These angles are listed in random order and all of them are potentially strong situations for producing winners at very generous odds, overlay odds. We focus on 8-1 odds or higher. Sometimes you will notice a certain horse that qualifies for more than 1 of these angles which makes an even more consistent play.

A Strong Reminder: Please be well aware of what horses are scratched in each race because a certain scratched horse(s) could possibly set you up with one of these proven winning overlay situations. Please Note: If you have not yet read the article on TRUE ODDS (It is truly a must read) you can find it at Special Note: This book proves to you that there are many different ways to find overlay winners. Not just Value Odds horses. While Value Odds horses (those that have the icon) are definitely a very good source for overlay winners they are far from being the sole resource. Another Special Note: It is suggested that you take notes on the tracks and/or circuits that you play in order to find patterns. Also knowing the trainers habits at your circuit does help a lot. The MOST Special Note: Finding and playing overlays is THE WAY a horseplayer can make a long term profit, cash some big tickets in the process and have some fun! Cashing those big tickets is what takes you down the road to long term profit. Making a handful of big scores each year is the proven way to become a profitable horseplayer. This game is gambling, you are risking money, and you must have the advantage in the odds to have a chance to do well. Focusing on finding an advantage over the odds of risk is the winning ticket. The good news is that you are an intelligent horseplayer who enjoys a great sport. If you could improve and change your focus you could enjoy your sport tremendously even more and make a profit too!

If you want to be one of those cashing the tickets in all the betting pools then study this manual like a Bible. It will guide you to the promised land! Bankroll management is a must in order to make a long term profit in this game. Read and study the "7 Proven Bankroll Tips for Making a Long Term Profit" article located at A few final thoughts before we get on with the angles. Psychology of being a profitable horseplayer. If you believe that you can be a profitable horseplayer than guess what? You can be and you will be! What you need to do is think, believe and act that you are already a profitable horseplayer. 36 Proven Winning Overlay Angles [1] BEST FINAL TIME ALL-WEATHER TRACK/TURF On all-weather tracks (Polytrack, Tapeta, Cushion Track, etc) look for horses that have the BEST FINAL TIME RATING OF THIS FIELD ON ALL WEATHER TRACKS ICON and are going off at 8-1 odds or higher. In races run on the turf look for horses that have the BEST FINAL TIME ON THE TURF ICON and are going off at 8-1 or higher. Only 1 horse per race will have this icon. If the horse also has some additional profit icon(s) it's a big plus. The horse with this designation has already proven to be able to run a better final time speed rating on an all-weather surface or turf (in turf races) than the rest of the horses in the

race. This is extremely important because not every horse runs its best on the synthetic surfaces. You can get good overlay winners with this angle because often the race that gives this horse the top final time rating was a few races ago and the betting public is only most interested in what a horse did in its most recent start. While the most recent race is important it does not usually, completely and accurately display the absolute overall true talent of each racehorse in the current timeframe. Thoroughbreds are not machines nor are they computers. They do not always run a bad race nor do they always run a good race. There are exceptions to the every rule however but for the most part every horse runs in cycles of highs and lows and goes through the time spent getting to each high and low. Depending a lot on the trainer's intentions and techniques, horses can round into a high level its form cycle gradually or quickly. The trick is to look at each horse as a different entity and what it has done in its past 3 to 5 races. [2] BEST EARLY/MID PACE ADVANTAGE Look for a horse that has the EARLY/MID PACE ADVANTAGE ICON and going off at odds of 8-1 or higher. These qualifiers have an advantage in BOTH the ER PA (Early Pace) and MD PA (Mid Pace) ratings. The number of points advantage in those ratings should be considered as an extra bonus if it is 5 points or more over the 2nd rated horse for either rating.

There can only be 1 horse per race to have this icon and some races won't have any. This simple angle will really surprise you how well it works. This angle works on all surfaces (turf, dirt, all-weather tracks) and at all distances (sprints, middle routes, long routes). Don't be afraid to play a horse that qualifies even if its last few race finish positions were not that great. If the horse has an early pace edge over today's field it is all that matters sometimes. Take note and give extra credit to the PACE qualifying horse who also has the highest Turn Time Rating (TTR). Take strong note if a PACE horse also has the BEST TOTAL PACE RATING ICON! This is a super 'mini-angle'. The PACE angle is the oldest angle we have (we started following this in the late 90's) and still one of the best! [3] BEST LATE PACE RATING Amazingly Simple - Amazingly Potent - Amazingly Underrated. Look for a horse that has the LATE PACE ADVANTAGE ICON and is going off at 8-1 odds or higher. The higher the odds the better. Actually the higher the odds the better. Even 50-1 shots win with this angle. There is only 1 horse per race to have this icon. Once again this simple angle will really surprise you how well it works. This works on all surfaces (turf, dirt, all-weather tracks) and at all distances (sprints, middle routes, long routes).

