Pandeia App. R King stated her saddle shifted back at the start, placing her at a disadvantage throughout the race. RACE 1: TAB Highway Handicap 1800m Time To Rock slow to begin. Shortly after the start shifted out away from the heels of Cliff and made contact with Morning Music. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Morning Music slow to begin. Lady Guissel began awkwardly. For some distance leaving the 300m was hampered when So It Is (App. B McDougall) shifted out, taking that runner wider. In this incident A Adkins, rider of Lady Guissel, was restricted in his whip use due to racing tight with So It Is. App. McDougall was advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion. Not Bossy on straightening became awkwardly placed on the heels of Time To Rock and then shifted to the outside of that runner to improve. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. So It is inclined to lay in when under pressure in the straight. Near the 350m, when being shifted to the outside of Royal Villa to improve, made contact with Lady Guissel on two occasions, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. Cliff over the concluding stages was inclined to lay in and proved difficult to ride out.

2 2 RACE 2: The Luxury Network Pierro Plate 1100m Tchaikovsky slow to begin. Rider G Schofield stated that the colt jumped a little awkwardly, but was able to take up a position behind the leaders in the early stages. He said that nearing the 600m his mount was reluctant to hold its position when racing tight to the inside of Santos, but then in the straight was provided with clear racing room and did not finish off as well as had been expected. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Santos began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Toulouse. Stunts from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Perfect Pitch from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Legend Of Condor when questioned regarding the performance, rider J Parr stated that the colt raced keenly in the early stages. He said linking up with the course proper near the 800m his mount was inclined when racing greenly to shift out, but was able to then take up a position on the rail nearing the 700m. J Parr advised that Legend Of Condor had worked well leading into the race and in particular in a testing gallop on Tuesday, 13 February He added, whilst he felt this work had the colt adequately conditioned for today's race, he was of the firm view it would derive fitness benefit from today's performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr G Ryan undertook to report back on the post-race condition of Legend Of Condor. RACE 3: Fairfax & Roberts Jewellers Handicap 2000m Zourkhan began awkwardly. From its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Under pressure in the straight was inclined to lay in. Ready For Success slow to begin. Rider A Adkins stated that he intended to be more forward on the gelding, but it failed to muster sufficient speed to be able to take up a more forward position. He said when the tempo in the middle stages eased his mount commenced to pull and was steadied from heels near the 1000m. He added that when the tempo increased from the 600m Ready For Success came under pressure and found it difficult to make up ground. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr D Payne was asked to report back on the post-race condition of the gelding. El Novio from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Sizzling Bullet approaching the 300m became unbalanced when bumped by Emporer's Way, which shifted out. The Bandit when questioned regarding the gelding racing in a more forward position, rider B Spriggs stated his instruction was to find cover on the gelding. He said, after commencing well, when it was apparent he was not going to be able to obtain cover, he allowed his mount to stride forward and take up a position outside the lead so as to avoid covering additional ground. He added that from the 600m The Bandit commenced to hang out and he was not entirely comfortable with its action in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not

3 3 reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Thompson was asked to provide a veterinary clearance for The Bandit prior to its next race start. Emperor's Way Stewards opened an inquiry into G Schofield's riding of the gelding in the early part of the straight in respect to a decision he made to shift to the outside of The Bandit. After taking evidence from rider G Schofield and co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden, the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed. RACE 4: ACJC Southern Cross Stakes (Group 3) 1200m Oxford Poet Stewards permitted T Clark to ride the gelding ½ kilogram over its declared weight. Clearly Innocent slow to begin. J Parr (Dothraki) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) in that leaving the 300m he improved to the inside of Oxford Poet where there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in Big Money being taken in across the running of Clearly Innocent, which had to be checked. J Parr's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday, 21 February 2018 and to expire on Saturday, 3 March 2018, on which day he may ride. Clearly Innocent was then required to shift to the extreme outside from the 250m, whereby it was able to finish the race off well. Big Money slow to begin. Kaepernick raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Boss Lane inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and near the 200m was inconvenienced when crowded between Kaepernick and Deploy, which was taken out slightly by Oxford Poet. Boss Lane continued to lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride out. Duca Valentinois held up for clear running from the 200m and was unable to be fully tested until shifting to the inside of Oxford Poet near the 150m. Again over the concluding stages Duca Valentinois could not be ridden out to the finish when awkwardly placed inside Dothraki. Deploy rider T Angland stated that his mount, although commenced well, did not travel strongly in the early stages and for this reason he allowed Oxford Poet to cross. He said, after then shifting to the outside of Oxford Poet, he commenced to place his mount under pressure on the turn, but it was very disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be tying up and displaying a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Mr G Ryan advised that Deploy had pleased the stable this preparation and was expected to race well. He said the gelding had pleased him in its trial on 5 February 2018, albeit it was ridden out by T Angland in the trial. Mr Ryan was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance and Deploy would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being permitted to race again. RACE 5: Derucci Handicap 1600m Berdibek slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance, rider B Avdulla stated his mount travelled reasonably well in the event, albeit was inclined to race keenly. He said approaching the home turn, when Malaise commenced to shift out, he elected to allow that runner to improve with a view to following it into the event. He added, after briefly responding to his riding in the early part of the straight, he felt the condition of the gelding ran

