Application available at on the About Us page. ***Horses not competing in classes must have an entry form, with signatures, current Coggins, and pay a non-compete fee, office fee and either grounds or stall fee. RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION 1. DIVISIONS: Adult Amateur (AA): A rider age 21* and over who does not receive remuneration for instructing or coaching riders, or training or riding horses. Junior- Under 13*: A rider under age 13. Junior 13 and over*: A rider between the ages of 13 and 20. Open: Any rider who does not fall in the Adult Amateur or Junior divisions. *Championship Classes Only: Junior riders who turn 13 or 21 during the ASSC qualifying year (November 14, 2016 November 19, 2017) may compete in the ASSC division they are were eligible for at the beginning of the qualifying year. For example, if the junior is 12 years old on November 14, 2016, they can ride in the ASSC as a junior in the Under 13 division even if they have turned 13 by the show date. 2. ENTRY PROCEDURES: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!! A. Open Show Entries: Fill out ONE entry form for the show weekend for each rider/horse combination. Negative Coggins form per horse is required and a check for fees made payable to Alamo Dressage Association. Please mail entries to entry show secretary, Carrie Lamoreaux. No post-dated checks accepted. Horse is not officially entered until payment & completed entry are received. B. Championship Entries: IMPORTANT!!! In addition to the requirements in 2.A., Championship entries that have not submitted qualifying scores previously MUST include copies of their qualifying scores with their show entry!!! See Championship rules on qualifying in this prize list. 5
6 C. At the show: No bridle numbers will be issued without full payment and completed entries, including signatures and emergency contact information. D. Entry Acceptance: Entries will be accepted on a first come-first serve basis based on postmark date until classes are filled except Championship entries will be given priority. Entries received after classes are filled will be notified and, if desired, put on a waiting list (in the order of postmark). Those entries postmarked after closing will be accepted at the discretion of the show secretary and show committee, based on a space available basis and charged a late fee. Those on the waiting list who entered show prior to closing date and did not get into the show will have all fees refunded. Management reserves the right to refuse any entry. Entries close at & MUST BE POSTMARKED BY November 7, E. A copy of horse s negative Coggins form blood drawn on date drawn within 12 months of the show date must accompany each entry. Management will assume no responsibility for the health of horses being stabled. Owners are warned as they enter horses at their own risk. F. Anyone mounting, getting on, riding or trying a horse at the facility during the weekend of the show (including Friday) must sign a show release form (see second page of entry form). For safety purposes, show management and ring stewards reserve the right to limit amount of non-competing riders in arenas. G. Show management reserves the right to limit entries, add, combine, or divide classes, modify the schedule, add, substitute or change officials, modify or cancel awards and prizes and/or make whatever changes are required by circumstances to the competition specifications listed herein. Show management reserves the right to cancel classes insufficiently filled and to refuse or require withdrawal of an entry for cause deemed sufficient by show management. H. Management reserves the right to cancel any classes due to hazardous weather, Acts of God, accident, or emergency. Every effort will be made to reschedule with priority given to any qualifying classes being offered. No refunds for cancellations due to hazardous weather, Acts of God, accidents or emergencies. 3. TESTS: A. The 2015 Dressage tests can be found at (Intro level) or (National levels). B. USEA tests can be found at C. Western Dressage tests can be found at 4. SCRATCHES & SUBSTITUTIONS: Exhibitors have the responsibility of informing the Show Secretary of their intention to scratch in writing. Please keep your receipt of notification of scratching for proof. A. Scratches of the whole show made in writing to Show Secretary before the closing date may be made for any reason and all fees (except for office fee) will be refunded within thirty days after the show. B. There are no refunds of fees after closing date. C. All no shows that have not contacted the show office prior to first ride will be considered a scratch for the rest of the show and time slots may be filled. Exhibitors enter with this understanding and agreement. 