Gwartheg Cattle All cattle will be weighed once only, between 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm Sunday, 30 November. NO animal will be weighed, shown or sold unless its correctly completed passport is handed in during weighing. For sale purposes, all the original cattle weights will be rounded down to the nearest five kilos. Defaid Sheep All sheep will be weighed once only on arrival. Moch Pigs All pigs will be weighed once only upon arrival. GADAEL DEPARTURE Departure from the Showground will be permitted as follows:- Cattle: 4.30 pm Tuesday, 2 December. Sheep: 4.00 pm Tuesday, 2 December. Pigs: 4.00 pm Tuesday, 2 December. Lamb Carcasses: must be removed between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm Tuesday, 2 December. Please note the rules regarding pre-movement TB testing. Cattle moving to the Winter Fair will require a Pre-Movement Test unless under 42 days old. 2. The Champion and Reserves of Specials (55, 56 and 57) MUST be offered for sale; if not the prize money will be withheld. 3. Kindly note that the Society will not allow exhibitors to use stalls which they have booked, if they are not being used to stall cattle. No refund will be given to exhibitors if an unused stall is redrafted back to the Society to re-allocate during the event. Exhibitors are advised to cancel any unwanted stalls by 24th November Any exhibitor failing to comply with this regulation will be noted and action may be taken by the Society s Board of Directors following the event. 4. There is a minimum weight limit for the senior cattle classes, therefore any animal weighing 425kg and under will automatically be transferred into the Baby Beef section. 5. No bulls are permitted. All cattle must be under 30 months old on 7 December Exhibits must be ear tagged in such a way for the tag to be clearly visible and in accordance with Welsh Governement requirements. 7. The name of exhibit, ear number, breed of sire, breed of dam and date of birth MUST be supplied for each animal entered. No animal, even if eligible, can be entered in more than one section/class. 8. A copy of the front cover of the passport MUST accompany the entry form(s) for each exhibit. All exhibits will be classified by the breed of the sire stated on the passport. 9. Pedigree Limousin Classes - Entries in these classes must be registered with the Limousin Breed Society. Exhibitors are requested to send a photocopy of the Breed Society Registration Certificate with their entry form for checking. 10. Pedigree Welsh Black Classes - Entries in these classes must have been birth notified with the Welsh Black Cattle Society. Exhibitors are requested to send a photocopy of the Breed Society Registration Certificate with their entry form for checking. 11. Pedigree Hereford Classes - Entries in these classes must have been birth notified with the Hereford Cattle Society. Exhibitors are requested to send a photocopy of the Breed Society Registration Certificate with their entry form for checking. 12. Crossbred Classes All crossbred animals must be sired by a pedigree/registered bull. 13 Pedigree Classes The name of the sire must be supplied for all entries into the Pedigree Breed classes (Classes 8,9,10 and 21, 22 & 23.) The Society reserves the right to DNA test any exhibit. 14. NO animal will be weighed, shown or sold unless its correctly completed passport is handed in before weighing. The catalogue number must be written on the document at the top right corner. 4

6 15. If five or more entries for the same breed, entered by three or more exhibitors, are received within the any other pure breed sections, a separate section may be held for that breed. 16. The Society reserves the right at all times to transfer individual exhibits as it sees fit, and to cancel a section if insufficient entries are received. 17. The Society reserves the right to classify all entries by weight. Weight ranges will be adjusted according to entries forward. All weights will be rounded down to the nearest five kilos for the sale. 18. The Society reserves the right to alter the schedule according to prevailing circumstances. 19. The Society reserves the right to limit entries. 20. Division of sections/classes will be at the sole discretion of the Society. 21. All Classes and section winners will be judged by their respective judges. 22. The Society reserves the right to proceed with the Championship Judging even if the reserves involved are not available. 23. If a Section Winner/First Place exhibit is unable to go forward to the next stage of judging for any reason, the Reserve Section Winner/Second Place exhibit will not be allowed to go forward for judging. 24. All cattle will be judged in Hall 1 of the Society s Royal Welsh Exhibition Centre. Under no circumstances will judging be delayed. 25. The winners of the Supreme and Reserve Supreme Championships will be suitably displayed by the Society. 26. All cattle handlers must be 14 years of age or over on the first day of the Winter Fair. 27. All Cattle must be double haltered whilst stalled. 28. Cattle halters. All exhibitors must leave their exhibits sold at auction, secured by means of a suitable halter tied to the stall ready for the buyer to collect. 