This angle is especially important in turf races going both sprint and route distances. Even races as short as 5 furlongs as long as it is a turf race. This is also extremely important on All-Weather Track (Polytrack, etc) races in both sprint and route distances. With the aforementioned being said make a clear understanding that this factor can still be very potent on conventional dirt tracks at all distances as well as polytrack and turf surfaces. Sometimes you will even see a horse with this late pace advantage ranked low in overall power rating. Usually there can be tremendous overlay odds in this situation. [4] ULTIMATE KEY RACE ANGLE Look for horses that have the: EXITS AN ULTRA KEY RACE IN WHICH TWO OR MORE HORSES CAME BACK TO WIN THEIR NEXT START ICON or EXITS A KEY RACE IN WHICH ONE OR MORE HORSES CAME BACK TO WIN THEIR NEXT START ICON and A) Is picked either in Group A (top 4 picks) and going off at 8-1 odds or higher or B) Picked in Group B (picks 5,6,7) and going off at 10-1 odds or higher or C) Is the only horse in the race to have one of these icons

and is going off at 8-1 odds or higher. Can be any pick in the race for this one (C) even below Group B. or D) Finished in the money (1,2,3) in last race and is going off at 8-1 or higher today. If you find a horse who qualifies more than one from A, B, C or D that is obviously a potentially awesome opportunity. The EXITS AN ULTRA KEY RACE is a very strong angle with overlays. Very strong. A surprising factor we discovered about this angle is that it does not seem to matter if the horse coming out of the key race ran well or ran poorly in that race. If it simply ran in that key race is all that mattered. Also the length of time since that race (DSLR low or high) does not seem to matter. If the horse simply ran in the key race it does not matter of the race was 7 days ago or 300 days ago. Amazing discovery indeed. [5] BEST EARLY OR MID PACE This is another angle that is very simple yet still VERY effective. Look for a horse that has the highest (the highest is always underlined so it's easy to spot). Ties do count: A) EARLY PACE RATING (ER PA) - OR - B) MID PACE RATING (MD PA) and is going off at odds of 8-1 or higher. This works at any

distance and on any surface. If the horse also has some additional icon(s) or angle(s) it's a big plus. Qualifiers of this angle that win are sometimes found towards the lower half of the selection order (which is sorted by power rating). Especially the (ER PA) qualifiers. [6] BEST FINAL TIME RATING In every race there is only 1 horse who will be assigned the BEST FINAL TIME RATING OF THIS FIELD ICON. They can be listed as any pick in the race. Look for these horses with near post time odds of 8-1 or higher. The majority of the betting public is very much of a 'what have you done for me lately' crowd. At the same time it is not uncommon for a horse to run back to its best figure which could have been several races back. If this FINAL TIME horse runs back to its best figure he could certainly beat today's rivals and accomplish this at overlay odds. [7] WET TRACK ANGLE In every race there is only 1 horse who will be assigned the BEST WET TRACK PEDIGREE ICON. A lot of horseplayers do not give enough credit to the pedigree of a horse in this situation. When the track conditions are (off) wet-fast, sloppy, muddy, good, etc is when this angle comes into play. Look for these horses that are being let go at odds of 8-1 or higher.

Also horses with the GOOD RECORD ON WET TRACK ICON can produce some overlay winners as well. Why these horses are let go at high odds is a mystery as they have already exhibited a liking for the off surface. Nonetheless you will surprisingly find these types of situations to take advantage of on a regular basis. A good example of when the icon can come in handy is in races taken off the turf due to rain. As I type this sentence there was a race I was reviewing that was taken off the turf to be run on a sloppy main track. After scratches there were only 5 horses running and just 2 horses left that had the WET icon. Of the 2 horses with the icon, one went off near 10-1 odds and the other at 2-1. The longshot won to pay $21.60 and the other WET horse completed an $85.60 COLD exacta! Another race on a sloppy track I randomly watched had just 2 horses with the WET icon out of a field of 9. One went off at 2-1 odds and the other went off at 13-1 odds. Do you want to guess which horse won? Truly amazingly simple but powerful angle and a $29.40 winner! Yet another race run over a sloppy track had the usual one BEST WET TRACK PEDIGREE ICON horse and had 2 GOOD RECORD ON WET TRACK ICON horse. The W horse won to pay $36.60 and 1 of the 2 WET horses completed a $ exacta. This sort of blatant obvious situations happen a lot more than you would think. Once more, you will surprisingly find a lot of these types of situations to take advantage of. [8] BEST TURF PEDIGREE

