succession. No obstacle may be redriven once it has been disturbed (Exception: obstacles which are designed to be knocked down). No points will be awarded for an incorrectly completed obstacle. If the obstacle is incorrectly driven, but not disturbed, it may be attempted again. The circling rule does not apply. If a horse should refuse or run out at an obstacle without disturbing it, the driver may elect not to attempt it and may drive another obstacle without penalty. The obstacle may be attempted later, and if driven correctly, the appropriate points will be recorded. A signal will sound at the end of the allotted time and the driver must exit through the finish markers for total time to be recorded. If the signal sounds when the driver is committed to an obstacle, the competitor may complete it and receive the appropriate points, then proceed to the finish markers for the total time to be recorded. Placings are determined on a high score basis. Time will decide ties. If a tie occurs in both points and time, the winner will be decided by a drive-off. Coach Dog Turnout A non-ads-recognized fun driving class in which entries will be judged primarily on the suitability of the dog to serve as a companion. One dog per carriage; any breed. To be judged both ways of the arena; judge may call all pleasure driving gaits. The dog may be seated or standing in the carriage, or running behind, beside, or beneath the carriage, but must be under control at all times. The dog may not be restrained by being tied to the carriage, or to the driver. The dog may not be held by the driver, or interfere with the driver in any way. To be judged: 60% on the performance, behavior, manners, and attitude of the dog; 30% on the performance, manners, and way of going of the horse(s); and 10% on the overall impression of the turnout including the dog. 50/50 Break & Out A non-ads-recognized fun driving class. This will be a driven Command Class in which the judge will call out various commands that must be executed by the horse and driver immediately. Commands will include (but are not limited to) slow trot, working trot, extended trot, walk, halt, reverse, back, etc. Any turnout that does not perform the required command immediately will be eliminated. Last turnout in the ring wins a cash prize of 50 percent of the entry fees collected for that class. No ribbons or points will be awarded for this class. First place winner only. The decision of the judge and/or his delegated spotters is final. Concours d'elegance (To be judged throughout the show.) The word elegance is the essence of this competition. The winner will be the turnout which, in the opinion of the Judges, presents the most elegant effect (vehicle, appointments, harness, animal(s), driver, groom(s), etc.). Above all, general impression is most important. Period costumes are prohibited. Performance is not judged unless it detracts from the elegance of the turnout. Bucks County Horse Park presents...