9 CYSTADLEUAETH TRINWYR IFANC YOUNG HANDLERS COMPETITION Beirniad / Judge: Mr Gerwyn Jones, Graig Goch, Nebo, Llanrwst, LL26 0SY Only cattle entered in the open classes by the closing date of entries may be used for this competition. The cattle must be entered in accordance with the rules of the Schedule. The Judge will judge the ability of the handler to control and show the cattle and not the quality of the cattle. However the cattle must be shown to its best advantage to the judge. The handlers must be years old on the first day of the Winter Fair. All heifers and steers must be 426 kg and over. The young handler must complete a young handler entry form and submit it by the closing date of entries, 22 October The animal does not have to be owned by the handler. The entries will be split into two appropriate age groups during the Winter Fair. Competitors are required to declare their intention to compete during the weighing of cattle on Sunday, 30 November A declaration slip (provided in ticket pack) should be given to the cattle stewards situated in the hut by the Collecting Ring tunnel in Hall will be presented to each handler forward. The results from this section will not go towards the highest number of point s award. Arbennig / Special 11 RWAS award, 100 and rosette for the Champion Junior Young Handler. Exhibitors must retain ownership of the exhibit concerned from birth and the exhibit must remain on the exhibitor s property from 1st June to commencement of Winter Fair. For Championship judging, the Champion from each Section will be called forward, and the Reserve Champions will be held in reserve. 13. All lambs MUST be born in Ewe lambs must not be in lamb or have been running with the Ram. 15. Sheep judging will normally take place in two rings; where an exhibitor has sheep to be judged in both rings at the same time, the onus is on that exhibitor to arrange for someone else to show those exhibits if he or she cannot show them him or herself. Under no circumstances will judging be delayed. 16. Any exhibitor wishing to share transport with another exhibitor, please contact your local Welsh Government office to obtain the necessary licence to allow multiple pick ups. A Sunday stable will operate from 6.00 pm Sunday to 5.30 pm Monday; a Monday stable will operate from 6.00 pm Monday to 5.30 pm Tuesday. Please note that those who wish to stable for two nights, but are only showing on one day, will need to purchase tickets to allow them to enter the stabling area on the day that they are not competing. No straw will be provided. As stables are limited, not all exhibitors can be accommodated. Therefore, exhibitors must realise that later reservations may have to be cancelled. Exhibitors will be informed accordingly. No stable fees will be refunded after Monday, 17 November Stables will be provided in accordance with the requirements below and exhibits must be stabled in the box allocated. 38 The Society reserves the right to alter the Schedule according to prevailing circumstances. RHEOLAU A R RHEOLIADAU RULES & REGULATIONS 1. Y GOSB AM DORRI DEDDFAU PENALTY FOR BREAKING RULES The Board of Directors reserves the right to bar from exhibiting, either in person or through a nominee or agent, any exhibitor, who, in the opinion of the Board, contravenes or has contravened any of the Society's Rules, Regulations or Conditions or who has been disqualified or prohibited from exhibiting or has been fined or otherwise dealt with under the said Rules, Regulations and Conditions, for such period as it shall think fit. The Board of Directors may refuse to accept an entry without giving any reason for such refusal. Should any member or exhibitor conduct himself or herself in an improper or offensive manner on the Showground or if it be proven to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors (or of any official of the Society to which the Board has delegated such responsibility) that any member or exhibitor has attempted to mislead the Society by any form of misrepresentation whatsoever or has failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for a failure to produce an exhibit duly entered for a Show or has violated any of the Rules & Regulations of the Society then, and in any such case, the Board of Directors may decline to allow the member concerned to renew his or her membership or the exhibitor concerned to exhibit at any future Show of such period as the Board of Directors may in its absolute discretion determine and may forfeit any prize or prize money of such exhibitor. 2. GWOBRAU ARBENNIG SPECIAL PRIZES Special Prizes, Championships or Challenge Cups are offered for competition at the Society's Winter Fair s subject only to the following conditions:- Should any exhibit become ineligible for a class prize either (a) by direct disqualification on protest sustained by the Board of Directors, or (b) automatically through failing to comply with the Society's Rules & Regulations, such exhibit will also be disqualified from the award of any Special Prize relating to such class. 3. CWPANAU A THLYSAU PARHAOL PERPETUAL CUPS AND TROPHIES Perpetual Prizes will be awarded to the winner of a class or section on the following conditions:- They will be retained by the Society to be displayed in the new Trophy Room in the Clwyd Glamorgan Hall. A memento will be given to the winner of each trophy. The trophies will be engraved following the Winter Fair. 4. GWOBRAU A GYNIGIWYD AWARDS OFFERED Only the SIGNED AWARDS OF THE JUDGES will be accepted by the Society as evidence that a prize has been awarded and the production of a Prize Card or Rosette by the exhibitor will not entitle him/her to a prize. 5. TALU GWOBRAU ARIANNOL PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY All prize money will now be paid by BACS, unless an exhibitor has specifically requested otherwise. When processed and approved, in accordance with the terms of the Society s Rules & Regulations, payments for prizes awarded at the Winter Fair, where there is no dispute, will be made not later than one month after the Winter Fair. Any outstanding amounts due to the Society may be set-off against any prize money or other amount owed to the exhibitor. 6. FFORFFEDU GWOBRAU ARIANNOL FORFEITURE OF PRIZE MONEY Any infringement of any Rules, Regulations or Conditions, will render the exhibitor liable to a fine of by the Stewards, and to the forfeiture by order of the Board of Directors, of any prize he/she may be entitled to. 7. PŴER I DDILEU GWOBRAU POWER TO CANCEL AWARDS Any person who shall have been shown, to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors, to have been excluded from exhibiting for prizes at the exhibition of any Society, in consequence of having been convicted of any attempt to obtain prize money by giving a false Certificate, or by other unfair means shall not be allowed to compete for any prizes offered by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Limited at 37