In turf races, there is only one horse per race who gets the BEST TURF PEDIGREE ICON. Look for a horse in a turf race, sprints and route distances both, who has this icon and has near post time odds of 8-1 or higher. It's astonishing how many of these horses win at high odds. This is one of the most underrated and powerful angles ever! This angle is so strong that ANY horse that qualifies should be considered an automatic contender and live longshot if sent off at odds of 8-1 or higher. It also works in turf races of any class level from maiden, claiming, allowance, to grade 1 races. Take special note if the horse had been racing on dirt or allweather surface and is switching to the turf today. There are 5 major factors in determining the winners of turf racing and 1 of hose 5 is BEST TURF PEDIGREE. The other 4 are best final time turf, good turf jockey, late pace, total pace and class just in case you were wondering. When you see a BEST TURF PEDIGREE horse that also has any of the following icons it is a very strong EXTRA BONUS combination: BEST FINAL TIME TURF ICON GOOD TURF JOCKEY ICON BEST LATE PACE ICON BEST TOTAL PACE ICON

BEST TL CLASS ICON BEST RE CLASS ICON Please keep in mind, however, the BEST TURF PEDIGREE is a very strong stand alone angle without any other accompanying icons. [9] BEST TL/RE CLASS RATINGS The horse in each race with the highest Total Class (TL CLASS) rating of the field means it has run well versus this class or better in the past. Also known as "back class" and often forgotten by the majority of the betting public. For this reason you can get some nice overlays and live longshot winners with this angle. Look for the horse that has the BEST TOTAL CLASS RATING ICON and going off at 8-1 odds or higher. You will find these qualifying horses sometimes picked near the bottom, or in Group B, that go off at 15-1, 20-1, 30-1 and win! If the high odds horse also qualifies for another proven angle it is a big positive. If you see a horse with a TOTAL CLASS RATING that is points (or even more!) higher than the 2nd rated horse it is very significant. And if this horse is also within 5 FCR POWER RATING points of the top rating in the race it makes for a strong class play but demand 8-1 odds or higher. Our RE CLASS level rating gets its share of overlay winners as well. RE CLASS is more of a predictor of what kind of class

a horse will show today and what it has shown in the past 6 weeks. Look for the horse with the BEST RE CLASS RATING ICON that is going off at 8-1 odds or higher in today's race. And, as always, if the horse has other things to like it's a big plus. Special Note on Class: If there is a tie for top of either class rating the icon will not be generated. You can still easily see who has the top figure because they are underlined. Both parts of the class angle can come up very important in, but certainly not limited to, turf races of all distances. Special John Moore Profit Tip: A special little mini-angle is when you see a horse with one of the class icons AND the Best FCR Speed Figs icon. Sounds like common sense but quite a lot of big odds winners have come this way. [10] VALUE ODDS ANGLE In any race the VALUE ODDS HORSE ICON can show up on a horse listed in the top 3 picks normally. Possibly the last horse in Group A if there is no Value Odds horse listed in the top 3 picks and the horse qualifies for VO status. Also possibly the top horse in Group B if there is no Value Odds horse listed in Group A and the horse qualifies for VO status. In any given race you could have zero, 1, 2 or 3 Value Odds

horses although races with 3 of them is somewhat rare. Most races will have one. There are 5 certain other icons and a rating that, when listed on a Value Odds horse, have proven to be very potent. Here they are listed in random order: A) EARLY/MID PACE ADVANTAGE ICON B) BEST FINAL TIME RATING OF THIS FIELD ICON and/or C) RAN A RACE RECENTLY THAT MATCHED OR EXCEEDED PAR FOR TODAY'S RACE ICON. D) LATE PACE ADVANTAGE ICON E) TOTAL PACE ADVANTAGE ICON F) TTR = The horse with the HIGHEST TURN TIME RATING Look for Value Odds horses that also have one, or more, of these icons or rating. Please Note: Value Odds horses do win without these additional icons being present. One thing you definitely want to make sure is that near post time odds offer value and and present a definite overlay situation. If the Value Odds horse is bet down below 8-1 it is not recommended to play. (Example Overlay: Our true odds of 3-1 with near post time odds of 8-1 or higher, etc) It is highly recommended to only consider playing the Value Odds horses who are going off at odds of 8-1 and higher near post time.

