2 2017 Silver Series IMPORTANT SHOW INFORMATION SHOW RULES & REGULATIONS This is a POAC sanctioned show, open to all breed participants except for the POA Novice Youth division. Horses will be judged and classes run in accordance with POAC rules other than stated in the premium below. It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to know the rules and regulations, as well as the requirements of each class entered. A copy of the official rule book may be found in the show office or at the link below. Any exhibitors wanting POA points from this show must provide a copy of valid registration and POAC membership with their entry form for each horse entered. Rule Book: No one is allowed to sell merchandise from their stall or trailer contact the show coordinator for vending space. Age of horse and rider as of January 1, 2017 Show Clothes Required POAC Rules to Apply except which is identified in this premium. Judge s decision is final Management has the right to combine or cancel classes as deemed necessary. ASSOCIATION SANCTIONING The primary sanctioning for the show is Pony of the Americas. These shows have also been approved for the following breed programs: OFEA Approved PtHA SOAR Approved APHA PAC Approved AHA OEIP Approved ApHC ACAAP Approved ENTRY PROCEDURES Entries must be on the official entry form for this show (forms may be photo copied). Forms will not be accepted unless they are complete and accompanied by the required fees (and a copy of the registration papers for each horse entered for POA). Numbers will not be released without full payment of all fees. Phone entries will not be accepted. Exhibitors are responsible for the accuracy of entry forms prepared by themselves or their agents. Pre-entries will be accepted by mail to the address listed on the entry from or by to candacepelt@yahoo.com. Mailed Entries must be post marked one week prior to the show weekend to ensure arriving on time. POST ENTRIES (Adding Classes) Post entries or added classes will be accepted up to five classes prior to the class entering the ring. Post entries made for the first five classes of each day will be accepted up to ½ hour prior to the first class entering the ring. Pre-entered horse/rider combinations can add additional classes at the pre-entry fee. FLAT FEES ~ NEW FOR 2017 Our goal is to have fun with our equine partners, and decided this year that we would put in flat fees! We want to encourage you to enter MORE! Enjoy these flat fees, reduce our show bill, and jump in a few more classes! A flat fee covers classes for a single pony/rider combination. SCRATCHING OR CANCELING CLASSES As a COURTESY to the GATEMAN, ANNOUNCER & SHOW OFFICE, all exhibitors are requested to notify the GATEMAN & SHOW OFFICE when it is necessary to scratch or cancel a class entered. This courtesy will enable the show to run more efficiently. Your consideration will be appreciated. (REFUNDS) Entry fees will not be refunded without a veterinarian s statement as to the unsoundness of the entered horse. This must be presented to the show secretary before the first class of the day. Failure to show a horse that has been entered constitutes a forfeiture of entry fees. In the event of sudden illness of a horse after the entry deadline, another animal may be substituted. If done at the show, it must be done within the time frame outlined in the post entry section. Refunds will be mailed after the conclusion of the show. MEASURING All POA that do not have a Permanent Height Card (PHC) must be measured in accordance with POA rules. If your pony has a PHC, please submit copy of the card with your entry. All horses will be measured using the same official certified measuring stick. To expedite the measuring process, please come to the measurement area with everything but the halter removed from your pony. Friday, 6 p.m. 8 p.m. Saturday 7 a.m. 8 a.m. Other Times by Appointment POA NATIONAL POINT DESIGNATION FORM - Remember to fill out this form and turn into the show office before competing if you have more than one rider on the same horse. This is critical to make sure you get your National Points assigned correctly. GATE RULE Each exhibitor is responsible for monitoring the progress of the classes and being prepared to enter the ring promptly when a class has been called, without public notice. The gate will remain open for two minutes after the class has been called to enter the ring. Horses not in the arena when the gate is closed will be eliminated from the class and the entry fee will not be refunded. Breaks have been incorporated into the show schedule for necessary tack changes and to set up equipment. Additional gate holds not to exceed two minutes requested by exhibitors, may be called for at the discretion of the show manager. All gate holds must be requested from the show office at least four classes in advance of the requested hold. SHOW AND WARM-UP ARENAS There is one show and one warm up arena. All classes will be held in the indoor large arena with the exception of trail. Trail classes will run in the warm-up arena concurrently with the show day. A portion of the warm-up arena will be reserved for warming up. Since this will be a smaller area, exhibitors are asked to NOT lunge in this area once trail is set-up.