39 any of its Winter Fairs, until otherwise decided by the Board of Directors. If, through any evasion, such person shall make an entry and obtain an award, the Board of Directors shall have power to cancel such award and withhold the prize money. Any person who has been disqualified from exhibiting for prizes at the exhibition of any Society under the preceding condition shall not be allowed to act as agent, representative or servant of any exhibitor at any of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Ltd's future Winter Fairs, until otherwise decided by the Board of Directors. 8. RHEOLIADAU PROTESTIO REGULATIONS AS TO PROTESTS "A protest must be lodged in writing within an hour of the class being judged and handed to the Winter Fair Director or Assistant Honorary Director, together with a deposit fee of per individual objector. If, on investigation, the protest is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Protest Committee, then the deposit may be forfeited to the funds of the Society". The Protest Committee would consist of the Winter Fair Director, the Assistant Honorary Director concerned, the Chief or Senior Steward concerned and the Chairman of the Winter Fair Committee. 9. PENDERFYNIAD TERFYNOL Y BWRDD O CYFARWYDDWYR FINAL DECISION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Board of Directors reserves, to themselves, the right of determining all disputed cases as to disqualifications, discipline etc., and the decision of the Board of Directors shall be final. 10. TALU TALIADAU CYSTADLU PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES Entry fees must accompany all entries and any entries in which these and the following conditions are not observed will not be accepted. Cheques and Postal Orders should be made payable to the 'Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Ltd.' and crossed 'Not Negotiable.' The Society reserves the right to withhold any tickets and passes until all entry fees and any other monies owing have been paid in full. 11. HAWL I DOCYNNAU ARDDANGOSWYR AR GYFER POB ADRAN EXHIBITOR TICKET ENTITLEMENT FOR ALL SECTIONS Cattle, Sheep and Pig Sections 1-3 Exhibits 2 Tickets 4 Exhibits and over 3 Tickets Carcass Sections 1 Exhibit and over 1 Ticket (Exhibitors whom enter live animals as well as a carcass will not receive any additional tickets for their carcass entry.) Horse Section 1-2 Exhibits 2 Tickets 3 Exhibits and over 3 Tickets Horse exhibitors will only receive the relevant tickets for the day/s of showing. 12. GWOBRAU ARBENNIG TALIADAU CYSTADLU AC AMODAU SPECIAL PRIZES - ENTRY FEES AND CONDITIONS No entry fee is charged for a Special Prize, Champion Prize or Challenge Cup, but no exhibit can be entered to compete for a Special Prize, Champion Prize or Challenge Cup, unless already entered in a class for which an entry fee is chargeable. 13. DYDDIAD CAU CEISIADAU CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES Entries close on 22 October 2014 at 5.00 pm. Dates stipulated for closing of entries will be very strictly adhered to, late entries will NOT be accepted. No substitutions will be accepted after this date. 14. CWBLHAU FFURFLENNI CAIS COMPLETION OF ENTRY FORMS The necessary printed forms may be obtained from the Livestock Office. No stock will be accepted for exhibition unless the Certificate of Entry, filled in upon the official printed form, is completed and signed by the exhibitor (or his/her Agent) in the manner directed and shall have been delivered to the Society, or sent (postage paid) direct on or before 22 October

CYMHWYSTER Y CEISIADAU ELIGIBILITY OF ENTRIES No animal, even if eligible, can be entered in more than one section/class (except for the pair class in the cattle section this excludes pigs and horses). Exhibitors in all sections are NOT permitted to enter an animal in any class, which is to be judged by a person who has, or had, a financial or other interest in the animal, or which has stood in his/her yard. The onus of complying with this regulation rests entirely on the exhibitor. 16. CYFRIFOLDEB YR ARDDANGOSWYR RESPONSIBILITY OF EXHIBITORS Exhibitors are alone responsible for the accuracy and eligibility of their entries. Entry fees are not returnable to an exhibitor who enters an animal in a class for which it is ineligible or for entries that are withdrawn after the date of entry has expired. Exhibitors are expected to behave in an appropriate manner at all times whilst on the Showground. Any exhibitor deemed by the Society to have acted inappropriately or in a manner not befitting the Society, may be barred from exhibiting their stock at the Winter Fair or asked to leave the Showground with their stock immediately. The decision will be made by the Hon. Fair Director and his decision will be final. The matter may also be referred to the Societies Disciplinary Panel for any future sanctioning. 17. DYDDIADAU GENI DATES OF BIRTH The ages of cattle are (except where otherwise specified) calculated to the day of the Fair, but sheep, pigs and horses will be duly classified by the age estimated from the 1 st January in each year (thus a foal born at any period in 2013 becomes a yearling on the 1 st January 2014). The exact date of birth of each animal must, wherever possible, be stated on the entry form, in order that the Judges may take the actual ages into consideration when deciding upon the relative merits of the animals in each class. 18. EIDDO ARDDANGOSWYR PROPERTY OF EXHIBITORS Every exhibit must at the time of entry be the bona fide property of the person in whose name the entry appears in the official catalogue as exhibitor until the end of the Winter Fair / point of sale, except by special permission of the Board of Directors. 