[11] ULTIMATE PURSE LEVEL Check the column on the reports entitled (PRS LVL). This is the purse level of competitive races for each horse. The higher the rating the better. When you see the dollar sign "$" next to the purse level it means that horse is dropping to the lowest class level of its career. Sometimes a horse (especially a maiden) can show nothing or very little recently then all of a sudden run a career race when dropped in class to face a low class of foes it has never faced before. Look for a race in which only 1 or 2 horses have this ($) symbol. If there are 2, play the horse with the highest odds and a minimum 8-1 near post time. It is an extra bonus if a $ horse also has the highest PRS LVL competitive purse level rating or 2nd highest as described above. [12] EFFECTIVE IMPROVING ANGLE Warning - Don't let the simple nature of this angle fool you. The reports show each horse's last 3 race finish positions Ex: {4-5-8} with the exception of the Diamond report which shows the last 5 races. Horses that have finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th in their most recent race (far left number) and that finish position was better than the previous race is a horse who could very well be on his way to hitting a peak performance in

today's race. Look for this simple yet effective pattern on qualifying horses that are going off at 8-1 odds or higher and/or is being offered at overlay odds near post time. Sometimes a horse shows nothing special but its last 3 finish positions look something like {3-5-6} for example and they win at big odds. It happens at every track but mostly the cheaper circuits and occurs frequently. It's real easy to spot these on the reports. [13] OVERLAY TRAINERS Look for horses that have the OVERLAY TRAINER ICON that are going off at 8-1 odds or higher. This icon indicates that the trainer is used to scoring at a price, high odds, overlay odds, etc. Conversely, a horse with this overlay trainer icon that is going off at low odds, like 3-1 for example, would obviously not qualify for a play. When you find a horse with the overlay trainer icon and he's going off at 8-1 or higher AND it's the only horse in the race to have this icon it becomes even more of a desirable play but not a requirement for this angle. Also in these situations where only 1 horse has the OVERLAY TRAINER ICON

AND is going off at 8-1 or higher, if this same horse also has the SUCCESSFUL TRAINER PATTERN ICON it makes for a mini super angle "Super Overlay Trainer Play". This combination can produce some huge paying winners so keep a sharp eye out. Take the "Super Overlay Trainer Play" AND add the HOT TRAINER ICON into the mix and you have yourself a "Super-Duper Overlay Trainer Angle". Have fun watching for these going off at odds of 8-1 or higher. If there is a race with more than one horse with the overlay trainer icon but only one of them is going off at 8-1 or higher it is definitely worth taking notice. Also take special note if the horse also has the OVERLAY JOCKEY IS ON as well. [14] LONE FTC ANGLE In any claiming race there can be horses running for a tag (offered up to be claimed) for the first time. On the reports these horses are noted with the FIRST TIME CLAIMER ICON. Look for these going off at 8-1 or higher and must be THE ONLY horse in the race with the FTC icon. A lot of the time these horses were so overmatched in previous non-claiming or optional-claiming races that they show a bad finish position in most recent race(s) and are

ranked low in power rating for today's race. A bad finish position, regardless of class level, will turn off the majority of the betting public which equals high odds offering on this horse. If only 1 horse is making that important class drop it is worth a long look at nice odds. You will see qualifying horses go off at 20-1, 30-1 and even 50-1 and win! [15] JOCKEY/TRAINER OVERLAY ANGLE Look for a horse, going off at 8-1 odds or higher and has AT LEAST 2 of these 7 icons. If you find a horse with more than 2 of these that is serious potential for a nice score: A) OVERLAY TRAINER ICON B) OVERLAY JOCKEY ICON C) JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM HAVING A VERY GOOD MEET ICON D) JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM HAS AN EXCELLENT RECORD OVER A LONG TERM STUDY ICON E) SUCCESSFUL TRAINER PATTERN ICON. F) SUCCESSFUL JOCKEY SWITCH ICON. G) JOCKEY SWITCH TO A HOT JOCKEY ICON H) GOOD TURF JOCKEY ICON Where there is smoke there is fire. This is a situation where the trainer and the jockey are used to scoring at a price and/or as a team at a price.

Any other additional icon just makes the case for this horse stronger. Also when you do find a horse with at least 2 of these icons and no other horse has those 2 particular icons in the same race it is a big bonus and it can make this a very strong play. [16] LONE WEIGHT ANGLE Any horse getting 5 pounds or more weight off from last start gets the WEIGHT OFF ICON. Look for races, more potent in lower class levels and John Moore's preferred races, in which there is only 1 horse in the race who has this icon and has near post time odds of 8-1 or higher. The weight issue with handicappers has been a big debate over the last several decades. What we have found to be accurate is that weight is less of a factor the higher the class level of the race and the racing circuit itself. Therefore weight off can become a very potent angle in lower class races at all distances. Maiden claiming races, NW2L, NW3L, cheap claiming races, condition claiming races, etc It is not uncommon for a horse who has shown little or not much positive lately to all of a sudden "spring to life" at overlay odds of 20-1, 30-1, 40-1, 50-1, etc once qualifying for this angle. Often these qualifying horse are picked towards the

middle or near the bottom in order of selection which is by power rating. This is because of their poor recent form. Don't let that fool you. Some shrewd trainers (usually the lower the purse, the higher the chance this occurs) know how to play the game and are avid bettors themselves. These types of trainers wait for the right spot to "pop" then get the weight off with a condition allowance, age allowance, bug boy allowance or a combination of everything! Definitely take close note what and if these qualifiers have any of the profit icons and/or qualify for another angle in this manual (Ex; H/JS, Hot Jockey, J/S, etc). However it is not mandatory to have anything else besides that "magic" lone weight off icon and big odds offerings. [17] TOP 4 PLUS ONE OVERLAY The 4 horses with the highest Full Card Reports' power rating are known as "The top 4 picks" or "Group A" in our terminology. Look for any horse in the top 4 picks (Group A) that is: A) Minimum 70% overlay odds, compared to Our True Odds, (see example below) near post time. or B) The only 1 of the top 4 to be a decent overlay at all near post time. or

