2 Due to todays extreme hot weather conditions, Racing Victorias hot weather policy was invoked. Following a visit from the non-raceday unit, trainer Sharon Bull was severely reprimanded under AR178F for failing to maintain an up-to-date treatment diary. Race 1 kookaburra lodge motel maiden plate metres: Propensity Passing the 900m was bumped on a number of occasions by San Gregorio and as a result raced wide for the remainder. When questioned regarding the poor performance rider D. Yendall stated that the mare had got worked up pre-race and this coupled with it being buffeted in the middle stages may have explained the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery rate. A swab sample was taken for analysis. Disconi Got its head up passing the 1000m when racing keenly in the lead. San Gregorio When over-racing in the early stages had to be steadied outwards passing the 900m when awkwardly placed on the heels of Disconi, as a result when shifting out San Gregorio made contact with Propensity. Brightlight Boy (NZ) Apprentice J. Eaton accidentally dropped her whip shortly after straightening. Race 2 lake fyans caravan park bm58 handicap metres: Athos Connections advised that from the wide barrier it was their intention to ride the gelding in a forward position. Raced wide in the early stages until being allowed to stride forward and settle outside the leader. Doubtless Road When questioned regarding the gelding leading in todays event apprentice C. Hall stated that the gelding jumped away well, which it had not done in the past and with there being no early speed in the event she elected to maintain a forward position. Ingenious When questioned regarding the tactics adopted particularly in the early stages after initially beginning well before being restrained by its rider to the rear of the field passing the winning post on the first occasion, apprentice J. Eaton stated that she had been instructed to ride the mare back in the field with cover as per its established race pattern. She said that after beginning well she restrained her mount in an endeavour to comply with her instructions, however as the mare has a tendency to over-race she had to continually restrain to the rear of the field where it took some time before it settled. Vegas Ruler On return to scale apprentice S. Brown reported that the gelding failed to handle the soft track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

3 Spray Tan Raced wide throughout and was taken out wider on the course passing the 800m. Nothin Like Albert Over-raced in the early stages. Are The Bungs In Was crowded for room passing the 200m on the first occasion having to be steadied due to My Dancing Duel (NZ) being taken inwards initially by Bon DAller which when over-racing shifted in slightly before then being in tight galloping room to the inside of Vegas Ruler. As Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider they reported the incident. Bon DAller Over-raced in the early stages and approaching the post on the first occasions had to be restrained and racing close to the heels of Vegas Ruler (App S. Brown) which shifted in. Apprentice S. Brown was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Race 3 halls gap bakery 3yo maiden plate metres: Part The Sea Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Ronaldos Cross Commenced awkwardly. Commenced to over-race from near the 1000m and as a result shifted out then improved around the field to a position outside the leaders near the 800m. Bouffon Dipped passing the 500m when shifting to the outside of the tiring Ronaldos Cross. Destinys Revenge Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn. Doppler Rider L. Meech reported that the gelding, which was having its first race start, was quite green throughout. Race 4 ace radio mix fm maiden plate metres: Claudette Knuckled on jumping away and was then hampered by Jack Henry which jumped in at the start. Crystal Tycoon Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Scope (NZ) Overraced getting its head in the air in the early stages. Goodjamak Baby Was held up when unable to obtain clear running from on straightening until obtaining a tight run passing the 100m. Diva Doc Was held up when unable to obtain clear running from rounding the home turn to approaching the 100m. Happy Pilgrim When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today as compared to its most previous start, rider D. Yendall reported from the wide gate he was instructed to obtain a

4 position with cover. A representative from the D. Weir stable indicated that it had not been the intention to lead at its most previous start and the instructions today were the same as they had been for its last couple of runs, however from the wide gate today it did settle further back than anticipated. Race 5 halls gap hotel bm64 handicap metres: Kookiecutter Was fractious in the barriers and after undergoing a vet inspection was withdrawn on vet advice at 2.33pm. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. Viotti Had to be checked approaching the 800m when tightened in onto Airborne Magic by Tow Rage (NZ) (S. Payne). A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Pumatilly Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rain Fast Slow to begin. Haukland Beach (NZ) Slow to begin. Einstein Magic Was bumped near the 100m by Haukland Beach (NZ) which shifted inwards quickly. Rider J. Childs viewed the official film before deciding not to lodge an official objection. Airborne Magic Severely crowded for room having to be checked approaching the 800m. Rider S. Payne pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Viotti which was crowded inwards having to be checked which in turn resulted in Airborne Magic being severely crowded for room having to be checked losing its rightful running. S. Payne had his license to ride in races suspended for period covering 11 race meetings (2 metropolitan 9 provincial) to commence midnight Saturday 7 th January 2017 and to expire

5 midnight Tuesday 17 th January Stewards took into account his guilty plea and deemed the incident to be in the mid-range. Race 6 quarry restaurant bm58 handicap metres: Lachies A Star Slow to begin. Rider J. Hill was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the finish. In assessing the matter Stewards did not feel his actions affected the result. Street Ball Commenced awkwardly. Normandy Lad Passing the 1200m got its head up when being eased to avoid the heels of Gondoliera which had shifted in to obtain a position with cover. Rounding the home turn had to be restrained to avoid the heels of Our Henrietta (D. Bates). D. Bates was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when not fully clear. Free Willy Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Magical Ruby When questioned regarding the poor performance apprentice J. Eaton stated that in her opinion it failed to handle todays track conditions and further may not have been suited to the step up in distance. Race 7 northern grampians shire bm58 handicap 1300 metres: Barmaid From Wye Slow to begin. Kiss In The Rain Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Grand Awakening Was crowded for room at the start between Mexican Maracas and Apito which was taken inwards by Our Dexter. Sarimanok Over the final 100m was taken out off its course by Dangle Lad which laid outwards over the final 200m. Race 8 halls gap lakeside cup metres: Dantes Finale Connections advised that it was their intention from the wide gate to be ridden further back. Settled towards the rear of the field, however raced wide throughout. Samers Atom Slow to begin. Montana (NZ) Slow to begin. Rhythmatic Raced keenly getting its head in the air in the middle stages.

6 Already Taken Raced wide from approaching the 800m. Ilgattino On return to scale apprentice M. Julius reported that her mount over raced throughout and refused to settle. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice C. Hall was fined the sum of $200 under rule AR137(b). In accessing penalty Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that her actions had effected the result of the race bearing in mind the margin of a short head. However stewards also took into account apprentice C Halls poor record in relation to the rule.