5. LATE ENTRIES: All entries must be POSTMARKED on or before the closing date or will be considered a late entry. Each late entry will be charged a late fee of Late entries will be accepted and given a ride time only as schedule permits. 7. RETURNED CHECKS: A fee will be assessed for each returned check. All fees must be made good prior to packet pick-up. 8. RIDE TIMES/CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY: Preliminary ride times will be ed before the show and ride times will be posted at the show grounds by noon on Friday. Any updates for the Championship Show will be posted by 5:00 PM on Saturday. Any changes after closing date initiated by rider or owner will incur a 20 per change fee. 9. BRIDLE NUMBERS: Bridle numbers for the show entered (including non-competing horses) should be worn at all times when a horse is out of its stall even on non-show days. 10. FREESTYLES: Music for all freestyles on CD must be given to show office on Friday. Competitors are responsible for picking up their music before the end of the show. Music left will not be mailed. 12. LEADLINE CLASS: To be ridden by a child who has not reached his/her 8 th birthday as of December 31, To be judged on manners and suitability of mount to rider and rider position/effectiveness. Children riding in this class are not eligible to compete in any other class. No stallions. One handler per entry; handler must be at least 18 years of age. Please list date of birth of competitor. Feet in stirrups, hands on reins, ASTM/SEI protective headgear, and boots are required. English or Western tack. No published pattern exists; all competitors ride in ring together. 6
7 13. EQUITATION CLASSES (includes WD Equitation): A. Walk Equitation limited to riders who have never competed in Walk Trot Equitation, Intro Level or above, or WD Introductory Level or above. No published pattern exists; all competitors ride in ring together. B. Walk-Trot Equitation limited to riders who have never competed at Training Level or above or WD Basic Level or above. No published pattern exists; all competitors ride in ring together. 15. FACILITIES & ARENAS: All tests and warm-up will be ridden in either indoor (sand/clay footing) or outdoor arenas (sand footing). Competition arenas are 20m x 60m. Lunging permitted in designated outdoor areas only. All horses in the warm-up arenas must wear their competition numbers. Arenas close at 8:00 PM. Some classes may be ridden in small arena 20m X 40m. 17. STABLING: A. Permanent stalls are of wood construction, 12' X 12 with wooden doors, and dirt floor. B. Competitors may change stalls with permission of Show Secretary before opening shavings. C. No outside shavings are permitted. Pre-paid shavings will be delivered by noon on Friday. D. Anyone using (without having paid) an unassigned stall or tack stall, even temporarily, will be charge a one-day stall fee per day. E. No smoking in the barns and near the indoor arenas. F. Stall chart/assignment will be posted on Friday. G. Horse handler/trainer/owner information card on stalls must be filled with completed contact numbers upon arrival at facility grounds! 18. DOGS: Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwise contained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs behaviors. Loose dogs will be impounded and the owner will pay a 200 fee. 19. CONCESSIONS: Concessions are available at the show grounds. 20. PARKING and RVs/Living Quarter trailers: Parking is allowed in designated areas only. Horse trailers must be parked on the west side of the facility (on the right). RV parking (with permit) is available on the east side of the facility (on the left). Vehicles and trailers may not be parked in alleyways except for brief unloading/loading! Horses may not be tied to trees. 22. TACK & EQUIPMENT: USEF and WDAA (Western Dressage Association of America) rules will be followed with regards to tack and equipment. 23: ATTIRE & HEADGEAR: Prefer attire that meets USEF/USDF and WDAA regulations but coats are optional. Dressage riders should dress with conservative color riding pants and shirts and footwear (dress or field boots, paddock or jodhpur boots - half chaps are allowed) and proper headgear (ASTM approved helmets). Western Dressage riders should follow WDAA regulations with regards to attire except that anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective (ASTM approved) headgear including Western Dressage riders. 