C) "Top Of The B's horse" (which is simply the 5th pick) at minimum 70% overlay odds, compared to Our True Odds, near post time. We have found it amazing how much successful value the 5th pick has exhibited over the years. If you see that there is not much value in the top 4 picks and, for example, the 5th pick is going off at 25-1 you might want to seriously consider betting that horse. Example of a minimum 70% overlay: Horse has our true odds 6-1 and near post time odds must be 11-1, etc, or higher. Figuring overlay percentage is simple. Near post time odds divided by our true odds = (X). Then (X) minus 1.00 = that horse's overlay percentage. If you have not read the article on TRUE ODDS you must do so. When you have 2 overlays of 70% or higher you can bet them both, possibly with a "Dutch" system, or you can play the horse with the highest odds or highest overlay percentage. Please Note: If you have not yet read the article on TRUE ODDS you can find it at Also see the odds conversion chart on the last page of this book. [18] THE HOT ANGLE Jockeys and trainers get hot and cold. There are dozens of reasons why but do we really need to think too much on this issue? It's obvious a trainer cannot keep his entire barn winning

all the time however he can certainly have them all fit & ready, placed right and injury free for a period of time. The trick is to jump on this money train while it's still running. This brings us to this next super angle. Look for those who have: A) HOT JOCKEY ICON or B) HOT TRAINER ICON and going off at 8-1 odds or higher. If the horse also has any other somewhat related icon like the JOCKEY SWITCH TO A HOT JOCKEY ICON or any other significant icon, it makes the play even more live. Don't be afraid to play a horse with a hot jockey or trainer if the particular horse has not shown much positive lately. The human intentions sometimes override the basic handicapping set of rules. This angle becomes a stronger play if only one horse in the race has one of these HOT icons. Also a hot trainer who has the ICON is worth noting. And a hot jockey who has the ICON is definitely worth noting. OVERLAY TRAINER OVERLAY JOCKEY Also watch for jockeys on any horse that have a special talent and are always "HOT" on the turf. They will have the GOOD TURF JOCKEY ICON.

There is a high impact value on HOT TRAINERS in maiden races so watch closely for that. Usually a maiden can make a huge improvement and it makes sense if a hot trainer has his or her whole barn on a carefully planned "up cycle". Another high impact value is when a horse has both the HOT JOCKEY ICON and the HOT TRAINER ICON. Even though this would seem obvious sometimes the best gold nuggets of information are overlooked by the majority of the betting public. Another thing to look for is when a hot trainer has an entry and scratches one of them. As long as you get 8-1 odds or higher you will be backing the confidence of a trainer who is make all the right decisions lately. A HOT JOCKEY or HOT TRAINER horse who also has a SUCCESSFUL TRAINER PATTERN ICON is another strong combination to keep an eye out for. [19] LONE JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM Any time you have a horse in a particular race that has a strong attribute and is the lone horse in the race to show that attribute it can become quite a nice angle. That is where the "Lone Icon Angle Report" was born from but that's another article. For one of the best angles look for the JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM DOING VERY WELL FOR THE MEET ICON. Look for a race with just one horse to have this icon and is a minimum 8-1 odds near post time. [20] BEST ALL-WEATHER TRACK

PEDIGREE Following HOT at Keeneland, Woodbine, Arlington Park, Hollywood Park, Del Mar, Turfway Park, Presque Isle Downs The following angle can be very strong in maiden races, especially for first time starters, and if it's the only horse in the race it's fantastic. Actually this angle can be used in any race as long as the horse is the only horse in the race to have this icon. Horses that are the only one in the race to have the or EXCELLENT PEDIGREE FOR ALL-WEATHER TRACKS ICONS make strong angle plays. The one with the plus sign is a little stronger. Look for these going postward at 8-1 or higher near post time. [21] JOCKEY SWITCH/TRAINER TEAM ANGLE Look for a horse that has either A1 or A2 AND either B or C The reason this angle works so well is that because there is a jockey switch and today's jockey/trainer team has done very well during the current meeting or during a long term study. A1) JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM DOING VERY WELL FOR THE MEET however it does not have to be the only one in the race with this icon.