3 OPEN ARENA TIME - The large arena will be open from 5-9pm on Friday pm. To ride Friday night, you are required to fill out an arena waiver form as well as deposit $5.00 per rider in the box by the gate. Only mounted riding is allowable Friday night. The area will be available from 6-7:30 am Saturday as well as lunch break to work ponies/horses. The exception to this will be when the arena is being worked with the tractor. STALLS Stalls are $25 for Saturday Day use only. Friday night to Saturday at midnight is $ If you choose to stay Saturday night, you will be charged an additional $ You must notify the show office if you plan to stay Saturday night. There is no charge for showing from your trailer, or haul in fees. CLEANING OF STALLS Stalls will come bedded. Manure dumping will be at in designated manure piles. You are not required to clean the stalls before you leave. If you want a tack stall, notify the show office at least one week prior to the show to ensure shavings are not added. RV/OVERNIGHT PARKING Exhibitors may stay overnight in an RV, Trailer or Camper on the facility. Camping is $15 per night no hook up, $25 with electricity. Limited electrical spots, please reserve as soon as possible. HAUL IN AND OPEN ARENA TIME Haul in can start at 4pm on Friday. Arena will not be available until 5pm. LUNCH & DINNER BREAKS No specific lunch break has been scheduled. Show management and Judges will determine the progress of classes and announce a lunch break to occur as close to 12:00 noon as possible. Classes will be run according to the schedule unless announced otherwise. A dinner break will be called if necessary. FOOD ON SITE Food is available on-site. This will include breakfast and lunch. The restaurant closes daily by 2 pm. PROTESTS AND UNRULY CONDUCT Protests concerning POA recognized classes must be filed as outlined in the official rulebook. All other protests must be lodged in writing with the show secretary with one hour of the last session of the day when the problem occurred. A first review of the protest will be done by a minimum of 3 ORPOAC Officers/Directors and a resolution reached. If you choose to pursue further, the Protest Procedure in the POAC Rulebook will be followed. Disqualification will result from an unmanageable horse or other condition that endangers safety. PATTERN BOOK - Pattern Books will be available on our website at one week prior to the show. Contact Jenissa Currey at (541) if you would like a hard copy mailed to you. EQUATATION CLASSES - Patterns are mandatory for Showmanship, Western Horsemanship, Bareback Horsemanship and Huntseat Equitation. All Horsemanship and Equitation classes are pattern work only. See the Pattern Book Availability above. HALTER CLASSES & CHAMPIONSHIP - 1st and 2nd place in each of the age division Stallions, Geldings and Mare classes will proceed to the Champion class, with the Champion and Reserve Champion progressing to the Grand Champion Class. Solid, colored, Stock/Hunter, Jr. Horse, Sr. Horse and Most Colorful do not count for championship classes. NOVICE CLASSES We are offering two forms of Novice Classes in this show. All Novice classes are W/T only, no cross entry into any W/T/C Performance classes. Riders can enter the Gaming classes in their respective age groups. See the Awards Section for Novice High Point Class Qualifications. POA Novice Youth Division this class is for youth riding Registered POAs. You are required to have your Novice Designation form into the office and verification that you meet the national novice guidelines prior to entering this division. POA Novice riders may enter the Gaming class appropriate to their age division. Novice Handler/Horse Division this class is for Horse or Riders who have not won three blue ribbons in the division and is open to any age rider. LEADLINE CLASSES Leadline is for riders 6 years or younger as of January No Cross Entry between Leadline and other divisions. Leadline Classes are judged and placed. All leadline participants will receive something in each class. See the Awards Section for Leadline High Point Class Qualifications. We will be following the POA Rules for Leadline, highlighted below: In the Leadline classes, the handler is to control the pony. The handler is not to aid the rider. Exhibitors, and leaders in the Showmanship, Trail, and Timed Event Leadline classes, must be neatly dressed in discipline appropriate clothes consisting of boots, hat or approved protective headgear, long sleeved shirts with a collar and long pants. Spurs, Chaps, Vests and Coats are optional. Hunt Seat type safety helmets used in Western Classes shall not be discriminated against. Leader must be at least 14 years old. For Gaming Classes: Leadline Contestants must wear a helmet. A halter must be placed under the bridle, with lead rope attached. The pony/horse must cross the timer before the leader in all gaming classes. The lead must be attached to the halter underneath the bridle at all times during this class. The leader for gaming classes may wear tennis shoes instead of boots and is not required to wear a helmet. The class starts when the pony crosses the timer line and stops when the pony crosses the timer line on its return. In Leadline Trail, the leader should not aid the rider; only keep the pony under control. In Leadline Showmanship, the leader shall remain near the exhibitor and are to only assist the exhibitor in any safety issues arise.

