2 Canterbury Park 2018 Racing Season Overview On behalf of Management I d like to welcome you to the 24 th racing season in Canterbury Park history. We re proud of what we have to offer horsemen and for those of you that have been with us before we look forward to seeing you again. If you are new and participating in our racing program for the first time it is truly our pleasure to have you with us. In June 2012 we signed a historic 10-year, $75 million purse enhancement agreement with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. Here are some of the recent highlights of this agreement:» In 2018 we anticipate paying over $15 million in purse money for the first time in our history! s such, we anticipate our verage Daily Purse distribution to surpass $215,000, a new record.» Total handle has soared. Since 2010, Canterbury Park handle is up over 85%. s a result of this growth, Canterbury Park s visibility is as high as ever.» Our on-track attendance is one of the strongest, youngest and most enthusiastic in the country. In 2017 we averaged more than 6,500 people per day and we have several new promotions that we plan to roll out in 2018 to further increase these numbers. In 2018, we look to improve upon changes made in 2017 with some new twists: Live racing will again begin on Kentucky Oaks Day - Friday, May 4. We hope that starting earlier and extending the meet by nearly a month continues to better fit the shipping schedules and racing needs of many Midwest horsepeople. dditionally, we are looking forward to opening the meet in style and with excitement as we will again host live racing on Kentucky Derby Day. Secondly, we are proud to offer a $150,0000 shipping bonus program in This program will attempt to improve upon the 2017 version by offering larger bonuses early in the meet and providing trainer incentives in addition to the owner incentives. More information on this program can be found on page 24. Lastly, in the fall of 2017, Canterbury Park management worked extensively with Michael Heuer at Braun Intertec to more precisely identify the racetrack composition used in the 1980s and 1990s. Mr. Heuer was extensively involved in the engineering of the main track under Joe King. Through this process, we have identified the precise nature of the material necessary to bring the track back to its original composition. Local material has been secured and will be added to the track by Ken Brown and his staff prior to the commencement of training in the Spring of If there is anything I can do to assist you, please don t hesitate to contact me. I very much look forward to Canterbury Park s 2018 Racing Season and I hope you do as well. ndrew Offerman Sr. Director of Racing Operations Canterbury Park aofferman@canterburypark.com (952)

Horses without papers on file in the Racing Office will receive no preference. 6. Horses that run will receive an R date corresponding to the date they race and lose all dates previously held. Should a horse be registered, or come off a list on a non-racing day, the next racing day will be used as the preference date. 7. When a turf race is removed from the turf, all horses that run on the main track retain their previously held preference date. 8. Horses that are scratched will receive an S date corresponding to the race date they scratch. 9. zero has first preference and an E date takes preference over an R date of the same day. n R date takes preference over an S date of the same day. 10. Horses which make the body of a race at another racetrack after receiving an E date will forfeit any date they have established at Canterbury Park. 11. In an effort to ensure that racing fans will have an opportunity to wager on a reasonable number of horses, the following policies are in place concerning turf entries: Entries will be accepted in turf races for Main Track Only horses (main track only entries). Trainers must declare MTO at time of entry. MTO entry has no preference to draw into a turf race as a starter and will be carded as an also-eligible at all times even if the race doesn t overfill. maximum of two MTO entries will be drawn as also eligibles in overfilled turf races. MTO entries will draw a post position in both stakes and overnight races, unless least preferred. They will not be permitted to enter until they have been approved to start with exception of horses awaiting a test result from an official timed workout who will be allowed to enter but shall be least preferred. horse which ran before going on a list will keep its running date. Horses which were scratched will be given a running date of the day the horse comes off the list. 13. Horses which have established a date at the current meeting will lose their preference should their papers be withdrawn from the Racing Office or demonstrate intent to race elsewhere and must reestablish a preference date at this meeting. 14. In no way does the claiming, tattooing, corrections, ownership transfer or trainer transfer of a horse affect the preference date. 15. To meet these conditions, the horse must: 1) have been laid off for a period of 120 days or more; 2) have last been an official starter in a claiming race from which it was eligible to be claimed; and 3) must be entered today for a claiming price equal to or greater than at which it last started. However, the association may uncouple entries in any race with the permission of the stewards. In stake races, high weights will be preferred, winners preferred. Sex allowance in races with male horses is considered. Horses not drawing a starting position in the gate will receive a refund of entry fee. llowance Optional Claiming Races In specified llowance/optional Claiming races, horses may be entered if they are eligible for the allowance condition, or for the specified Claiming Price. In the conditions, the clause...races Not Considered shall apply both to eligibility and allowances. 17

Jockeys having engagements to ride must be in the scale room one hour before post time. fter making weights, jockeys must not leave the jockey room until all engagements for the day have been filled. Jockeys are positively forbidden in the betting enclosure from one hour prior to post time for the first race. Those who violate this rule may be fined, suspended or ruled off. ny jockey taken off mounts due to illness or injury is not eligible to be named on horses until cleared by the Track Paramedic who will notify the Stewards. jockey engaged to ride any horse is bound to fulfill his/her engagement unless excused by the Stewards. Should a rider become injured or ill on the way to the post or at the gate and the Stewards designate a substitute rider, such rider will fulfill the order of the Stewards and complete the engagement on the horse. Winners Preferred In all races written for winners, including stakes races, winners shall be preferred. Races written for lifetime conditions, such as non-winners of three or four races, multiple winners most closely matching the condition shall be preferred. Transfer of Horse on the Grounds The purchase, claim or transfer of any horse on the grounds at Canterbury Park - whether by private sale, claiming, or public auction - does not guarantee the new owner a stall for said horse. The management of Canterbury Park reserves the right to allocate stalls. Horses will be permitted to start only upon producing a certificate of registration from the Jockey Club showing colors and markings to correspond and having the necessary lip tattoo. ll horses coming to the track must have listed on their Jockey Club registration certificate all transfers of ownerships. No horse will be permitted to start without such accurate and complete record. This rule is for your protection. Be sure your papers are up-to-date. 18
