Race 6: Pro-Ride Handicap 1000m Dongxing Princess co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden reported that, although the mare had jarred up and pulled up with some soreness across the back, for which it received chiropractic treatment, he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the mare. Mr Snowden indicated that it is the intention of the stable to add a tongue tie to the mare's gear for its next race start. Race 7: tab.com.au Handicap 1300m Involving co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden reported that, although the gelding jarred up on the firm surface, he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the mare. LATE RIDING CHANGES: As T Berry was overweight, Stewards permitted the following riding substitutions: Race 2 C Reith on Air Apparent. Race 6 K O'Hara on Dance Of Heroes. T Berry was fined the sum of $300 under AR120(b). As B Spriggs was indisposed, Stewards permitted the following riding substitutions: Race 3 K O'Hara on Hesco Gold. Race 7 M Bell on Lunar Rise. As B Avdulla was stood down after being injured in the barriers in Race 2, Stewards permitted the following riding substitutions: Race 4 R Hutchings on Montauk. Race 5 J Ford on Supreme Effort. Race 6 J Ford on New Tipperary. Race 7 J Victoire on Duca Valentinois.

2 Race 8 2 K O'Hara on Quick Defence. RACE 1: Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap 1200m Flash Fibian slow to begin. Briefly held up in the early part of the straight. Mega Mall shortly after the start was hampered when crowded between Gibraltar Girl and Baltic Whisper, which shifted out. Overraced in the early stages and when being crossed by Lubiton near the 1000m had to be steadied. Then continued to overrace in the middle stages. Phuket inside the 100m, after being crossed by Gibraltar Girl, was then inclined to lay out and as a consequence over the concluding stages was not tested to the line. Palladian rider T Berry stated, after his mount commenced well, he elected to go forward, but had to make some use of his mount to cross Mega Mall in the early stages when that runner held its position to his inside. He added that the colt travelled well outside the leader, Lubiton, but failed to respond to his riding in the straight and in his opinion is more adept on a surface with more give. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities other than the colt had lost its near-fore plate. RACE 2: Promaster Protection Handicap 1400m Dagny after arriving behind the barriers, rider K McEvoy expressed some concern in respect to the way in which the mare worked after leaving the enclosure. After consulting with K McEvoy the Official Veterinarian examined Dagny and passed it fit to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near-side leg. Trainer Mr C Waller was advised a veterinary clearance would be required for Dagny prior to its next race start. Cottage after being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, reared, went down behind and was cast for some time. Dagny, which was in the adjoining stall, was struck on the left rump and kicked by Cottage, which was down in the stall, on several occasions. Acting on veterinary advice, both runners were withdrawn at 1.22pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Cottage and Dagny be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 1.22pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Girl Sunday 48ȼ win and 37ȼ place 2nd) Dixie Chick less 29ȼ place 3rd) Firebird Flyer less 43ȼ place In the incident B Avdulla suffered an injury to his right knee and was stood down from riding for the remainder of the day. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near-side knee and chest. Trainer Mr J O'Shea was advised a veterinary clearance would be required for Cottage prior to the mare trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Air Apparent slow to begin. Zelda soon after the start was hampered when bumped by Maraam (R Hutchings), which shifted in away from Girl Sunday, which crossed to the lead. Stewards were satisfied R Hutchings had endeavoured to straighten his mount. Zelda was then inclined to overrace when caught wide without cover in the early stages and then raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event.

3 3 Blendwell inclined to lay out under pressure over the final 200m. Maraam rider R Hutchings stated his mount failed to travel throughout the event and was under pressure from as far out as the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden advised Maraam would be spelled. RACE 3: TAB Highway Handicap 1100m Rhomlo after confirming the advice that the gelding was lame in front when being loaded onto the float, Stewards permitted its withdrawal at 12.02pm. Trainer Mr N Olive will be interviewed relative to the late notification of the advice. Can't Skate began awkwardly. Brat Attack began awkwardly. Pomme Petite began awkwardly. Yours Mine Ours after the 700m was left racing wide without cover. Touch Sensitive after improving to the inside of Oakfield Time (App. A Adkins) making the home turn had to be steadied when crowded by Oakfield Time when that runner shifted in. App. Adkins was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to react sooner than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Hesco Gold after being held up in the early part of the straight approaching the 250m, had to be checked when crowded for room between Akasaki and Yours Mine Ours. Snappy One held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and shifted out approaching the 200m to the outside of Hesco Gold to obtain clear running. Thelittleracketeer held up for clear running for some distance approaching the 200m and inside the 200m improved into a narrow run between Brat Attack and Oakfield Time, which shifted out slightly. Akasaki raced wide throughout. Brat Attack over the concluding stages had to be steadied when crowded between Yours Mine Ours and Can't Skate (App. J Innes Jr), which shifted out away from Oakfield Time. App. J Innes Jr was reprimanded and advised he must make more effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference. Madam Fran rider A Hyeronimus stated that the mare got a comfortable run throughout the event and, after blundering near the 350m, was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Shelton advised the mare would now be spelled. Somebody rider T Clark stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and in his view may not have appreciated today's Good (3) surface. Trainer's representative Mr Ryan stated that Somebody had pleased the stable since its last start win at Dubbo on 29 October 2016, but

