Members will receive Instride Magazine plus all the rights and privileges of USHJA membership for that year. As a USHJA member, points accrued in Outreach classes will be sent to USHJA and Riders will qualify for USHJA zone year end awards. HHSA Year End Jumper Awards may be earned by qualified HHSA members. Both Horse, Horse Owner, and Rider must be 2017 members of HHSA and volunteer hours must be completed and all required show fees paid for the points to count. 5 Class Specifications FAULTS: 4 faults for each pole down 4 faults for each refusal Time faults (4 seconds equals 1 fault) EXCUSALS: Riders will be excused for 3 cumulative refusals. Riders will be excused for riding off course. Riders must be ready to ride in the posted order within a minute of being called. Ponies and horses may enter all divisions. Warm up class: 1, 5, 9,13, 18) The first class in each division will be set at the lowest height in the division. This round will not be timed. Competitors may enter more than once and horses may be ridden by more than one rider. Each rider and horse must complete an entry form and sign any necessary waivers. (No points or ribbons will be awarded for these warm up classes.) Description of Timed First Round with Jump Off HHSA/USHJA Outreach Classes: (2, 6, 10,14) Upon an audible signal, the rider will have 45 seconds to start the course. Rider will complete the course while being timed and if he/she is not eliminated and has no faults; they will leave the arena for the completion of the class. Once all riders have completed the first round, riders who have clean rounds will return for the jump off in the order of the best time to go last. Upon an audible signal, the rider will have 45 seconds to start the designated jump-off course. The rider with the fewest faults and fastest time will be the winner of the class. USHJA Outreach members can accumulate points for USHJA Outreach year end and members of HHSA can accrue points for HHSA year-end awards. Description of Power and Speed: (3,7,11,15) The power part of the course will be indicated on the course design posted (the first 4 or 5 jumps as indicated by the course designer). Upon an audible signal the rider will have 45 seconds to start the course. After the last power jump the clock starts for the remainder of the course. Time will stop after the horse and rider have crossed the finish line. The horse/rider combo with the least faults and fastest times wins, BUT if on the power phase of the course the rider incurs enough faults (rail down, refusals, etc.) to be eliminated, a whistle will sound after the power phase and the rider will be excused without being allowed to go onto the speed phase. If you hear no whistle you can continue to canter directly to the next fence because your time starts right away! Description of Take Your Own Line Competition: (4,8,12,16) Upon an audible signal, the rider will have 45 seconds to start the course. 1. This class is to be judged and scored the same as all other rounds, i.e., all knockdowns, refusals and other disobediences are to be scored according to the rules and regulations. The time is to be recorded. The rider with the fewest faults and fastest time will be the winner of the class. 2. In this competition, obstacles are to be jumped only once. Course designer will designate whether a jump may be taken in a specific direction or in either direction on the posted course. Any competitor who does not jump all the obstacles is eliminated. Combination obstacles are not allowed. 3. Competitors may cross the starting line and finish line in either direction. These lines are marked with two cones. Obstacles may be jumped in either direction, unless otherwise directed on the course plan. Jumps are not numbered, except for identification purposes for the judge. 4. This competition is to take place without a predetermined speed or time allowed, however f the competitor does not complete the course within 180 seconds after his/her round has started, he/she will be eliminated. 5. If there is a refusal or run-out with a knock-down or displacement of the obstacle, the competitor may only restart his/her round when the obstacle knocked down or displaced has been replaced and when the Judge gives him the signal to start. He may then jump the obstacle of his choice. In this case, 4 seconds for time correction will be added to the time of the run.