19. CYFNEWIDIADAU SUBSTITUTIONS An exhibitor who has made, in due time, an entry in a particular class will be permitted up to 22 October to withdraw the entry for such animal and substitute for it an entry of another animal in the same class which was his/her Bona Fide property at the time of his/her original entry. No substitutions will be accepted after 22 October (except as provided for under Rules & Regulations 20 below). 20. CYFNEWIDIADAU ARBENNIG SPECIAL SUBSTITUTIONS In the event of any animal duly entered becoming ineligible for exhibition in consequence of restrictions imposed by the Welsh Government, the Board of Directors reserves the right to allow the owner of such animal to substitute another one for it. 21. CLEFYD HEINTUS CONTAGIOUS DISEASE Any exhibitor shall forfeit and pay to the Society for costs incurred as and for liquidated damages if any animal which he/she exhibits is, to his/her knowledge, suffering from any contagious or infectious disease, and for each and every such animal if more than one. 22. CYWIRDEB Y CEISIADAU CORRECTNESS OF ENTRY Every exhibitor shall prove the correctness of his or her Certificate of Entry to the satisfaction of the Stewards, if and when called upon by them to do so. Failing to furnish the required proof he/she may be prohibited from exhibiting. Any prize, if awarded, may be withheld and the award cancelled. Any animal found at the Winter Fair incorrectly ear marked will be removed from the Showground. Exhibitors should note that in the event of a dispute the Society reserves the right to carry out DNA Testing. 23. TOCYNNAU MYNEDIAD ADMISSION TICKETS Exhibitors must show their Admission Ticket each time they enter the Showground. No one shall be allowed to enter the Showground without the correct tickets and passes. The exhibitor will be responsible for the proper use of the tickets and passes issued to his or her attendants. In case of 39

41 transfer, or other improper use of a ticket or pass, the exhibitor will be required to pay a fine of for each case. 24. AMODAU MYNEDIAD CONDITIONS OF ADMITTANCE Persons are admitted to the Showground at their own risk and while every endeavour is taken to ensure their safety, the Society will not (save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Society, its Servants or Agents) be responsible for personal injury (whether fatal or otherwise), loss of or damage to property, and any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused. 25. AMODAU PARCIO CEIR CAR PARKING CONDITIONS Persons are admitted entry to the Winter Fair car park at their own risk and vehicles and their accessories and contents are admitted to and left in the Winter Fair car parks at the owners' risk, and, while every endeavour is taken to ensure the safety thereof, the Society will not (save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Society, its Servants or Agents) be responsible for person injury (whether fatal or otherwise), loss of or damage to property and any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused. 26. CYRRAEDD A GADAEL ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Arrival and departure of all exhibits is referred to at the commencement of the Schedule, and these times will be strictly adhered to, any defaulters will be listed and entry refused the following year and any prize money withheld. 27. SYMUD ANIFEILIAID O FAES Y SIOE WITHDRAWAL OF ANIMALS FROM THE SHOWGROUND No animal can be removed from its place without recommendation from the Chief Sectional Steward or Society's Veterinary Officer nor can any animal be taken out of the Showground without a written permit from the Assistant Chief Executive. 28. PŴER I SYMUD ANIFEILIAID YMAITH POWER TO REMOVE ANIMALS The Stewards, on the recommendation of the Society's Veterinary Officers shall have the power to remove from the Showground any unruly, vicious, deformed or diseased animals, and also the stock implements, or miscellaneous articles belonging to any exhibitor who refuses to comply with the instructions given by the Stewards without any responsibility attaching to them or to the Society in consequence of such removal. 29. TRINIAETH FILFEDDYGOL FRYS EMERGENCY VETERINARY TREATMENT In the event that an exhibitor cannot be found at any time and his/her animal(s) have been found to be sick, the Society's Veterinary Officers may, on their own authority, give to any animal such emergency treatment at the cost of the exhibitor as they consider appropriate even if the exhibitor is not present at the time. Stewards may remove any animal to an isolation box if it is necessary. This is a condition of entry. In the event of an animal dying or having to be destroyed, any costs incurred for its disposal will be paid at the discretion of the Society. 30. PORTHIANT FODDER Exhibitors are required to provide their own supplies of hay, concentrates or other feeding stuffs, which they may need. All necessary troughs, etc, must be brought with the feed stuffs. 31. GWAIR A GWELLT HAY AND STRAW Any hay or straw remaining on the Showground after 6.00 pm on the final day of the Winter Fair, whether supplied by the Society or brought there by the exhibitor, shall be considered the property of the Society. Sufficient straw only for litter for the conveyances carrying stock from the Winter Fair will be allowed to be taken from the Showground. No hay will be available on the showground. 32. DIM YSMYGU NO SMOKING No smoking will be allowed in or near the stock buildings, lines, tents, shedding for exhibits or forage in the Showground. No smoking will be allowed by judges, exhibitors or stewards whilst in the judging rings. 40