4 4 due to today's predicted firm surface the stable had elected to apply concussion plates to the mare. Mr Ryan agreed with the assessment of T Clark in that Somebody had not appreciated today's track conditions. Stewards ruled that Somebody must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to its next race start. Mr Ryan indicated it was the intention to freshen up the mare prior to resuming racing. RACE 4: Jaydub Electrical Handicap 2000m Last Try Wins slow to begin. Rider M Bell was reprimanded in respect to using the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of whip strikes in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the near-fore cannon and the gelding was found to be displaying thumps. The condition was brought to the attention of trainer Mr B Cavanough. Double Bluff slow to begin. Be Like Dad got its head up when being restrained while endeavouring to obtain cover and made the crossing awkwardly near the 1800m. Leaving the 1000m commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of Herne's Oak. Approaching the 400m Herne's Oak (App. D Panya) was then shifted to the outside of Mr Steal to find clear running and as a consequence Be Like Dad, which was commencing to improve to the outside of that runner, had to be steadied. App. Panya was advised to exercise care and asked to ensure she is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Rider T Angland stated that his mount settled further back in the field then he had anticipated after being shuffled back in the early stages, but in his view raced like it had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr D Payne advised Be Like Dad would be spelled. Montauk inclined to overrace in the early stages and near the 1600m had to be steadied when crowded between Double Bluff and Diamond Made, which shifted in slightly. Held up making the home turn. Double Bluff overraced throughout the middle stages of the event. App. A Adkins was reprimanded in respect to using the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of whip strikes in the straight. App. Adkins was also cautioned against the practice of using the whip on a horse that is not responding. Avroson leaving the 400m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Montauk. Herne's Oak - rounding the home turn Herne's Oak was held up on the heels of Mr Steal. Eschiele raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. On straightening Eschiele and Mr Steal made contact due to Eschiele being inclined to lay in. Eschiele laid in under pressure in the straight. Mr Steal approaching the 200m was inconvenienced when racing in restricted room between Not A Gypsy and Eschiele, which shifted ground. Multifacets when questioned, stable representative Mr C Duckworth stated the improved performance today was due to the gelding having a more favourable passage throughout the race, a senior rider being engaged today and having had the benefit of a last start run at the distance. He added today Multifacets was far better suited by being able to save ground

5 5 along the inside and a genuine tempo. Rider T Berry was reprimanded in respect to using the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m. Not A Gypsy rider K McEvoy was reprimanded in respect to using the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of whip strikes in the straight. RACE 5: ABA Automatic Entrance Specialists Handicap 1100m Le Cordon Bleu began awkwardly. Rider T Berry stated his mount commenced awkwardly and settled back in the field as he had anticipated. He added, after shifting to the outside of Painte soon after straightening, his mount briefly responded, but then over the final 350m failed to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying tachycardia. Co-trainer M Hawkes stated that the gelding had pleased the stable in the lead up to today's race and he was at a loss to explain the poor performance other than that the pattern of racing did not appear to favour horses racing back in the field. Mr Hawkes was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Le Cordon Bleu barrier trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Whiskey Allround shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarter by Echo Gal, which was taken out slightly by Le Cordon Bleu. Kuro overraced throughout the early and middle stages. Painte rider R Hutchings stated his mount travelled reasonably in the run, but after being placed under pressure in the early part of the straight did not finish the race off well, however he was not too disappointed with the performance. He added in his view Painte would appreciate a surface with more give in it. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 6: November Topaz 1900m Index Linked slow to begin (3L). Overraced in the early and middle stages. Magicool slow to begin. Malice began awkwardly. App. A Adkins stated he was instructed to ride his mount quiet due to it stepping up to 1900m when having its second run back from a spell. He said, in accordance with his instructions, he restrained his mount soon after the start and took up a position towards the rear of the field. Slow Pace began awkwardly. Rider J Victoire stated his mount travelled strongly in the run, but when asked to improve from the 800m his mount did not respond to his riding and gave ground noticeably in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr K Lees advised that he would discuss the immediate racing plans for the gelding with the connections and undertook to report back on the progress of Slow Pace in the days subsequent. Mr Lees was advised that Slow Pace must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next start. Destiny's Kiss laid in under pressure over the final 200m.

