Cummins Stewards conducted a number of inspections of trainers stables with runners engaged at today s meeting as well as a number of vehicles in the oncourse float car park as part of the Compliance Assurance raceday activities. RACE 1: CHAMPION FILLIES DAY THIS SATURDAY MAIDEN M OLAF Lay inwards throughout running and shifted inwards near the 500m despite the efforts of its rider. Returned having cast its near hind plate during running. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with abrasions to its near hind. DRAGON COMMANDER Raced wide and greenly throughout SOUTHERN WARRIOR Raced keenly through the early and middle stages and wide for the majority of the event. ORANGE STRUDEL - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Dipped on jumping. PARIS TEXAS Momentarily crowded and eased near the 650m and approaching the 500m was crowded from heels and steadied becoming unbalanced for a short distance and lost ground. PARADINI Steadied from heels passing the 500m. IN THE BOOT Dwelt on jumping and lost one length. Raced keenly through the early and middle stages having to be steadied when improving onto heels approaching the 700m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned with abrasions to both hind legs. CLEVER DICK Steadied outwards passing the 500m. General: Jockeys N. Faithfull (OLAF), R. Forrest (DRAGON COMMANDER) and Apprentice T. Stone (PARIS TEXAS) appeared before Stewards with regards to PARIS TEXAS racing in restricted room approaching the 500m and having to be steadied, losing its positon. Jockey N. Faithfull tendered the explanation that her mount had a tendency to lay inwards through this section of the race despite her attempts to keep it on a straight course and had shifted inwards away from DRAGON COMMANDER which had been racing greenly at that time which resulted in PARIS TEXAS racing in restricted room and having to be steadied, losing ground. Stewards attributed this incident to the greenness of runners and were of the opinion no rider had ridden carelessly in this incident and therefore took no further action other than to remind all riders to show due diligence at all times.

2 ASCOT : /2 RACE 2: STREAM LIVE ON TABTOUCH HANDICAP M RAJA SEAT - Commenced awkwardly. Blocked for clear running from on straightening and when attempting to secure a clear passage approaching the 200m was disappointed and steadied outwards before gaining a clear run at the 150m. SHARKMOUTH Raced keenly through the early stages with the saddle then shifting forward from the 700m placing its rider in difficulty through the middle stages and at a disadvantage in the straight as she was unable to rider her mount out. Rider s race riding gear was inspected and found to be in a satisfactory condition. TRANSGRESSOR Raced wide throughout. Returned with a laceration to its near hind heels and having cast its near hind plate during running. TWELVE ROUNDS Bumped on jumping. Steadied outwards when improving onto heels at the 500m. YOU WATCHING ME - Commenced awkwardly and bumped and raced keenly through the early and middle stages. RACE 3: JAMES BOAG'S PREMIUM RAILWAY STAKES - NOV 19 HCP M ELECTION Lay outwards in the straight. GIGIDY GIGIDY GOO - Commenced awkwardly and was steadied shortly after the start and lost three lengths. CORUSCATION Raced wide throughout. Steadied when inconvenienced passing the 700m. Steadied outwards at the 400m. ROTANA BEACH - Slow into stride, losing one length. Steadied outwards when improving onto heels passing the 700m. Lay inwards across heels having to be steadied outwards at the 400m. Lay inwards in the straight. Rider advised that the gelding may not have appreciated racing in consecutive weeks. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 4: KIRIN MEGUMI HANDICAP M HURRICANE JACK Raced wide for the majority of the event. RISING SEA Commenced awkwardly and bumped heavily. Raced keenly through the early stages having to be steadied when improving onto heels near the 1100m. Lay inwards and bumped passing the 650m. Rider reported that the colt made respiratory noises throughout running. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr D. Pearce will be contacted regarding the colt s recovery and his future intentions. NEVARDA Bumped heavily and buffeted becoming unbalanced on jumping. RUN FOR A REASON - Commenced awkwardly and bumped heavily. Raced wide throughout. SUNSET PETE Steadied when improving onto heels near the 1100m and then commenced to race keenly through the middle stages with its rider being obliged to steady outwards passing the 1000m and raced wide thereafter. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr D. McAuliffe will be contacted regarding the gelding s recovery and his future intentions. HELLO DALLY Bumped near the 650m. RACE 5: THE TABTOUCH MASTERS NOV 19 NOV 26 DEC 3 HCP M PRESELECTION Held up for clear running from on straightening until taken inwards approaching the 200m. JASPARA Lay outwards and steadied shortly after straightening. INDI PACIFIC Raced wide from the 600m. Hindquarters bumped outwards becoming unbalanced for a short distance on straightening. A post race Veterinary examination revealed

3 ASCOT : /3 Race 5 Continued no abnormalities. Trainer Mr A. Mathews advised that he would have blood samples taken from the mare and advise Stewards of the results. BACKHOUSE STREET Slow into stride, losing one length. DELICADO Bumped on straightening. RACE 6: YOUNG MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP M HERECOMESBONKERS Raced wide throughout. COME ON BOARD Lay outwards in the straight. IRISH BROTHER A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Ms J. Erkelens advised that it was her intention to race the gelding in the Provincial area for its next start. REGAL ROGUE Raced wide from the 600m. TORTE CAPRESE Trainer Mr B. Albuino advised that he would instruct for the mare to be ridden off the pace if possible and this information was disseminated. Impeded for clear running rounding the home turn and from on straightening until the 250m RYAMAR Veered outwards abruptly on jumping. Raced wide from the 600m. PEARL A DECOY A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to the outside of its off fore fetlock. PERSIAN PRINCESS Bumped heavily on jumping and crowded and steadied shortly after the start. Impeded for clear running rounding the home turn and for a short distance on straightening. QUEEN'S PARADE (NZ) Slow into stride, losing one length. When easing his mount down post race approaching the 1400m he dismounted with a subsequent Veterinary examination revealing the filly to have sustained a laceration to its off hind tendon and to be lame in that leg. The filly was transported off course to a Veterinary Clinic for further treatment and assessment. Trainer Mr D. McAuliffe was advised that the filly will require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to trialling and will have to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. STORM TRADE - Commenced awkwardly and bumped. General: When interviewed regarding QUEEN S PARADE sustaining a laceration to its off hind tendon, Apprentice J. Turner explained that the filly had travelled comfortably throughout running, however from the 600m onwards it had shown a tendency to lay outwards and felt uncomfortable in its action. He further advised that he had been unaware in the run that it had been galloped on behind and had not been aware of her faltering at any stage of the race which would have indicated where this had occurred. Stewards have adjourned to interview Jockey R. Hill (TORTE CAPRESE) and C. Johnston-Porter (LOLONG) as to whether they can assist Stewards in this matter. RACE 7: AMELIA PARK HANDICAP M BIG RED COSTA Trainer Mr W. Mitchell advised that he would instruct for the gelding to be ridden back with cover if possible and this information was disseminated. Bumped on jumping. When questioned regarding his mount taking up a forward position contrary to Trainer Mitchell s instructions, rider advised that after commencing well and being placed wide through the early stages whilst being aware of the instructions being given to him he felt it was more advantageous in the early stages of the race to allow his mount to stride forward when being positioned five wide with runners behind him and to his inside than restrain his mount back and as a result allowed it to stride forward and take up a position on the pace as in his opinion this was the better option given the prevailing circumstances through the early stages of the race.