A2) JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM HAS AN EXCELLENT RECORD OVER A LONG TERM STUDY however it does not have to be the only one in the race with this icon. B) The horse will also need either the SWITCH TO HOT JOCKEY TODAY ICON or C) GETS JOCKEY SWITCH TODAY ICON. So this is sort of the trainer's "go to" jock when he or she feels they have a live one or possibly the trainer thinks this rider's skills fits the horse better than whoever rode the horse in last race. Look for one these gems going off at 8-1 or higher. [22] PROVEN FCR's FIRST TIME STARTER ANGLE We have a certain criteria that works very well with first time starters. Look for first timers that have the: A) VALUE ODDS ICON (TOP 4 PICK AT 8-1 ML OR HIGHER) and as a bonus the B) SUCCESSFUL TRAINER PATTERN ICON which will show a comment on the Diamond report that reflects that the trainer does well with first time starters, trainer does well with 2 year olds, trainer does well in maiden races, etc. You will see first time starters picked 2nd or 3rd that win and don't have the trainer pattern icon however a higher percentage of winners is had with those that have both icons. Check the work points. The best range of Workout Points (WRK PTS) is between 95 and 105 with 100 being perfect. Over 105 might be too much and under 95 too little.

If a 1st timer qualifies and is the only horse in the race to have the SHARP RECENT WORKOUT ICON it is an obvious bonus. A qualifier that has the HOT TRAINER ICON is obviously worth giving extra credit. You will want to take those that qualify for this angle, with or without the trainer pattern icon, at 8-1 odds or higher near post time. [23] TRAINER PATTERN with JOCKEY ANGLE When a trainer shows a successful pattern today and gives the mount to a jockey that makes a successful J/T team it definitely screams loud: A) Look for a horse that has both the SUCCESSFUL TRAINER PATTERN ICON and B) JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM DOING VERY WELL FOR THE MEET ICON or C) JOCKEY/TRAINER TEAM HAS AN EXCELLENT RECORD OVER A LONG TERM STUDY ICON and is going off at odds of 8/1 or higher. [24] THE FORGOTTEN PAR ANGLE Look for horses that have the WITHIN ITS LAST FEW STARTS THIS HORSE HAS MATCHED OR EXCEEDED PAR

FOR FINAL TIME AT TODAY'S CLASS LEVEL AND DISTANCE ICON and are going off at odds of 8-1 or higher. Special John Moore Profit Tip: Look for a race in which less than half of the starters have the PAR icon. From that narrowed group focus on the PAR horses with the highest odds. Notice the term used is "starters" meaning after you adjust for scratches. And if you see a race where only 1 horse has the PAR icon that's outstanding. Actually with this angle the higher the odds the better. This is another concept the modern betting public refuses to give merit to. If a horse ran a race recently, even if it was 3 races ago, good enough to beat today's field it's a contender. The majority of the betting public have laser engraved in their brain "what have you done for me lately" and do not even consider what the horse did 2 or 3 races back. You will find some real bomb winners with this angle. In some races you will see several horses with the PAR icon. Pay close attention to those going off at odds of 8-1 or higher. Take notice if only 1 PAR horse of the group is going off at our desired odds level. Also watch out for a PAR horse ranked near the bottom in power rating. Sometimes you can get a real nice overlay winner from down there. The horse might have run its par in race a few starts ago and the majority of the betting public does not give merit to the fact that the horse could possibly run a repeat performance of said race.

In some races you will see a lot of horses with the PAR icon, in other races just a few and in other races you might have none. [25] THE PREDICTOR FORM RATING Full Card Reports has gotten a lot of compliments over the years from subscribers on our Form Rating (CUR FRM) on the reports. Full Card Reports' Form Rating is more of a predictor of form for today's race than a reflection of what the horse has done recently. The angle to look for here is the horse with the highest Form Rating (ties count) and days since last race (LST RCE) are 21 or lower and has near post time odds of 8-1 or higher. Our form ratings range from a negative 10 to a positive 10. They will look like this on the report (-8, -7, -6, etc for negative and 6, 7, 8, etc. for positive). Just like in the real world the positive numbers are better and higher than the negative numbers. EX: A form rating of 4 is higher, and better, than a form rating of -7. If the horse's power rating is within 10 points of the top it's a nice bonus but not a qualifying factor. Lower days since last race is also a bonus (single digit days are great). [26] TRAINER PATTERN/LAST RACE ANGLE Look for horses that won their most recent race, did not win the previous race, and have the SUCCESSFUL

