The market lies off the eastern ring road and motorists should follow signs for the HOSPITAL A&E, which will take them to Nunnery Way. METHOD OF SALE: All sheep will be sold in guineas. CONDITIONS OF SALE: The sale is held subject to the LAA and the Auctioneers General Conditions of Sale. SETTLEMENT & CLEARANCE: Settlement in full is due to the Auctioneers at the close of the sale. All sheep must be removed from the market on the day of sale. 6 HOLLYFORD FLOCK FOREWORD The Hollyford flock was founded on 12 ewes from the Highfields flock, which Alan managed for many years in East Sussex and have developed it further since moving to Devon in 2004 gradually expanding the flock from there on, but expansion hasn't been done at the expense of quality. This has resulted in the Hollyford Texel ewes producing high performance, big, fast growing, and easy finishing rams with outstanding tops and excellent gigots. Rams that produce lambs that finish with high weights and grade easily without the need for creep food. This has been achieved through rigorous selection and culling, leading to a flock with slightly more neck, which has led to easier presentations and lambings and is virtually free of foot rot. It has also been selected hard for easy fleshing, good tops, tight skins, teeth and legs. We sell mainly to commercial buyers and they want powerful shearlings capable of tupping decent numbers of ewes without being overfed and without excessively large heads. Feedback from our commercial customers is essential and shapes the breeding decisions we make. Performance recording is becoming more important for many of them, but of upmost importance is easy fleshing and good tops. This has produced ewes that are easy care, lamb easily, milk heavily, are excellent mothers and will rear two fast growing lambs really well. Ewes in our flock were sired by Knock Oregano, Knock Papoose, Hollyford Powerhouse, Goldies Supreme, Cambwell Terminator and Whitehart Taylormade. With this in mind service sire selection is based on extensive research with Alan often spending time visiting flocks to see female families before deciding to use a ram. We AI 90% of the ewes and buy semen from tups I've liked at the sales, or rams that are producing the fast growing lambs that we require. We mainly sell to commercial customers so don't need, or necessarily want, to be at the forefront of the fashionable genetics. 2

7 The Highfields and Hollyford flocks have been performance recorded for 35 years, this information is used as one of the tools of selection but is not paramount when selecting females. A level of index is set, usually in the top 10% of the breed, for replacement females to qualify for the selection pen and then the records are left to the side and the best sheep are selected as replacements. Major progress has been made in mature size and growth rates by using rams of high scan weight EBV onto ewes of high scan weight EBV, i.e. DHA has a scan weight EBV of and was mated by DHA with a scan weight EBV of 14.24, the result being a very high index lamb DHA , one of twins, index 443. This being the outstanding ram lamb of We have achieved many successes, which include twice winning Champion and Reserve Champion Live lambs at the Welsh Winter Fair, twice Champions of the English National Primestock, both live and carcase Champions at Smithfield, winners of the Jubilee Texel Carcase Championship and PRT Champion at the NSA Builth main ram sale. We have paid careful attention to each ewe s progeny as they develop during the year, and If a ewe isn't producing the type of sheep they want and that our customers want then we cull her. We can't afford to carry passengers. Shearling ewes are by Cambwell Trademark, Hollyford Winston, who sold for 3200gns at Builth 2016, Hollyford What A Boy, probably the only double muscled ram in the top 1% of the breed, Alwent Weightman, who was the fastest growing lamb in the Alwent flock in 2016 and one triplet lamb by Goldies Supreme. 8 REFERENCE TO SIRES CAMBWELL TRADEMARK LTC ARR/ARR Index 449 Sire BGS Sportsman Supreme Dam LTC A very high index (449) ram out of the 40,000gns Cambwell Rob Roys' sister, a huge ewe with good head character and very tight skin, that is breeding excellent mouths and big fast growing lambs. Has been used in the Hollyford flock on Whitehart Taylormade daughters to breed big fast growing shearlings adding an additional two inches to the height of the flock, as well as the character, nose end and tear drops, of Cambwell Rob Roy. HOLLYFORD WHAT A BOY DHA ARR/ARR Index 454 Sire DHA Hollyford Valhalla Dam DHA His sire Hollyford Valhalla, index 474, has bred tremendous skin, top lines and gigots. What a Boy has serious outstanding gigots, combined with growth, size and width. He has transmitted this into his first crop of lambs, which are showing tremendous tops and double muscled gigots, with good legs and feet. Probably the only double muscled ram in the top 1% of the breed HOLLYFORD WINSTON Index 400 Sire Cambwell Trademark LTC Dam DHA A very impressive heavy muscled son of Cambwell Trademark. Sold at Builth Main Ram Sale 2016 for 3200 gns. Now the stock ram at Blencaer. His dam DHA is a big heavily muscled easy fleshing daughter of Hollyford Sparky. Very good on his legs and a very tight skin as well as a very good nose and teardrops inherited from his sire Cambwell Trademark. 4

The Loosebeare flock had a successful 2016 sale season, with the rams sold at auction averaging over 800gns, our sale highlights include selling yearling rams at Carlisle to 3,400gns, also 1,900gns at Welshpool, and 3,500 at Kelso, we sold lambs to 7,000gns at Lanark, and 2,400 at Worcester, our in lamb ewes sold to a top of 4,500gns at Carlisle Twilight sale and the sale top of 1,050gns at Worcester Xmas Present Sale. 31 CONDITIONS OF SALE 1. The highest bidder shall be the purchaser and if any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders, the lot in dispute is to be put up again at the sum last bid or the Auctioneers may declare the purchaser. 2. The bidding is to be ruled by the auctioneers who may without giving any reason refuse to accept the bid of any person. 3. No person shall retract a bid without permission of the Auctioneers, who reserves the right to himself of refusing a bid, and also the right of withdrawing any lot or lots from the sale. 4. No bidder may advance less at a bid than the sum named from time to time by the Auctioneers. 5. The Purchaser must declare their name and address and if required to, pay the Auctioneers or his clerk the amount of purchase money immediately on the fall of the hammer. In default of which the lot or lots shall be offered again and re-sold, and under no circumstances must any lot be removed without first obtaining a pass from the clerk. 6. Title to each asset sold will only pass on payment in full by the Purchaser. Upon failure to comply with the above conditions, the uncleared lots will be re-sold either or by public or private sale and the deficiency (if any) and all expenses attendant thereon, shall be made good by the defaulters at this auction, who shall have no claim for any surplus that may arise. 17. The Auctioneers may rescind any sale within 3 hours of the final lot being sold if the lot has been sold under reserve. In the event of such rescission the purchase price or any part already paid by the Buyer shall be repaid but the parties and the Auctioneers shall be under no further liability to each other. 18.