42 33. FFON SYMUDOL MOBILE PHONES The use of mobile phones whilst in any of the judging rings will not be tolerated. Any exhibitor caught using their mobile phone in the ring will automatically be disqualified from judging and may be barred from showing for a period deemed appropriate by the Society. 34. COGINIO A CHYSGU COOKING AND SLEEPING No cooking or sleeping will be allowed in the stock lines. 35. LLETY R STOCMYN - NEUADD HENLLAN STOCKMENS ACCOMMODATION Neuadd Henllan will be available for use by cattle, sheep and pig exhibitors at the Winter Fair. Each room has either two or four beds. Bed and breakfast may be reserved for a fee of (including VAT) for the duration of the Winter Fair (Sunday, 30 November Monday, 1 December). The fee is payable at the time of entry and requests will be dealt with in date of receipt order. Beds will be limited to a maximum of two per exhibitor. The number of beds available is limited to 65. These will be allocated as follows:- Pigs - 5 beds. Cattle - 30 beds. Sheep - 30 beds. Linen, duvets and pillows will be provided. The facilities in the block are for Residents ONLY. If the facilities are abused or if more persons are sleeping in the room than allowed the managers will consider a ban. Residents should also ensure that they remove any dirty footwear before they enter the building, failure to comply with this rule may result in exhibitors being banned from using the facility in future. 36. BEICIAU, BEICIAU MODUR A BEICIAU PEDAIR OLWYN BIKES, MOTORBIKES AND ATV'S No bikes, motorbikes or ATV's of any kind may be taken onto the Showground except by prior arrangement in writing. 37. CŴN DOGS Exhibitors are not encouraged to bring dogs onto the Showground, but if it is essential to do so then the dog must be kept on a lead at all times. Stray dogs are a serious danger to persons and animals. Exhibitors please note that NO dogs are allowed in any of the buildings containing Livestock, Poultry, Food Hall or any of the Society's Dining Halls. 38. PLACARDIAU PLACARDS No person shall be allowed to fix any placard in the Showground, or distribute handbills, circulars, etc., except at their own stands, without the written permission of the Secretary. No person shall be allowed to take down or cover up any official placard or notice. 39. ANNIFYRRWCH ANNOYANCE No exhibitor shall be allowed to shout or make undue noise in calling attention to his/her exhibit so as to be a source of annoyance to other exhibitors. 40. OTHER EXHIBITORS' ANIMALS If an exhibitor is found tampering in any way with a fellow exhibitor s animal, the Society will direct its Disciplinary Panel to review the matter; if substantiated the individual(s) involved may be barred for a period the Panel deems appropriate. Exhibitors should also be aware that under no circumstances can medicines be administered to another exhibitor s animal. If an exhibitor is concerned over the welfare of another persons stock, please inform a steward. 41. BEIRNIADU JUDGING The Judges will consider the symmetry, early maturity, size and general qualities of exhibits. It is not necessary for a Judge to place all the exhibits in a large class or to place exhibits, which in his/her opinion have insufficient merit. 42. DIRPRWY FEIRNIAID SUBSTITUTE JUDGES Should a Judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Board of Directors reserve, to themselves, the right to appoint a substitute. The Assistant Honorary Director of the Section would appoint a substitute judge on behalf of the Board of Directors where necessary. 41

APWYNTIO DYFARNWR APPOINTMENT OF AN UMPIRE In case of a difference of opinion between the Judges respecting the award of any prize on the Showground, a Committee of not less than five members of the Board of Directors shall be immediately summoned by the Assistant Chief Executive and an umpire appointed by it, whose decision shall be final. In the event of any Judge leaving before the class of stock, which he or she is judging, is completed, the appointment of his or her successor shall also be made in the same way. The same procedure shall be adopted when it is found necessary to appoint a referee Judge. The Assistant Honorary Director of the Section would act on behalf of the Board of Directors where necessary. 44. GORYMDAITH ANIFEILIAID I W BEIRNIADU PARADE OF ANIMALS FOR JUDGING Cattle must be paraded and exhibited in the rings with their number affixed to the head and neck, for inspection during the Winter Fair as directed by the Stewards. Smoking by persons in charge of stock during judging or on parade is prohibited. Whilst judging or parading all persons in charge of stock must wear white coats. While judging of a class is in progress, no animal competing therein shall be permitted to wear any Prize Card or Rosette (except in a Championship) which may have been awarded to it previously. At no time for the purpose of Judging, Parading or Selling will any form of Sedation be allowed. Any unruly animal will be removed from the Showground. 45. GWOBRWYO YN ÔL HAEDDIANT AWARD ON MERIT The Judges will be instructed to withhold any prize if they are of the opinion that there is not sufficient merit in any of the stock exhibited for such prize to justify an award. 46. CIL-WOBRAU RESERVE AWARDS The Judges will give a reserve award in each class to the exhibit which would in their opinion, possess sufficient merit for a prize, in case an animal to which a prize has been awarded should be subsequently disqualified. They will specially report equality of merit to the representative of the Board of Directors, who will in such event, decide the award. They will also report the animals, which deserve to be specially commended, and then sign and deliver their reports through the Stewards to the Awards Office. 47. GORCHMYNION Y STIWARDIAID ORDER OF THE STEWARDS Any owner or attendant in charge of stock will be subject to the orders of the Stewards and will be required to exhibit or parade the animals in his/her charge at such times as may be directed and any owner or servants disobeying such orders by indiscipline or using abusive or offensive language will be liable to be fined and/or removed from the Showground at the option of the Board of Directors. Persons in charge of animals shall be in attendance throughout the day and shall have such animals ready at least a quarter of an hour before the time appointed for exhibiting the animals for judging or parading. 