7 USHJA OUTREACH CLASS INFORMATION The USHJA Outreach Program provides members at any level of membership with an opportunity to earn national recognition in classes from walk/trot/canter to 3'0" hunter, jumper and medal competition at various types of competition. The program is designed to celebrate riders as they advance through the competitive experience. Any rider may compete in Outreach hunter and jumper classes, but riders wishing to earn points and national recognition, must be USHJA members. USHJA offers an Outreach Membership for $35. Riders are required to be members of USHJA (Outreach level or higher) in order to compete in the USHJA Outreach medal classes. Horses are not required to be registered with USHJA to compete in Outreach classes. Membership Requirements A. Outreach Membership level $35. B. Riders competing in Outreach hunter and jumper classes do not have to be USHJA members. They only have to be members in order to earn USHJA Outreach points. C. Riders are required to be members of USHJA (Outreach level or higher) in order to compete in the USHJA Outreach medal classes. D. For Show Official membership requirements, refer to Category 1 and Category 2 specific requirements. E. Horses are not required to be registered with USHJA to compete in Outreach classes.
8 USHJA OUTREACH Class Sections and Points CLASS COST $15 PER CLASS Hunter Sections 1. All courses must have at least seven jumps and no combinations are allowed. Oxers are discouraged for any class with fences below 2 6. At one day USHJA Outreach Shows, only the first two numbered over fences classes (hunters), regardless of how many classes are held, and one hunter under saddle class in each hunter section will count for USHJA Outreach points. At multiple day USHJA Outreach Shows, only the first three numbered over fences classes, regardless of how many classes are held, and one under saddle class in each hunter section will count for USHJA Outreach points. a) USHJA Outreach Hunters 18 or Crossrail is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 2 0 during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 0 at the same show. b) USHJA Outreach Hunters 2 0 is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 2 3 in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 3 at the same show. c) USHJA Outreach Hunters 2 6 is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 3 0 in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 9 at the same show. d) USHJA Outreach Hunter Derby is held over a single-round course of at least 10 fences at 2 6 in height, with three option fences set at 2 9. The course will consist of hunter classic and hunter handy style lines, turns and jumps. The judge will use the open numerical scoring system. After the judge s score is given, one point will be added for each high option fence jumped successfully (no knockdowns or refusals) for a maximum of three additional points added to the judge s score. Only one Derby may be held during a given show. Medal Sections 1. A show, regardless of the number of days, may only offer one of each of the USHJA Outreach Medal Classes. These classes may not be held in conjunction with any other class and must be named as listed by the USHJA. Riders may continue riding in the USHJA Outreach Medal Classes throughout the year regardless of the number of wins or points accrued. a) USHJA Outreach Walk/Trot/Canter Medal Class is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 18 or cross rails during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 18 or cross rails at the same show. Riders to show at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Judges must ask at least three riders to perform additional tests. Judges must select at least two tests from this list: halt, sitting trot, figure eight at the trot, drop and resume irons at the halt. b) USHJA Outreach 2 0 Medal Class is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 2 3 in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 3 at the same show. At least three
9 riders without major faults, if available, will be asked to work off on the flat. Judges must select at least two tests from USEF Equitation Tests 1 through 5 and 8. c) USHJA Outreach 2 6 Medal Class is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 3 0 in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 9 at the same show. At least three riders without major faults, if available, will be asked to work off. No other USEF Jumper scoring tables are allowed. a) USHJA Outreach Jumpers 2 3 (.70m) is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 2 6 /.75m in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 6 /.75m at the same show. b) USHJA Outreach Jumpers 2 6 (.75m) is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 2 9 /.80m in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 2 9 /.80m at the same show. c) USHJA Outreach Jumpers 2 9 (.85m) is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 3 0 /.90m in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 3 0 /.90m at the same show. d) USHJA Outreach Jumpers 3 0 (.90m) is open to riders who have not shown over fences exceeding 3 3 /1.0m in height during the current competition year. Riders may not compete in any class where the fences exceed 3 3 / 1.0m at the same show. Points 1. At least three entries must complete the course or class for points to count. 2. Points will accrue through sixth place for any class that has six or more entries. In classes with six or more entries, full points will accrue as follows: For classes with three to five entries, points will be scaled as follows: Five entries: Four entries: Three entries: Points are earned only in a member s home zone. If a member changes zones, because of school, work, or otherwise, he must request permission change his home zone to the USHJA in writing in order for his points to follow him. Points will follow the USHJA competition year, December 1, 2016 to November 30, 2017.
10 5. USHJA will provide certificates of merit in three categories in each USHJA Outreach section or class. 6. Bronze Level: riders must earn at least 30 points during the competition year. 7. Silver Level: riders must earn at least 50 points during the competition year. 8. Gold Level: riders must earn at least 75 points during the competition year. 9. Certificates will be awarded by zone, and if a zone banquet is held the zone committee is strongly encouraged to present USHJA Outreach certificates during the banquet. Otherwise certificates will be mailed. When a rider achieves Bronze the USHJA will mail the certificate at that time. Presentations of Silver and Gold certificates will be awarded at the end of the year.) 2017 OPEN SCHOOLING SHOW S INFORMATION & FEES: SHOW OFFICIALS: Please check our website, for a list of current officials for each of the schooling shows. Please call in your stall reservations early therefore we can make a decision on how many rings to run as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support! STALL RESERVATIONS: YOU MAY FAX ENTRIES TO There are no late fees or membership fees. Please call or to reserve a stall. We ask that reservations be made at least 1 week prior. 254 permanent stalls with doors are available. Stalls are available at 9 AM of day preceding Show and must be vacated by noon of day following the Show s close. Stalls are 10X12 and 12X12. No first bedding is provided. Straw bedding is not permitted. Stall assignments at discretion of management. PRIZES: Must have three class entries to receive a prize per class. CHAMPIONSHIPS: Championships will be awarded to all divisions with three competitors in each class. SHOW ATTIRE: Jackets are excused. Please no chaps. Field boots or paddock boots. Polo shirts are acceptable. CROSS ENTERING DIVISIONS: Low Adult Hunter may not cross enter into Adult Htr. Low Children's Hunter may not cross enter into Children's Hunter. Walk, Walk Trot, Crossrails, Short Stirrups, Long Stirrups, Adult Long Stirrups may all cross enter into appropriate age groups. These divisions may also enter into Pre Child Hunter/Equit. Some divisions within realm may be combined due to lack of entries in age group. BACK NUMBERS: Numbers will be issued only when entries have been completed and paid or an open check has been left and entries have all necessary signatures are complete. Open check or credit card authorization must be left with show secretary to pick up number. No schooling without a number. Non-showing horse must also have a show back number. HORSE SHOW AGE: Horse Show age by age on January 1, ORDER OF GO & COURSES: If Order of go is needed it will be posted ½ hour prior to the start of the class. Courses will be posted 1/2 prior to class. HARD HAT RULE: All riders must wear PROPERLY FITTING ASTM APPROVED PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR at all times while mounted with chinstrap secured. No exceptions! ENTRIES CLOSING DATE: Show entries close one week prior show date. Please send or fax entries in advance, there are no late fees. OFFICE HOURS: The office will be opened at 1:30 PM the day prior to the first Show day and will remained open to 6:00 PM. Each Show day, the office will open one half hour prior to the first class. NEGATIVE COGGINS CERTIFICATE: Current (within one year) Negative Coggins Test must be available upon demand.
11 REFUSAL OF ENTRY: Show Management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, and to cancel any entries, disqualify exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries and cancel awards or prizes, without claim for damages.