TRAINER PATTERN ICON and has near post time odds of 8-1 or higher. It's amazing how many overlay winners have actually won their last start. The majority of the betting public does not like a winner moving up in class or to a higher class circuit (Ex: Finger Lakes to Aqueduct, etc). Certain trainers have that special knack to keep their fit horse on top of his game for another peak or even lifetime best performance. Actually this angle can work without the trainer angle requirement. Just as a general rule of thumb take a close look at every horse who won its last race, regardless of track, class, distance, surface, etc. If you see any horse who has won its last start (regardless of anything) and is going off at double digit odds in today's race it is worth strong consideration. Sometimes a win will give a horse a big boost in confidence and it can run a career best race next time out. This is especially important in horses going from maiden win to nw2l, nw2l to nw3l, etc, especially in claiming races but not ruling out the nw1x, nw2x, nw3x allowance classes. [27] PEDIGREE/WORKOUT ANGLE Look for horses that have both the: A) BEST PEDIGREE FOR TODAY'S DISTANCE ICON and B) IMPRESSIVE RECENT WORKOUT ICON

and has near post time odds of 8-1 or higher. Once again the majority of the betting public cares very little about pedigree yet we see longshot winners with this icon combination over and over, year after year. If you see just 1 horse in the race with the IMPRESSIVE RECENT WORKOUT ICON and the other icon it is an extra bonus. [28] DAYS SINCE LAST RACE ANGLE Look for a horse who's days since last race (LST RCE) is 9 or less and is going off at 8-1 odds or higher. There's always a reason why a trainer brings a horse back quickly and it's all part of the planning of the trainer. You will see horses that didn't show much or anything in their most recent start yet spring to life coming back to race again within 9 days or less. Ties count. If there is more than 1 qualifier going off at 8-1 or higher go with the horse with the highest odds, lowest days or "Dutch" bet both. This angle is more effective at cheaper circuits and/or cheaper races. When these types run right back a lot of the time the trainer either knows something or has planned something. The last race occurring 5,6,7,8,9, etc days ago might have been for conditioning purposes only thus a poor finish position

is practically meaningless. Take special note if only 1 horse in a race has days since last race (LST RCE) in single digits. [29] BEST COMPETITIVE PURSE LEVEL Look for a horse that has the highest Competitive Purse Level rating (PRS LVL), which is easy to find because it will be underlined, and is going off at 8-1 odds or higher. Sometimes you will find a horse who might be ranked middle to low in power rating but has met our our criteria for running competitive in races with higher purse levels than today's race. Ties do count. If you have a tie of 2 horses and they both go of at 8-1 or higher consider playing both in the exotics as they could possibly both finish in the money (1st-2nd, 1st-3rd, etc). Because these horses are often coming off a bad performance in its most recent start or several bad performances in a row the betting public is very reluctant to bet it. The advantage this angle gives you is that it tells you that sometime in the recent past or somewhat recent past this horse has been competitive with a class higher than today's class. [30] BEST TOTAL PACE RATING Look for a horse that has the TOTAL PACE ADVANTAGE ICON and is going off at 8-1 odds or higher.

Usually the horse with the highest total pace will be an automatic contender in most races. It should be noted that ANY top pick on the reports, in any kind of race or class, with this icon should be given extra credit. It's amazing how successful this one simple factor is. If there was any one factor that could be labeled strongest of all factors and ratings it could definitely be this one. Also - If you see a horse that qualifies for this angle and AND also has the LATE PACE ADVANTAGE ICON and/or EARLY/MID PACE ADVANTAGE ICON it becomes a super fantastic mini mega angle! Also take note of horses who do not have the aforementioned pace icons but are a top rating (remember: it is underlined) in the categories of Early Pace (ER PA), Mid Pace (MD PA), Late Pace (LT PA), or the highest Turn Time Rating (TTR) of the field. This angle does very well in turf races as well as dirt and synthetic track surfaces.

[31] BEST FCR SPEED FIGURE Look for horses that have the highest Full Card Reports Speed Figure (SPD FIG) and are going off at 8-1 or higher. In every race there is only 1 horse who will be assigned the BEST SPEED FIGURES OF THIS FIELD ICON. Since we take into account the speed figure a horse runs in competitive races he might have run a bad race last time out but could rebound in today's race. Sometimes you will even see a horse who ran a decent or good race last time out, has the highest speed figure and the betting public still let's him go off at overlay odds. Ties count. You will even see horses that have a FCR Speed Figure 5 points or more higher than the next highest figure and still go off at odds of 8-1 or higher. [32] BEST TURN TIME RATING Want a distinct advantage over the majority of the betting public? This particular rating gives you exactly that. Full Card Reports' Turn Time Rating has proven unique and very powerful for many years yet not used or known by the majority of players. In order to gain an advantage in this game a player needs to be using something the majority of the betting public is not. Look for horses that have the highest Turn Time Rating (TTR) and are going off at 8-1 or higher. Ties count. Horses that run higher Turn Time Ratings have proven to be the best at making that all important quick move on the

final turn. This enables them to be in good position for the stretch drive once they straighten course. Take note if the horse with the highest TTR in the race also has the highest rating for either early, mid or late pace. This is a very positive bonus. Watch for a top TTR horse who shows another of these 36 angles. Often the high TTR plus the extra angle equals a big overlay win. Sample for TTR on Full Card Reports' Quick-F Plus Report In viewing the following diagram of a basic 1 mile track the TURN TIME PACE RATING measures how fast a horse ran from "E" to "A". [33] DAYS SINCE LAST RACE TRIPLE