48. CYFRIFOLDEBAU R STIWARDIAID RESPONSIBILITIES OF STEWARDS Stewards are strictly not permitted to steward any class in which they have either made an entry or have an interest in an entry in the class concerned. The Stewards will attend on each sectional Judge. It will be their duty to see that no obstruction is offered to them, and that the space reserved for them is not encroached on; that the proper animals entered in the Official Catalogue are presented before the Judge; to communicate to the Assistant Chief Executive any questions that may arise for the consideration of the Board of Directors; to complete the Judges reports; to give Prize Cards and Rosettes to the prize animals. In the cattle classes it is their duty to satisfy themselves as to the identity of all cattle presented for judging either by checking earmarks with those printed in the Official Catalogue or if the earmark is incorrect or illegible and other satisfactory means of identification is not available, the animal shall be excluded from the Judging Ring, by order of the Assistant Honorary Director. All judging books must be fully and correctly completed, including a list of absent exhibits, and be returned to the Awards Office. In addition the perforated judging slips must be removed from the judging book and taken to the Awards Office IMMEDIATELY after a class has been judged. The Board of Directors delegates full power to the Stewards to enforce the carrying out of the Rules & Regulations relating to Livestock and other exhibits at the Winter Fair. The Stewards are required to report to the Secretary the NAMES OF EXHIBITORS with the Catalogue numbers of EXHIBITS ABSENT. 42

44 49. YMWRTHODIAD AG ATEBOLRWYDD DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY In this clause the term 'Exhibitor' shall include persons taking part in any competition or display arranged by the Society, and the owner of any animal, plant, machinery or other thing involved in any such competition or display or otherwise exhibited on the Showground. Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Society, its Servants or Agents, the Society will not be responsible for death, injury, disease, damage or loss caused to any exhibitor or to his Servant or Agent or to any animal, article, plant, machinery or thing of whatever nature brought onto the Showground by the said exhibitor from whatever cause, death, injury, disease, damage or loss arises. Saves as aforesaid the exhibitor shall indemnify the Society against all claims, damages and expenses whatsoever in any way arising out of the presence of the exhibitor, his or her Servants, Agents, exhibits, vehicles or equipment on the Showground and shall assume full responsibility therefore. Acceptance of the foregoing provisions shall be a condition of entry. As a condition of entry to the Winter Fair all livestock exhibitors must have a valid certificate of Public and Products Liability Insurance. Exhibitors are also advised to insure against fire and any other appropriate risk. 50. RHEOLIADAU YN YMWNEUD Â DA BYW AC ARDDANGOSION YN CYSTADLU YN Y FFAIR AEAF. REGULATIONS RELATING TO LIVESTOCK AND EXHIBITS ENTERED IN THE WINTER FAIR The Society, its Officers or Servants shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society's premises, or while entering or leaving the same, for any damage or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to any such person. The Society, its Officers, or Servants, shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused, that may occur to any exhibitor or his or her Servant, or to any animal, article or property brought into the Showground, or while entering or leaving or being carried into or out of the said Showground. Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may be done to or occasioned by, or arising from any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought onto the Showground by him or her, he or she shall indemnify and hold harmless the Society from and against all actions, suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury which may be caused or occasioned. It is, therefore, recommended that exhibitors insure against fire and such liabilities as the exhibitor may incur under these regulations. The Society, its Officers and Servants will not be liable for any errors or mistakes that may happen in placing or penning the stock or articles to be exhibited, but the Servants in charge of the same must see that they are placed according to their entries. All livestock entered within the Society's classification MUST be housed in the appropriate lines and NOT on a Tradestand. 51. RHEOLIADAU ARBENNIG YN YMWNEUD Â GWARTHEG SPECIAL REGULATIONS RELATING TO CATTLE a) The identification of all entries will be checked by the Stewards on behalf of the Assistant Honorary Director before they are allowed to parade before the Judge. b) Any artificial contrivance or device of any description found on or proved to have been used on an animal at any time whilst that animal is on the Showground, for any improper purpose, will disqualify that animal from being awarded a prize, and the owner of the said animal may be prohibited from again entering stock for any of the Society's events for such a period as the Board of Directors may see fit. For the purpose of this regulation, the term 'improper practice' shall be held to include any practice which results in the animal being shown other than in a natural state and the Society reserves the right to have all animals inspected by the Veterinary Officer either prior to, during, or after judging. 52. RHEOLIADAU ARBENNIG YN YMWNEUD Â DEFAID SPECIAL REGULATIONS RELATING TO SHEEP a) None of the sheep exhibited are to have been artificially coloured. All preparations must be used to manufacturers' directions. b) Exhibitors must ensure that they comply with the requirements of national legislation in force at the time of the Winter Fair. c) Sheep judging will normally take place in two rings. Where an exhibitor has sheep to be judged in both rings at the same time, the onus is on that exhibitor to arrange for someone else to show those exhibits he or she cannot show him or herself. Under no circumstances will judging be delayed. The Society reserves the right to restrict the number of entries per exhibitor in the event of oversubscription. 43

