Diggins was fined the sum of $100 under A87A(2) for failing to have a lead bit on one of his horses at Seymour track work on 30 April, Stewards accepted the explanation of C. Little (Text N Hurley) in Race 1 for his use of club colours. Race 1 BENDIGO PROPERTY SERVICES SV 3YO F MAIDEN PLATE metres: Lonhtime jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages Estamagic over-raced. Approaching the 900 metres Estamagic when over-racing badly, had to be checked to avoid the heels of Lonhtime (J. Benbow) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. J. Benbow was severely reprimanded for shifting in when not clear of other runners. In arriving at this decision Stewards took into account the racing manners of Estamagic. Estamagic then continued to over-race and race greenly in the middle stages. Lonhtime raced wide and without cover. In the straight Estamaic laid in.

2 Race 2 BRB ELECTRICAL MAIDEN PLATE metres: After passing the 800 metres Orthodoxia and Bashiga raced tightly between Scimitar which shifted in sightly, and Whispering Angel, which shifted out slightly. After passing the 600 metres Star O Reilly shifted out slightly and brushed Bashiga. Bashiga then made contact with Orthodoxia, which in turn shifted out and as a result had to be checked off the heels of Forward Flyer. Forward Flyer and Caniwin raced wide without cover. In the straight Scimitar had a tendency to lay in. S. Vella rider of Forward Flyer was fined the sum of $100 for using his whip on eight occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres and was also fined the sum of $200 for using his whip on seven consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres. T. Burleigh rider of Miss Burlesque, 5 placegetter, was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out to the end of the race. In arriving at this decision the Stewards were of the opinion that miss Burleigh s actions did not alter the placings in the race. Race 3 GERARD K HOUSE PTY LTD F & M MAIDEN PLATE metres: After being placed in its barrier stall La Venta became fractious. La Venta was removed from its barrier stall, examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who deemed the filly unfit to start. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of La Venta at 1.37 p.m. Subsequently Stewards ordered all monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets 29 cents Place Bets (For winner) 14 cents Place Bets (For 2) 25 cents Place Bets (For 3) 27 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Acting on a report from the Starter in regards to La Venta s behaviour, stable representative of P. Moody the filly s trainer, was notified La Venta must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards and obtain approval to race prior to being permitted to start again. Prior to correct weight M. Walker rider of Shinz Addition 4 placegetter viewed the official video in the straight before deciding not to proceed with an objection. At the start Enhancements which was marginally slow to jump away, then had to check when tightened for room between Girls On Film and Mystic Obsession, which shifted out. Also at the start Hotilla and Jungle Poppi were slow to jump away. After passing the 600 metres Hotilla which was laying in, was taken out off its course by Enhancements, which shifted out to improve.