4 10 & UNDER WALK-JOG (OFEA Approved) We are offering a separate division from the POA age divisions to support riders seeking OFEA points. Riders 10 & Under may not canter in any class. Riders in this division may qualify for other classes- please contact the show secretary prior to the show for rule clarifications. GAMING CLASSES - The gaming classes will be run under the POA rules. Excerpts from the POA Rule Book covering the classes we are holding can be seen on the Schedule of Events page at Each entry will make 1 run on each event. NOTE: All Contestants 18 & Under cannot use Over & Unders attached to the saddle horn (or anything else attached to the saddle horn), and must wear a helmet. Quirts, bats and other hand held devices are allowed. This will not apply to the 19 & Over contestants. See the Leadline section for Leadline specific gaming rules. CLASS AWARDS - Each class will be placed thru 6th place. You will have a choice of taking a ribbon, or taking a raffle ticket that can be deposited into the Prize Raffle Box of your choice! DRIVING DIRECTIONS Yamhill County Fairgrounds, 2750 NE Lafayette Ave, McMinnville, OR The Yamhill Co Fairgrounds is located ½ mile off of HWY 99 on NE Lafayette Avenue in McMinnville. POA Point System - We will be calculating Awards using the POA Point System identified below. Grand Champion - 3 points Reserve Grand Champion - 2 points Senior Champion - 1 point Reserve Senior Champion - 0 points Junior Champion - 1 point Reserve Junior Champion - 0 point 1st place - 18 points 2nd place - 17 points 3rd place 16 points 4th place - 15 points 5th place - 14 points 6th place - 13 points For any class with less than six (6) entries, sixth place points will be awarded to the lowest placing in class, fifth place points to next placing, etc. For larger classes, bonus points will be award as identified below. (Tables below have been truncated, additional information in POAC Rule Book) Grand & Reserve Champion, Senior & Reserve Sr Champion, Junior & Reserve Jr Champion mare, stallion or gelding are awarded extra points in order that they receive an equal number of points as the most points received by any pony beaten in the same sex division, plus the usual points for their placing. 5 2017 Silver Series DETAILS, FEES, & AWARDS General Information: The Silver Series is a three-show series of Inter Breed Competition (Open to all breeds) shows hosted by Oregon Pony of the Americas Club and the Oregon Appaloosa Breeders Association. These three single-day shows will consist of a full range of classes common to the POA schedule of classes. The three shows will be March 4, April 1, and May 13, and all shows will be held at the Yamhill County Fairgrounds in McMinnville, Oregon. Silver Series Fees: - For any pony/horse and/or exhibitor to be eligible for a silver High Point award, a point designation form must be completed and payment made to the show office prior to any accumulated points. The Silver Series counts towards Oregon s year end award division. Current POA members prices for the silver series account for membership fees paid. Membership forms will be available at the show office. Oregon POA Members: Halter only $40.00 Triad (Longeline, In Hand Trail & Halter) $55.00 Leadline Division $55.00 Single Horse/Rider combination $75.00 Non- Oregon POA Members: Halter only $50.00 Triad (Longeline, In Hand Trail & Halter) $75.00 Leadline Division $75.00 Single Horse/Rider combination $ NOTE: If you are showing a Registered POA, and you want to also qualify for ORPOAC Year End Awards, we will need a copy of the ponies papers, and need to measure the pony at the show or verify height with by seeing their Permanent Height Card. Non Registered POAs can be hardshipped, we can help you with that process! Overall High Point Silver Award: Each show will have a single overall High Point awarded to the pony/horse and rider combination in any division with the most accumulated points. Only exhibitors who have paid the silver series fee, by lunch break at each show, will be eligible for this award. This may be awarded to any age exhibitor competing in Halter, Showmanship, Western, English, and Games. Qualifying Classes for Daily High Point Award (One horse/rider Combination) Halter (1-29), Showmanship (37-43), English Pleasure and Equitation (46-64), Western Pleasure and Equitation (66-84), trail (89-95), Western Riding (96-99), Reining ( ), Games ( ). Silver Series High Points The series will include three shows and five judges. Exhibitors must show at two separate shows to be eligible for a Silver High Point. Halter Awarded to highest pointed pony/horse in halter type classes. Classes include Mares, Geldings, and Stallions as well as one color, solid, or stock/hunter class per show. Triad Yearling or two-year old pony/horses with the most points for In-hand Longeline, Trail, and one halter class (mares, geldings, or stallions) Leadline Leadline is for exhibitors 6 and under as of Jan 1, All leadline classes count for the high point including showmanship, performance classes, and games. Western Exhibitors with the most points in halter (mares, geldings, or stallions), showmanship, Equitation, Pleasure, Trail, Western Riding, Reining, and Ranch Pleasure. *Note- not all classes will be offered at each show. Awarded to: 9 & Under, 10-13, 14-18, 19 & Over English - Exhibitors with the most points in Hunter In-Hand, Equitation, Pleasure, Jumping. *Note- not all classes will be offered at each show. Awarded to: 9 & Under, 10-13, 14-18, 19 & Over Games - Exhibitors with the most points in all gaming events over the three shows. Awarded to: 9 & Under, 10-13, 14-18, 19 & Over POA Novice Any youth exhibitor (18 & under) showing a registered POA and registered for the novice division may be eligible for this award. Classes include Showmanship, Western and English Equitation and Pleasure, Trail, and games in the riders age division. 10 & Under Walk /Jog 10 and under exhibitors not eligible for another division with the most points in halter (mares, geldings, or stallions), showmanship, English and Western Equitation and Pleasure, Trail, and designated games.