CYNFFONNAU CWTA SHORT TAILS Exhibitors should take note that exhibits born in the United Kingdom must comply with the Welfare of Livestock (Prohibited Operation) Regulation 1982 Short Tail Docking of Sheep. RHEOLIADAU ARBENNIG YN YMWNEUD Â MOCH SPECIAL REGULATIONS RELATING TO PIGS a) Any pig, found to be artificially coloured, either at the time of judging or afterwards, will be disqualified, the use of artificial whitening and/or powder on white pigs is prohibited and will lead to disqualification. b) The prizes in the pig classes are offered subject to any orders of the Welsh Government (AHVLA) or of the Local Authority. No pigs from a "Swine Infected Area" can be admitted for exhibition. 55. RHEOLIADAU ARBENNIG YN YMWNEUD Â CHEFFYLAU SPECIAL REGULATIONS RELATING TO HORSES FFLIW CEFFYLAU EQUINE INFLUENZA The owners of all equines other than foals under six months old, taking part in the Winter Fair are advised and encouraged to have all entries properly vaccinated against Equine Influenza. There will, however, be no compulsion to vaccinate. An effective system of vaccination consists of two primary doses of vaccine at an interval of not less than 30 days or not more than 90 days. Where this has been done in a previous year subsequent vaccination should be carried out at intervals of not more than 12 months. The Society will not hold itself responsible for any problem that may develop subsequent to bringing an unvaccinated equine to the Winter Fair. 56. DEFNYDDIO OFFER TRYDANOL USE OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT Electrical equipment used by exhibitors on the Showground must carry valid evidence of testing, ie date of test and who carried out the test. Socket outlets must not be overloaded; extension leads must not be used indiscriminately. Steam/Water Pressure Cleaners should be used with a circulating current earth monitoring device or a residual current device (RCD) (sometimes called an ELCB). These devices should be fitted at the mains supply point, where they should be protected from splash by a waterproof cover. All Cattle weights will be rounded down to the nearest five kilos at the time of weighing for the sale. BATHODYNNAU ARWERTHU SALE BADGES Attention is called to the fact that a buyer's badge is required for all sales and buyers must register a number with the Auctioneers office before the sales. The centre section of seats opposite the Auctioneers' rostrum is reserved for buyers. No person will be allowed into the sale rings for the sales without an appropriate badge. Prospective buyers are asked to restrict the number of badges to a maximum of TWO. Buyers are requested to wear the lapel badge for easy identification at the Sale. These regulations have been brought into force in order to ensure that only those interested in buying animals shall be admitted to the Rings. AMODAU ARWERTHU CONDITIONS OF SALE 1. The highest bidder to be purchaser; if any dispute arises, the Auctioneers may determine the dispute at their discretion and their decision shall be final. The Auctioneers reserve the right to refuse the bid of any person, without being called upon to give a reason for such action. 2. In the case of any lot upon which there is a reserve, the Auctioneers shall have the right to bid on behalf of the vendor up to the reserve price, which must be handed to the Auctioneers not later than one hour before the start of the particular sale, failing which, the lot will be sold to the highest bidder. 3. Each purchaser to give his or her name and dwelling place and, if required, to pay the full amount of the purchase at the fall of the hammer, in default the lot may be put up again and re-sold. The right of property shall not pass until the price is paid. 4. The Supreme Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion and all entries in the Baby Beef Section will be sold in the lump. 5. The bidding to be regulated at the discretion of the Auctioneers. The undermentioned Regulations will apply: a) That all the Supreme Champion Beasts and Reserve Supreme Champion Beasts, Supreme Champion Pen of Sheep and Reserve Supreme Champion Pen of Sheep, Supreme Champion Lamb Carcass and Reserve Supreme Champion Lamb Carcass, Supreme Champion Pair of Lamb Carcasses and Reserve Supreme Champion Pair of Lamb Carcasses, Supreme Champion Pair of Pigs and Reserve Supreme Champion Pair of Pigs, Supreme Champion Single Pig and Reserve Supreme Champion Single Pig MUST be offered for sale at the official Auction Sales held during the Show. The Champions and Reserves of Specials 45, 56 and 57 in the cattle section MUST be offered for sale at the official Auction Sales held during the Show, otherwise the prize money will be withheld. All section winners in the lamb carcass competitions must be offered for sale otherwise the prize money will be withheld. All class winners in the Sheep Section must be offered for sale, otherwise the prize money will be withheld. b) The exhibitor shall be permitted to place a reserve on the undermentioned animals only, up to the following maximum figures:- Supreme Champion Beast 2,700 Reserve Champion Beast 2,500 Supreme Champion Pen of Sheep 200 per head Supreme Champion Pair of Pigs 200 per head Supreme Champion Single Pig 200 These reserve prices may be varied by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society prior to the Auction Sales. 46