These babies can pay huge sometimes. In the exact moment this is written there were back to back winners that qualified for this angle and their win mutuels were $ and $73.60! Look for a horse who's days since last race (LST RCE) is in triple digits, is the highest days since last race in the field and is going off at 8-1 odds or higher. The logic of fact is that sometimes the freshest horse will be the best horse that day. You will have fun with this one. I see it happening more at the smaller circuits but it can happen at any track. Look for workout points to be at least 60 or higher workout points is even stronger Check the CLASS TL points and gauge its ranking. As a BONUS also look for a race which has only 1 or 2 horses who have a days since last race number in triple digits. These are very easy to spot and the betting public will be very reluctant to bet this obvious layoff horse. [34] PERFECT WORKOUT POINTS Look for horses that have FCR Workout Points (WRK PTS) of exactly 100 and are going off at 8-1 odds or higher. It's amazing how precise this angle is but it is proven over time to have a very high impact value. When a horse's Workout Points (WRK PTS) are exactly 100 it means that it has an absolute perfect pattern of workouts and/or races based on our proprietary criteria. This rating has nothing to do with the speed or time of the

workouts. Just the pattern and distance. Workout Points in the 90's are not quite perfect and over 100 means the horse has possibly had too much action. You would think, like in most ratings, the higher the better. But with this particular rating as close to 100 as possible the better. Sometimes you will even see a horse with nothing else positive, have 100 exact Workout Points and win at 12-1, 15-1, 20-1 and higher. [35] DUAL POINTS SYSTEM ANGLE This angle is actually a "2 headed monster" so to speak. Both parts are very simple yet very effective for finding our overlays. Part 1 (A) - Horses that rank within 5 Full Card Reports Power Rating (POW RTG) points of the top rating in the field. Basically any horse within the 5 point range should be considered dangerous if let go at odds of 8-1 or higher. The power rating is comprised of dozens upon dozens of handicapping factors so it naturally makes sense that any horse with a power rating close (within 5 points) to top rating in the field is a serious contender. Watch for "give away" situations where several horses are within the 5 point range however only 1 of them is going off at double digit odds. This is a special little "mini-angle". Also watch for a race where several horses are within the 5 point range and 1 of them shows 2 or more of these 36 Proven Winning Overlay Angles and is going off at double digit

odds. Another little "mini-angle". Part 2 (B) - Horses, who are morning line longshots, that have the highest EXOTIC LONGSHOT POINTS. Each horse has this points rating listed on the bottom row of their information on all of the versions "ELR" will look like this for example: [EXOTIC LONGSHOT POINTS: 47]. A points rating of 40 or higher is considered good however you are only looking for the horse with the highest ELR points in the race that is going off at 8-1 odds or higher. In some races you will find only one horse who is 8-1 or higher and has the advantage in ELR points. The horse might have the 3rd highest ELR points, for example, but the other two horses have near post time odds below 8-1. In other races you might find several horses going off at 8-1 or higher. Look for the horse out of that group with the highest ELR points. An ELR points advantage for the horse with the highest rating over the horse with the second highest rating in the 15, 20, 30 or 40 point range (or more) is very considerable. Example: A horse with the top ELR has 76 points and the horse with the second highest has 40, etc. Either part of this angle becomes strong when you find a horse that also qualifies for other angles listed in this book obviously. [36] OVERLAY JOCKEYS Look for horses that have the OVERLAY JOCKEY ICON that are going off at 8-1 odds or higher.

This icon indicates that the jockey has a knack for scoring at a price, high odds, overlay odds, etc. When these horses have at least 1 other icon, it does not matter which one, it can be a very live longshot play however having an additional icon is not a requirement for this angle. Conversely, a horse with this overlay jockey icon that is going off at low odds, like 3-1 for example, would obviously not qualify for a play. When you find a horse with the OVERLAY JOCKEY ICON and it's going off at 8-1 or higher AND it's the only horse in the race to have this icon it becomes even much more of a desirable play. Certain jockeys will win at enough overlay odds to generate the OVERLAY JOCKEY ICON during certain parts of the year and/or at certain race meetings. On our reports when you see this icon it means the jockey is currently in the midst of his or her overlay winning sequence. Sometimes an overlay jockey will be a talented apprentice who is getting live mounts from trainers who are firing live shots and are looking for every advantage he or she can get (IE; weight off).