6 6 Beyond Thankful rider J Parr stated that on straightening he endeavoured to obtain clear running to the outside, but when too far up to the inside of the heels of Magicool he was unable to shift out. He said he then endeavoured to obtain clear running to the outside of Closing Bell, however when Closing Bell shifted out he was then obliged to shift back to the inside of that runner in order to secure clear running. J Parr added he was then held up on the heels of Hippopus and was unable to test his mount until near the 150m. When questioned as to why he did not continue to the inside of Hippopus, he stated that when placed close to the heels of that runner he did not observe the position to the inside of Hippopus and for this reason, as he was intent on getting to the outside, he then elected to shift to that runner's outside in order to secure clear running. He further stated, after viewing the Stewards' patrol films, he conceded that in the circumstances his best option would have been to continue to the inside of Hippopus to secure clear running. New Tipperary - Rider J Ford was reprimanded in respect to using the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of whip use and J Ford's good record. RACE 7: TAB November Handicap 1400m Pajaro slow to begin. Duca Valentinois slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight, before shifting to the inside of Pajaro near the 300m to obtain clear running. Berry Delicious approaching the 150m the mare, which was commencing to make ground, was held up for clear running between Ninth Legion and Foreign Prince, both of which were giving ground. Berry Delicious was then shifted to the outside of Ninth Legion to obtain clear running and in doing so shifted out and made contact with Foreign Prince, which became unbalanced. Foreign Prince made contact with Berry Delicious near the 150m and became unbalanced. Lunar Rise rider M Bell stated throughout the run his mount was inclined to change strides on a number of occasions and in his view did not appreciate today's Good (3) surface. A postrace veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Cummings agreed with the assessment of rider M Bell and further indicated that Lunar Rise was not suited by today's pattern of racing, where he was of the opinion it was difficult to make ground. Mr Cummings stated that the gelding had pleased since its win at Rosehill last week and as a consequence he elected to back it up today, although he was hoping for a track with some give in it. Mr Cummings indicated it was now his intention to freshen up Lunar Rise before its next race start. Stewards advised Mr Cummings the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next start. Ninth Legion when questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider T Clark stated, with the 62 kilograms it was required to carry, when the race was turned into a solid run event from the 600m when the leader, Religify increased the tempo, his mount could not quicken under its big weight and consequently gave ground in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr P Robl concurred with the view of T Clark and undertook to report back on the condition of Ninth Legion subsequent to the race.

7 7 Dances On Stars a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding lost its off-fore plate in running. RACE 8: Schweppes Handicap 1400m Nat King Cu the gelding was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 12.29pm, when it was found to have an abrasion and swelling over the off-side hip. Trainer Mr N Olive was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Nat King Cu racing again. Sir Plush trainer Mr B Baker was fined $100 under LR35. for the late notification of A Hyeronimus as the rider of the gelding. After beginning awkwardly, was bumped heavily by Metallic Crown, which shifted out abruptly. Near the 200m rider A Hyeronimus accidentally dropped his whip. Chestnut Road shortly after the start was hampered when crowded between Metallic Crown and More Than Fabulous, which shifted out. Steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Commission in the middle stages. Near the 900m was hampered when taken wider by More Than Fabulous. More Than Fabulous leaving the 1000m commenced to overrace and had to be checked away from the heels of Chestnut Road and was taken wider. Commission for some distance near the 800m commenced to overrace and was checked away from the heels of Well Hardley Ever. Choice We Had held up in the early part of the straight, before shifting to the inside of Intrepid Way to obtain clear running. Most Exalted held up for clear running in the early part of the straight, before securing a run between Choice We Had and Mon Pere approaching the 200m and finished the race off strongly. Metallic Crown App. L Magorrian stated his intention was to be more forward, but after striking interference at the start, he was obliged to race further back than anticipated. He said his mount enjoyed a comfortable run with cover in the race and under riding worked to the line fairly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer's representative Mr C Duckworth stated Metallic Crown was unsuited by racing further back today, particularly when in his opinion it was difficult to make up ground. He indicate that the gelding had pleased since its last start win and undertook to reporty back on its progress subsequent to the race. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of whip use and App. Magorrian's good record. RACE 9: Fugen Handicap 1200m Lycia slow to begin. Near the 800m made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of Sonic Swish. Sonic Swish slow to begin. From an outside barrier, was shifted in across behind runners in the early stages. Heartlings overraced badly throughout the early and middle stages and refused to settle.

8 8 Quantrill raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Sabino Speed raced wide throughout without cover. Coolcraft rider App. J Innes Jr stated his mount hung in in the straight and, although there was a minor shift out when Corsica Lad shifted out, taking Sonic Swish towards his mount, Coolcraft refused to respond to his efforts to shift to the outside of that runner and as a consequence had to be checked away from the heels of Sonic Swish. Salmanazar rider R Hutchings stated that his instructions were to endeavour to give the gelding clear racing room, but after being a little slow away, he was obliged to take up a position on the rails, where he travelled in the early and middle stages. He added making the home turn he was held up on the heels of Isorich and then could not be fully tested until near the 150m, however from this point was still somewhat disappointing. R Hutchings further stated that in his view Salmanazar would be better suited when it is able to obtain clear racing room and in addition felt the gelding would benefit in fitness from today's run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Salmanazar had sustained an injury to its off-hind leg. Trainer Mr T Gollan was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. Dark Steel - Rider T Berry was reprimanded in respect to using the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of whip strikes in the straight. Next Level rider M Bell stated it was his intention to ride his mount just behind the speed, but when the tempo was quick to his inside, he elected to come back and take up a position closer to the rail and consequently settled further back than he intended.