23. LODGING: Fairfield Inn & Suites San Antonio Boerne, 6 Cascade Road, Boerne, TX Ph: (830) RIBBONS, PRIZES, AND AWARDS: A. Open Schooling Show: Ribbons for 1 st through 6 th place. Ribbons, prizes, and tests will be available after class has been pinned. B. Championship: 1. The Championship will be pinned by Championship/Division. Individual classes ridden for the Championship will not be pinned. 2. See Section III of Championship Rules below. 25. HIGH POINT CHAMPION AND RESERVE: Open Schooling Show ONLY. Champion will be awarded to the horse/rider combination with the highest score over the two days. Championship and Freestyle scores are excluded. Reserve champion will be awarded to the second highest score. A minimum average score of 55% must be attained to be eligible. 26. SEE ATTACHED CHAMPIONSHIP RULES! 27. TACK SALE! 8 Alam o Dressage Associat ion Schooling Show Cham pionships ( ASSC) Novem ber , I. Rules for Qualifying 1. A horse/ rider combination may qualify for the ASSC Championship by earning two (2) qualifying scores. Winning or placing in the class is not necessary as long as the score is earned. a. Scores must be earned at two (2) different schooling competitions from two (2) different judges. b. Scores must be obtained from a USEF licensed judge or a judge who has graduated from the USDF L Program. c. Scores m ust be obtained during the ASSC qualifying year (see 2.0). d. Qualifying scores can be obtained from any test of the level the horse/ rider com bination is trying to qualifying for. e. Scores earned at the previous ASSC Cham pionship Show are not eligible; however, Open show scores earned that weekend are eligible for the next year s qualifying. 2. The ASSC qualifying year begins the weekend of the previous year s cham pionship show (scores from non-championship classes count toward qualifying for the subsequent year s championship) ends on the entry closing date of the ASSC Show, to be announced but generally 2 weeks prior to the show. 3. The ASSC show will be held in Novem ber of each year. See section IV. 4. A horse/ rider combination having won the Championships at a certain level may not compete at that level or below in the Cham pionships in subsequent years. However, the horse m ay com pete at any level with a different rider or vice versa. 5. A horse/ rider com bination m ay qualify at two consecutive levels for the Cham pionships. 6. Divisions Western Dressage: Open division only. All riders, any age, am ateurs and professionals. 7. Divisions Classical Dressage: Adult Am ateur: A rider age 21* and over who does not receive rem uneration for instructing or coaching riders, or training or riding horses. Junior - Under 1 3 * : A rider under age 13. Junior 1 3 and over* : A rider between the ages of 13 and 20. I ntroductory Level: Qualified horse/ rider com bination m ust ride both Test A and Test B. Scores will be averaged to determine placing in the Championship. 3. Training First Level: Qualified horse/ rider com bination m ust ride the highest two tests of the level at the Cham pionship show. Scores will be averaged to determ ine placing in the Championship. 4. Second Level and above: Qualified horse/ rider com bination only required to ride Test 3 of the level at the Championship show. 5. 10 6. Eventing Tests: Qualified horse/ rider com bination m ust ride test A & B of the level. Scores will be averaged to determine placing in the Championship. 7. All riders m ay carry a whip and have their test called. 8. Com petition Attire: Prefer attire that meets USEF/ USDF regulations. Exceptions: Coats are optional. Breeches of ANY color and half-chaps are perm itted at all levels. Western rider attire m ust m eet WDAA regulations. 9. Protective Headgear: All riders m ust wear protective headgear (ASTM approved helm ets) while mounted. This includes W ESTERN DRESSAGE RI DERS! 10. Tack and Equipm ent: Must m eet USEF/ WDAA regulations. 11. Aw ards Cerem ony: Morning awards to be held during lunch break and afternoon awards im m ediately following the show. All riders are encouraged to com e m ounted for the awards cerem ony. If you are not able, you may attend unmounted with or without your horse. I I I. Cham pionship Aw ards 1. Trophies or m edals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places. Ribbons will be awarded for first through sixth places. 2. Prize m oney will be awarded for first through third place. The am ount is determined by the am ount of fees collected from qualifying scores and the num ber of entries in all the Open, Am ateur, and Junior Championships classes. It is allocated as follows: First/ 50%, Second/ 30%, and Third/ 20%. In the event a class only has two competitors, prize m oney will be split 60% / 40%. 3. Prize m oney and awards will be dispersed at the end of the show. ADA will not m ail awards and prize m oney.