48 c) For animals, other than those listed in paragraph (b) above, exhibitors are permitted to place a reserve on their exhibit (s), but if the animal is not sold, a 4% commission will be charged based on the reserve price given by the vendor, which must have been intimated to the Auctioneers prior to the sale. d) Once an animal has reached its reserve, a sale will be deemed to have taken place and commission will be payable. e) The Supreme Champion Pen of Sheep and the Reserve Champion Pen of Sheep shall be sold as pens of two and not individually. f) The Supreme Champion Pair of Pigs and the Reserve Supreme Champion Pair of Pigs shall be sold individually g) The Supreme Champion Single Pig and Reserve Supreme Champion Single Pig shall be sold individually. h) Carcasses below 3 rd place will only be sold if requested by the exhibitor concerned. i) With regard to the sale of all animals, a Commission of 3.5% will be charged on all Sales. Any exhibitor wishing to sell any entry marked in the Official Catalogue as 'Not for Sale' may do so, provided the Auctioneers are notified not later than one hour before the Sale commences. A list of amendments will be displayed by the Auctioneers one hour before the Sale commences. 6. The vendor shall be entitled to receive the purchase money of each lot, less commission at the rate of 3.5% within twelve days of the Show. 7. Should any question arise not provided for in the above Conditions of Sale, the decision of the Auctioneers/Society shall be final. If these Conditions are not fulfilled by any purchaser, the vendor or his/her Agent shall have powers to re-sell the lot, retaining any surplus and charge in any deficiency to the defaulter. RHEOLIADAU ARWERTHU GWARTHEG A DEFAID A MOCH BYW REGULATIONS FOR SALE OF LIVE CATTLE AND SHEEP AND PIGS 8. Cattle and pigs will be sold singly, sheep in pens of two. Only animals forward for judging in their respective sections are eligible to be sold. 9. Each lot must remain in the Show, in charge and at the risk of the exhibitor until 6.00 pm (unless removed by the purchaser) or if sold until the fall of the hammer, Tuesday, 2 December. No stock can be removed from the showground until the correct authorised documentation is completed. 10. Admittance to the Cattle, Sheep and Pig Auction Rings will be by buyers badge only. Buyers must register a number with the Auctioneers Office before the sales. 11. Prize Cards and Rosettes (if any) must be collected from the Awards Office. Duplicate sets of prize cards and rosettes for the buyers will not be available for exhibits below 3 rd place. Exhibitors who request the Auctioneer to refer to awards at the recent English Winter Fair must give the buyer the appropriate Prize Card or Rosette. 12. Buyers are informed that should they require transport for animals purchased by them they may apply for such transport to road haulage representatives at the time of sale. A list of transport firms will be displayed at the Auctioneers' Office. The cost of transport must be borne by the purchaser. Buyers may also make their own arrangements for transport of the animals purchased by them, but they are informed that the removal of such animals from the Showground must take place between 4.00 pm and 8.00 pm sheep and pigs, and 4.30 pm and 8.00 pm cattle, on Tuesday, 2 December, by which time all stock must be removed from the buildings. When lorries arrive for collection of stock, they must have their gates in position and be straw- 47

49 bedded. Lorries should be clean and of adequate size. Buyers are reminded that they must make their own arrangements for the slaughter of animals bought by them for slaughter. 13. While the Society will take every possible step to ensure the security of the animals up to 8.00 pm Tuesday, 2 December, neither the Society nor the Auctioneers shall be liable for any loss or damage to the animals which remain at the Fair. Animals remaining on the Showground after 8.00 pm, 2 December do so at the risk of the owner concerned. Buyers are advised to insure their purchases after the fall of the hammer. 14. Cattle Halters. All exhibitors must leave their exhibits sold at auction, secured by means of a suitable halter tied to the stall ready for the buyer to collect. RHEOLIADAU ARWERTHU CARCAS REGULATIONS REGARDING SALE OF CARCASSES 15. Lamb Carcasses will be sold singly by Auction at the Show. Carcasses entered in the Pairs Competition will be sold in their pairs. Carcasses below 3 rd place will only be sold if requested by the exhibitor concerned. 16. Anyone wishing to purchase carcasses privately should contact the Auctioneers as soon as possible to place their order, stating the number and type of carcasses required. 17. All carcasses will be sold at the weights rendered by the Society the day after slaughter. Buyers must therefore, estimate the shrinkage in weight between then and the close of the Fair. 18. Carcasses will be sold in pence per kilo. 19. The carcass classification will be displayed during the Fair. 20. The lot must remain in the Fair in charge and at the risk of the exhibitor until 3.30 pm Tuesday, 2 December. 21. Admittance to the Carcass Sale will be by buyers badge only. Buyers are asked to register a number with the auctioneers office before the sales. 22. Whilst the Society will take every possible step to ensure the security of the carcasses up to 3.30 pm on the Fair day, neither the Society nor the Auctioneers shall be liable for any loss or damage which the carcass may sustain at the Fair. 23. All carcasses must be removed from the Showground between the hours of 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm on Tuesday, 2 December. Carcasses may not be removed until the signed removal permit/pass out is handed to the Steward in charge. Prompt production of their permit will save time for all concerned. Any carcasses not removed by 6.00 pm will be dealt with as deemed to be fit by the Society. 24. Carcasses will be placed in stockinette for protection during transit to the destination. 25. Prize Cards and Rosettes for the carcasses must be collected from the Awards Office at the time of sale. Duplicate sets of prize cards and rosettes for the Buyers will not be available for exhibits below 3 rd place. 48