4 4 out, particularly in circumstances where it was inclined to race keenly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Quick Defence shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarter by King Darci, which shifted out slightly. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer Mr C Waller stated that at the gelding's last start when second up on 3 February 2018 it was slow to recover on that occasion, as instanced in the Stewards' report. He said today Quick Defence, which has a very good third up record, was suited by the strong early tempo, which enabled the gelding to finish the race off. The Getaway after improving to the inside of Malaise in the early stages, had to be steadied near the 1000m when Malaise (G Schofield) shifted in. G Schofield was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Prometheus in the early part of the straight was held up when awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Tahsin. Prometheus was then shifted to the outside of that runner near the 300m to obtain clear running and was then inclined to lay in under pressure. The Pinnacle near the 150m was briefly inconvenienced when taken in by Malaise, which laid in under pressure. RACE 6: The Star Apollo Stakes (Group 2) 1400m Comin' Through from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Stampede rider J Parr stated that his mount took up a forward position outside the leader Global Glamour in what was a fast run event and then in the straight in his opinion its condition gave out due to the horse being first up. He said in his view Stampede would derive fitness benefit from today's performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 7: Robrick Lodge Triscay Stakes (Group 3) 1200m Raiment Stewards permitted G Schofield to ride the mare ½ kilogram over its declared weight. Held up for clear running until near the 200m. Faraway Town Stewards permitted T Clark to ride the mare ½ kilogram over its declared weight. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Hermosa Beach trainer Mr M Dale was fined $150 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of J Taylor as the rider of the mare. From its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. After shifting to the inside of My Country leaving the 200m was then inconvenienced and unable to be fully tested when racing tight to the inside of that runner, which shifted in and away from Miss Gunpowder. Aide Memoire became restless after being boxed, lunged forward and made contact with the front gate. The mare was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m was steadied and had to be checked to avoid the heels of My Country. Rider T Angland reported that his mount raced keen in the run, but was a little disappointing in its finishing effort. He said that the mare

5 5 would be better suited on a track with more give in it. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Mariquita slow to begin. Approaching the 700m was steadied from the heels of Aide Memoire. Near the 150m had to be steadied away from the heels of Anna's Joy when that runner commenced to give ground. Mariquita then was badly held up on the heels of that runner for some distance until near the 75m. Duchess Pedrille from its wide barrier was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 800m was inconvenienced when steadied from the heels of Mariquita. Zestful near the 800m was steadied to avoid the heels of Eckstein when that runner was taken out slightly by Raiment. Eckstein overraced in the middle stages. Just Dreaming raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Anna's Joy a post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an obstruction in the oesophagus and was transported to Randwick Equine Centre for further treatment. Trainer P Niceforo was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Anna's Joy racing again. RACE 8: TAB Light Fingers Takes (Group 2) 1200m Yulong Xingsheng slow to begin. When commencing to give ground near the 300m was inconvenienced when Alizee shifted to the inside of From Within to secure clear running. Sasso Corbaro after beginning awkwardly, was then bumped heavily by Kanag's Eye, which shifted out. As a result Sasso Corbaro had to be steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Torvill. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Torvill soon after the start was steadied to avoid the heels of Melody Belle (R Hutchings), which shifted in on an acute angle. R Hutchings was advised to exercise more care. For some distance from the 600m raced in restricted room to the inside of Melody Belle. Held up for clear running until approaching the 200m. Shumookh raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. RACE 9: Mostyn Copper Group Handicap 1200m Pick Me Up acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame in the near-foreleg, Stewards permitted the late withdrawal of it at 7.57am. Trainer Mr T Martin was asked to provide a veterinary clearance prior to Pick Me Up's next race start. Osborne Bulls after being loaded into the barriers, became restless, lunged forward and made heavy contact with the front gate. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and ruled unfit to start. The gelding declared a late withdrawal at 6.22pm acting on veterinary advice. The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Osborne Bulls be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 6.22pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket:

Generalissimo soon after the start was crowded between Difficult To Get and Star Of Monsoon, which shifted out. Near the 100m was inclined to lay in and shift in, resulting in rider T Angland having to stop riding, straightening and change his whip over to his right hand. No Interest when caught wide in the early stages was inclined to overrace as its rider App. R King endeavoured to obtain cover behind Suncraze. No Interest was then able to obtain cover near the 600m. Suncraze raced keenly in the early stages and near the 800m was steadied from the heels of Star Of Monsoon. Grande Punto shortly after straightening Star Of Monsoon shifted to the outside of Difficult To Get to obtain clear running. Soon after Difficult To Get shifted slightly, resulting in Suncraze being taken, and No Interest being hampered and taken wider and Grande Punto being inconvenienced. Mishani Honcho near the 100m was steadied to avoid the heels of Missile Coda, shifted in away from Generalissimo. Difficult To Get rider A Adkins stated that the mare overraced outside the lead and as a result was unable to finish the race off, particularly as it is somewhat suspect over 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination GENERAL: Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii). Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken. Race 1 J Collett (Fui San) 6 strikes prior to the 100m. Race 6 App. R King (Global Glamour) 8 strikes prior to the 100m. Race 8 J Collett (Frolic) 2 consecutive strikes prior to 100m. Race 9 App. R King (No Interest) 8 strikes prior to the 100m. Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Cliff, Fui San, Morning Music, Royal Villa. Race 2: Legend Of Condor, Stunts, Toulouse, Exceltic. Race 3: Sizzling Bullet, The Bandit, Zourkhan, More Energy, Almost Court (2). Race 4: Clearly Innocent, Deploy (2), Duca Valentinois, Big Money. Race 5: King Darci, Berdibek, Malaise, The Getaway, The Pinnacle. Race 6: Classic UIniform, Prized Icon, Endless Drama (2), Comin' Through, Global Glamour (2), Addictive Nature. Race 7: Aide Memoire, Zestful (2), Raiment. Race 8: Frolic, Melody Belle, Alizee (2), Torvill, Shumookh.