4 ASCOT : /4 Race 7 Continued LEVENTI Raced wide throughout. TOPPA DAWOZZA Raced keenly through the early and middle stages and was steadied when improving onto heels passing the 600m. Impeded for a short distance and angled inwards passing the 200m. WAVEHILL SPUR Raced keenly through the middle stages with the saddle shifting forward from the 1000m placing its rider in extreme difficulty in her being able to fully assist her mount and as a result was obliged to angle it outwards from the 800m after which it was uncompetitive. Rider s race riding gear was inspected and found to be in a satisfactory condition. PRINCESS JASMAN Bumped on jumping. FERNGROVE Commenced awkwardly and bumped. On returning to scale the rider was dislodged and after being attended to by the St Johns Ambulance and Medical Officers was found to have mild knee soreness. ROCKER CHICK Bounded as the start was effected and bumped, losing one length. WANDERER Returned having cast its near hind plate during running. GENERAL Routine specimens were taken from all winners, and The following horses were selected for pre-race blood samples to be taken: Race 4. LORD LUDLOW, RISING SEA, NEVARDA Race 5. KAAPANDER, FIRST AFFAIR, BACKHOUSE STREET WITHDRAWALS AFTER FINAL ACCEPTANCES Race 1. MISS SLATER - Future engagement. Race 3. STEP RIGHT UP Lame in the off hind. Race 4. SMALLAMOUNTOFMERIT Nominated Ascot 12/11. Race 5. CROWN CHOICE Sore in the off heel. Race 6. FOUR LETTER WERD Sore from being shod 7/11. Reprimands: Trials: Veterinary Certificates: SUMMARY Race 1. Jockey P. Carbery AR.85B for failing to fulfil his riding engagement on BELLA S KEEPER. Race 6. QUEEN'S PARADE - laceration to its off hind tendon and lame in that leg. Race 6. QUEEN'S PARADE - laceration to its off hind tendon and lame in that leg. Riding Changes: Jockey P. Carbery (miscommunication) was replaced by Jockey C. Staples on BELLA S KEEPER. Whip Rule Race 4. Jockey S. McGruddy (NEVARDA) was warned ARR.137A(4)(c) Breaches and (d) for using the whip when his mount was out of contention and Warnings, Fines showing no response. and Reprimands: Change of Tactics: Race 6. TORTE CAPRESE to be ridden off the pace if possible. Race 7. BIG RED COSTA to be ridden back with cover if possible

5 ASCOT : /5 LATE REPORTS Ascot Saturday, 5 November RACE 6: WAROA-LEE STEERE STAKES M PORNICHET - Trainer Mr D. Morton advised the horse recovered well following the race and given its fierce racing manner he sought and was granted permission to remove the blinkers in an endeavour to have it settle and added that he will instruct the rider to position it off the speed for its next start. Ascot Saturday, 5 November RACE 8: GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP M RIPPER RIO - Trainer Mr B. Kersley informed Stewards that the gelding recovered with no abnormalities and that it is now his intention to start it over an increased distance and will consider having it ridden on the pace if possible for its next start. Ascot Saturday, 5 November RACE 8: GLENROY CHAFF HANDICAP M JUENDIS Trainer Mr J. Taylor advised that the gelding recovered well, however it would now be sent for a spell. Geraldton, Sunday 16 October 2016 Race 1: Bunbury Motel & Serviced Apartments Maiden (1100m) On Monday, 7 November 2016 Stewards concluded the adjourned inquiry into the reason for FEARHILDI (Misty Bazeley) being tightened for room with that mare blundering from heels over the concluding stages causing Jockey Bazeley to be dislodged. Evidence was taken from Jockeys Robert Markou (BLUES SHADOW), Matthieu Autier (KENTHEL), and Misty Bazeley. Jockey R. Markou was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) for allowing BLUES SHADOW to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of FEARHILDI passing the 50m which was the major contributing factor to that mare being tightened for room and blundering from the heels of BLUES SHADOW causing Jockey Bazeley to be dislodged. Jockey Markou was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 24 days to commence midnight Saturday, 12 November 2016 to expire at midnight on Tuesday, 6 December When assessing penalty Stewards took into account the level of carelessness being in the mid to high range and interference being in the high range as a fall resulted, however there was a contributing factor due to KENTHEL shifting ground outwards at the same time, and his prior good record in relation to this rule. Further, Jockey Matthieu Autier (KENTHEL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) with the particulars being that he allowed his mount to shift outwards passing the 50m when insufficiently clear resulting in FEARHILDI being bumped outwards which was a contributing factor to it being tightened for room and blundering from the heels of BLUES SHADOW and falling. Jockey Autier was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 14 days to commence midnight Sunday13 November 2016 and to expire at midnight on Sunday 27 November When assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Autier s good record in relation to this rule, the level of carelessness being in the low range and also the interference being in the high range and that there was a contributing factor to this incident, his guilty plea and that the period of suspensions contains numerous Group and Listed races.