3 Jungle Poppi hung out rounding the home turn. In the straight, Enhancements raced greenly under pressure. Approaching the 200 metres Mystic Obsession raced tightly to the inside of Shinz Addition, which was taken in marginally by Venetian Rock, which after shifting in was then straightened by its rider. During the running of the race Girls On Film lost its near hind plate. Also during the running of the race Amalie lost its near fore plate J. Hill rider of Venetian Rock was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on six occasions prior to the 100 metres. Stewards took into account J. Hill s record in this area. Race 4 RICHARD CAMBRIDGE PRINTERS MAIDEN PLATE metres: After being placed in its starting stall Written Intent became fractious. Written Intent then proceeded to break through the front of the gates and then galloped a lap of the track. As to not cause any undue delay Written Intent was withdrawn by the Stewards at 2.11 p.m. As that barrier stall had been damaged during this incident all horses that had been loaded into their respective stalls, were then removed so that the starting stalls could be repaired and tested. Due to this the start of the race was further delayed. Acting on a report from the Starter that Sir John s Hope could not be loaded into its barrier stall, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Sir John s Hope at 2.16 p.m. After being loaded into its barrier stall Petley then became fractious. Petley was removed from its barrier stall and declared unfit to start by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Petley at 2.19 p.m. Acting on a report from the Starters, the representatives of Petley, Sir John s Hope and Written Intent were all notified that prior to starting again all horses must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards and gain approval to race. Subsequently Stewards ordered all monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. Stewards delayed correct weight to determine whether Flash Clang Boom had been denied a fair start. After viewing the official footage it was established that Flash Clang Boom which had been in its barrier for a considerable time due to the delays stood flatfooted and as a result lost considerable ground. Acting on this Flash Clang Boom was declared a runner and correct weight was declared. After taking into consideration all the circumstances surrounding the loading process for this race, Stewards took no official action against Flash Clang Boom other than to place a warning on the mare and a re-occurrence of this behaviour in future may lead to further action being taken. Mr Guy was slow to jump away. Lyndhurst was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout. Near the 200 metres Paraggi shifted in and brushed Longlea Lad. Paraggi laid in under pressure in the straight. J. Todd rider of Mr Guy which performed poorly explained that the gelding made an unusual respiratory noise on pulling up. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr. M. Sell the gelding s trainer explained it as his intention to have an endoscopic examination done on the gelding post race. Mr. Sell will forward those results through to the Veterinary Department at Racing Victoria. D. Stackhouse rider of Lyndhurst which performed below market expectations explained that although Lyndhurst was caught wide throughout, the gelding did not quicken as he would have expected near the 300 metres when put under pressure, and in his opinion was disappointing. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5 FITZPATRICKS TIMBER AND HARDWARE 0-62 HANDICAP metres: Prior to correct weight H. McKechnie rider of Final Folly 5 placegetter viewed the official video in the straight before lodging an objection against Gun And Power being declared 3 placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference near the 200 metres. It was established that near the 200metres Final Folly was hampered when tightened for room between Gun And Power which shifted in before being straightened by its rider and Haluva Storm which shifted out slightly. As Stewards were of the opinion that the interference suffered to Final Folly was not greater than the margin between the two horses at the finish, the protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared. J. Fry rider of Gun And Power was notified to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstances. In arriving at this decision Stewards did believe there was a shift out from inside Final Folly by Haluva Storm. At the start Kaptain Kempinsky had to be checked severely when tightened for room between Gun And Power which shifted in slightly and Marlo Man, which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Also at the start Outback Joe jumped away awkwardly and Gun and Power knuckled, shifted out and made heavy contact with Control.

5 In the early and middle stages of the race Final Folly over-raced. Tiger Time raced wide and without cover throughout. Rounding the home turn Outback Joe was held up for a clear run. From the entrance to the straight until passing the 300 metres Grado was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. Near the 200 metres Why Mallan was hampered by Cashzoo which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. Over the concluding stages Final Folly laid in under pressure and approaching the winning post when laying in, shifted in and made contact with Gun And Power. J. Mott rider of Charting which performed below market expectations could offer no explanation for the gelding s performance today. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the horse was lame in both fore legs. Mr. D. O Brien trainer of Charting was notified he must be in receipt of a Veterinary Certificate prior to racing again. Prior which performed below market expectations was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no abnormalities. Race 6 NATIONAL HEATING AND COOLING CLASS 1 HANDICAP metres: The explanation of Mr. J. Sadler trainer of Perfect Offering for the use of incorrect colours on the filly, was accepted. At the start Klishina jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Perfect Offering jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 600 metres Miss Written had to be checked to avoid the heels of Perfect Offering, which was taken in sightly by Ludus Magnus, which was initially taken in by Bombalurina before that filly was then straightened. As this incident could not be attributed to any one horse or rider the Stewards took no further action Near the 500 metres Acadian when racing tightly to the inside of Ludus Magnus, shifted out from the rail getting its head up and became unbalanced and as a result lost ground. Miss Written which was following, was hampered in consequence. In the straight Kaiser Sun and Ludus Magnus laid in under pressure. S. Arnold rider of Klishina which performed below market expectations explained in his opinion the fill may be better suited in races of a longer distance than todays event. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the filly was suffering from mild lameness. P. Moloney rider of Bold Cover explained that the gelding hung out quite badly rounding the home turn. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr. J. Horton stable representative of Mr. P. Moody was notified that a warning would be placed against Bold Cover for hanging out. J. Duffy rider of Acadian explained in his opinion there was something amiss with the mare s action. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare was lame in front. Mr. M. Thomas trainer of Acadian was notified he must be in receipt of a Veterinary Certificate for the mare prior to racing again. RACE 7 - EASTMAN LYNCH 0-62 HANDICAP metres:

6 After being placed in its starting stall Polar Bel became fractious. Polar Bel was removed from it starting stall, examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start. At the start Polar Bel was tightened for room between Adoboli which shifted out and Cent To Save, which shifted in slightly. King Oliver and Barbuda were both slow to jump away. Shortly after the start Vandalised, which was marginally slow to jump away, had to be checked when tightened for room between Wake The Guru and Cent To Save, which shifted out and away from Polar Bel. In the early and middle stages Barlow over-raced badly and after being caught wide was permitted by its rider to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader near the 800 metres, Viscera race wide without cover throughout. Rounding the home turn Adonoli (M. Walker) shifted out abruptly to obtain a clear run and in doing so hampered Barlow, taking that gelding out off its course. M. Walker was severely reprimanded for the abrupt manner in which he permitted his mount to shift ground and notified in similar circumstances he would be expected to show a far greater effort to protect his fellow riders. In the straight Barbuda hung in under pressure and proved difficult for its rider D. Gauci to ride out in his normal manner. M. Walker rider of Adoboli 2 placegetter, explained that he had recommended to the trainers reresentive, that the gelding would be improved with the addition of blinkers. T. Sadler rider of Wolfpack explained in his opinion the gelding would be better suited on rain affected tracks. C. Symons rider of Praetorian explained when put under pressure near the 600 metres the gelding did not respond to his riding as he would have anticipated. C. Robertson rider of Viscera which gave ground quickly in the straight explained he felt there may be something amiss with Viscera s action. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the off fore leg. Mr. S. Coombes was notified he must be in receipt of a veterinary certificate for Viscera prior to racing again.. L. Currie rider of Barlow which gave ground in the straight explained that the gelding over-raced quite badly in early and middle stages and in his opinion this was detrimental to Barlow finishing its race off today. D. Yendall rider of Cent To Save which performed below market expectations could offer no explanation for the mare s performance today. Race 8 KIERAN BYRNE BUILDING CONTRACTORS 0-68 HANDICAP metres: Acting on a confirmed telephone call from K. Goodrich trainer of Littlebitaluck who explained that due to mechanical difficulties with the float that was to transport the gelding to the track, she would be unable to present Littlebitaluck on course by the prescribed time. Acting on this, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Littlebitaluck at 1.12 p.m.

7 Subsequent to the running of race 3 a stable representative of L. Oliver trainer of Suite Success advised that it was their intention from the mare s wide barrier, to have it ridden back in the field today. Subsequent to the running of the race, Stewards questioned B. Rawiller rider of Suite Success which the stable had notified was to be ridden back today, however was ridden in a forward position to obtain the lead near the 800 metres. B. Rawiller explained that after jumping away extremely well Suite Success was caught wide in the early stages. After being caught wide early and as there was no pace in the early stages of the race he then elected to allow the mare to stride forward and race in a forward position. Stewards then interviewed Mr. Steve Leone stable representative of L. Oliver, the mare s trainer, who explained that given the circumstances of Suite Success jumping away extremely well and also the lack of early pace in the race, the stable was satisfied with B. Rawillers ride. Doctor Gachet jumped away awkwardly ad lost ground. Loudeaux over-race throughout and raced wide without cover. In the middle stages Our Schiller over-raced and raced tightly to the inside of Rayhan. Shortly after straightening, Rayhan had to be checked to avoid the heels of Windsor Edition which initially was taken out slightly by Usurper before then shifting out and away from that filly. As Usurper which had performed below market expectations had left the course before being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, Mr. M. Price the filly s trainer will be contacted in ensuing days to ascertain whether Usurper had pulled up in a normal manner.
